Has anyone experienced issues charging their GS6 Edge+ with Samsung's Wireless Charger (EP-PG9201)? I own two of these and used them with my GS6 Edge (non-+) without issue. Picked up the Edge+ yesterday and charging is erratic on both pads. I see that other users have reported similar problems (see below for links), but none of the comments proffer answers that I find acceptable. I am most interested in hearing whether you think this might actually be a hardware issue that is effecting some of the new devices (but not all) and whether I should therefore replace my phone while still within my 15 day window with T-Mobile. Responses from those with both the Edge+ and the Samsung Wireless Pad noted above would be greatly appreciated. I will also note that some users have experienced problems with the phone not recognizing the OEM Fast Charger (I do not presently have this issue) and am thinking that perhaps that the fast charger problem and the wireless charging issue might be somehow related (e.g., perhaps there is something wrong with the power circuitry on these devices). See below for more details on the wireless charging issue.
In short, more often than not, the phone simply doesn't charge. It connects to the charger for anywhere from 15 seconds to 5 minutes, then disconnects and the Samsung Wireless Charger blinks blue which is code for "hey buddy I'm not charging there is something wrong". Per other XDA forums, this problem also appears to be creeping up with the Note 5 (see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/help/wireless-charging-issues-t3185669/page2
The most notable rumor/response is that the older charges simply aren't compatible with the Edge+, and that we are all supposed to wait until the new Samsung charger (see: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EP-PN920TBEGUS) becomes available. A lot of people who took advantage of the Best Buy free Samsung charger deal (which came with the older model pad that I have) are now getting told by both Samsung and Best Buy that the deal included the wrong charger and they have to wait for the new one. I have trouble swallowing this as an acceptable response because the phone is supposed to support both Qi and PMA wireless charging STANDARDS out of the box, and therefore compatibility shouldn't be dependent upon using a particular generation of wireless chargers so long as they support those standards. From what I can tell, the new version of the Samsung pad is notably different in only one regard -- it sports faster conductive charging so they are adding "Fast Charge" to the device branding.
A YouTube user captures the problem in a video (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfiGk6C3Yso), and the video comments note that the problem is not just limited to the Samsung charging pads. Other users who commented on this video claim to have contacted Samsung and were also given the "incompatible charger" response.

I believe it is the charger and not the phone. I use a cheap lukalake wireless charger and no problems at all with it. I did put my phone on the Samsung wireless charger at the tmobile store and didn't see any problems with that one either but I wasn't able to keep it on the charger for 15min which is when the problem starts to happen as people have stated here
Itan charger here with no issues when placed just right on the charger. I have ordered a different Itan charger that has three coils so that placement should be easier.
That thread is speculative as well and just confirms that something is awry.

Inclined to agree that yes, perhaps it's just a terrible charger, but it worked flawlessly with the GS6 Edge. Obviously the + has different coil locations given its size and perhaps the old Sammy pad just struggles with it. A shame because I invested in two of them.
I had posted in similar thread about this. I have an edge plus and bought the wireless charger same day. I spent 2 days with the blinking blue light. I called Samsung. Tech support told me they could send me a new charger. I told them it was a fairly widespread problem and I do not think that was the correct action. I asked for a supervisor and after a few minutes she told me the plus is not compatible with the current wireless charger. For the plus you need the soon to be released adaptive/fast charger. If you look at the wireless charger box, just about every new phone is listed as being compatible EXCEPT the edge plus. I returned mine and am waiting for the adaptive to be released

I have the newest fast charging samsung pad and I am having the same issues. I have to remove my case and it usually takes 3 attempts to place the phone correctly before it will charge When I use a cheap 9.00 charging pad it works instantly and charges fully no issues..I think the problem is the samsung charging pads.
Will the fast charging pad work with the Samsung thin plastic bumper case made for this device?
I just ordered one of these which hasn't arrived yet. I'm just wondering why that if my Galaxy S6 came with an adaptive fast charger for the house, then why don't they have the wireless charging pad version?

