Hi, All
I saw lots of docs that says be careful before installing 3rd party apps. Because of security issues.
But what about of custom ROMS? We are installing the whole OS.
In installing Custom ROMS developers just gave URL to download ROMS or some application that installs these ROMS on phones?
We even dont know how these ROMS builds, what hidden applications will run in background
I am not here insulting gr8 developers efforts in creating these ROMS and rooting.
Just asking something what I feel. It will be great if some one answer this in positive way.
Also are we able to root wildfire now after 2.2 official upgrate as http://androidos.in/2011/05/we-will-no-longer-be-locking-bootloaders-on-our-devices-–-htc/?
No 2.2 root still. As forROMs your mostly ok, people are usally genuine and they takw much more effort than apps.

custom roms
i would say they are stable enough for daily use like around 90-95% of the stuff in it works. that should be the case for the most popular aftermarket firmware of custom roms, cyanogenmod. for more info, visit: www.cyanogenmod.com
As for rooting hboot 1 - i have no clue as to what htc are going to do (feel free to sign using link below)

I don't get what sort of "positive discussion" you want on this topic. Yes, it is true, developers CAN implement hidden stuff and backdoors on their ROMs. So, what will you do about it? The answer is upto you if you trust the dev or not, and, if you are paranoid, dont use Custom ROMs. End of story. And if you still want to use Custom ROMs, then learn the Android OS, break down the ROM, analyze it and use it - or better still, make your own ROM and use it.
Take it easy
My friends,
I understand that this is an obvious question, but the responses seem quite harsh in my opinion..
the references of condoms and paranoia are funny to some but offensive to others and this leads to arguments which lead to rule breaking and well at the end of the day one may find himself/herself banned for only pointing out the obvious..
Remember that this is also an act of trolling which is not something that XDA tolerates..
So i advise all to avoid this kind of behaviour unless looking for some trouble.

Hello, I am loving my Note 2, and I've had it for about a month now. The problem is, I don't like all the changes samsung has made in the stock rom for the phone... And all the pesky bloatware.
The last phone I had was the legendary HTC HD2. (I will never forget it!) I was always up to date with the newest Android version on a phone from the stone age. (Shout out to Tytung and all his amazing work for the HD2!)
So basically I am pretty used to the xda-forums, flashing and having my phone to be exactly how I want it to be. However, I am facing a problem with my picky-ness.
I am looking for a rom with the newest Android version 4.2, because I like the way google meant for the android to be, and I would LOVE it if there were a "clean" Android 4.2 rom for the Note 2. I have found a few of those, but the problem is that I have felt in love with Samsung's S Note-app and the ability to "split screen" (and also a couple of those fancy features, but they are not important). Which leads me to my question:
(tl;dr)
Does it exist a "clean" Android 4.2 rom for the Note 2, which either has the S Note-app and the "split-screen"function included or has an alternative way to implement the app and function into the rom?
Would be a bonus if all the S-pen features were included too, but I guess that would be much to ask.
Thank you for any attention!
Yes same here...I only managed to find a custom stock rom which looks and feels like aosp with the option to remove bloatwares and just leave the spen features.

An alternative option could be to make a flashable zip with all the S Pen apps and features, which would make it easier for everyone. Then my problem would have been solved. A zip that works with most of the roms, you know.
It would also have been easier for developers, as you could leave it as an open choice whether to implement the S Pen apps/features in the rom or not.
I hope someone could answer me whether this is possible or not. Or maybe tell me the chances of it being done. I am no developer myself, but I think this could be a great idea!!

Don't get me wrong, am flashing junkie but I really do not understand what are we all longing for a custom rom because custom rom in my understanding would need stable stock ROM to start which is what we are lacking now. So no matter whether recovery is now available or not custom rom do not make any sense until Samsung brings out stable stock rom.
I have LTE version rooted, knox intact, very lean and heavily debloated using the tools available, even running stock ROM designed for other region. My device flies and RAM hovers around 500MB. But for the life in me can't get the device to wake up quickly! Now I do not think no custom ROM can help me get that resolved until Sammie resolve that. Or make iannotate run without lag unless the developers (who acknowledge the issue which is due to high screen resolution) bring out a resolution.
Or am I wrong? I stand corrected because I also believe XDA developers can sometimes do the impossible.
The devs can tinker with things behind the scenes and make it even faster along with debloating it. Those are the main advantages in my eyes. Plus some will add features not available in the stock rom.

