External Memory Card swap query - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Zenfone 2 Deluxe ZE551ML 128GB version running stock 5.0
I have been using a Samsung 32GB pro memory card and had moved many apps including games to the SD card. After 1 month of usage, now I have bought a 128GB memory card. I assumed that if I copy all the contents of the 32GB memory card to my new 128GB card, I can just exchange the same and all my apps and games (which I moved to SD card) would be working fine. Well, my idea didn't work and the apps were not recognized by the phone, I put back the 32GB card and the apps work fine again.
So, the only way for me to use my 128GB memory card is to first move all the apps back to internal memory, then insert my new memory card and then move the apps back to memory card? I've got way too many games and apps and wish to confirm this before proceeding!

[Q] reusing SD card from previous phone

Just bought a Play which has come with a 8GB SD card. Previously I was using a Huawei 8220 (Tmobile Pulse) with a 16GB card which is pretty full ... so in reality I think I'll be moving to a 32GB card soon!
Initially I thouhgt I'd just put the old SD card in and reinstall apps etc and work from there ... however looks like the supplied 8GB card already as ~3GB of data on it ... is any of this essential and if its not there does it get auto-installed (I managed to start the phone with the S card not properly reseated and it started talking about needing a card with enough space to install the game when I tried to run FIFA10 ... if I use another card will things reinstall?)
When I get a 32GB card can I just copy contents of both current cards onto it? Or will that just confuse everything! And for now, should I stick to the 8GB card which came with the play and is preloaded with play data or sue my existing 16GB card which has lots of app data on it?

The data on the supplied SD Card is just some tones/wallpers, the sony suite for windows and the asset data for the games that come with the phone. If you don't want the wallpapers and sony suite, you can delete contents, game data can be downloaded anytime by launching the game
I made a copy of the 8GB card that came with my PLAY & also made a copy of the 16GB card that I had with my Samsung Fascinate. I combined both & put all of it on a new 32GB.
So in steps to make best of it...
1) Copy 8GB data to PC
2) Copy 16GB data to PC
3) Clean up anything you no longer need on the 16GB backup
3) Copy 16GB data to 32GB SDHC card
4) Copy & overwrite last with 8GB data to 32GB SDHC card
Now you'll have everything that was given for free from Sony Ericsson as well as what you had previously. I recommend keeping the free games at the very least.
Thanks ... that's about what I'd assumed - just wanted to double check before I did anything stupid!

[Q] Help needed! (MicroSD Card and app2sd)

I'm currently using a Galaxy Note 2. And I'm having issues with my microSD card. Just 2 questions:
1) Is it true that the latest Galaxy phones spoils microSD cards easily?
2) I had previously used mattiadj's memory swap mod to swap external memory to internal memory to put apps to sd. But unfortunately, my 32GB microSD card fried. Now that I've got a new one, when I installed the mod again, my storage details shows both internal and external as 32GB. And files from my phone memory can't be read at all.
Can anyone kindly help me more on the 2nd question? Really depressed to lose all photos and data and now can't figure out how to get that extra memory space. Many thanks!
1) Yes, Note 2 does have some issues with those SD cards, Even mine also got fried...

[Q] SD Card Copy Issue

Hi,
i have a 16 GB Sandisk MicroSD for my SGS4. This card contains lots of music and photos and some games (like solitare, Riptide, Asphalt etc)
Now, i bought a new 64Gb SanDisk MicroSD for SGS4.
i copied all the folders from the 16Gb card and pasted in my new 64 Gb card. Power off the sgs4 and replaced the card and powered on.
phone was successfully booted up and am able to see everything like pics, music etc. but am not able to see any of the games which i moved to the sd card. it says application not installed.
So, my questions is how can i transfer the games also to my new SD card? appreciate your help
Any one please. i tried different methods, but none of them seem to be working.

I think it has to do with something with the sd card partition, because most 64 gb micro sd card has that issue, so you're not the only one, i have a similar issue, where my music is affected and most of my files (besides picture) are unreadable,in addition, try using a rom or kernel with exFat compatiability, and then try and use your sd card and see if some files work, it somewhat worked for me. But i'll be honest, what good is a 64 gb card if we can't use it?

Anyone having issues with running out of Memory?

I had an LG G Pad (got stolen this weekend, GRRR) so I am shopping for my next tablet. my one issue is the 16GB of memory, is it enough, or is apps to SD available on this now? I was running out of space on the g pad even putting what (little) I could on my sd card. Thanks

I have the SM-T325 16gb internal with 64gb microsd card. No issue with sufficiency of internal storage. The OS needed only 3.98gb, my apps totaling 90 used only 2.32 gb and I still have available space of 10.26gb, plus of course the external storage. To top it all, you can move the apps to the external microsd card; it is a built-in capability without requiring the app2sd app.

Thank you very much, great information.
Its a very subjective question. It depends on what you need to put on the tablet storage, and if you can put media, etc. on the removable SD card. If you can put stuff on an SD, just buy a 32 or 64 GB one, and you're good to go.
I personally agree that 16 GB is bit low for devices nowadays. 32 GB would have been great. But the Tab Pro 8.4 (WiFi) was what I wanted, and is only available with 16 GB, far as I can tell. I use it with a 32 GB SD, and its workable.
It has the inherent issue of having 2 external storage. The primary being a partitioned storage in the internal memory which is part of the 16GB of the device. Any app you move to SD would move it to that storage thereby using up the internal 16GB storage of the device. So far I have not found a way to move the app to the real external storage, the removable SD card.
With that being said, installing games that are huge would eat up your 16GB device storage.
Rooted?
If you're rooted, there are many ways to move "apps" (or rather, apps data) to the SD card.
The one I use is FolderMount, available in the play store. It allows to mount a folder from your internal storage to the SD card, so everything happens for the system as if it was internal storage, but the files are saved to the SD card. I do that for my OBB folder (Android / obb) which contains around 20GB of games data currently... And still have 10GB left on my internal storage because of that.

I was trying to avoid root but it seems there's no choice in this case.
One question though before I take the plunge and root, there's another folder under the Android folder called data, should I mount that as well?

Memory and SD-Card Problems

Hi.
My wife has already in use the Nokia 5.1 for a while. At that time we have also used a 64GB SD card and formatted it as internal memory. Thus, just under 80GB should be available as one drive.
However, the additional memory of the SD card is obviously not used, because although almost 60 GB continue to be free, the mobile phone complains about missing memory if you want to make photos or install apps.
The attempt to format the SD card as external memory brought no improvement, especially as apps like the camera can not access it then.
What do you have to do so that the storage space of the SD card is attached to the internal memory and is used by the mobile phone?
Thanks in advance.
