Hi
I just installed CM7 RC0 and also tried to install gappks.apk through recovery. but apart from Market and Gtalk noting was installed.
When I am trying to download anything from market it shows "downloading from Maket". but nothing gets downloaded.
I tried to do the s0be method but i am not able to create any folder in /cache directory. it states "permission denied' read only file system...
need your help to get market downloads working
Update: Tried s0be's method but no luck...cannot get pass step 4

I don't know if it will be any help but I had the same issue when I was using fixed SBFs and a nandroid. It seems to have rectified itself since I flashed the full Nordic Froyo. It may or may not have been coincidental though.
[Q]CM7 RC1 V2-Not able to download anything from market
After updating from RC0 to RC1 v2, I am not able to download anything from market. I am able to browse all the applications in Market. When i click to to install, it starts and disappears.
I tried wiping data/catch and re-isntalling Rc2 v2 but not help.
Does anyone one have any suggestion ?
did u solve the problem?
go to settings > application > all > market and tap on uninstall updates.
You will get the old i.e the factory version of the market. However, it can download stuff
and I no longer get the "connection time out" error. yay
Manage Applications> "Market" and “Google Services Framework” , clear cache and data, reboot.
I'm on Hashcodes CM9 rom and I installed GAPPs from KFU. All the applications work with the exception that I cannot login in to YouTube or Google Voice. Gmail login works just fine, as does Google Play.
When I try to login to YouTube, I get the error message: "Unfortunately, Android System has stopped." And the application exits. I've found nothing in either the gapps thread, kfu thread, or Hashcodes thread about this issue.
Can anyone help?
When you select the account to login to it will ask for permission to access your YouTube account click allow then it will ask for permission to access your +1`s click allow if this prompt doesn't come up anymore uninstall YouTube and reinstall about voice dunno other kindle doesn't have voice capabilities also the login is with email and not user name anymore so try email and password if it doesn't work changes will need to be made from your computer not your kindle to your account and Google+
Nope that didn't work. I didn't receive any additional prompts about adding permissions after sign in attempt. Maybe that's because I don't have 2 step verification enabled.
-Uninstalled
-Resynced
-Re-installed
I should have known it wouldn't work because youtube works just fine on my phone, and I tried logging in on the Fire with the same email to no avail.
re-installed G-apps
I don't know specifically what the problem was but this is what I did to get it working in case someone happens to have a similar problem:
-Wiped (aka formatted) SDCARD (I did not do this previously)
-Copied ROM & Gapps zip file to SDCARD
-Booted into TWRP and did a factory reset then re-installed the ROM.
-Rebooted into ICS to make sure no problems.
-Booted into TWRP again did cleaned out the cache and installed gapps zip file.
-Rebooted into ICS, went into the settings menu and added my google account and it's synced.
-Downloaded YouTube from Market and gave permissions to access my google account and access +1s (i dont know if this is what made the difference but it works and I wouldn't have added +1s had the ThePooch not mentioned it)
every time I deny it plus 1's it wont login into my account so thats why I recommended that
I'm having this same issue! I'm running the July 6 nightly build. I just flashed it today. Everything runs beautifully except some Google apps won't sign in. I get the "unfortunately, android system has stopped" error. Then, the app either terminates or hangs on the sign in screen.
I got my apps from KFU, but it's also happening with google reader, which I got from the market. The apps I'm having trouble with are: Reader, Youtube, and Voice.
I tried clearing the cache and davlik cache. Didn't seem to help. Any ideas anyone has are appreciated!
Edit: Google apps that appear to work fine: maps, drive, chrome, gmail, browser, music, and google+.

Try a different flavor and when you try to login is it asking for any access rights?