I'm sure a few things can be added. The last update tree definitely made it faster and smoother I don't see the need to root as much on the tablets. On the phones I always root to get "free" hotspot.

ive had no issues with stability. the only problem is with general lag, something that shouldn't exist on a device with these specs. I'm just hoping it's not because the gpu and cpu can't handle the reolution.
I don't think a debloated rom will have any advantages over a stock with frozen apps (other than download size). since the apps reside in the 6Gb system partion we really don't frre up any useable space.
Open up multi app to any app.

Android is based on Linux and should be using as much ram as possible. You can do a web search but having tons of ram free does not help android.

I've always rooted my phones. Had the S4 for about a week now, unrooted, and frankly I notice ZERO difference in terms of my day-to-day usage. The only thing that's changed is that I'm not flashing things.
I like custom ROMs because of all the crap that samsung loads on their devices. I want lean, mean and green. I don't use 1/10 of the crap they loaded this thing up with.
It's my tablet, let me choose what magazine app I use, or what news source I want to read.
You shouldn't have to freeze 30 apps just to get the device to behave the way you want.
I haven't seen much need for custom roms ever since xposed came along. With it I can fix the little things that irritate me about stock such as being unable to multi window some apps, and being unable to freeze some of the crap ware apps.
Often custom roms actually make your device less stable and these days there is rarely a noticeable gain in either battery life it smoothness.

I have tried all possible custom ROM's for my tomato but none of them are fully stable. Most of them has there own issues. Require a Custom ROM which is at least fully stable and usable. Below is the list of all common issues with lollipop custom ROM's for Yureka .. :-
1. (major issue) capacitive touch buttons can't be disabled completely nd so On-screen nav bar can't be used at its best.
2. Battery drain is another issue with all the custom ROM's..
3. Gapps stopping.. FC occurring during reboots nd sometimes even after reboots.. AOSP crashing...!
4. Camera app is not upto mark in any of available custom ROM's.. Worse performer than stock lollipop..
5. ROM's must provide us with some powerful custom kernel's to give us full control on hardware.. No rom has provided a great kernel which can be used for tweaking...
6. Status bar and notification panel getting f****d up with customization in most of the ROM's..
7. (Most Important in my case) Colors are really dull in most of the ROM's.. Color production is very poor and can be felt while playing games..
If all these issues can be resolved by any ROM developer, for me it will be the perfect ROM... Waiting eagerly for it..
All problems mentioned above are based on the ROM's reviewed by me which are:-
1 SOKP 5.1.1
2 BlissPop rom for tomato
3 Resurrection 5.1
(?I suggest developers to add viper4android as equaliser app and cameraNext modded app as default camera app) ? both are best in their category

Flashed from my Yureka
First of all the topic of this thread is just wrong,as you require you build one stable for you(as if its easy as installing an apk),
second the issue you mentioned here are already posted by many users in the specific ROM threads,
Third thing is that feature requests should be made in general section or in specific ROM threads,
fourth you don't pay them to demand or suggest them,
fifth just wait patiently, posts and unwanted threads like this will irritate some developers so that you may lose some ROMs !!
Note: I request mod to move this thread to its specific section.

Why don't you build yourself a custom ROM and fix all your ISSUES yourself? the developers do their best, and we should do our part and not complain.
Of course they do... It was meant to be a request nd nothing to boil the things off...All bugs mentioned above were to help developers identify all the issues nd to avoid them as all these are common one's.....!!
And I don't think any developer will see this post as an offence as it is not meant to be.. Developers are no God and they too need to be told about what they need to avoid..
Also this post has been posted in development section as it covers common issues related to ROM's which are posted here...!!

