I need to root my phone (Wildfire S) (Android 2.3.3)
NB : my S-ON
how can I get S-OFF ??
please tell me in details what should I do to S-OFF & root it ??

I have wildfire S with android 2.3.3 and HBOOT menu 0.90.0000 S-ON
I want to ask is there a way to gain S-OFF and root the phone somehow
i am trying with revolutionary but mi HBOOt menu is lower and i dont know is there a way to upadete it to 1.01.0001
people say that the S-OFF is gain with XTC-Clip but dont know if there place where i can buy it

I think S-on means that the nand is locked, soff means its unlocked

Have you at least tried to read the other threads/topics?
There are LOTS of people that need to root their WFS.
In order to root you need to S-OFF (turn off security in laymans terms) your phone that is something only possible (at least until now) with a hardware device called "XTC Clip".
If you Google "XTC Clip" you will find lots of info on this subject, stores selling them, etc.
Rule of thumb, first search (really take some time reading) and then ask if no other person has already posed the same question.
What you want is what most of the XDA community WFS owners want.

S-ON = Very difficult to root
S-OFF = Easy to root
(these aren't actually the meanings. But it's a simple explanation.)

You got 3 options wait for official unlocked bootloader, buy xtc-clip, or find an unlock shop, because no one here is gonna help you. Me personally i'm taking my phone to unlock shop soon, if and when I do get unlocked I will do my best to help everyone.
This phone has a lot of potential and theres alot of developers out there that would love to have this phone, unfortunately locked bootloader is a major factor in there decisions. The sooner we get unlocked the better.

I don't have this phone myself but my girlfriend got it yesterday so it's kinda like a new toy for me too. I might have to convince her to get it S-off'd at a local unlocking shop so I can tinker with it
It's shame there's no unlocked bootloader for it though... I bet HTC would sell a lot more units if they didn't lock them.

Follow this to downgrade you Hboot from 1.03 to 0.9.

What is the version of your Hboot ? Your operator and your Rom ?

It's been covered many times... to get S-OFF you need to use an XTC Clip.
As for a guide and what ROM to use, that's covered in this section and the Development section

ROM is Vodafone UK and sorry if it is well covered else where but its nice to find out peoples experience with the time and installing them and what method as we all want a one click and go if possible

Hi i am from Bangalore(India) from last 2 month i was searching for shop that makes my wildfire s unlock(XTC-CLIP) and at last found it..... so sharing his name and address if any one need it just contact him. I just paid 300 rupees to get S-OFF my phone.He just made it within 10 mins..... He also sells XTC-CLIP for some 1600 rupees...

I've called up Gururaj and he confirmed that he has the XTC-clip and he charges Rs.250 to S-Off the Wildfire S. I have to go there and get it done this evening. Will again update once it is done.

I just got rid of my HTC S-ON by Gururaj Keni and am on my way to get the custom roms!!
Gururaj is knowledgable person and he knows the things very well.
I had a chance to meet and discuss few things cleared. He charged 250/- and I suggest to meet him to get your HTC S-OFF!!!

i m a total noob at android flashing and programming... i jst got my device S-OFF and rooted... can anybody tell me wt cn /shud i do next ??

The s off is good, rooted my phone and installed jikantaru rom. The mistake I did was to make a copy of my stock ROM :-(.
I did backed up my wildfire s stock ROM on the phone itself and did wiped the device. :-(
Jikantaru ROM is good but every now nd then it starts rebooting on its own. As of now downloading Europe marvel stock ROM and will try to flash to get it back to work as normal. Will keep you posted.

I updated my wfs to Europe marvel Rom. It's the same as of India wildfire s. Now I can play around time again..

I have read than some guys have super CID and s-off device. Is it possible ? I thought that it's impossible because we haven't got source code from HTC. Can someone explain it for me ?

There's some people in China with special equipment to give us S-OFF and some people already had S-OFF when they got their phones.
