Had my N7105 for a few days now and I'm enjoying it, one thing though. Downloads and steaming is slow. Slower than my old BB9810 I'm talking about when I'm a at home using WiFi. Facebook takes an age to update, YouTube keeps buffering and I am connected to my network. Its not my connection speed that is just short of 70Mb! I put the phone in 'airplane' mode and just turn on WiFi and the speed is much better, no buffering or delays
is there a setting I am missing?
Also, I know the phone is 4g but vodaphone don't offer that here yet.....soon!
My phone is set to GSM/WCDMA is this correct? I have no option to enable 3G/4G.
Thanks in advance.
Jon

Sorry if this question has been answered already, but I've been searching for days and can't find a solution. I flashed cm9 beta0 coming from stock el30 multiple times and wifi won't work at all. I click on the wifi icon and it lights up, but nothing else pops up. Is there a way to fix this? Just to clarify, I don't mean the wifi hotspot, I mean wifi as in using my home internet connection on my phone.
Go into settings and wifi and click the left side and go to settings and set it to connect to your wifi. You may need to reset your router.

It worked. I had no idea I could actually press on "wifi" and bring up the settings. I thought I only had the option to click on or off. Thanks.

That's why we all watch qbking77 vids for reviews, details, etc... but how elese did you think it would connect without authorization. Only if it remembered the connection but if you wiped completely then it won't remember any settings

I watch qbking's vids, too. I don't use wifi that often, but every time I did, the available networks automatically popped up, like Kenny said.

Go to:
Settings/ more settings / mobile networks / CONNECTION OPTIMIZER
then uncheck the box and that will disable the Wifi auto-connection. Hope that helps. I have the same issue the day i got my phone. =)

YES! Thanks, Jeff! I am using Tasker to turn all data connections off at night, but when I plugged it into the USB, it turned WiFi on and I kept getting alerts throughout the night. I understand the principle, but that was annoying.
Good ol sprint doing anything they can to get you to use wifi instead of thier bandwidth

well, wifi uses a lot less battery than 3g and way less than 4g. the optimizer is a good idea, but just works terribly.

So after the newest OTA update my wlan dl speed decreased about half and is pretty unstable.
Im on stockrom/non-rooted and bootloader unlocked. On my laptop i dont have these issues and i already tried everything with the router. Even completely reseting it and reconfigure it. Is there any knowledge of such an issue?

Just a shot in the dark, but have you turned off QoS and WMM in your router settings? I was having slow wifi problems on my iPad and turning all those options off fixed it... Just an idea, like I said. Seems you have tried everything...

Maybe it's your router or better yet the router settings. Have you tried changing any of those settings?
Am I missing something? How is it a Samsung thing? What kind of router do you have?

After looking all night I found a thread that fixed this. You have two choices really to fix or buy your router which I'm not going to do, or you can type in on your dial pad *#0011#. Then you click your menu button, click on the wifi option, and then disable the energy saver wifi mode. That made it so my phone wouldn't drop wifi connection anymore. NOTE: each time you restart your phone you need to turn the wifi energy saver off through the command *#0011#. Hope I helped some of you because this bug is truly annoying.

That stinks. I don't have any problem and I think this is only the 2nd time I've seen anything posted like this about the S4 (the S3 did have that issue and was common). I've never turned off any energy saver and mine stays connected 100% of the time. So you're saying either that or you have to buy a new router? What kind do you have now and what settings on it did you find out that cause this issue for you?
Right now I have whatever Verizon gives fios customers. It works perfectly for all my phones, tablets, and computer. Just not on my s4 unless I do the dial pad trick. I'll post a link on the xda thread when I get home on how to fix your router. It really does make me angry that I paid 600 for the phone and it does this. Hopefully Samsung fixes this soon since they acknowledge the problem
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
Btw here's Samsung acknowledging the problem.

Do you have a dlink router?
GS4
My gf has an S4 and has the same problem. We have a Netgear WNDR3500. So it's not isolated to a D-Link. She also did the dial pad trick and it seems to work for her as well. Need to find a script to run on boot to set the power save to OFF.

Did that too and nothing. Its probably my router. I will check and see what happens when I connect to another router.

Mine does this. Updated router firmware and seeing how it goes. Its an issue others have mentioned.
Go to wifi then open advanced settings bottom left then uncheck auto network switch. A pop up will come up check the do not ask again... I had the same issue with wifi this solved it.