While I understand that you did not mean to rile people up with your post, it comes off as a little bit demanding. Devs know what they have to work on, feedback on the custom ROM posts is there for that. They need not be constantly reminded of it by seeing it on the front page. If everyone started demanding things by making posts about it on the forum nothing would get addressed. Developing a ROM is not a simple task it requires a lot of knowledge. Developers know what bugs their ROMs have and they try their best to fix them. Also I agree with people above that this should not be in the development section its a general thread.
I have RR in My primary phone Nexus 4 which is pretty stable. For Yureka, I'll probably root and go with RR soon. If the demand is for most stability, go with Stock. But till my usage on CM12 Lollipop, it's not that stable enough and there are rarely bugs too (These are complained many times in YU Forums). Hence it might be pretty obvious reason for that instability of Custom ROMs. One solution I'm wishing for now. How to install Xposed GravityBox module to Yureka phone? Since it comes with CM12 which violates the rule of install in Non-AOSP, is there AOSP version available for this phone? If not, can a AOSP custom ROM be built to 1+1/Yureka phones?
This thread should be closed asap.
Be happy with whatever you're probided by the devs. They are human beings (just like us) and do these works in their free time. Bug fixes take time, they aren't fixed with a click of a button. All 5.1.1 roms (for dual sim devices) had the systemui/settings fc bug. But these bugs have been solved now. See, I told you bug fixes need time. You flash roms at your own risk, so you shouldn't demand things. Rather, just be humble in listing the bugs and wait for the dev of the respective rom to fix them. These are devs spending their leisure time in compiling roms fro your device while they could've been out enjoying with their friends. They don't even get paid for all this. So next time before you use the F word in a thread, think twice.

here's something that promises much, i think. and the dev @percy_g2 seems to be well-respected.
In what way its related to development...Is posting ur querries a development??? Or giving suggestions to those who already know what to do and what not a development??...This is totally an off-topic...
Build a bug-free ROM and post it here or a kernel and post it here..and thats development btw...
Pinpointing errors and bugs is known as reporting btw...

First before creating a thread, find the right need, right place, section etc.
there is clear impulisiveness and an impact created.
Please take care of the next one
Thanks for the understanding

Are you serious?
He's almost ordering the devs to build a stable rom, why?
If he's so keen why doesn't he himself build one?
All devs have already specified all the possible bugs on the particular rom threads so why should you post them separately in a new thread?
Imagine if everyone made new threads about the bugs? All threads would be about bugs only and nothing about development.
SO!
Think twice before posting. Post only relevant stuff. Read all the posts before posting. AND DON'T COMPARE DEVS' WORK and DON'T ORDER THEM, THEY DON'T GET PAID BY YOU!
I hope you and the OP understand my point and never commit a stupidity of this kind again.
wtf man we already have cm12.1 official (snapshot) and now we got cynogen os 12.1 that too stable !!
Hi, based on former experience on Hammerhead, Mako and Flo I am happy to present 5.1 Liscio Fast Forward. Few other modifications which were carefully chosen. Feel free to post your feature request here but be aware this will always stay as close as possible to stock.
Downloads and feature list in the second post; and for screenshots, have a look at the third post.
I can not take any responsibility damaging your device or alarm clock which will not come off. If you decide to flash my ROM, you are getting responsible yourself. Have a functioning Nandroid in case something goes wrong.

Going to try now. Does this support layers?
Nevermind... Nice to have another rom for this tablet. Thank you ...

Nice to see a separate thread for the manta All's well with last months build but I'll flash this anyway.
Very good smooth ROM for my N10. Thanks. I missed the dt2w function from N5 Liscio Fast Forward. Can you implement that?
Hi, sorry did not catch up for a while. No, I do not think I will be able to add as the kernel on Manta does not have as many possibilities (from a code point of view) as on Hammerhead. Mako is the same...

Which kernel does this use?
Hi, this uses the stock kernel. Sorry, not too much code in git for Manta . Still, this runs quite smoothly without enhancement to the kernel.