Hi,
So, I'm one of the 'few' users which the USB connector on my nexus became loose to the point where doesn't charge anymore. One of the connectors inside broke (shorter then the others), I tried to fix another connector (successfully) but I can't do much about the broken one.
With this I'm left with 3 alternatives.
Send to RMA, logical, but would take at least two months since I'd have to send it to UK (was bought there) and I don't wanna be that long without it.
Order a USB connector and mount it myself. I'm actually considering this... But moving on...
Order a wireless charger, this seems the most fast option to get it charging. Now choosing this option leaves me with some questions. Considering that the official wireless charger is way more expensive than those QI ones, I checked the specifications and seems like the mA/output between QI chargers and official wireless is the same, so, do they take the same amount of time charging? Will I have any issues with another brand (considering it should work on nexus) ? Any big pratical differences between official / other brands if the technical specifications are the same?
Someone care to shed a light on this matter?
Thank you so much in advance

In my experience with third party chargers i only found it to be a bit less well built and slightly more heat
But thats it
In my opinion you should go for it
Because my N7 is also used in my truck for audio, I have a wireless eBay charger in the truck mount and another on my nightstand by the bed. They work great and supposed to.
Thanks guys
Ok, so im using the Spigen Neo Hybrid case, and when i use wireless charging, it may work 30 seconds, or 10 minutes, but it always stops. What happens is i place it on the charger and it indicates its charging. Then, within a short time period, the light on the charger starts flashing to indicate charging isnt working properly, and the screen comes on and says wireless charging paused.
I have 3 different Samsung chargers, a Nokia charger and several Powerbot chargers. One of the Samsung chargers is the newest (not fast) chargers. I take the case off and it seems to be fine. Anyone familiar with this case knows its not thick by any means. Also, i have 2 GS6s in the house both using Neo Hybrids and they charge just fine. Ive adjusted positioning dozens of times but i know from experience that most devices dont require an EXACT placement.
I went to Best Buy, where i purchased it, and this is where it gets odd. They placed it on their display charger in the Samsung section and it charged for 10 minutes no problem before they told me they couldnt duplicate the issue so they wont replace it. I brought it home and the damn thing charged to full charge no issue. The next day when i placed it back on the charging pad, it starts cutting out again.
All my chargers have been tried over USB, and yes, with multiple wall plugs. My first thought was not enough power over USB but clearly thats not the case.
Any ideas from anyone would be great.
I don't have the issue with the old wireless chargers it seems. I think it is just the new ones that were given out that I have the issue with.

I've finally fixed my issue with the original samsung charger and generic from ebay, I turned on day dream and it works now without disconnection.
A lot of people are having the same problem and so was I.
Grab your phones charger and base and use that.
I think the long cord that comes with the wireless charger is causing the issue.
I'm using an old knock off wireless charger and no case yet, but it seems to be working fine. Once the defender case comes in, we'll see if it is still functional
I haven't had any issues with my Samsung wireless charger. I'm using the original hardware that came with it. I'm also using the Neo hybrid case. What is your model number? Mine is EP-PG920A. When I was at best buy they said they had two different versions of the wireless charger. Unfortunately bestbuy was sold out so I bought mine at ATT. And I don't have daydream enabled.

There are numerous threads on people's experience with wireless charging, mostly involving the stickers to use, meltdowns with heat, etc. I would like to compile people's experiences.
If you do have experience, please comment on:
1. Did you ever get it to work to your satisfaction? If not, what was not satisfactory about it?
2. How long did it last? Or how long have you had it working?
3. What qi charger do/did you use?
4. If it broke down, what happened and did you ever get it working again?
5. What model of G4 and/or carrier do you have?
Also, there's a quick poll associated in this thread.

