I've been putting off upgrading my Galaxy Tab 3 to the latest update because it says it includes KNOX. I have a rooted Galaxy S4 that blew an efuse during the root process, so I don't want a repeat of that. Should I keep holding off or can I safely upgrade and root in the future?

I just got the Wi-fi version of the Note 8.0 (GT-N5110). I want to root it so I can run rooted apps (Titanium Backup, Helium, etc.) and not for installing custom-ROM.
One important thing I want to ensure is that when Samsung releases the OFFICIAL 4.2.2, I can still update it via Kies. I had the Galaxy Note 1 and I rooted it (forgot what I used to root) and when Samsung released the official Jelly Bean, I cannot upgrade via Kies, had to do Odin.
I see that there are 2 way of doing the root and I am wondering which one have LESS issue?
I. CF-Auto-Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980683
- Created by ChainFire (creator of SuperSU?)
- WILL increase the flash counter (can be fixed with Triangle Away, but not sure if this works with Note 8.0)
II. Galaxy Note 8.0 Toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251033
- I am still doing research, but it seems some people have issues based on the thread?
i. its work fine. i root my note 8 when it was in 4.1.2 and when upgrade it to 4.2.2
ii. some got problem with it. but not all.
btw both will increase your flash counter and can be fix with triangle away (make sure the latest one)

You have 4.2.2 already? I thought Samsung had not released the official update for the Wi-Fi version.
my device is 3g version
there are 4.2 roms out, so if you are rooted, you can install it..
and use CF autoroot; took about 3 minutes and is super easy..
and dont worry about the flash counter; why do people care about this any ways, it only comes in to play if you return this thing, and if you buy it at places like Best Buy, they usually dont care...
Thank you all!
I used the Toolkit, since it seems easier to revert to stock if I messed up.
I'm going to get t-mobile Note 3 on Black friday. I got a few question to ask.
1. What is the easiest way to root note 3 without device? Any problem with Samsung knox issue? Are there anyway way to avoid/not to do for not brikcing, or stuck in boot loop something like that.
2. Is there Adfree app I can install after rooting? I'm coming from Nexus 4 rooted, I can't stand with advertisement everywhere I go.
3. What is the best rom like Note 3 TW with little more features?
4. If I just rooted with my note 3 and installed Adfree, can I get update from Samsung or I have to unrooted it first?
Hi all,
I am getting a 2014 Note 10. SM-P6000 Octa Core variant for Christmas. I recently also got a Galaxy S4, on the S4 when i got it i downloaded the OTA without paying much attention and of course going from 4.2 to 4.3 put KNOX on there..... I'm hoping that with the Note I'll get the chance to avoid taking any OTAs and avoid KNOX entirely. However what I wanted to know was if Knox was default for the Note? Can we avoid tripping the flag yet? On the S4 it is still not known for sure whether or not an efuse is in use? Do we know if there is an efuse on the Note? Is the rooting method that has currently defeated knox on the note 3 also working on the Note 10.1? Finally I suppose the final question I have is if i hold out on rooting it and whatnot will we EVER be able to bypass KNOX or remove it WITHOUT tripping the the counter? Sorry if these questions are noobish and or answered elsewhere.
Thanks

Hi,
I've pretty much used a S4 before this, recently got a free Tab 3.70 and it was so slow that i need to change the firmware and root it.
I'm wondering or it seems to be there is no Knox for the Galaxy Tab 3.7.0? (T210 variant). So it means my warranty won't be void right? But I've also read that the Triangle Away does not support the Tab 3, does this mean that if i root/load a custom rom and kernel, I won't be able to flash away the counter to get warranty still?
Finally, for S4, some important things to note were the CSC/PDA/Firmware of your device, but without a Phone dialer, how does one go about doing this and is it necessary to take these details down for the Tab in order to go back to its original state?
I have recently bought a Tab 3 8" and would also like to know will i be able to keep my warranty if i root it. I am currently at 4.2.2 and i'm not interested in flashing another ROM, just gaining root. Is there a completely reversable way to do this?
Same question for P5220 (Tab 3 10.1 Wifi+LTE)
Warranty will be void if your device is rooted, and yes there is a way you can get it back restored unrooted. Just go to your device size thread and find the right one. Hope this helps.

I just got my new S4 recently and I took the 4.4.4 update that was avaliable for it. I have been reading on here for hours about how if you root it/upload custom boot loader it'll trip knox.
Could someone answer me a few questions. I would really appreciate it!
Does knox matter if you don't have a warranty etc?
Is there a way to go ahead and root 4.4.4/NH7 without tripping knox or at all?
Also, is there custom boot loaders and all that for this update as well?
1) nope.. only if it still has Samsung warranty
2) not at the moment
3) no, they are not needed
Someone reset Knox on note 3 exynos.......
