You got 3 options wait for official unlocked bootloader, buy xtc-clip, or find an unlock shop, because no one here is gonna help you. Me personally i'm taking my phone to unlock shop soon, if and when I do get unlocked I will do my best to help everyone.
This phone has a lot of potential and theres alot of developers out there that would love to have this phone, unfortunately locked bootloader is a major factor in there decisions. The sooner we get unlocked the better.

I don't have this phone myself but my girlfriend got it yesterday so it's kinda like a new toy for me too. I might have to convince her to get it S-off'd at a local unlocking shop so I can tinker with it
It's shame there's no unlocked bootloader for it though... I bet HTC would sell a lot more units if they didn't lock them.

Question about Orange, radio flashing and simlocking..

Hi All.... been reading and very confused about simlocking on Orange...
Basically, I've updated to 32.37.00.32 and got simlocked (was expected) used unlock code and all work happy again... now I'm thinking of going froyo and need to go to the latest radio, my questions are...
Will I get simlocked again?
and (if) can i reuse the code I bought?
Lots of posts about this subject but nothing that seemed to match my situation.. any help / personal experiences very welcome

It might sim lock you again, but just enter your unlock code and you are good to go.
Shouldn't SIM lock you out again, just done this myself today.
Thanks for the replies guys never like to blindly flash away!

[Q]Desire HD Latest Software Build?[Q]

Hi there XDA, I've asked a similar question to this before, however since then some things have changed and it's got me wondering, what the hell is going on over at HTC with these software build numbers?
I recently aquired a replacement phone from Orange UK for a Desire HD. The software version on the phone I sent to them was 1.32, however the phone I recieved was running a software version of 1.72, I know for a fact that when I sent that phone to them, there were no updates available, and the thing is, it's a door to door thing. Both handsets are exactly the same, they are both de-branded yet have an Orange logo on the back.
It's sorta fustrating because I know that one of these builds i clearly the one I should have, but I don't know which is which, would someone be kind enough to explain and point me in the right direction of the ROM i should flash? Thanks, and btw im in the UK.

If you want to root etc it would be easier on the 1.32 version but is still easy to do on the 1.72 version, you just use a different approach.
All the answers you need are in the development forum. Don't need to put a link here for you, it's not hard to find. Alternatively, use the link in my sig.
What ROM you SHOULD flash is up to YOU. YOU decide what one YOU like the most.

Didn't really want a sarcastic approach to this but ok :/ I heard that the 1.72 update was pulled, I don't want a rooted phone, I want the most upto date possible...

Your in luck, if you do not want to root, and have a unbranded handset you can have official HTC Gingerbread. An HTC RUU with the upcoming 2.3 release was leaked.
Check THIS thread and download the RUU.exe

HTC Hasn't Unlocked WFS Bootloader - Tell them what you think!

The HTC development website (http://htcdev.com/bootloader/) says,
All HTC Android devices launched after September 2011 are unlockable. The website will be updated accordingly to reflect this in the coming weeks. We continue to work on models launched prior to September 2011, please check back often for the status of older devices.

So where does that leave us WFS owners? As of right now, in limbo until they decide to release our bootloader.
So what can you do about it? The page also says,
HTC is committed to listening to users and delivering customer satisfaction

So, head on over to the comments page (http://htcdev.com/contact) and let them know what you think.
But remember that HTC is an organization of human beings, and human beings generally don’t respond well to “Hey, you jerk-faced idiot! Do us all a favor, would you?” So do be polite.
???
Why u post that? And create a new useless thread too.
Wildfire S released in April 2011, and they said, that they unlocked all devices released after September 2011.
Now they working to unlock the others. So wait for HTCDev or help us to find a software solution to set s-off.
If they unlock bootloader u will see that in the s-off topics.

Another useless thread. I think HTC know perfectly well what WS users think about their policies of locking bootloader, but they don't give a f##k.
So, let's help our devs who are working hard on finding a solution for our well known problem.
And please stop opening useless threads!!!

They are going to unlock it, it's just going to take a millenium.
The WFS will have to get a OTA, get the fastboot command for htcdev to work

Oneil... The threads aren't going to end. Better to focus on S-OFF and let them flood in until it's achieved.
Do this S-off Wildfire S?
Afaik, the HTC-Dev method of unlocking the bootloader still leaves you with S-ON, however it lifts the protection of the system, boot and recovery partitions.
Yep unlockable as of now
I told you so!!
Great news.
You guys make me laugh. Then:

[Q] Sim Free Unlocking for DHD

Hi,
I've had a look through the threads already and couldn't find anything that would've been of any use to me.
Anyways, I'm getting a DHD from my brother soon seeing as he's getting a contract upgrade in the next month but the problem si that it's locked on 3 and i'm on T-Mobile.
So, I was wondering, is there a simple and easy way to unlock the phone myself? The Samsung Galaxy S2 has an app that will generate an unlock code for it but I couldn't find anything similar for the DHD.
Would really appreciate the help
Thanks

Hi, and welcome to XDA.
There is a tool to SimUnlock your handset, you can find it here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9524174#post9524174
However, if the handset came with Gingerbread (2.3) then there is a chance that it can jam up your HBOOT and cause booting issues. However it is recoverable, so it might be worth running the SimUnlock then restoring your handset.
Hi,
Thanks for the help, i'll give it a shot when i can. The phone came with Android 2.2 and was then upgraded to Android 2.3 when it was released. Will this affect it?
5H1R42
No, that is good. You will need to downgrade to use this tool though.
Once that is done you shouldn't have any issues. Feel free to PM me if you need further help, or just post here.

Not sure where you meant to post this but the highest HTC software version the vzw has is 3.X.X. There's still no software exploit for the m9 either so even if you somehow could downgrade there's nothing to downgrade for.
Thinking you are an m8 guy?

Nope not the m8 guy. i just bought my first htc phone since my last one about 12-15 years ago. i honestly did not know what to ask. that is why i am asking here. i have been a Samsung Galaxy person so long. HTC is all new to me again. I was hoping that if i could downgrade then i would be able to root my phone so there would be less headaches. I almost feel like a total noobie here.

OK. So no software exploit. There's a Java card thread in the general section where you can locate users who might be close enough to meet up or that you can ship your phone to in order to get s-off.