Make sure your flashing the latest gapps http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Gapps#Ice_Cream_Sandwich_.28Android_4.0.x.29
The gapp package that comes with kfu is intended for gingerbread
I did a factory reset, system wipe, cache, and dalvik cache.
I hadn't realized that the KFU gapps were intended for gingerbread! I'll grab the ones from the link you posted tomorrow. It's rather late now!
Aha! It works! Thank you so much Pooch. I definately think it was trying to run the KFU apps. Before it never even asked me if I wanted to allow for the +1s. This is so great; now I feel like I have a real tablet for the first time since getting the fire.
very good glad it was a simple fix
Hi all,
I just installed google play store from an apk file on this website, and it crashes immediately upon startup (e.g. i downloaded it, installed, hit open, and it kicked me back to the browser page where i originally downloaded it). It flashes up on the screen briefly. I tried this with a few different versions of the apk (4.0.25, 3.10.17), but all had the same result.
I looked at androidandme.com/ thread /play-store-crashing-instantly/ and one guy in the comments had a fix that i can't find in my settings:
"here’s the fix:
settings>>application manager>> all tab>>
scroll to the bottom
you’ll notice google/downloads is disabled
enable it."
any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
siudan
(FYI: running kindle fire with CM10.1 Jelly bean 4.2.2)
I'd say you don't have google apps (gapps) installed. Do you? Here's the gapps zip file for android 4.2.2. http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip download, reboot recovery, and flash. Enjoy.

Had this problem the other night, I fixed it by loading Xposed framework first in Adb, then installing with ADb command, after open Xposed framework and go to modules use the mouse to tick the ouya box. after this I ran the script to install google play and bam I was running. the batch file would time out on my network copy and the xposed framework so I bypassed it and it solved my issues.

I have had this issue also, did you see the license agreement for googIe Play when you first opened the play store? I never got the license pop-up so I went back into Exposed are re-ran the installer and then rebooted. Once the ouya came back up I went back into google play and the license agreement screen appeared. Once I accepted the license, google play store loaded without issue.

Is there anyway to uninstall Google Play on the Ouya? I also get the no connection error. I tried clearing the cache, disabling it/re-enable it. All have no luck. Anyone know a better way to fix this?
No Connection(Custom Rom) Fix
For custom roms, just Wipe Dalvik Cache and Flash Gapps. Fixed for me
*easy step by step solution*!!!
1. CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR TIMEZONE MATCHES YOUR OWN TIMEZONE(USE NETWORK PROVIDED TIME
2. CLEAR DATA AND CACHE, FORCE STOP! BLAH BLAH BLAH...
3. REBOOT
AT FIRST THIS SOLUTION DIDN'T WORK FOR ME SO, HERE IS WHAT WORKED FOR ME
*ROOT REQUIRED*
1. DOWNLOAD ROOT EXPLORER or ROOT BROWSER
2. NAVIGATE TO A FOLDER CALLED "etc' (LOWER CASE)
3. THEN, SELECT A FILE NAMED "host"
4. DELETE THAT FILE AND REBOOT!!
5. ENJOY GOOGLE PLAY!

2. There are lots of GSM apps there and nothing worked in AppMarket.

Hi,
No official international rom so far (I doubt if it's planned, this phone's target is Asia)
Convenient solution is to flash GAPPS on top of existing software (without erase, just clear cache). Base package can be found at htcui[dot]com//androidrom/htc_820_rom [replace dot] - look for BillGates-li tread (you may need to use chrome with translation, as it's all Chinese). I'm sorry for confusion, but due to rookie rank, I'm not allowed to post external links.
Beware, each major upgrade (that flashes, not patches) will erase those GAPPS.
You'll need:
- customer recovery .img (can be found in orygnial android development section)
- fastboot (to flash i.e. install it)
- (suggested) original recovery.img (to enable future upgrades from HTC, that will download but not install on custom recovery)
Don't forget to backup before flashing - "just'n'case".

