Hi
So I changed the PIN on my tablet and forgot it. Now I am trying to get in and I cant, I assumed there would be an option to log in with my Google account, but I do not see that option anywhere. There is no forgot password button like most phones for some reason. Is there no option for this at all on this tablet? I've already entered the incorrect PIN 60 times, hoping it would pop up asking me to enter my Google account info but no luck. Is factory resetting the tablet really the only way to get in now??!

Yep. Factory reset is the only option left.

Company owned SM-P605, pin forgotten by employee, I've already tried Odin with stock rom that worked fine (just replaced the Samsung Boot logo with the telco's one) but it is still asking for PIN!
It's not rooted, and I wouldn't want to, how do you FDR with Odin?
Thanks,
P.

OK so my mother decides to buy the same phone I have, the Galaxy Note 4. She thought she'd put on the fingerprint lock, which worked fine, then for some reason, stopped working. She claims she did not set up a backup password, so therefore I cannot see a way to get into the phone. I did find a zip to flash that would supposedly remove the fingerprint lock, but upon booting into recovery and into the option to apply an update from an SD card (I forgot the exact text), it gave me a message that dm-verity verification failed and I could not apply an update from the drive. What can I do to fix this? I don't want to have to FDR, but if that's the only options, I might bite the bullet and do that.

I'm not sure about this but I don't think an FDR will fix your problem either. I remember someone else having a similar issue with the fingerprint reader and after trial and error we figured out that an FDR doesn't touch the files used to manage the reader.
I don't think Fingerprint lock will allow you to use it unless you enter a backup password. In any case, if a factory reset doesn't work, you might try taking it to you mom's carrier and see if they can unlock it for you. They'll be able to identify that the phone belongs to her account and maybe have the tools to reset it. Try giving the carrier a call. Other than that, I have no idea.

Yes, I advised her to take it to the Verizon store where she got it for assistance. She just assumed that I could help her with everything (literally) since she has the same phone...but not that, unfortunately.
You cant use the fingerprint lock without a backup password. it wont let you use it without one, in case the fingerprint doesnt work. If on the lockscreen you see "Enter backup password" that means she entered it. The backup password is 6 character long with a number, it didnt require any caps letter.

Hello guys,
Just bought a Nexus 5x from someone and i can't assign my email, always telling me to use the previous owner mail. The former owner said he reseted the phone from the google account not from the phone itself. From what i read online a security measure has triggered on my phone and i can't do anything about it....he even game me his email/password to use,but that doesnt work eighter.
Is there nothing i can do but wait 3 days? Will i be able to add my email after those 3 days expire?
When did the countdown start? The moment he reseted the phone? He reseted the phone on tuesday night so i need to wait untill friday night for 3 days to pass, but he changed the password to the email today. Will any of this have an impact?
Thank you!

that all sounds a bit strange ... anyway, did you try to hard reset the phone in recovery? after that you should be able to setup the phone for the first use again.
here's a howto for the hard factory reset in recovery: http://www.hardreset.info/devices/lg/lg-nexus-5x-north-america/

Yes i did hard reset still the same.In the "safe mode" it says "Device Locked'.I think the problem originated when he reseted the phone from his google account, instead of phone settings....i guess this is used to lock the phone?Thats why its always asking me for the original gmail account.
Only the original gmail account can unlock it?He previous owner gave me the account today to try,but it didnt work...im confused.

The security feature is called FRP, factory reset protection.
There may be other ways to bypass it but the surefire way is to use the TOT method to completely reflash the phone.

The thread for flashing the TOT is a pain to find so I'll share the link...

When you reset a phone you need to get rid of pin/pattern/password or it will trigger factory reset protection which forces you to install using the account that the phone was originally installed under.
Now if that account changes their password, then there will be a 72hr lockout. Everytime you try to install it will reset the 72hr counter.
I don't believe you can install even with original account/password until the counter has run its course.
Perhaps LGUP will work as mentioned above.
Someone posted this. I don't know if it works.

OK. I searched and found one thread from 2015 about a note 10.1 2014 SM600 being locked with a pin....
unfortunately it's stale and not answered. I hope the guy got his answer somehow.
My daughters ex connected to his Gmail and set a password on her account. I can see her account, and guest, in the top right of the screen.
As I said, he's her EX.... and now she's not been able to access the tablet for a while now.
Is there a way to clear the account password with ODIN or something? Thanks in advance for your help.
John
Guessing nobody has any ideas then?
SO what's the best way to reset it and wipe it? ODIN the firmware back over?? Guidance appreciated.
thanks.

You can try to factory reset by recovery (all data will be lost).
The thread from 2014 you talked, has a poster saying that his device asked for pin even after stock rom flash. If that is the case then I don't know how it is bypassed.
Hello.
A few weeks ago my wife forgot her pin to unlock phone, there was no other choice than just reset phone to factory settings via stock recovery.
Eveything was nice until phone wanted me to log into the previous google account that was used before erasing everything. My wife dont remember password and login either. She created it while ago just to use the phone.
Ive got no warranty for it as I bought it used.
Is there anyway to bypass that security? Otherwise phone cant be used again.
Thank you.

Whoa, you taught me something new today :good:
It's kind of a shame it's specific to the J2 Prime phone, I wonder if there are other methods for other phones similar to this
There is a method of launching a shortcut to settings via an app installation from otg at time of setup. That works.
So I finally have just given up on this phone. I would like to factory reset it but it keeps asking me for my mi account password. When I put it in it says that isnt the valid password. Reset the password and tried again same issue.
The problem is I have a chinese rom and cant log into my mi account because of the phone region lock. Does anyone know any way that I can factory reset and fully wipe this phone before I sell it off to someone else.

Yeah so i go into settings/mydevice/factory reset.
Im asked to put in my pin
Then they ask for my mi account password.
No matter what it always fails. I can use the change password option and change it via email but it doesnt have an effect on anything. It still wont let me in.
Just a heads up im on chinese firmware and joyui 12 20.11.10

Have you sync your mi account? No need to bind the black shark account skip that as soon you finish bind with mi account.afterthat doing that you need format them through recovery mode but as soon the phone back to system load the phone will ask for the activation of mi account.
Did you resolve this? And what country you from?
Yeah I finally got through. For some strange reason I had two black shark accounts on the phone. One tied to my email and one to my local number (idk how that happened since the only option was the chinese area code). Phone has been factory reset and packed away in the box it came with. Where it will stay until i get it sold.

Don't sell it...try unlock bootloader then install global rom ...not global beta but legit global rom through TWRP recovery.
