Downgrade Note 4 to KitKat 4.4 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

I've been browsing the internet and XDA to help myself to figure out why I constantly get "FAIL" in Odin when trying to downgrade my Note 4 from 5.0.1 to 4.4.
It looks like at some point Samsung pushed an update that locks the bootloader, which prevents the downgrade. Can someone confirm? Also, is there a way to get around?
Thank you in advance.

correct you cant downgrade. Ive tried a billion times. At this point there is no way around it.

Thanks, that is what I thought.

[Q] Currently have 4.3 and trying to unlock

Hi i'm attempting to unlock my Brother's S4 for him. I haven't unlocked anything manually in nearly 2 years back when I did my EVO. But his phone is currently 4.3 and it's M919. The couple guides that I found that seemed simple enough require I be at 4.4.2. But my problem is when I try to update his phone manually, it will update it to 4.4.4, which is clearly newer. So my problem is, How do I go about this? Is anything available for 4.3 that I didn't find yet or is there something i'm missing?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks
No unlocking with Tmobile.
Read the threads. ???
Pp.
You trying to carrier unlock? I just did this last night mine also came 4.3 there are some great guides that explain how to do this. Basically you need to download the stock 4.2.2 firmware and flash it in Odin then you need to flash the UAV modem file then you can get into the service menu and unlock(this did not work for me) if this doesn't work you need to root then install regionaway apk and this will region and carrier unlock you this worked for me. Next you need to flash stock 4.3 or 4.4.4 its been over 10 days since you made this post so if you still trying to unlock your brothers phone reply here and I will find the guides and post them.

5.0.1 Downgrade Confusion

There are dozens of posts which swear up and down that you can downgrade from 5.0.1 to 4.4.4 on the Note 4 Retail (Verizon)
Then I see the same amount of posts saying that you can't do it because of the bootloader update.
My experience with it led me to the "Fused 2 Binary 1" error (Without bricking it) multiple times.
Can it be done?
Android: 5.0.1
Build: LRX22C.N910VVRU2BOF1

From what everyone one says in the threads, no. And the reason is because you are on the OF1 build which is an incremental bootloader put out just so you can't flash back lol. It sucks I am in the same boat until a dev figures out away around it.
well....
I still don't understand why the fuss over letting people flash firmware.. If I pay, I should be able to play.. Screw the system...
I need to disable the OTA.. I kept hitting cancel on the update, and it eventually started the update without me.
Can we get this stickied so that people like me aren't getting confused by all the back and forth?

HELP Downgrade ATT Note 4 SM-N910A 5.0.0 to 4.4.4 KitKat

HI,
I new to this forum and i am trying to Root my ATT Note 4 SM-N910A 5.0.0 to 4.4.4 KitKat. all of the forum posts i have read and everything i searched for on google or any other search engine tell me i am able to. i have the 4.4.4 kitkat firmware, samsung usb drivers and odin v3.09. every time i try to run odin i get a fail message. i have my phone completely wiped clean and i turned on usb debugging on my phone. i cant figure out why Odin keeps failing. can someone please tell me what i am doing wrong or if i am stuck with 5.0.1 on my phone. i want to root my phone.
thanks,
rich
If you have firmware above coc4 you CAN NOT downgrade and are stuck on 5.0.1 no root. Go to phone setting/general/about device scroll down. If you see the baseband ends in coc5 or coc6 you are stuck

Thank you and Damn. I have COC6 so i guess im out of luck.
Now i am thinking i should sell me Note 4 and get a t-mobile version
I would do the same except i cant get enough out of my at&t note 4 to buy a good like new or new t-mobile note 4 so i guess i will just stick with it untill we either get some form of root on coc5 and coc6 or i can upgrade again for free
Hi My phone base band version ends with coc4 can i downgrade it to 4.4 ? If yes thn firmware link and steps ..would be graeatful to you

I know it's Kies rather than Odin, but I wouldn't try it myself.

AFAIK, no one has successfully downgraded from OC6/OC5 or higher without soft bricking. No one has mentioned trying your method either though. Not that I recall at least.
You can try it. Worst case scenario, you soft brick your phone (which is a fixable type of bricking) and have to use Odin to get back to OC6 or higher. Then the phone will be ok again.
If I were you, I'd download the OC6 or 5.1.1 Odin files first. Just so you're ready if you did soft brick. Less time without your phone.

Requesting 5.1.1 N910AUCU2DOI2 Odin AP file

Hi all,
I have tried all methods, factory reset, change to ATT sim(non-active sim), non of them work. I dont have an active ATT sim
I think the only way for me to upgrade to 5.1.1 is through Odin.
I'm waiting too
I've got the 5.1.1 update on my phone. And would be happy to provide odin files for it if someone can tell me how to pull it.

att note 4 5.1.1 Odin update
I have the same problem. My att note 4 is on Cricket wireless, and I haven't noticed any OTA when checking for updates. I've read on another post that att pulled the update and sent it back to fix the install issue some are having (among other issues). I really would like to try a manual Odin firmware update and see if it goes through... Please, if anyone could provide the files, that would be great. I'm tired of waiting with this annoying battery drainage issue with 5.0 - 5.01...

Just an FYI, I have a friend on Cricket. When Cricket was still using the old carrier (was it Verizon?), Cricket released its own updates. Usually a month or so after the main carrier.
That was when Cricket had its own phone models though. My friend had an S4 and it was a Cricket model number.

Yeah it failed for me to. I honestly don't know at this point. I'm not a dev. I know some things lol. I think there might be something wrong with the current firmware that is causing it to fail. This is the first I've seen this ever happen. I was trying to find the Odin files for 5.0.1 but I don't see them anywhere yet. That way we can odin flash current firmware again then try update. If that fails, we'll need to wait for the Odin files for 5.1.1.
Odin files for 5.1.1 will hopefully soon be up!

I 'll give the device to my wife and I will buy the note 5 of TMO . I think I'll have better opportunities.
thanks for your time my brother!
From what I 've seen the least bad brand is Samsung , because the other brands bring poor processors (MTK ) or are bad devices to develop OS cooked.
I tried this method and it works fine for me.
Note 4 AT&T only.

stock 4.3 to 4.4.2 question

Yesterday when I was checking for app updates, the T-Mobile updater (i guess that is what its called) forced the download of 4.4.2 to my phone and now I think it will auto update the phone to 4.4.2
If i don't keep postponing it. I've read nothing but bad things about 4.4.2 so that is why I've never updated my phone since i got it just over 2 years ago....is it safe to do so? or should I attempt to check for other updates?
Will I lose anything (I read that the apps can no longer write to the sd-card, though there are apps that Ive come across that fixes that issue)? I am in the process of backing everything up (already did the phone *plugged it into my computer and used Explorer* though it will take quite some time still due to the card having 45 gbs of stuff on it (mostly audio) I've also read that there were battery life issues....and that some peopel had to factory reset their phones to get it working correctly again...
Thanks for any help you guys can give.
Yes you need to install the 4.4.2 update. You will not stay on that version though. Once you install it you will be prompted to install other updates a well. Once you've installed all of the OTA updates you will end up on build number N900TUVUFOL1 which is Android 5.0 and the most up to date. You always want to be on the latest baseband if possible.