GMS App not working
Hi, just bought an HTC 820us, and just like everyone, no google apps. What's weird is that my phone is not even recognized by HTC sync manager, Windroid, HTC tool, fastboot under command line or any other program.
I'm unable to get this device's token in order to unlock the bootloader and install google apps, root, etc. When I try to install the GMS app I get an "App not installed error". If anyone finds a solution for this i'll be more than happy to donate to the cause.
Thanks for reading!

well, I have the same device since two days and I still try to install google play without success yet. it is possible at all or I can just use a limited version of this smartphone?
this is my first android phone and I have no idea what to do...any suggestions are welcome
found a solution
Ok, so after dealing with this phone for a while I found many solutions for the common problems of having an imported phone from china.
I found solutions for: Google Apps, Root, CallerID mismatch (Contacts not recognized when receiving calls due to chinese format of their CallerID)
- How to install Google Apps
1. Do a Factory Reset of your phone in the recovery screen (volume down+power button)
2. Download the GMS安装器 apk in your computer from google or any other source, make sure it's the apk with the android robot with the google apps logo in it. (app is no longer distributed in the included App Market)
3. Tranfer the downloaded file to a SD card (32gb maximum size or else it wont be recognized)
4. Insert the SD card in your phone
5. Using the "File Transfer" app in your phone copy the GMS app to the phone's "Download" folder.
6. Enable "Unknown Sources" in Settings/Security/Device Administration
7. Install the App, DON'T RUN IT. (Installation failed for me at first, a factory reset solved this)
8. Unmount the SD Card
9. Using the "File Transfer" app, install the GMS apk
10. Follow the instructions the GMS app is giving you, remember to remove the SD card before installation
11. The app will download something like 200mb, after that it will ask you to enter a code in your phone's dialer, enter it, it will automatically will reboot.
12. If you are lucky, the phone will have all Google Apps installed.
- Root
Once you have Google apps installed, it's easier for some root exploits to work.
1. Use Kingo Root for windows, it will try many methods of Rooting your device, the one that worked used an installation of various apps. Kingo root needed "USB Debugging" activated in Settings/Developer Options. If you don't have the Developer options menu enabled, please google it.
Once you have Root access it's easier to remove the Chinese apps that came with the phone.
- How to fix the CallerID not recognizing contacts problem
1. Download and Install "ES File Explorer" using the Google Play Store app.
2. Allow Root access when prompted to.
3. Head over to the "Tools" menu using the button in the upper left corner of the "ES File Explorer" app.
4. Enable "Root Explorer"
5. Click on "Root Explorer"
6. Click on "Mount R/W
7. Set "/system" to the RW value.
8. Press OK
9. Navigate to: Local, then /Device/system
10. Look for file named: "build.prop" and open it
11. Open it using ES Note Editor
12. Edit the file (using the 3 dots menu on the upper right corner)
13. Find the entry named: ro.phone.min_match=11 and change the number to 7.
14. Entry has to be named ro.phone.min_match=7
15. Press the return button, it will ask you to save changes, save them.
16. Just in case, remove the RW access mentioned in step 7.
17. Go to Settings/apps/all/ contacts and force stop, clear data
18. Do the same with the Contact Storage App.
19. Reboot Phone, cross your fingers and problem is solved.
I hope this helps a lot of people.
BTW: My phone is an HTC 820us, China Mobile.

I describe here how to get GAPPS for HTC D820US and maybe for any other "China-smartphone"
1_: Unmount the SD Card
2_: go to nduoa.com/package/detail/225445 with Chrome
3_: Right click on the page > translate to english
4_: Choose the green button next to blue one and above the other three green ones to download a small file called com.gmainstaller.apk
5_: install it
6_: this apk will download a file of abt. 246MB and needs following code in the dialer which pop-ups automatically [ code: * # * # 442 # * # * ]
7_: The device automatically restart and automatically install GAPPS, after the completion of all applications please check the list.
8_: if needed after all, download separately from "apkmirror.com" following two apk's: Google Play Services and Google Play Store.