This one, it was basically the cheapest one I could find June 2014. Once the phone is charged you can see the light cycle on and off just maintaining 100%. Works fine for a bunch of devices and I don't notice if it's slow as it has 8 hours to charge when I sleep.
CHOE UPGRADED Qi Wireless Charger Charging Pad https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DRBFMZM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_WNViwbW7EJTDK
I purchased this plastic replacement back that came with a qi sticker. I used it mainly with this CHOE 3 coil charger, but also tried it on this Yootech one, and this one as well. On all three chargers, the phone got super hot while charging. So much so that at one point my phone even froze up and I had to pull the battery. It may have been the qi sticker that came with the back I bought, but I stopped wireless charging after about a week, because I just didn't like how hot it got.
I'm thinking of picking up another qi sticker, but just can't decide which one is the best.
I'm using the official LG qi charger and the quickcircle cover with qi built in. All working but i find plugging in faster so basically just end up using that instead..

I've found that exact placement on the charger can affect the charging temperature dramatically. I think if the sticker is a little ways off from the center of the qi charger (wherever that is, not sure how that is determined on the 3 coil), it heats up a lot more.

Yeah I tried my best to make sure it was right in the center, but it seems no matter where I placed it it would get hot. Plus what's the benefit of having a 3 coil charger if I have to place it in exactly the right spot? I think there is definitely something wrong with the qi sticker I'm using. If not, many others would be having similar issues. I'm using fairly widely used chargers.

I never felt comfortable using the Qi charging after hearing the noise my phone made when I set it on the charger. I have multiple brands of chargers and all produce the same noise from the phone's speakers (youtube link below). I've tried with cases and without cases on all my chargers.
Here are my qi chargers:

2. Axiong Qi Wireless 3-Coils Stand Charging Pad Stand Dock Wireless Charger for Qi Phones
3. Tmvel T2 Wireless Charger Charging Mount Cradle Stand for all Qi Phones, with Wide Charging Area for LG G3, Nexus 5, Nexus 4,Nokia Lumia 920, MOTO Dro

5. Nillkin Energy Stone For Nokia Lumia 920 1520 Lg Google Nexus 4 5 LG G2 HTC 8x DNA Simple Fashion Wireless Qi Power Charger Charging Pad + Leevin® NF

7. Ruix Wireless Charger -Qi Enabled Charger - White

Wonder if the V10 will have this issue too? I'd consider switching to that, but the G4 is big enough already for me.
1. Works as expected
2. Have it for a week now
3. PowerBot
4. n/a

After reading about wireless charging, maybe it's the reason why the feature was removed from phones released in my country. We got a dual sim variant where wireless charging was removed totally.

Wireless charging was removed from dual sims because the circuitry for wireless charging is replaced by that of the second sim.

1. Yes, it worked perfectly.
2. I only use the wireless charger at work and I started noticing issues after the 12th work day. Today is the 13th day and it is no longer working at all. When I power off the device and stick it on the charger, the charging light briefly indicates it's charging and powers the device on and then goes back to the idle state.

4. Came to XDA see if it's common and it looks like it is I'll try to see what happens after contacting LG support. I doubt there's much T-Mobile can do if I don't have any type of insurance or anything with them.

The T-Mobile store can put in for a warranty exchange, if you initially bought it with them. But then you get a refurb. It's $20. Alternatively, you could send it in for a factory warranty, but it'll be out for several weeks. And then after you get it back, the wireless charging will break down after a week or two. Ridiculous, right?
I think it's endemic with our H811 model. I wish this could be as big as Antennaegate, forcing LG to admit their poor design+engineering, but there aren't enough users to raise a stir.

I just had an online chat session with LG Support and since they only officially brand their Qi case for Verizon phones they are telling me that the T-Mobile model is not compatible with wireless charging and there's nothing they can do. I got this phone off CL so going to T-Mobile is going to be difficult. I purchased the LG G4 back on release day day but returned it so I was going to use that receipt with LG Support but it looks like that's a dead end.
Another question you should ask in this thread is which model people are using since this is a general G4 forum and not carrier specific. It does look like this happens with Verizon phones too though: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/help/wireless-charging-stopped-t3226231
Thankfully the battery life is good enough on this phone where I can probably live without the wireless charging at work. To be honest It was more of a must have when I had the S6 since there was no way I could make it through the workday without leaving it on the charger.
Wow, really? The function that works (at least initially) because all the hardware is there, on T-Mob, is "not supported?" That sounds like LG support has their heads up their butts, just like the QA department on the wifi charging.
I'll add the question of what version G4 do you have on the questionnaire. Can't edit the poll anymore though I wish I could.
1. Locked up during the night, multiple times a week.
2. Randomly started working perfectly for 3 months. Replaced phone. Worked for about 1.5 months. Now stops charging and locks up during the night again.
3. Nokia puck + Samsung + several chinese ebay units
4. Absolutely no idea why it magically fixed itself and now magically broken.
5. Verizon G4

