Htc One M8-"The Image File Is Not Supported And Was Deleted" Error - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The image file image.jpg is not supported and was deleted
Hey everyone. I have an HTC One M8 which is not rooted or anything. Ever since a couple of days ago whenever send me a picture via text message I am greeted with this error and cannot receive the picture. It is quite frustrating. Also potentially worth noting is that I can receive the exact same pictures via facebook chat on my phone without any issues. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Seems it's clear, whatever format the file is, is not supported by the messaging app.
You could try another messaging app from the play store. There are many!
What is the files type, out of curiosity?

ChompSMS Problem on MC2.0

Hey all,
Loving the MC2.0 ROM and its speediness but having a big issue with ChompSMS since I installed it.
Whenever I try to create a new SMS when I press Send I get the following...
"The application chompSMS (process com.p1.chompsms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and I have to force close.
The SMS then shows in the inbox but with just the recipient name, no content and if I select it then it opens up but completely blank, not even the correct recipient selected as shown before I opened it.
If I reply to an SMS that I have received, or send an SMS to someone I have sent one too before via the original Messaging program then it goes through OK.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Russ
Also experiencing the exact same problem after upgrading to Modaco 2.0
Hmm, I just checked it and i have the same problem. Is it gone with MC 2.1 ?
think the problem could be your mmssms.db which is the database of all your txts.
think something mustve changed with how its read in the new rom leak.
Its location is /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
I used root explorer but adb shell should work.
So what do you recommend to do?
rename it mmssmsback.db and enter the messaging program this should create a new one.
I have no idea how to do that? Flashing with MC2.0 was only possible due to nice simple directions, could do with more of the same
I renamed it and it did create a new mmssms.db after a reboot, but ChompSMS is still crashing if I try to send a message.
Thank you anyways.
I have the same problem.

Seems its a problem with chompsms then, looks like an email to the dev may be in order.
That seems weird, I'm no trouble at all using ChompSMS and I'm using MCR2.0. Try doing a wipe and see if that fixes your issue.
I did a wipe before installing MCR2.0. Are you sending your SMS through Chomp service or with mobile carrier?
Same here, I did a wipe before install and am sending through carrier not Chomp service
I'am sending through the carrier. I realised its when you try to initiate a new conversation through chompsms it does a FC but if your smsing in an already initiated conversation it has no problems. I already have conversations with all my contacts thats why I didn't experience this problem at first.
I had the same problem, but after a double wipe, it went away.
edit: never mind.. I had only replied to already started conversations, same as poster above.
I emailed the ChompSMS support pointing them towards this thread, they replied pretty quickly saying they would take a look so fingers crossed
There is a update on market place seems to work for me on 2.2
Strange. I'm having the exact same problem even after Updating to the latest 2.9 Chomp.
Anyone figure out a solution yet?
Yeah still the same problem here too
Are there any alternative SMS Apps like Chomp that you guys would recommend? I'm really loving Chomp except for this little problem.
I have tried other SMS Apps and even the stock app and for some reason, they can't organize my conversations in proper order. Only chomp is capable of listing them correctly.

Problem after nandroid recovery

Hi all.
Having rooted with unrevoked and made a nandroid backup of my rom, I installed OpenDesire Team's Official Froyo HTC Sense ROM and radio on my phone. It worked well and it's the mod I am going to use. Problem is I don't have the time to set it all up now and reinstall everything and put all my settings as I'd like them since I am going to be on a business trip for the next 2 to 3 weeks. So I did a nandroid restore. All well and OK. Except I could no longer see any of my videos. Always an error telling me Sorry, you cannot play this video or whatnot. I rebooted and immediately after reboot I tried to play the same files. The first one started, then froze, and then all video files gave me the same error. Even files I had recorded with the phone. This went on for a few hours till I remembered the damn radio file. Thinking "it can't be that" I dloaded a previous version from the development section and flashed. Believe it or not, I can now play videos. Crises averted... except it's not.
Today I noticed that my Gmail app isn't syncing anymore. I receive mails in real time (pushed to the device) and can open and read them fine. I can even delete them from the inbox (or so it seems), but when I tried to reply to an email I noticed my mail just sat there saying "sending" in those red / pink letters. I tried to compose a new mail and sending that only to find all my composed mails since I had restored were still sitting in my outbox label / folder. And when I accessed Gmail from my PC's web browser, I found that all the mails I had opened in the Gmail app on the phone were still unopened on the servers. And the deleted ones were still there too, untouched. So it seems my Gmail stopped syncing. And I have already checked the settings. All else is working including calendar and contacts.
I have performed over a dozen restores now and tried all radio files in the forum. Nothing worked.
Does anyone have a solution for this issue? Please!!!!! Very urgent I fix it before leaving tomorrow evening.

