Keep it on charging overnight. Then open the bootloader by holding the Volume Down button and powering up your phone, you should be able to access the recovery and flash the rom.

Hi,
Amoled HTC Desire - Telstra Edition (A8183)
S-Off
ClockworkMod
GingerVillian Rom
It's been about 3 weeks since my last flash. Haven't had any problems with the phone at all.
Was simply browsing the net on my phone tonight. It froze for some reason and was completely unresponsive to all buttons - so I pulled the battery.
It now won't turn on at all - not activity from the phone at all.
What I've tried / found....
Plugged in with NO battery inserted - LED Flashes between Green/Orange
Plugged in with NO battery, then insert battery - LED stops flashing and goes blank.
Plugged in with battery - No LED activity
Power button - No response
Power + Back Button - No response
Power + Vol Down - No response
Plugged into PC - No response on PC
Removed Sim Card
Removed SD Card
Different battery from GF stock desire.
Will leave it on charge tonight and see if anything happens. Seems completely dead!
Any other suggestions here before I try and warranty, hopefully if its dead its so dead that HTC won't know or bother checking to see its rooted.

i had a similar thing only last week, except mine only showed signs of an SLCD brick, also around 3 weeks after i flashed S-OFF, seems very strange. If you have no luck your best option is to try your warranty, worst case scenario they say the warranty is invalid and your back where you are now, worth a try i reckon
So I've discovered that the charging circuit appears to be working. I managed to get the charge LED to display last night by removing the battery, reinserting, then plugging in.
The orange charge LED would display.
I was greeted with a green LED this morning indicating a full charge.
Now if I pressed the power button at any time during charging the LED would disappear and never return, even if I unplugged and plugged the power back in. I would have to remove the battery to get that LED back.
Hi Major Clod
I have exactly the same problem!!!!
Also flashed Ginger Villain around 2 week ago..
2 days ago I was on facebook with my Desire and suddenly the screen was black. Nothing works sinds that moment.
Charged my battery in my cradle.. Now gives a green light.. sometimes.
I think it was the gingervillain rom

Hi there,
I'm having strange issues with DHD. I've read a few threads with issues like this, but symptoms are always slightly different.
Yesterday, I've connected it to the charger (the battery was empty), and when I tried to turn it on, it just did 3 vibrations and orange notif. LED started blinking. When connected to the USB, the Windows recognizes device as Qualcomm, and further reading suggested that the phone is entering service mode, which is normally accessible with Power + Vol+. I've also found out that volume rocker can be the issue, but in my case I don't see anything wrong with it, it's working and looking like before.
No matter what I did, it always did the same, it won't even go into recovery (Power + Vol-), screen always stays blank, the only activity I'm getting are flashing LEDs and vibrations.
Also, phone is charging when turned off (battery removed and reinserted). I've charged it for a few hours yesterday and the green LED was on.
And finally, when turned off, and plugged into the USB, after few seconds, adb devices will show the device, and after the serial number it says recovery. Does that mean that the phone booted into the recovery? The screen is still black though.
So, the most important thing for me is to find out is it possible to return the phone back to stock, in order to send it for a repair. And even better, a solution for the problem
I believe its a hardware problem, although adb says its in recovery. Any more ibfo you could give us? ROM, how you rooted it etc?

thanks don't hurt ya know?
Take off battery, connect phone to charger via USB for 3 minutes ,than insert battery put battery cover now u should see orange light ,now press power button and voila
It's an issue with the volume rocker I think
Had a very similar issue when I had IceColdSandwich on my DHD, only started when I flashed that Rom, reflashed a different Rom, everything is fine again!

I'm not sure that the issue is with ROM, I'm starting to think that it's probably a hardware issue. And that's why I need to found out how to return everything to stock, and send it for warranty.
Try again it will work .may be leave it longer after you put the battery in like an hour .it should work after an hour press the power button

Today, i visit the service, flat cable and battery where reinserted and everything is normal now. You could try this method if you have a warranty. Best regards.

Thankyou so much after leaving phone in cupboard for like 5 years and forgot why it was on there I decided to plug it up. Then I remembered it wouldn't turn on and I was getting the orange blinking. After following your instructions it's all on again. Have upgraded since then so I guess this is a back up phone now lol
This is ridiculus, it was working yesterday and just before I went to sleep I put it to charge.
This morning I wake up, suddenly I see there's no red or yellow light, the phone is supposed to be charging yet there's no light, suspicious I thought.
But it could've been just this crappy USB port suddenly going loose. anyway I checked it to see if the battery was full, tried turning on - but it couldn't turn on. at all. no light whatsoever.
I tried resetting the battery 3 times, still nothing, I tried to charge it again and for a second it blinked red, a few times. so I tried turning it on while it's charging, didn't work. I could only access CWM Recovery.
And even in CWM Recovery, after pressing "reboot" it went black and returned to Recovery again.
Please, I really need help, please reply.
Phone details:
Desire HD
CyanogenMod 10.1 - Version 4.2.2
CWM Recovery
Power button doesn't work.
Help.

Are you able to flash a rom? Try to power the phone on using adb commands, plug the phone into a PC and type adb reboot bootloader, and see if it goes into hboot

Hi,
My Desire was working perfectly until 2 days ago.
I was out cycling and had sports tracker and music on.I noticed at halfway that it was hot.I thought maybe it was because it was sunny, but on the way back it ran out of battery, which was unusual.
When I got home I discovered that I couldn't charge or turn on the phone. It had a red flashing light when plugged in.I read to do the volume buttons and power button default to restart. This worked and I can turn on the phone and charge, but the whole phone is really hot, whether the screen is on or not. When it gets very hot it flashes red then green alternately.
Is there anything I can do,or is my phone toast?
Thanks for any help.

Recently I have changed my battery, since my phone wouldn't charge even if my charger is plugged in.Anyways I changed the battery and as soon as I turned it on (without a charger) phone turned on,got trough the boot animation and when it was just about to get finished it just turned off,and started rebooting. So I was scared a little bit since I have a custom rom on a locked bootloader, scared of bricking my device or something.Anyways when it started rebooting it turned off again, and than it just started the screen off and on,screen off and on.And no sony logo or anything. It just puts screen on and off.The LED light is off to,at the first booting it was normal.Just a note, the phone hasn't been working (turned on) for a month.I am thinking it's something wrong about the contact with the battery and the phone. The contact is not good I am thinking. Also there is no regular first vibration after turning on the phone. And I have tried volume button up and power button combination, and there are four vibrations (first one,and after that three consecutive). So anyone got an idea what it might be?What's the problem. Please if you have anything on your mind, let me know.Oh yeah and again one more thing. When I put my old battery in (the broken one) there is an LED light, but not turning on obviously lol.
