HTC ONE M9- Viper One OTA? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Viper One OTA
So im running viper rom 3.50 however keep getting a notification about an OTA from ATT. I always say no (even tried blocking all OTA updates) but its always coming up, eventually rebooting into recovery. I know Viper says it has OTA.... so is this OTA from them. I dont know how an OTA works for a custom rom?

no idea.....go to the viperone rom post and send a pm to the developers..

It's been discussed in the thread. You'll need to disable two apps I think. Better off searching before asking. Htcdm and something else.

I have been searching, but keep coming up with nothing. Also I cant post in the forum page cuz im a newbie here. :/

Been a month or so since I ran Viper but had the same issue when I was on it. First off, you need to go to Settings > Apps, look for Htcdm, force stop it and delete the app data and cache.
After that, use either a root browser and delete the HTCDm folder from /system/app completely, or if you're weary of doing that (I did it with no harm when I ran Viper) you can freeze the app with TitaniumBackup. Your choice.

Seriously? you are encouraging him to PM (aka Private Message) the developers, for something that has already been discussed... not to mention the devs are not on AT&T.

[REQ] Anyone has stock recovery for Virgin Mobile USA One V?

Looked around and found nothing, guess the phone is too new.
I made this mistake of flashing CWM of GSM One V onto my VM One V, and while the phone still works now, the recovery crashes every time I attempt to use it - and I did not backup the recovery =( Anyway, I figured that this will be useful for other owners of the VM One V as well, so:
Does anyone out there have the VM One V, and have the means to extract its recovery partition? Can you post it? It'll be very helpful for the purpose of general reversibility of all kinds of hack. Much thanks in advance!
Just for reference, my software ver. (as displayed in the About page) is 1.08.652.6710RD.
I wish I had read this before... I just did the same thing :S
Could you upload your boot.img I screwed mine up...
I think Sprint is also cdma. Go to football's rom collection for Primo below, download the Sprint RUU and extract the recovery.img.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591059
I'll report back within a couple minutes
The recovery works!! So much thanks CafeKampuchia (and Football)! I totally did not notice the "VM" in the name of the Sprint ROM =X
In case people find digging through the RUU too much trouble, here's the Virgin Mobile USA HTC One V 1.08.652.6 signed recovery for your convenience.

Will post the boot partition soon if RFrancis, or anyone who would PM me their email, is willing to test it. Don't want to post a faulty image, ya know. =)

[Q] Phone won't ring

Help
I have a weird issue with my One-X. Phone has original HTC ROM, works Ok, but it wont ring when I receive a phone call. It vibrates but won't ring.
I tried restarting the phone and it solved the problem for a while, but now I have the issue again. I restarted the phone again but it didn't work this time
Do you guys think it is a ROM or hardware problem?
I think may be updating the phone with a custom ROM may fix the problem, but I am not sure
What do you recommend?
Edit:
Is your bootloader locked?

Is the bootloader still locked. If so make a backup with the app carbon and perform a factory reset from the bootloader !
Did you install any apps that might interfere somewhere ?

Don't recommend a custom rom right away, even a stock rom should not give this kind of behaviour. And when he is still locked he has warranty. When he unlocks the bootloader, try a custom rom and it is a hardware issue with the speaker he is screwed because he voided the warranty !
I installed Avast! Mobile Security.. do you think it can cause this issue?
Well i would take out all possibilities, uninstall all apps that you installed lately, reboot and check again. Otherwise i recommend the factory reset from the bootloader menu

Yeah, you are right thats the reason I asked if his bootloader is still locked.
Its not a good advice to unlock bootloader when having a HW prob.
But if its already unlocked, why not try a custom rom?

Well then its more wisely to cut away the comment about custom roms, because some people will take the advice as plain common and do it right away ! ...........and .......pooooof .....bye bye warranty

My HOX does the same: for about three weeks it begun to rest in silence (especially mornings). Usually the reboot solves the silence-problem, but not always. Isn't it possible, that the phone has problem with the sound driver? Or the phone works otherwise than a pc?
The interesting thing is, that my father's HOS did the same, and he had to do a hard reset, to get the sound back on his phone.
Hope, that's only sw problem, and will be solved with the future update(s).
Any good adwise?
Yeah....do a factory reset from the bootloader menu
But you loose all apps and settings, so be careful !

My Phone no longer boots - completly my fault , can someone help please

Hello I really hope someone can help me.
My phone did the htc one x update (sense 5??) yesterday and i decided to wipe my phone to give it a fair chance to impress me.
as i was copying files over something got corrupt and i lost all my photos, i downloaded various apps to "undelete" but all needed root access.
I never wanted to root my phone but these photos are very important and can never be replaced now.
I used HTCDEV and unlocked the bootloder and the undelete apks still didnt work.
I followed instructions from some youtube video (i know .. like i say i know this is my fault) and then phone no longer boots
I can get into CWM etc and have installed 2 roms that i had downloaded from here and a nandbackup from here and still get same results - nothing
could someone please help me fix my phone (i have accepted i have now lost all my stuff)
thank you for your time and patience
larry.
Same boat, different quarters
looks like you and i have almost identical issues, perhaps the chap that helps you can help me as well.
htc one x, with rogers, with clockworkmod installed, nandroid backup already created.
so, my phone is rooted, has been for awhile. i attempted to install a version of cyanogen mod about half an hour ago using hte fastboot flash boot boot.img command.
it seemed to go fine
my phone can no longer boot past the htc screen. it appears to be trying to boot into recovery, but failing for some reason.
i tryed restoring my nandroid backup, no sd card detected. as anyone responding ot this will know, one x has no SD, but does have an internal SD partition. i couldn' even select my nandroid to restore it.
ive been searching for an HTC ruu to run without sucess, ruu's are only available for the US ATT model.
any help is welcome. thanks in advance.

