Hi
has anybody compiled cifs.ko for this device? I've googled about for it but cannot seem to find anything...
I'm running stock rom, rooted.
Thanks
Ben
Galaxy Y Duos
And for SGY Duos (S6102)?
I've googled a lot but nothing...
Stock and rooted.
we already have cifs.ko compiled for SGY. its just a little bit unfortunate that only a few of us here know about cifs.ko things. this work is a little bit unapreciated by most user here. you can find the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636181 you'll need a custom kernel/or a modified one with init.d support to properly load the module at boot. you can make a simple script in init.d to load it.
for the duos...currently we only have one developer for sgy duos. we don't have the module for that device at this moment. since the devices are quite similar you can try to load this module in your device. I'm not sure if it will work but trying it won't harm our device.
btw, you already know about cifs.ko so I assume that you're not a noob in android stuff. I'll really appreciate if you put your next question in FAQ thread.

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to ask if anyone could upload their tun.ko for the said kernel. I'm trying OpenVPN and it is one of the requirement for the program to run.
Thanks a lot in advance!

You can't build a loadable kernel module without recompiling the kernel, hence theoretically you must also change the kernel....
I think that the stock kernel has this model built inside the kernel, so you should be able to just run OpenVPN and it should work, no need to load anything.
If this still does not work for you, look at the FlyKernel from my signature, it should solve the problem for you (if you try it and there are problems let me know on it's thread).
Thanks for the reply! I cant find tun.ko anywhere so I guess it is missing from the official rom. Im getting tired of the stock rom anyway so maybe its time to load up some custom prepared eclair or froyo.;-) i'll try cronos droid as im curious of what divx library is for. Maybe it can paly divx natively? Anyway, thanks again!

I'll try to clarify what I tried to say above: To the best of my knowledge there is no tun.ko in the official ROM. This is the way it should be. And yet openVPN will still work for you. Did you try to use OpenVPN and have some problem with it?
hey, thanks for taking time helping me out.
I was able to install openvpn. I can enable openvpn too, however, may problem is I can't use my openvpn configuration. For some reason, I can't make my openvpn configuration enabled. No error whatsoever. When I click the check mark for the configuration, it just blinks. Here's my hunch, In the tun module settings, there is this option: "path to tun module" which I dont know where to point to since the stock kernel does not have tun.ko. I downloaded a couple of tun.ko that I saw here and a couple of others I found using google. But since these are all not for the kernel that I have, it all didn't work. what do you think should I do?

Ok, I was sure for some reason that openVPN should work well with the stock kernel (personally I don't use VPN so can't really check it myself).
I think your best bet now is to try a different kernel. You can try my kernel from my signature (flykernel) which should work on almost any ROM. Or if you where planning to checkout different ROMs, go for it and hopefully it will work for there.
just finished reading your kernel details and it sounds interesting! I'll give it a try now.
and yea, thanks for the help and for your kernel.
Hi to all friends.
I just bought an Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 3g sm-311 and I have a request for help.
I just rooted it and it works fine.
In my job they do not use wifi and I am in the need to use internet through my tab 3.
I already own a usb Lan card with asix chipset (AX88772A) that works fine with any pc and mac I ever used. Many people have connect it with OTG cable. It detects it but no drivers re installed in the tablet.
They provide drivers For Android 1.x/2.x/3.x/4.x, Linux kernel 2.6.14 and later that needs to be compiled to kernel.
I do not have the knowledge to do that. Can someone help me out on that and explain how I will put back the kernel ?
I would like to thank everyone in advance .
Best Regards
Anyone ?
Umm.... I think everyone with the 7 inch model of the Tab 3 is having that issue..... Some of us think that it will come through an uupdate or somthing.... Otherwise iv tried to push the persmissions using a xml file which says its detected and thats all....Still dosnt work...:crying:
You can download PPP Widget from the Play Store. Samsung devices lack the Option driver in the stock kernel, so you might need to get that separately. They don't need to be compiled into the kernel. You can have them as loadable modules. The forums on draisberghof.de may provide a link.
The ability to load kernel modules has been removed from the stock Android kernel from Android 4.3 onwards, which sucks, but we can always use a recompiled kernel.
No lack..... do you think that I should contact samsung ?

What have you tried? Did you get the drivers? Samsung will be unable to help except point you at their kernel source, if they do respond.
Please check this thread on the usb_modeswitch forum and request Josh for drivers for the specific kernel for the Tab.

