Hello fellas. . Long time that I hadn't been active in this forums.
Long story short. I bought the marvelous note 7 and I felt in love within minutes, a week later had to returned it. After that I tried the S7 edge, V20 and iPhone 7plus with no luck bc my note 7 left the bar way up there. So I downgraded to note 5
Bought one from Verizon and it was unlocked, it works once a changed the apn setting, same speed and all the goodies also. I have the unlimited plan from att and they forbid the hotspot with this plan. Is no way around it. But with the note 5 from Verizon I have unlimited hotspot just so u guys know. . The only one drama that I'm experiencing its that when I get an incoming call my data drops. . Can't get around the problem I had been playing w setting but just can't.
Any help or advice it's much appreciated it

I have same issues I have a n920a on straight talk I constantly get Internet connection not active or something like that
I do know one of the differences between the two versions is that the Verizon phone lacks LTE band 17, AT&T's primary LTE band. I don't know if this is the core of your issue, but is a difference between the two.

Hello everyone,
I am having a serious crisis. So let me give you a little back story. I previously had a unlocked gnex and I had been using it with straight talk att and simple mobile. My particular phone didn't like straight talk at all I was always having data problems and the reception and data were very slow. Simple mobile worked great and very fast and the soft data cap I found was a lot higher than att's. I sold my gnex a few weeks ago before the nexus 4 launch so I could get more money for it. I have been using a Nokia E5-00 in the mean time on straight talk and fr some reason it has been great way better reception and the data is actually faster than what I was getting on my gnex even though this phone only supports hspa+7.5 instead f the full hspa+21 the gnex had. I really want a Galaxy Note 2, but I have been hesitant of ATT's network and I am afraid I will have the same roblems as I had with my gnex. So I wanted the T-mobile version because it would give me the flexibility to switch between the above listed carriers and since prepaid doesn't have lte support I could get the hspa+42 and know I will get faster data than ATT. I have to get the phone from amazon, long story but that is where I have to get it, they dont seem to be getting the t-mo version anytime soon and everywhere is on back order, but I cant deal with using this E5 any longer. I can get a ATT Galaxy note 2 and they just turned on LTE where I live in Columbus, Ohio. I had 2 questions I hope somebody can help me out with, since I am using prepaid and wont get LTE is there a hack to make the LTE work? Also is the HSPA+ on ATT going to provide faster speeds than before now that LTE has launched relieving some strain on hspa+ and providing more back-haul to the sites? Any incite would be gratefully apreciated

3.We share 1GB data on legitimate Family share plan with one International "(dumbphone SGS II i9100) and my International Note I declared as a smart phone to get the family share plan. (cannot get that UL messaging Talk shared data plan with two "Feature phones" I am using the APN that came with the ATT version I upgraded for and sold on my Note.
4. The development community is huge already and FW udates are realesed there first. I am already running XXLA on my Note 1.

1. I live 30 min from ATT headquarters. LTE blows hspa+ outta the water.
2. I get 6+ hours screen time and 2 days off charger on my lte note.
3. Upgrade your data plan.
4. Development? Its not hard to learn and teach yourself. You will notice nothing between 4.1.1 and 4.1.2, except some settings moved around.
5. 7100 ROMs work on the att note.

I "get it" You love the ATT version and you develop your own ROMs however I am asking people on ATT using an International device in an International forum who do not develop ROMs if they would have preferred the ATT version now and why. Not who already has the ATT version and loves it. That said it seems seems no one on ATT is unhappy with their N7100.
I Don't need to use much data with the FM Radio. Why pay for something I am getting free or worse I won't use? $115 a month for two smart phones is a bargain. .Another $300+ a year for 4GB of unused data not so much....
Regarding LTE speeds, we all know the frustration of downloading a 700mb ROM on 'high speed" cable at 100kb a second despite our measured 15mps download benchmark speeds on Speednet. LOL
3G+ is plenty fast enough for most web browsing which is ultimately dependent on the web site. LTE looks great on speed tests, on paper, and may save a few minutes here and there downloading and may be very nice for someone who does not have another form of Internet source most of the time. But a few extra seconds of page loading won;t make a whole lot of difference on a mobile device as long as video and music streams seamlessly.
I don't have the time and especially the inclination to learn how to develop code for these devices, I'd rather have a choice of using another's passionate work with the shared results of their hobby.
Those of us without LTE for another year or so don't need the ATT badged phone. I had it. I tried it. I flashed a Rom on it. I sold it cheap .I am holding out for a great deal on a 7100 because I have the ROM already and can wait another $100 or so for the rest of the Note 2 goodies.
I am very happy with my international N2 on AT&T. My 3g speeds average 6-7. There is not LTE where I live, nor will there be for a good while. I have no real concerns about having LTE on my phone with limited data...
I'm fine with the International version. No regrets.
No regrets here. LTE is a long way off where I live. HSPA+ is plenty fast enough.