You were on stock Sense 5 4.2.2. So you are on HBOOT 1.72. When you unlock the bootloader and root the phone, the process wipes everything on your phone and your SD storage. So that's why you lost all the photos and everything. But if you have that data backed up somewhere on cloud, you can get it back.
Now as far as the phone not booting, you have CWM and you can get into it. Do you have superuser installed?
As you are on HBOOT 1.72, not every ROM can be flashed into your device now. Plz check the ROM if it can be installed on your device.
If it can be, a boot.img has to be flashed and then the zip can be flashed via CWM.

You lost your data is due to the fact that you unlocked your bootloader for the very first time. There is a prompt saying that you will lose all your data and advice you to back it up. Which probably you didnt that is why this results.

I just got the update notification this morning, so don't feel totally left out if you don't have it yet. It must be a somewhat slow roll out. It does feel snappier in my limited usage so far, although the Antutu score is about 1000 less than before the update.
I thought this thread was about rooting 5.1.1, not how to get it, though I may be wrong.
Yeah I thought that's what it said when I clicked it, I guess we were mistaken.

Obtaining Root/unlocked BootloaderU

So kinda glancing around and trying to dig, it seems if you order the phone from Google Store, you can unlock bootloader and root on any OS. If obtained from Verizon, you cannot root if it already has 7.1.1? Is this statement correct? So it seems to best order it from Google Store it seems?

You have it exactly right.
I just came across the same consensus. If it helps, I have the Pixel XL 128 with Verizon, version 7.1.1 and my build is NOF26V.
The verizon pixel xl's are still shipping with NDE63P, which is 7.1 and still not patched against depixel8. So for the time being you can get one from either.

Not from what I've seen. People all over are saying the Verizon units are now shipping with 7.1.1. Get it from Google if you want to be able to unlock.
I wont argue that, i received mine in early feb, the 5th i think, so it may have changed. So to be safe google is the right choice, i just couldnt pass up the chance to get it for half price, so i took a chance and it paid off. Literally.

Im very disappoint and upset, I got Pixel XL came with 7.1.1 (NOF26V) VZW So, I have been research on the website and mostly They said 7.1 to 7.1.1 "early" It's seem I can't get unlock bootloader anymore, but maybe in the future could be exploit patch?
The answer is maybe, but since the guys that did it before i dont believe are even working on another, i wouldnt get your hopes up.
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Verizon is definitely still shipping them with only 7.1. I just got mine 4 days ago and could see it was wanting to update. I didn't take it because I was trying to unlock bootloader with depixel8. Depixel8 wasn't working i can't remember the error but it was hanging on the first step, trying to push it to /data/local/tmp. I tried rebooting to start over and when it came back up it had 7.1.1 on it and now I can no longer try unlocking or rooting. So you can still get it from Verizon, just don't let it reboot before you get it unlocked
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
I wouldn't even take the risk at this point. Spend a lil more out of pocket and by it directly from Google if you're looking to unlock. Some vzw models are shipping with 7.1.1 now. Would kinda suck to open the box and not be able to unlock. Best bet for anyone is to buy from Google if you plan on unlocking.

Actually looks like you have to use depixel8 to unlock the bootloader in order to flash SU with TWRP, I am hoping I get one that has the older version on it and isn't on 7.1.1

Do not follow anything in that link, it is very out of date. And correct, you can't flash or boot TWRP until the bootloader is unlocked. And you cant root it until you get twrp running
If your Verizon phone comes with 7.1.1 or you update it to 7.1.1 before you unlock it you are done. Up to you if the gamble is worth it, just making sure you know what is what.

This is my plan, skip everything, get into the phone, hope to god it's 7.1, enable USB Debugging and Dev options from Settings...then use depixel8 to unlock the boot loader, then I am lost. Checked around 40 threads on here and have found 10 different ways to root...this is the XDA root :
How to Install SuperSU on your Pixel
As Chainfire mentions in his Google+ post, you will need to first download the boot-to-root images for the Pixel or Pixel XL off of his website. You can click here to download the zip for the Google Pixel, or click here to download the zip for the Google Pixel XL. After downloading the zip, you need to fastboot boot the boot-to-root image, DO NOT fastboot flash the image! In other words, the only command you’ll need for the two devices is the following:
fastboot boot boot-to-root.img
Wait a few minutes, and after a few reboots you’ll be booted up with full root access. Yay!

There are a lot of ways because this phone was so different, so a lot of what you see is the testing and changes that can from that.
So, after it is unlocked update it to 7.1.1 and then:
Download 2.7.9 SR3 SuperUser and copy it to your phone.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
Download TWRP RC3 and copy it to your fastboot folder.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/development/twrp-alpha1-pixel-devices-t3500312
Using other versions than above will bootloop you. Reboot the phone into bootloader mode. Power and Vol down.
fastboot BOOT twrpFilename.img Where twrpfilename.img is the name of the TWRP file you just downloaded. Note is says boot in the command, not flash.
That will boot the phone into TWRP. Select Install and install the SU zip you copied to the phone above. And reboot the phone, done.

The box that the phone comes in has the software version on it. So you'll know before even powering it on. I got my regular pixel last week and it had 7.1.
Best is to disable automatic OTA upon opening the box when you find that you have 7.1. So there is a better chance of getting the exploit to work even after reboots.

Exactly, power on with no sim and skip any set up including wifi. No reason to do any set up as the bootloader unlock with wipe the device. Enable ADB and get to unlocking straight away. No sim and no wifi means there is zero way it can update itself on you.