[Q] MMS problems with pictures

Hello,
I'm new to this forum but have done a google search for my problem. It seems like it's still an ongoing problem that doesn't have a solution as of yet.
My problem/issue is with MMS messages that contain more than one picture. I've got handcent and the original messaging app that came with my droid incredible.
The best way I know to describe the problem in detail is to give an example. Let's say I received an MMS message that contained 10 pictures. With handcent, I would download the message and it would/could come in in different ways. Sometimes it'll only show me the first picture(view thru some sort of picture manager), sometimes it would show me the first and last as some sort of a movie, and then sometimes it would show the entire set of pictures in a movie type format that would last for 1-2 minutes give or take with no way of scrolling from picture to picture. However, unless it shows all the pictures in a movie type format there is no way to view every picture unless I go into the messaging app that came on the phone.
When using the messaging app on the phone the MMS message comes in in 1 of 2 ways. The first is a slideshow that shows every picture with an option to scroll from picture to picture. I'm pleased with this and would like all of these types of messages to come in this way. The second is the pictures come in as attachments. With this I'm only able to view the picture one by one. I have to click on what picture I want to view then choose between "View or save to SD card" then choose how to complete the action by choosing between "View picture or ASTRO Image Viewer".
My question is why doesn't all MMS messages like this not automatically come in as a slideshow where I can manually flip between pictures, either with the messaging app that came with the phone or with handcent? Is this a droid issue, specific phone issue, etc.? Is there a system setting that needs to be changed or a phone update I need to do? I had an LG Dare before this phone and all messages like this came in in slideshow form and I could flip between each picture.
This is the only problem I'm having with this phone. It's rooted and I'm running RR rom. I just want to be able to view each and every picture by scrolling or thumbing through the message. It's just amazing to me that a phone with this capability would have an issue like this
Thanks for any help!

[Q] Messaging Hangs!

Hi, I bought One X approximately a month back, the phone is awesome. But the issue that suddenly started to occur was yesterday when I tried to open up one of my messages, but the screen wont open, instead when I try to open up any specific conversation tab, it keeps on loading and won't show any messages at all from that person. Also after it showed this problem, I am unable to read new texts and even delete any of my texts (it sort of hangs) whereas the other phone features work clearly.
Did a factory reset, restored the backup but still no change. Kindly help me as to what should I do.
THanks!!
I ended up rooting into a custom rom hehe.
Are you rooted?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Ironically it's restoring the backup that is probably why the problem is back. Because you restored the problem too!
Open up the Messaging in 'Manage Applications' and clear cache and data. You'll loose all of your received SMS messages but at least you'll be able to use Messaging again.
If it persists ring your provider and get them to send through your SMS message center settings again.

Try to use go sms or other 3rd party messaging app... I think you've reach the maximum capacity of stock messaging...

Unable to attach file (MMS)

So, I've been using the Note 3 for the past 2 weeks and mms has been working fine. Up until this morning I tried to send a picture but I got the message saying "Unable to attach file" when the night before I sent the exact same picture to someone else. I have tried a restart, that didn't work.
Anyone have any ideas?
I have tried picking a differnet picture to send but now every picture says that same thing.
If it matters, I am using the Google Photos app, not the stock gallery.
I am also not rooted, on stock rom, stock everything basically.
Thanks for your help!
