tried to flash RUU_RIO_U_APO_00_HTC_RUS_1.04.411.03_1.11b.3054.25_10.13.30_RETAIL_ENC_RELEASE and now the phone is dead.
it boots to the white screen with some barcodes and service info and that's all.
flashing process begins and reaches about 1% then the phone restarts and the flasher gives message about lost communication.
any suggestions what to do?
ps
is that the wrong ruu?
tried also RUU_RIO_U_APO_00_HTC_Europe_1.04.401.03_1.11b.3054.25_10.13.30_RETAIL_ENC_RELEASE but flasher said wrong vendor id and didn't proceed

i think your phone is CID locked
1 question
i see in the screen shot on top security unlocked
is this a dev device or is this a brand new device ???
Switch the phone off.
Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button. Release the VOLUME DOWN button when you see an icon on the screen.
Then press the following hardware buttons in sequence: VOLUME UP >VOLUME DOWN > POWER > VOLUME DOWN
Success!! Your phone is now reset to factory defaults.
if that does NOT work...maybe this ???
extract the NBH files from the RUU file
then hex edit your CID in it
if you open BOTH the nbh files there are HTC__xxx codes
in your screenshot i see that you have HTC__032
that code is NOT in both nbh files
so...
hexedit BOTH the NBH files and change HTC__001 to HTC__032
do this in both nbh files
then try to reflash
i DO not know if this works but you can give it a try
i am not responsable for any errors but as you broke your phone you can give it a try
can anybody else help this poor guy ???
good luck

i believe it's dev device because of the line not for sale on the boot screen with windows phone 8 logo
i can't switch the phone off because when i hold down the power button for 10 seconds it simply reboots and again shows that white screen. also i don't know whether the phone is charging in this mode because the led is off.
same here.
Security unlocked, CID_32.
after trying to flash goes strait to bootloader.
Please share European RUU, because all ROM's are gone from this forum. Or i can't find them

I I have the rom `s, but I could not change the cid to the cell, you could teach me how to do it, I have the phone in English and Chinese any more, and I need to put Spanish, thanks
My Android phone has always been working fine, it has no ROMs.
It is even not unlucked.
So suddenly my phone got in to a very weird state where the following problems occured.
- When I turn on my phone by holding the Power Button, it will go straight to Bootloader.
- When I turn on my phone by holding the Power Button + Volume Up, it will run in Safe Mode.
- There is no way for me to start my phone up normally.
- My Volume Down button stopped working.
- My Power button to select commands in bootloader doesn't work.
- In Bootloader my Volume Up button, acts as the Volume Down button. So it will scroll down.
- In Bootloader my Volume Down button does nothing at all.
- To Exit Bootloader I have to hold my Power Button for at least 10 seconds to shut off my phone.
- I can't Unluck my phone since I can't select the " Yes" option when it asks if I want to Unlock Bootloader.
All these problems occured at the same time.
I am not really experienced with ROMs and stuff and I tried several fixes from throughout the web, but nothing has worked for me so far.
I really hope someone can help me, because I can't live without my mobile.
And Safe mode is awful, since I can't use installed apps from the app store, only the pre-installed apps.
Cheers,
Joris
-Edit: HTC One M8_UL
I think you have a hardware fault, that is causing your vol down button to register as being pressed, when its not (or its physically stuck). This would explain booting to hboot and safe mode, as vol down is used for both (depending on the timing of when they are pressed) and the behavior when in bootloader.
What carrier version (CID) of the M* do you have?
Does the phone have any valid warranty?

I'd suggest to see if there is an RUU for your CID, and and run it (backup your personal data before RUU, the phone will be wiped). The RUU will completely re-image the phone, and eliminate the possibility that a software issue is the cause of your problem (but I'm pretty sure its a hardware issue).
From there, you may want to take apart the casing, and see if you can "free" the vol button, clean the contacts, etc., as it may be physically stuck. I think I've seen at least a couple cases here of folks who were able to fix a stuck volume or power button this way. Although, be aware that taking this phone apart is not a trivial task; and its possible you may do more damage than good. So do the proper research, use your judgement (if its something that you can accomplish), and be very careful.
Aside from that, I'm not sure if there is much else that can be done.

