It's 4g, don't be fooled by the icon. I think it's fixed in the nightly

I might be wrong but I thought that I had read somewhere that it stays on 3G to conserve battery then switches to 4G(H+) when you actually use it.

That's correct! Since 4g eats more battery. Makes since bro!

Go to:
Settings/ more settings / mobile networks / CONNECTION OPTIMIZER
then uncheck the box and that will disable the Wifi auto-connection. Hope that helps. I have the same issue the day i got my phone. =)

YES! Thanks, Jeff! I am using Tasker to turn all data connections off at night, but when I plugged it into the USB, it turned WiFi on and I kept getting alerts throughout the night. I understand the principle, but that was annoying.
Good ol sprint doing anything they can to get you to use wifi instead of thier bandwidth

well, wifi uses a lot less battery than 3g and way less than 4g. the optimizer is a good idea, but just works terribly.

confused about streaming

Had my N7105 for a few days now and I'm enjoying it, one thing though. Downloads and steaming is slow. Slower than my old BB9810 I'm talking about when I'm a at home using WiFi. Facebook takes an age to update, YouTube keeps buffering and I am connected to my network. Its not my connection speed that is just short of 70Mb! I put the phone in 'airplane' mode and just turn on WiFi and the speed is much better, no buffering or delays
is there a setting I am missing?
Also, I know the phone is 4g but vodaphone don't offer that here yet.....soon!
My phone is set to GSM/WCDMA is this correct? I have no option to enable 3G/4G.
Thanks in advance.
Jon

Hi ben, I was in your shoes just a few days ago and I too grew very frustrated. I now have LTE working just fine. First off what you should know is that the screen where yo select networks is not going to give you that LTE option and the antenna icon will read 4G not LTE.
That being said. Are you sure you have the proper apn setting selected to get LTE? If it is, all you need to do is use that code to change the network to LTE /gsm/wcdma auto and that should be sufficient. You will only see 4G when the signal is strong though.
If you have the wrong apn you need to add and select the right one. If you can't unselect default apn delete it. Once you have the combined apn and network selected, you'll be golden.
Good luck.

I have the same problem do you mean you need the right APN so you will have LTE in the normal settings menu?

Go-to Settings - Network and Internet - Mobile Network - Volte
I had to finally switch it off from there as there was no option to remove just the notification.

It might be the case as it completely appeared on it's own one day.
What carrier are you on though.