What APNs are you using? Cingular wap or ATT Phone?. I l am on using the Shared data plan I upgraded for with the option of switching back to the MediaNet UL data plan.
I'm using AT&T PTA. I get 6-8 down on average. With wap cingular I only get 3-5 down.

Thanks Good news I am glad I got the new SIM then and provisioned for a smart phone.
I have no regrets. I have the peace of mind knowing that AT&T hasn't tampered with my device in any way in order to monitor activities and/or limit features that are present to me out-of-the box. As for LTE, it's pointless to me the way things are right now. I mean, what need have I for a connection rivaling my home internet speeds, when I'm faced with overages or throttling? HSPA+ is plenty for me.

I just ordered on on Newegg for $599 shipped.... I agree with LTE. I have high speed internet here at home and downloading 700MB ROM files at 100KB/sec reminds me LTE is not all that. Websites determine speeds more than the carrier. The only clear advantage to LTE is when downloading or uploading large files otherwise web pages load in seconds on 3G rather than instantly. Not bad.
I put my phone up next to a Verizon SIII and compared my MediaNet 3g with their LTE. Thier's was faster by a few seconds in some cases and not even by one second in others.
can't you just disable the LTE radio (to save battery or if your area doesn't have LTE), or does that disable data/service entirely?

I bought the International version of the Note 2 and coming from the Note 1 AT&T LTE the battery life is not even close. The note 2 gives me well over 10hrs of heavy screen-on set to auto+high, net surfing over HSPA+. I could not get 1/2 that on my LTE Note 1.
As far as disabling LTE... For my wife, coming from the Skyrocket there was an APN that would disable LTE, however the radio was still there so the battery life was not helped as much as turning it off would have been. Trully turning it "off" on the Skyrocket was not an option. For her I opted to get her the T-Mobile Note2 and unlock it and she is running on AT&T HSPA+ as well with great results.
Bottomline: Getting between 8-9000kpbs is plenty fine with me, especially if it gives me even a fraction of extra battery

Yeah I thought that might be the case. Mine is on the way from NewEgg. I tried the ATT version but I am too used to a vanilla Samsung device. I actually like Samsung without the ATT stuff (although I don;t use TW. ) I tried the CM and AKOP stuff but too much flashing going on and samsung does not release drivers so FM didn't work without a $10 app and the S Pen stuff was wonky. .
The stock custom roms always were my choice. I would find one development team and stick with them. DesignGears on the Cappy, CheckRom on the i9100, Eybee, N7000 and looks like Omega will be my choice with the Note II

Anyways, I've been offered by my carrier a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE version. I have th Samsung Galaxy Note 2 3g version now.
All I have to do is renew my contract for 24 months and also I wont have to pay more for LTE, im already on Unlimited Data on my Note 2, I just have to change my phone to a LTE enabled phone to get LTE.
Question is, is it worth the upgrade now? Or wait a few months for the Note 3 to come out?

Here's the thing..
the fastest speed I got from my Note 2 3G is 5mbps
But I've seen people here with LTE go up to 20mbps and more...
Also, I think locking for 24 months is no problem with me. Since I've been using the same carrier for more than 10 years now
And unfortunately, where I live, we cannot retain the same mobile number if we change carriers, so unless that happens Im stuck with the same carrier.

What are you ever doing on your phone where 5mbs isn't fast enough?
I had a S3 and went to a Note 2 LTE. Have I ever noticed any difference apart from running wanky speedtest? No.
If you really need that speed, sure, get it. But it sounds like you're just seeing the bigger number and thinking you're missing out. You're really not.
If you're so vain you need to show off fast speedtest, then yes you should also get it.
It really depends, to be honest. I have a Note 2 right now, but I'd really like a N7105 LTE version. I briefly had a Galaxy S4 but got rid of it because it wasn't as good as the Note 2. If the Note 3 comes out and is just a SGS4 in a Note size, then I'd take the LTE Note 2 any day. The slowness and lag of the S4, particularly in the camera app, coupled with the outrageous heat it generates and the pointlessly short battery life while doing very little make it a no-go. Hopefully the Note 3 is better engineered.....
Had note 2 LTE version sold it but missed it and bought cheaper n7100 but not much difference. Best wait for note 3