I have tried several times to use a RUU.
But in the setup it keeps Staying at Updating... Sending...
for hours and hours while it should only take 10 minutes.
I don't know what RUU is the correct one for my phone.

Try the RUU again. Getting stuck the first time is not unusual.
But, if you have Win10 or USB3.0 on your PC, you may need to try another computer.
Wrong RUU will give you an error message. Getting stuck sending is a connectivity issue.
What RUU did you try?

Sadly, this did not work.
My phone did reset, but it started in Safe Mode and rebooting it makes it go to bootloader with the same issues.
I am out of ideas.
HTC__E11 that's a Dutch CID. You should have 2 year manufacturer warranty, as its standard for all electrical equipment. I bet the phone isn't 2 years old yet as its been out since what ? April last year ?
I would take it to the seller/shop or even higher up.

The main version (as shown in getvar output) ends in .13 and a higher (never) version than the RUU, which ends in .10
You can't run an older/lower number RUU ("downgrade") with s-on. You will fail version check.
But as I already mentioned, this probably is not the reason for the RUU stopping while sending. It would probably give you an error message. You have a general connectivity issue. But even if you solve that, this RUU will fail with an error message.
It is a hardware fault. Had in in a dual sim m8 and warranty covered it. The problem lies on the volume button/sd card reader flex but they won't replace it cuz its hidden under the LCD, so they replace they while LCD panel instead.

Now, this seems to be a common problem and most suggestions are re flash the firmware using RUU. The first stumbling block I am hitting is the phone is not being detected on any PC that I use, by any cable I use, either by Windows ( USB detected sound plays and disconnected plays if I unplug but no detection in device manager, I have loaded the HTC ABD drivers, installed HTC manager and Android studio but again no detection) or on a Mac.
Question is, can I reset this phone back to a working state or should I direct the customer back to a HTC service centre?
BTW the phone phone is a European model and currently on 3.
Thanks in advance.

Try another USB cable, and another port on the PC.
Also, go into bootloader, select fastboot (if not highlighted in red already) using vol keys, and confirm with power button. Then see if the phone's serial number is returned with the command: fastboot devices

Its not the Euro version. Its US version, hacked to accept Euro software. Due to this, and SuperCID (11111111) its obviously been modified, and HTC won't honor any warranty (if that is what you are asking).
I also wouldn't be surprised if the back cover was replaced (again, voiding the warranty). What does the model number on the back say?

Attempted this with 2 PC's, 1 Laptop all running Windows 7 Pro with SP1 64 bit and a Mac. Tried the cable that came with my Samsung S5 ( Not the USB 3 cable) plus 2 other cables that I use in the workshop and the original cable suppled by the customer. Phone not detected in device manager on any of the PC's, however the plugged in and unplugged sounds do play. Mac sit's idoly twiddleing its thumbs...

Went into bootloader and fastboot. only option I have to locate the S/N is via show barcodes. the S/N is:- HT444WM04348

Now that you mention that, I think there may be an Australian variant (OP6B110) which also has the product ID (M8_UL_CA) indicated on the bootloader screen.
Either way, its not the Euro variant; and its been modified by a previous owner (as mentioned).
Any luck getting USB fastboot working? Once you do, do fastboot getvar all, and post the output (delete IMEI and serial number before posting) so we can verify the MID and make sure you are running the right RUU.

No, its not the same problem. The OP is in a bootloop, which is very different from the screen not coming on.
Folks need to stop saying "same problem", because it really never never never is. Just a minor detail or 2 that is different, makes a huge impact on the condition and the way forward.
Leave the phone on charger for several hours, and then hold power for 30 seconds of so, and see if you can get the screen to come on.
If the screen doesn't come on, there isn't much we can do.

