First off: I am NOT asking/telling developers to hurry up. I totally respect that ROM development takes time and will gladly wait for the next releases. I am simply curious about a pattern I noticed.
In early August it seemed like ROM releases were more frequent (5-7 days) whereas for PA and Slim we haven't seen a release for almost 20 days. I hope developers can appreciate my question, because instead of asking when the next release is I'm wondering what's been preventing the next release. CM has had the same bugs for almost a month as well, is there some driver that's faulty? Something that has been a PITA to get to work on our platform? Something we are missing? Just curious more about what challenges are causing a hold up, but other than that dev will get to them when they get to them and I'll just be waiting
Thanks for all your hard work devs, hopefully knowing what's been going on behind the scenes can help people to find it in themselves to have patience!

CM has a buildbox so they can do daily automatic builds. I'm using my laptop so I have to manually do builds that take 5+ hours each. I've been a little busy lately but i did just release a build last night. I also build alot of other ROM's for our device and other devices so sometimes it'll take a bit of time between releases.

At first i would like to thank all guys in the community that worked for it and making this possible - you all are doing this for fun and not for a salary, you all are idealists.
But, especially to kyphur, how it will goes on now? Bug fixing or releasing the one we really wanted?
Almost everybody, me too, flashed a WM6 version either Vanilla or v0.01 and is now sreaming that this is and that is not working. Of course it is a little bit frustating but why you should give up the primary goal - the building of a stable and note beta based rom - for bug fixing?
Now the first WM6 rom is out, the issue with the unnamed source of the "real" in difference to the "beta" rom steps more and more in the background and the time for releasing the real rom, as you wanted to do it, comes closer and closer.
I think it would be a much bigger effort to work on the real rom and checking the dangerous items in it, than doing that bug fixing.
As more you concentrate on this as faster it will be there and, in the end, when we have it, nobody will uses the bugfixes anymore.
other opinions?
I have not abandoned the original Rom Base for WMXL. It is still there and I still want to release a version based on it or it's predecessor (such as an approved for official release carrier Rom).

Great, thank you and in case that you did not not recognized my pm´s, just delete them.
You´re great!
I say head on to the final release. There are enough guru's here who can figure out how to fix those niggly little bugs, but there's only Kryphur with his finger on the crossbow ROM...
Absolutely,
No other e.g. the same opinions?
I, too are anxious to see the original wm6 rom development coming around at some later stage. I can understand the recent hype though, since I also use my Hermes both as a tech toy and as a work system being torn between these both "system states" often enough. The advent of a stable productive version would surely make my day and I believe the original devt. was a better chance in this direction. For the time being, I am quite content with playing around with what is availeable as of now, knowing that I can always revert to my 'stable' HTC Test rom.
So many great possibilities have surfaced in just the last couple of days, that I am quite sure soon we will basically be able to find solutions for everyones different needs and priorities here.
I for one am definitely keeping an eye out for k's original rom project.
Thank you for your effort and support.

I agree with apokryphus's premise, which needed to be expressed. I am sitting back waiting for the "original" ROM that kyphur promised. I use my device for work and play, and don't have time or motivation to be squashing bugs all the time When I flash, I want to have a working system that I won't have to constantly return to the forum to find bug fixes for, and I know there are many out there like myself.
Now, friend Kyphur, you are stuck with trying to field all the posts in the "Issues" thread, while at the same time working on the original goal. Did you guys see how heated the thread got at a couple of points?
A thousand thanks, Kyphur, I admire (but don't envy) you! Just don't let the furor raised by the "early release" sidetrack you, PLEASE! "
BZ" as we used to say in the Navy: "Bravo Zulu" (signal talk for "Well Done.")
Best regards to you and your collaborators.
Ben, deported from Chi-Town to Florida.
In according to duttys "rom koch" all we need at last is a stable and original rom then we will have all we need to cook our own specified rom with appz we want and without those we do not want.
I think when kyphur will release his genuine rom, we will have one of the best devices - with out gps - that we can have!
Now that the official Froyo has been released what more can we expect with these ROM's? I dont think much more can be done with the Kernel until the source is out. I'm still new at all this so I'm hoping you guys can give me something to keep me refreshing this site every hour like I have been! Its really been fun! I'm just not sure what more there is left to be done.
As problably everyone know, the ICS source code has been released. Just asking (no pressure and not trying to speed things up) but is anyone already working on a ICS ASOP ROM?
Thanks to all the developers for their work.
I don't think so, you should probably get on that.
Lol^^^^good reply.

is it not enough knowing cm9 betas will be out in a few weeks? he stated the team had the source code and was getting working on it. i'm sure plenty of other devs are looking at it too. they haven't replied cuz they are too busy working on it.
be patient. we will have ICS.

I cooked one up last night, but my porting skills suck! I'm pretty good at getting boot loops, but beyond that, not so much.
It took about 85 mins to build from source, while gingerbread takes about 30 mins on my machine. The build directory takes up about 23Gb so far. Gingerbread is 6Gb-15Gb, depending on the flavor.
I just ordered more ram, but it's not enough for a ram disk... I'll just have to throw more hard disks or maybe even an SSD into my box.