Yes, but not for more than a couple weeks at a time.
2. How long did it last? Or how long have you had it working?
About 2 weeks, sent in for RMA, came back not fixed, sent back, worked for a little over a week, stopped today.
3. What qi charger do/did you use?
LG Quick Circle case purchased from Verizon, 2 tylt vus, one samsung puck.
4. If it broke down, what happened and did you ever get it working again?
No idea what caused it to stop working -- today it stopped somewhere between work and home.
First time, mailing it in twice helped.
5. What model of G4 and/or carrier do you have?
Verizon

Background :
One of the reasons of getting the LG G7 was placing it on and off (for top ups). I did not dwell (yet) into getting a separate wireless charging pad (and I haven't really been charging it much that ways yet either). I stumbled upon my lost Samsung Wireless charging pad which I used extensively on the S series earlier (unable to post link as I am a new user). Please google Samsung EP-PG920I Wireless Charger.
Questions and Concerns :
I once started charging it wireless from 3% or so and observed that suddenly it would stop charging on its own. It would not start charging again until it was lifted and placed again and again in some time it would stop charging. I thought it might be a one-off issue and tried to do the same the other day and it did the exact same thing all over again the next time as well. I'm assuming it has something to do with the charger pad. I did read somewhere that the phone has its cut off if it reaches a particular temp while charging and wondering if that is what is happening ?
Has anyone here faced the same issue ?
Is anyone here using the wireless charging option extensively and have no issues whatsoever ? If yes, please specific make / brand / setup in use for charging. Also please specify if the phone has been successfully charged say more than 50% on wireless.
Looking forward to discussions on the same.
I don't use wireless charging.. But from what your describing, it might just be time, to purchase a newer one.. I would hate to think, that the Samsung works only with Samsung.. But nothing would surprise me these days..
Bump!
No one using this feature ?

I don't have any issues with it. Are you sure that the power brick is providing enough power. It should provide at least 5V 2amps in order to work. I use the stock brick to power my wireless charger. If it's not that go to a retail store and find a wireless charger to test on.

Appreciate your response. I used my stock g7 adaptor on wireless samsung charging pad. So it is basically pumping out as much as required. Not sure if it is the charging pad which is at fault for not able to handle it maybe ? (Which actually is not its fault?). Pls post details of what setup you are using without any issues. Unfortunately, I havent seen any big retail (or small) advertising or even having wireless charging pads on display for me to walk in and check this out. In India this concept has not caught up and not many are interested in this feature. Many might have the option but still not use the feature.
Your EP-PG920I doesn't support Qualcomm QI charging at all. It doesn't support even new Samsung devices like S8 or S9, it supports S6 and S7 only.
Samsung supported at that time only WPC 1.1 standard and no Qualcomm QI. That's why EP-PG920I isn't full compatible with your LG 7.
I have no problem with QI charging. Use any 15W QI certified fast wireless charger like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H783993/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ZgejCbRN366QD

So while it does actually charge it is not the recommended way and the issue faced is because it ultimately breaks midway as not fully supported cause of the limitation. I will give one of the better chargers and the QI certified fast chargers a go.
I use original Samsung Fast wireless charger, model is EP-NG930BBEGWW. Its connected with original Samsung S7 fast charger. This wireless charger work without any problems with S7 Edge, S6, S9+, and G7. In specs: FAST CHARGE (Compatible with Galaxy Note8, S8, S8+, S7, S7 Edge, Note 5, S6 Edge+) / Qi (Compatible with Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and Qi certified devices). Only "problem" with G7 is it charging slow. Very slow - from 5 to 100% maybe 3+ hours. But this is no meaning for me, I charge my phone at night. I read G7 doesn't support fast wireless charging. Here in other thread people said support fast wireless charging, but it isn't.