"completely conked off" (your previous words) is not a good description of the above. Misleading, really.
Hold the vol down button during the bootloop cycle. Don't let go until you are on the bootloader screen. Then try to connect with fastboot.

Hi..
Please find attached the result of 'fastboot getvar all'. i had also shared the same with HTCDev team and the reply is as below:
"Hello Sonal
I sincerely thank you for sending us the information that was requested . According to the information you have provided, I was able to identify the reason why the device can not receive updates at this time. For your device to without any problem , it must have all the original software or settings and STOCK.
To begin , let me explain how our devices are distributed to security S -ON to protect your settings and to ensure proper operation. Security on your device has been disabled ( S -OFF) which has allowed the following parameters change at this time prevent the upgrade is installed
cidnum : 11111111 < ---- this parameter will not get your device updates
Here are the options for you:
Option 1 - Return all device settings to their original settings or STOCK. - First you must change the parameters specified as these were originally. Once this is done, now again to contact STOCK install the operating system. At this time, HTC doesn't officially support obtaining S-Off on our devices. Having said that, I'll be happy to take a look at what's going on and at least point you in the right direction. I know this may cause some limitations in the assistance I am able to provide to you but I am more than happy to do what I can to assist you through your issue . We are happy if you contact us about any problems you might, in any part of their development process. .To begin with, the following websites are some examples where we recommend you start your research on S-Off. http://forums.xda-developers.com http://www.androidcommunity.com http://androidforums.com Please note the above web sites are not operated by HTC. We can not validate or guarantee the information contained therein.
Do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions. You can contact us back via email, using the second link listed below (The one at the end of the sentence "To send a reply to this message, please click here"). "
Can you please help with the next steps to get the phone working again.

Asking HTC for support by sharing info that indicates your phone was modded, was a bad idea. Of course they are going to say "we don't support this" and "return the phone to stock".
No need to go back s-on or change CID. Just run the RUU as I mentioned.

USB connection issues are usually due to issues on the PC, not the phone.
Try a different cable, different USB port (as I suggested in a previous post). Install (or re-install) HTC Sync. You may even need to try a different PC (Win7 and USB 2.0 get the best results).
Also, bear in mind that phone needs to be in bootloader-fastboot mode, for fastboot commands to work. Booted into OS or recovery for adb to work.

@redpoint73 Thank you so much, have been able to update the RUU. Updating apps now
Anyone can help me here? So my HTC 10 is the international unlocked version. I bought it from Amazon US and use it in Indonesia.
It worked really fine for more than a month but today something happened.
I turned off the phone and replace the SIM card. When I powered up, it shows only black screen with white htc writing in the center and "powered by android" at the bottom. After a while, there's no change other than the screen turned brighter. It stopped there.
Usually, the normal start up would be green htc logo, and some circles making movement and shapes.
I managed to get into the bootloader screen (volume down, plus power button. And as the logo disappeared, release power button and then press volume up).
Tried to choose reboot, still the same. Tried "reboot to bootloader", it gave the same response as "reboot". Tried "boot to recovery" : nothing significant happened.
Tried "boot to download" : everytime I hit a menu, the screen showed the message that it did the command, but nothing happened after 5 minutes.
Tried to power down, and then charge, the battery percentage didn't show any increase. but it actually charged, because after I entered bootloader and powered off again, charged and then it showed the percentage change. But still not increasing from that later level. And I also couldn't powered on after charge. I had to press volume down and power, to get any response.
What should I do? I suspect major software breakdown even impacted the bootloader? What files can I download (I still confused between RUU, ROM, firmware) to restore my phone. Hopefully it can be done without having to unlock bootloader etc.
Right now it's still "LOCKED", "S-ON", "Software status : Official"..
I just want to restore.. Older firmware will be no problem, as long as it can function normally again and I can update OTA from thereon.
Thank you

I haven't had the experience to do all that.
The best clue right now is that in download mode, with SD card installed, the system was looking for a 2PS6IMG.zip file. I found one that I think from a trusted source. Can I just use it, or it will be a problem if the model don't match?

