Hi all.
New here so bear with me.
I have a sm-t800 wifi tablet, I want to install kali linux on it. However I cannot change my se linux to permissive. I have tried everything. from the reading I have been doing it appears to be an issue with the kernel. Could someone please point me in the right direction? I need to know if anyone has been able to do this on my tablet and if so how. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Any custom kernel.
If you want a stock kernel and permissive see my f2fs thread.

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to ask if anyone could upload their tun.ko for the said kernel. I'm trying OpenVPN and it is one of the requirement for the program to run.
Thanks a lot in advance!

You can't build a loadable kernel module without recompiling the kernel, hence theoretically you must also change the kernel....
I think that the stock kernel has this model built inside the kernel, so you should be able to just run OpenVPN and it should work, no need to load anything.
If this still does not work for you, look at the FlyKernel from my signature, it should solve the problem for you (if you try it and there are problems let me know on it's thread).
Thanks for the reply! I cant find tun.ko anywhere so I guess it is missing from the official rom. Im getting tired of the stock rom anyway so maybe its time to load up some custom prepared eclair or froyo.;-) i'll try cronos droid as im curious of what divx library is for. Maybe it can paly divx natively? Anyway, thanks again!

I'll try to clarify what I tried to say above: To the best of my knowledge there is no tun.ko in the official ROM. This is the way it should be. And yet openVPN will still work for you. Did you try to use OpenVPN and have some problem with it?
hey, thanks for taking time helping me out.
I was able to install openvpn. I can enable openvpn too, however, may problem is I can't use my openvpn configuration. For some reason, I can't make my openvpn configuration enabled. No error whatsoever. When I click the check mark for the configuration, it just blinks. Here's my hunch, In the tun module settings, there is this option: "path to tun module" which I dont know where to point to since the stock kernel does not have tun.ko. I downloaded a couple of tun.ko that I saw here and a couple of others I found using google. But since these are all not for the kernel that I have, it all didn't work. what do you think should I do?

Ok, I was sure for some reason that openVPN should work well with the stock kernel (personally I don't use VPN so can't really check it myself).
I think your best bet now is to try a different kernel. You can try my kernel from my signature (flykernel) which should work on almost any ROM. Or if you where planning to checkout different ROMs, go for it and hopefully it will work for there.
just finished reading your kernel details and it sounds interesting! I'll give it a try now.
and yea, thanks for the help and for your kernel.
Hi
has anybody compiled cifs.ko for this device? I've googled about for it but cannot seem to find anything...
I'm running stock rom, rooted.
Thanks
Ben
Galaxy Y Duos
And for SGY Duos (S6102)?
I've googled a lot but nothing...
Stock and rooted.
we already have cifs.ko compiled for SGY. its just a little bit unfortunate that only a few of us here know about cifs.ko things. this work is a little bit unapreciated by most user here. you can find the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636181 you'll need a custom kernel/or a modified one with init.d support to properly load the module at boot. you can make a simple script in init.d to load it.
for the duos...currently we only have one developer for sgy duos. we don't have the module for that device at this moment. since the devices are quite similar you can try to load this module in your device. I'm not sure if it will work but trying it won't harm our device.
btw, you already know about cifs.ko so I assume that you're not a noob in android stuff. I'll really appreciate if you put your next question in FAQ thread.
Really desperately need one but i've only been finding ones for SM-P600

Hello, I'm looking for a permissive kernel with loopback device support also. Trying to Chroot Linux on my SGN 10.1 2014 with 5.1.1. I'm currently running rooted with custom kernel from work done by bluecat.
I am unsure what the capabilities of the Kernel are or how to get "permissive mode". The message I get during boot is my kernel is "not enforcing"... but when I run from terminal "getenforcing" result is "enforcing". If I try su setenforcing 0, it has no effect.
It is no fun "browsing all these message threads" looking for solutions. There really should be a "AndroidHackWiki" where instructions/information is provided in a Wiki consolidated information location.... but that would be paradise! LOL.
Links to posts that I am referencing for my kernel:

Link followed for current P605 Lollipop:

Anyone???
Hi Guys,
First off, I have looked around for a solution before posting... I just can't find anyone with a similar problem as mine.
As I stated in the title>
Nexus 7 2013 wifi 16gb flo
Kitkat 4.4.2
I was and still plan to install Ubuntu touch - looks great! However, I didn't want to loose my KitKat, I need it for work. So I researched and found MultiROM which is just what I needed.
I followed this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...tmctr=(not provided)&__utmv=-&__utmk=34826402
And installed this app:
http://click.xda-developers.com/api...iROM v23 - xda-developers&txt=Install the app
I opened up the app, and it prompted me to install a modded kernel, so I did. I now have kernel version:
3.4.0-g20f5923

Problem is I can no longer turn on my wifi, everything else seems just fine.
Any tips?
Apologies if there is a post to address this and I couldn't find it...
Thanks...
Jared.
kernel
Looking around some more, I am convinced that it has to be the modded kernel causing my wifi issue.
Can anyone suggest a modded kernel that will work with MultiROM v23 and fix my wifi issue?
I tried flashing Francos Kernel last night, but it failed to install...
Any suggestions would be muchly appreciated...
Thanks...
You've installed kernel for 4.3 into 4.4.2 system. Latest update to the MultiROM Manager app (v1.106) should choose the correct version by default, it should be "Stock 4.4.1 and 4.4.2".
correct kernel

Thanks Tassadar for taking the time to get back to me, thing is I just let the app decide which kernel... I will try use odin to flash the correct kernel as TWRP will not allow me to flash it.
I'll let you know how it pans out...
Thanks again....
All good again!

Thanks Tassadar! for helping out a n00b like myself...
I installed this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389022
Now downloading Ubuntu touch...
I appreciate your help, and as soon as I can, i'll donate something - have a beer on me
THANKS!
Jared.
Greetings,
I've just begun to delve into Android Development and I've begun to make my own ROM. My main problem is that my computer runs on 32-bit and I need a 64-bit computer in order to build my ROM and to make sure all features are working. I was wondering if any more experienced devs or anyone else would be willing to help build the ROM and help me test features? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

One option is VirtualBox. *Virtualization technology has to be available and activated for this to work. *Here's a link about virtualbox and VT.
Here is a good link for building a ROM.
If this info is not useful maybe someone else has a better suggestion.
Ok I'll try it out.