Just like the case in mine it may be working but not completely. From the specs I see it has a max output of 1000mA that may be the reason for slow charge (i guess)
Yes charging slow but I don't have your problems with charging. Stop or anything else you write. Maybe you have to get other wireless charging pad.

So when I put my phone on my charger it says "fast wireless charging" then after about 4 seconds it just automatically changes to REGULAR charging and the time DOUBLES! I have been using this charger cradle from ANKER for a three years so I thought maybe it's the charger. But no. I used a S9 which also has fast wireless charge. It does not do what the note 20u does at all. I've rebooted mult times and turned off and on fast Wireless charging and still the same thing keeps happening. It should be noted this started happening after an update to N986USQU1ATI5 / N986UOYN1ATI5 / N986USQU1ATI5
Has anyone experienced this!??
I have a similar problem that started after the upgrade, and only on 1 charger (Aukey). It starts as fast charging, then after about 10-20 seconds, stops altogether for less than a second, then starts fast charging again. If the screen is on, the charging sound goes off every 15 seconds or so. It's only the Aukey charger. Strange.
I checked again, and it does also go to standard charging after stopping. Also, I changed power the power supply, and it still does the same thing.
I had the same issues several times.
Wow. I wonder if Samsung did something shady like remove fast Wireless charge or made it so fast Wireless charge only works with their chargers?? This seems VERY suspect that this is happening to other people. Have any of you reported this to Samsung? I'm about to get in touch with their support and see what they say
i have the same issue with baseus 120w charger....charges with super fast charging for couple of minutes and then goes back to normal fast charging.
Same here. Wish someone had a fix
Same here. Pauses charging every 5 to 10 seconds and actually never charges. Only works on the Samsung pad now.
For what it's worth, I have a spigen wireless car charger and it does fast charge.
Like I said before, it's only SOME chargers that won't work. It was definitely after the update, before the update, all my chargers worked. I went on the Samsung Members app, and people there are having the same problem, but no solutions.
s20 wireless charging pauses since the sept update for me, too. rebooting, clearing cache, force reboot all fail to clear this problem. makes ya wonder how much testing is done with the updates samsung rolls out.
Same here after the latest upgraded.
I just received a generic 15w wireless charger stand from Aliexpress and noticed this issue too.
My older S9+ fast charges on it fine, while my new Note 20 Ultra only slow charges (~1200 milliamp vs ~700 milliamp input according to the Ampere app... This is with my Note 20's charger brick and cable.
Seems like Samsung are intentionally trying to lock out third party chargers.
Same here with the I Ottie I tap 2.
Was working before September update, Have tested with Samsung S10 plus and s9. On both, fast charging is working.
Any workaround yet, any one contacted Samsung ?
Quick update, contacted Samsung support. Fat lot of good that did.
Wanted me to take it in to a service centre. I reiterated it wasn't a hardware problem, it was software.
Anyway she stated to send a bug report through to Samsung with the description.

I have the same problem with my CHOETECH 15W charger. I guess we need to wait to next update from Samsung

I have this issue also. Not enough people *****ing about it to get it fixed so far.
I'm trying my best.

I have all type of fast chargers (from 18w to 65w) at home/office... old/ new/ or third party and mostly they can fast charge on my S20+. I found this "slow down charging" issue occurs when it's on a wore USB-C cable/ or cheap third party cable (especially those 1 to 2 or 1 to 3 cable).
For what it is worth, I have a third party cheap charger (seneo) that used to flop flop between fast and regular wireless charging however, I swapped out the power cord with an older S10 phone cord and a Samsung fast charger power adapter and now I have fast charging.
