Sup all?
Not much info on here for what I'm about to ask. So here we go..
I'd like to upgrade to the S4 from my beloved S3 for the faster data speeds, for online gaming. I was going to do the $0 down deal on tmobile.com yesterday but read about an LTE-Advanced capable s4 that was released in S.Korea not too long ago.
From what I've read, tmobile plans to roll out lte-a technology into their LTE-ready towers by year end. So if this is true, wouldn't it make sense that this lte-a version of the s4 would come to T-Mobile?
When I bought my current s3 (t999) at release, a short time later, the lte version comes out (t999L). When I bought my Samsung vibrant 2 years ago, a short time afterwards the "4g" version comes out as well. Samsung/tmobile seems to like playing this little game.
So I'm just curious on you guys thoughts on this. Buy the current s4 now or wait till the possible lte-a version comes to U.S. carriers?

From what your second link says; it looks like LTE-A won't be a big priority and will probably be in a "testing" phase for awhile just like LTE was when they made that move. They'll put it in one specific city or area and test to see how well it does (it's what they've done in the past as well). More than likely they won't bring the S4 LTE-A over and just wait till more and more phones corporations start using it. They aren't going to focus solely on upgrading something they are still in the process of upgrading just for one phone...it's a stupid illogical move. Also who's to say that chipsets used in phones here will be able to support LTE-A (same reason the first S3 didn't have LTE).
You could jump in on the the $0 down now and get in on the JUMP! program so later you can just upgrade to the new phone if they do bring it.
T-mobile Just turned on LTE this summer i doubt that well see LTE-A in 2 years...
Can someone confirm that the regular T-Mobile M8 has both VoLTE and LTE-A capability? I'm pretty sure it has both (esp LTE-A), but I'd really appreciate it if someone could just confirm that? I know I have to wait for T-Mobile to send the new update to get LTE-A, so still waiting, but I want to know it's capable of LTE-A. I think VoLTE is already enabled, but it's only enabled in Chicago, and I live 30 min away (don't have it here). Tomorrow I will be in downtown to see Interpol, and will check it then.
Please let me know!
Thanks,

Don't know about LTE-A but VoLTE is not activated. My Note 3 worked in my area and the M8 falls back to 4G for voice calls. Waiting for updates.

Im in Dallas and can also confirm VoLTE is not active / enabled on the phone.
My Note 3 has it working but its not my daily phone, my M8 is my daily phone.
Looking forward to the 4.4.3 update as it shows system and network performances, along with WiFi and BT.

Hi Phil,
I've seen on different sites that the M8 has the capability for at least LTE-A). Ok, that is interesting to know. My cousin has a Note 3 and lives closer to Chicago than I do and he has VoLTE now (4G LTE during calls). My area (Chicago suburbs) doesn't, yet. He said though after his Note 3 update recently seemed to give him VoLTE and because he uses Chicago towers he gets VoLTE now.
I'm gonna try my M8 tomorrow when I'm in downtown and hopefully it stays at 4G LTE. We'll see. But probably will have to wait for update to get VoLTE. A T-Mobile rep just told me that there is NO LTE-A in the U.S. for T-Mo as of the present time.
I'll post here on Thursday saying if I got VoLTE in the city or not. If not, then gotta wait for update. As of right now, only these T-Mo phones have VoLTE for sure:
•Samsung Galaxy S5
•Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (N900)
•Samsung Galaxy Light (T399)
•LG G Flex

Yep, I live in Burr Ridge, and currently have a LG Flex, and I have VoLTE
Dont think it made that much of a difference, but my phone/TMO connection has always been fantastic here, so I dont care one way or the other about it; I am switching to a M8 in 2 weeks, so I hope there isnt a big difference in performance
So early this morning, Samsung and T-Mo released Android 5.0 Lollipop for the T-Mo Note 3 (N900TUVUFOB5). Being an official T-Mo rom, this does support the native wifi calling. So I'm just wondering out loud, if this release can help any of us still plugging along with our T-Mo Note 2's? I certainly don't have any of those skills, but it sure gets me to wondering about our amazing developers! I have certainly been exposed to many here that I would consider geniuses!
Just wondering!!! Thanks to all!
K so... I got a message from verizon to enjoy my new faster speeds because they've rolled out the new LTE-ADVANCED in my area. So I ask what's this? Look it up and see a list that starts with the note 5 and newer phones.(note 4 not on the list)
Is this hardware or software?
I'm currently on note4Grace and loving it.
I don't see any indication that there is anything different about my lte signal. No + or -A so if I did have LTE-A how would I know?
I apologize if this is a repeat (redirect appreciated) thanks for your time
Hello fellas. . Long time that I hadn't been active in this forums.
Long story short. I bought the marvelous note 7 and I felt in love within minutes, a week later had to returned it. After that I tried the S7 edge, V20 and iPhone 7plus with no luck bc my note 7 left the bar way up there. So I downgraded to note 5
Bought one from Verizon and it was unlocked, it works once a changed the apn setting, same speed and all the goodies also. I have the unlimited plan from att and they forbid the hotspot with this plan. Is no way around it. But with the note 5 from Verizon I have unlimited hotspot just so u guys know. . The only one drama that I'm experiencing its that when I get an incoming call my data drops. . Can't get around the problem I had been playing w setting but just can't.
Any help or advice it's much appreciated it
Have a good day one guys and thanks
I have same issues I have a n920a on straight talk I constantly get Internet connection not active or something like that
I do know one of the differences between the two versions is that the Verizon phone lacks LTE band 17, AT&T's primary LTE band. I don't know if this is the core of your issue, but is a difference between the two.