Well, thanks at least starting the process up CM9 is in "2 months". That says cyanogen....
I actually started working on a build last night just for fun, but so far it's been a slow process. Besides my unfamiliarity with the Android source tree and build system, I've been having to patch around a lot of issues with compiling on Ubuntu 11.10.
It'd be fair to say that I don't actually know what I'm doing, but it gives me something to do.
Yea the thing that I assume is happening is that the devs that are all working on it and are well known for doing good work are probably keeping quiet on their work and progress so that they don't get 100000 people spamming them with questions and requests... It's a shame cause it'd just be nice to know the progress just to know but there are impatient people who would just spam the hell out of them and piss them off :/ ah well guess we'll see it when we see it haha
Nonetheless, thanks to all who are currently working on it even though they are hush hush
Just wondering, someone on the TMO forums told me that always toss in a couple months extra on any timeline giving for a release of a rom by devs. Still kind of new to the whole thing on the SGSII, but from your experience has cyanogenmod been pretty good at meeting there announced goals? Of course I am talking about CM9, but I am just wondering so I don't get my hopes up. I know they said 2 months which would make the release some time this month, but how are they with meeting announced goals?
Not sure where you got your info but official CM never provides ETAs. Its ready when its ready. I know this doesn't help you but that their policy.
correct
the first thing you should learn is
you NEVER ASK for ETA to any DEV, specially CM Devs, unless you want them to stop Dev on your device
I caught that really fast my day on the forum, this post was not meant to ask for a ETA but more so ask how well is there turn around time on past etas that they have giving? I know they work really hard for all of us to make these rom and I have so much gratitude for that. Not just referring to CM9 but have they giving a ETA in the past like this? If so, how good are they are meeting those ETAs in the past? Personally I would rather wait a little longer if it means a quality rom.

Thats why I am curious. On there site they announced it would be 2 months from November, but my thoughts were that was for our rom for our device. Didn't realize at the time that they support more than one device. Who knows, no worries.
let just say any time you hear, or even they mention in their own website are never correct
that's their best guess, but in the end every one got their real life to deal with before they deal with the ROM development
the longest hiatus was when CM himself was just hired by Samsung, and there was almost 4 month without any activity when he was moving from one side of the country to the other to start working for Samsung
Yeah, I remember when he got hired it was all over the web. Well, good to hear thanks for the feedback guys. Not trying to nag or anything.
the long waited tegra 2 ics is now available so means the drivers to put HWA into function is available too...is it mean that a full working CM10 (or jellybean) rom will be developed soon seems all the crucial drivers are available now...
but 1 thing i found that there are less strong or experienced developers are using the glide as their phone and cause us have less power custom roms and kernels...
maybe we need to promote our phone to those optimus 2x and galaxy r developers...they have strong devs there...cause the devs were using those phone which is much popular and familiar than the glide, but they have lower hardware spec, no keyboard and with 512 only ram...and the devs did a good job on optimized them...
i believe our phone will be freaking STRONG if there are numbers of devs willing to optimized it...

Yes but people are usually interested in the hardware they have purchased. So how do you get someone who does not have the hardware interested in helping us out? Please recall even DMan had someone lone him a phone for him to help out. The glide is a great phone but unfortunately has not sold as much, as other popular phones.

maybe we can gift a GLIDE to devs like owain94 from optimus 2x or arcee...they are strong devs and they have a real good base knowledge on tegra 2 device...
We have dman workng on a rom as we speak... this should of been posted in the general section to btw
I suspect he is but has dman said he is working on a new ROM? I'm curious if he is making his own ROM or porting CM. I think Inception was just a stripped down official version of 2.3.5. I would love to see a CM 10 port and not just a repacked stripped ROM.
Oh my gosh with all the discussions about this. BE PATIENT. You all have no idea how much time it takes. Take a look at Inception. It took 1 week just to theme. If you want a stable, JB rom for bounty, the Collective doesn't release half ass working JB builds. Take a look

Jellybean will be coming soon.. but only when its stable.. no need to release a half ass working build.. just an update.. we are known for stability, not for being the first to the finish line, quality is our goal...

Please forgive me, I'm sorry for being harsh but I've seen so many threads about this in such a short period of time. Dman and his team the Collective dev for 4-5 devices. I've been learning dev for 6 months and so far all I can do is basic tweaking to apks and decompiling them, as well as putting them in a zip.
Seriously. Just be patient, some of you. Reported for moving, btw
P.S:
This is not a port. It's compiling from source. 10 times harder and time consuming. But less chance for bugs.
P.P.S:
Inception was made without the device. It would've been near impossible to build AOSP blindly. (AOSP is pure, vanilla, Android)
P.P.P.S:
This is not an opinion poll. The devs make it how they like it, you're lucky they post it for you. They could just keep it to themselves. Feature requests are always good, but not "I like CM but I don't want a stripped modified ROM"
Thanks
After having spent the past 5 hours flashing various kernels/ROMs in my gf's xperia x10 mini pro due to various bugs, I will have to agree - in the end, stability is a must, and I am certain dman is working his magic as we speak, no need to get impatient

Everyone is being patient. Were thankful to have any devs working on this device. I just havent seen any posts directly from dman about what he's working on for the Glide. I could have missed the post, thats why I asked. But it would be cool to see a post directly from him about it and not just speculation.
Thread moved
No matter how patient everyone is being, these types of threads still keep getting started in Development. They do not belong there. They belong in General. Keep them in general. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please, everyone, just take a sit, grab a drink, and wait for dman to do his magic
I'm all for quality over a rushed job. Dev'ing is hard, especially for an under-popular device like our own. Fewer fellow devs to help out and carry the load, and more people putting the pressure on because they're impatiently excited.
Give the devs their time, it will be alright. I'm still happy with INCEPTIONv1, more so than the leaked ICS.