I currently have a Note 2 on an unlimited family plan add-a-line, a Samsung 7.0+ on a 3 gig, $10 data plan that the store rep ASSURES me is grandfathered, and an AT&T Nokia 520 (best $40 phone ever!) as a backup. I'd like to add a bigger data enabled tablet into the mix but I'm undecided whether to get a 5100 to occasionally swap my phone sim into OR an AT&T model to replace the 7.0+ on the data line. I've also considered the international Tab 3 8.0 (T311) instead of the 5100.
I live in Chicago, a strong LTE and 1900 city (AWS HSPA seems to be getting worse though). I've also considered a Nexus 7 LTE thorough T-Mobile (Wi-Fi price!) but don't think it'd be a huge improvement for the money spent over what I already have. Roms and development don't matter much to me, just root for Adaway, Cerberus, and some de-bloating. I'm also not a gamer beyond Tetris. The S-pen is handy for the basketball leagues I work but I think I could work around that. I average 10 gigs a month, almost all through Netflix.
5100's and T311's are hard to find used and are running about 400 and 320 respectively new on Amazon. Used AT&T Note 8's are much more common and seem to go for around 250 on Swappa, often with a case.
I've also read that T-Mobile seems to view the AT&T Note 8 as a phone though it doesn't make cellular calls (does it have sms ability? I really like that option on my 7.0+) and the 5100 as either a phone or tablet.
Any thoughts on battery life as a phone or anything else about my idea? I've had a hard time finding battery stats on specifically the cellular models; my Note 2 has spoiled me!
If I do get one of the voice enabled tablets I could see going between just that and Nokia (as a compact option, also much easier to swap sims than with my Defender wrapped Note 2!) and not having a data only line.

i have an at&t i467 on tmobile with the 200mb for life plan. i've made phone calls with talkatone at the time and have used it with sms. i just finally got a phone recently so i dont dwell on my note 8.0 much. i'm too busy on my ipad mini lte and nexus 7 lte also on tmobile network. i have quite a bit of electronic devices, lol.
I have the N5100 and the Tab 3 (Sprint variant). The 5100 is my primary phone. The Tab 3 functions as the head unit in my car. T-Mobile classifies the 5100 as a smartphone, I had it on their $30 5 GB plan. Curiously, they also allow it on their 200 MB data only plan. This is what was reported on the thread entitled i467 Adding Phone Support: *

At minimum, this suggests T-Mobile distinguishes between the 5100 and 467 models. I know that AT&T's database flags the 5100 as a smartphone, so unless a store employee manually overrides the system, it cannot be registered on an AT&T data only plan. If you want to do this, find a clueless employee (I did it a year ago, they may wiser on by now).
Battery life is probably not as good as what you've experienced with the Note 2. According to my battery monitoring app, I average 4 hours of on screen time (100% -> 20%). I typically have brightness set to auto +3, WiFi off, Bluetooth off, GPS off. For me, most days, it lasts all day but needs to be charged every night.

Thank you, that was very helpful! I'd imagine the 8" voice Tab 3 has similar battery life then. I usually get about 6 hours screen time on my Note 2.
The size (and being able to use my unlimited data) would be great but it sounds like there are too many compromises for me as a primary mobile device. I actually scored a LNIB LTE Nexus 7 two days ago at a SWEET price that I still shouldn't have bought, but I'll probably still keep my eyes open for a cheap i467 as I can live with the camera and battery life (I keep my 7.0+ in airplane mode unless I actually need data) on a 2nd/3rd/... tablet.

I have the AT&T Note 8.0 -SGHi467 on the T-Mobile free 200 MB plan. I went to T-Mobile store and told them I need a SIM card for my Nexus 7 LTE and I need it activated already so that it will work right out of the box, and it did.

So, I picked up a used i467 two months ago and have been using it on my T-Mobile tablet add a line. With the exception of a few small issues, this thing rocks!
Battery life was the first one- manually resetting it fixed that. I now average 7 hours of screen time with 4g and GPS on.
However, it freezes up occasionally, never for more than a few seconds. I also don't get LTE on it in a T-Mobile LTE area. It seems that AT&T may have a firmware lock on that. That's not a deal breaker but I also occasionally have data and signal drops on hspa, even in a strong 1900 area.
Despite the above, I like it so much I'm planning on getting a N5100 as this thing has taken me off my Note 2 in a big way. I just need to check out my two remaining issues.
Are my freezes and signal drops unique to the AT&T model, or could I expect the same issues with a N5100?
I've had the N5100 since shortly after launch. It's my primary phone. I don't have any problem with the screen freezing or signal dropping, but I'm on AT&T's network. Be advised, the N5100 is not LTE. Also, I don't get anywhere close to 7 hours screen time. When actively using GPS with Google Maps running, my battery will go from 100% --> 15% in 2 hours.

I might be ditching vzw for at&t and want to use my vzw note 2 on cm11 for a few months before I buy another phone. I am still undecided since im on an unlimited plan, but Im tired of seeing phones I want never get to vzw (nexus to mention one). Honestly also I really am that happy with my note 2 as well and the new stuff isnt appealing enough to drop $700 on.
I see all I need to do is change apn settings but what I cant seem to find is how fast will data speeds actually be (i know area matters) and if I will be able to take full advantage of what is comparable on at&t to vzw's 4g lte. All I know is one resource said I would get an H in the signal area but dont know what that means for data speeds. I can probably live with 8-10Mbps for a few months since I dont watch a ton of youtube on the go, 80% of data use is for music streaming and web browsing.

Its a world phone still, from what I have seen it gets every band at&t uses except their 4g. I have seen vzw note 2 results on t-mobile still getting 15Mbps without t-mobile 4g but curious if at&t would be the same, if so I would be ready to ditch vzw.