You will need your CID and MID to match. They're both listed in download mode. Also check your OS version on same screen. Paste them here and I can probably help.

I can't get more data, because even in download mode, after for example choosing one of the option, the screen just stay the same and do nothing.. And I have to press volume down + power again to get into the fastboot screen
But as I had the 1.80.709.1 I can assume that mine would be CID: HTC__621 | MID: 2PS620000
Because all ages still original, updated via OTA, never been unlocked & so on..

OpenDSP...

You will need the 1.30.709.1 zip from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=74636. Rename it to 2ps6img.zip.

Ok, copied and tried.. After went into the download mode, message in attachment popped up. I hit volume Up button, but nothing happened. I've waited for 10 minutes it didn't indicate any progress whatsoever.
I don't know, may be because I came to this condition, unintentionally (it just went error during startup), maybe some settings aren't correct so the instructions can't be processed? Or it's just my badluck, that even the download mode got corrupted too?
Is there still any hope?

Are you sure you have the correct firmware zip? Can you post a picture of the red writing in download mode. It will show CID, MID and OS version.

Ok.. Please see attachment..
As additional information, when I went into recovery mode, I never had the phone image with triangle and exclamation sign. What I had was phone with red QUESTION mark. Then, when I press power + volume Up, the message appeared (see attachment also)

You will be able to flash firmware using fastboot. Strange you have no factory reset option. Can you post your question in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/stock-stock-collection-recovery-ruu-ota-t3359297. And link to our conversation. I think something else is going on with your phone. The experts in there will be able to help you better.
HTC One M9
Android 6
Bootloader Locked
S=On
USB debugging disable
today I found my phone stock on decryption screen! I did not enable encryption mode. now my phone says: your phone is encrypted. to decrypt your phone, enter your Screen lock password.
it does not matter what number I enter! every number I enter, it says: Decryption unsuccessful. the password you entered is correct, but unfortunately, your data is corrupt. to resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account.
But nothing happened when I press the "reset phone" button. I waited 4 hours but it remains on a window named "Factory data reset, Rebooting..." but it can not proceed to reboot.
when I power off and go to bootloader, I can not go to recovery mode. on recovery mode, there is only a triangle with a red exclamation mark.
I download a stock ROM so I can flash it to my phone from download mode, but at the beginning of flashing process it comes with this error
12 RU_ZIP_ERROR
please help me

This problem has been posted from time to time by other users - it often indicates a corrupt chip in the motherboard.
Depending on your SKU and whether or not there really is a hardware issue or not, it may be possible to apply a RUU, which would effectively restore your phone to factory state (though it will wipe your internal memory).
Please post your OS version, which will help us determine your phone's SKU.
If you put the phone in download mode and plug it into a pc then run fastboot.exe with the cli command 'fastboot getvar all' you will get a lot of important information.
If you are absolutely sure your phone has never been modified and it shows on the fastboot output "status modified" then you can assume your phone has hardbricked from a faulty nand. Only HTC can fix it in the case.

I took my m9 to HTC service center. he said that main chip must be replaced. after replacing the chip, he said that I need a dump.bin file and I do not have it. now after 3 months, my dear m9 is still on the service center . I search all over the net for the dump.bin file but there is nothing at all.
I do not even know what the hell is the dump.bin file. he said that your phone can boot but it will not have antenna without relevant dump file. I'm confused please help me
my phone model ID: 0PJA100
Did you give your phone to an official HTC service center? HTC should have the needed file so the fact that you should provide it to the service center confuses me a bit.
It's impossible to get that file (from a working phone) without a JTAG device and I doubt that many M9 owners have one since they're quite expensive. Sorry for the bad news.