Its too bad that I can nor find a solution. I will be forced to sale the unit and buy a win8.1 tablet like toshiba encore.
Hi Guys, I thought I would make a thread here as i can not seem to be able to find a solution. Rooted my device obviously, everything is fine until I installed a "Kernel" (cant remember author) to overclock mainly then encountered several problems. 1: Wi-Fi has become unstable. It seems to either crash my phone or signal disappears after my phone is on standby for a period of time (variable). 2: My Bluetooth just does not work. At all!! I have not done anything more to my device so the solution (hopefully). I forgot to mention that it is STOCK ROM. I do not wish to wipe my phone clean, i want to find a fix. Possibly a more stable kernel. Overclocking does not want to happen either but the "Governor's, I/O Scheduler's and Underclocking" do work. If there is anything more you guys need to know please ask!!
Looking forward to ideas

It not the root that causing the issue, it the kernel that tried. If I remember correctly there's only two kernel for the S4 mini that allows overclcoking, and one of them has stopped developerment since last year. That leaves the F4k kernel.
He has two different kernels: one for the AOSP/CM (custom) ROM another is also a bit outdated for the default Samsung TouchWiz ROM. Are you sure you've download the correct kernel?

Well to my knowledge I had used the correct kernel....... I never used one from here but I did find a website claiming that F4k has a stock over clocking kernel...... Unfortunately for the life of me I can not find this website. I've managed to overclock with success using a apk. I found on here (performance control) brilliant tool!! Is there any chance you able to post a link to this stock kernel you talk about so I can test myself and report back? Everything else is working without a problem apart from Wi-Fi and bluetooth.

So I've come to a conclusion after many weeks of testing and searching........ Unfortunately the overclock kernel for "TouchWiz" roms is unstable........ looking through forums I can see that F4k has only realised a "test" version....... on the other hand I have found a kernel from Vikinger (if spelt correctly) that's has fixed my issue and is working great... shame it isn't overclocked nor under and has no additional governors..... any one with ideas please feel free to share..... many thanks.

Dude, seriously? If you don't see what's wrong with your question then you shouldn't be playing
with those things. Lot's of reading and learning must you do, hmmm?
Yoda
okay, slightly dickish answer sorry.
you need certain abilities enabled at the kernel/driver level for some of the things you want
to do. which maybe be as relatively simple as patching kernel source and rebuilding or may require
rev-eng'ing proprietary drivers/binaries additionally.
you may be better served to researched a device more naturally endowed with these capabilities,
alternately a device with usb-otg support so you can use a dongle device proven to be
capable of these tasks.
ommmm
So because i used custom rom, this apps does not working?

sort of yes/no because the custom rom contains the software and the kernel is a custom build
it does not necessarily mean that your hardware is capable [meaning the device's capability, the kernel
having the necessary code and if there are proprietary/prebuilt source code unavailable/ binaries and firmware
support files which need to be hacked/engineered.
find out the device id of your wifi hardware and search it's id/name along with the function you are trying to perform.
for example
bcm4334 monitor mode
use the search engine that works for you, read carefully and fully and get yourself trained to follow trails of related/seemingly related
information, no matter how obscure.
good luck, may the schwartz be with you ! :silly:

Hey Guys,
Thank you for any help you may provide in advance, and please know I did a proper search before posting this.
I am currently using Malaysk firmware (April release) and have I am very happy with such a dev.
However there is one thing I would like to do; I would like to completely remove the Xposed framework and any trace remaining of it. (I already uninstalled the framework using the app)
This is due to the fact that the current app of my tv provider gets blocked when it discovers this and I would love to have this functionality back.
Could someone point me in the right direction on this topic?
Thx Again,
Gtrz Ecniv
Did it work before on an older version of Malaysk ROM? There are xposed apps that can prevent apps from seeing a modified system like Root Cloak there was one that you could type in specific modifications not sure the name though. Does a rooted device have a conflict with your app? there are apps that disable certain features or all if root is detected. I'm not sure where Xposed is located on the storage but a simple search in ES File Explorer might find it for you.
Hey bsavoir22,
Thx for the input, to be honest I can`t remember if I ever had it working on a Malaysk ROM however I do know what you are talking about; The Irdetto fix. Unfortunately I have tried and tested that and it won`t work I did have it running on a rooted previous firmware though (Non-Malaysk, rooted Stock GS firmware) in combination with root cloak that`s why I`m suspecting the Xposed framework.
That`s why I am interested in trying to remove the framework entirely as I love the ROMs made by Malaysk really would like all functionality back that I had on my old firmware.:good:
