I am selling this phone on CL soon. I reinstalled OptimusSE 2.2 to clear out everything. The only thing is my cell number is still listed in the About Phone--->Status part. How would I get this off? Also, is there any phone info I do not need to make public? Thanks :good:
what company is it.if sprint dial ##786# then click reset this should reset the the phone 100% and will take off the phone number too.
Where
Where are you from and how much are you asking for it? I may know a guy..

I just got my phone back today after it was stolen. During the time i didnt have it i deactivated the service on it. Would it be possible to activate it even though its on a whole other ROM?
Specifically Its on Mik-G RC1
EDIT: I decided to call *2 on my Evo and talked to the customer service rep and I got service back on it. Thanks jesuspgt for suggesting it!
Should be possible to activate it. If not, there's no reason that you couldn't just flash it back to stock, activate it, and then flash back to whatever you prefer.
The more important thing to worry about would be to make sure that you get the Lost/Stolen flag taken off that phone if you called and reported it stolen. To get it taken off you'll have to call customer care and ask them to remove it.
you should be able to without any problems. It's still the same phone with all the same S/N's and what ever other numbers they need to activate.
I would do that but the problem is that my SD card was stolen. I'm going to buy a new one in a while and i have a backup of the card on my PC, but I just want to activate it as soon as possible.

You most likely will need to flash a Sence based rom. I think if you did it over the phone you would have to enter a few things throgh the dailer app.
And most definitely if you took it to a Sprint store.
Few questions though, when you say "deactivate" do you mean you had your account put on hold or canceled?
Did you report it to Sprint as stolen? I ask this cause if you reported it stolen Sprint would/should have flashed the ESN on the phone. If they did it wont work.

Hi all,
Well my EVO has given me two great years, but Sprint's speeds just got too bad to bear in my area and I was tired of dealing with ROMs and such so I got a Galaxy Nexus on Straight Talk. I'd like to know what all I need to do to prepare my EVO to sell on eBay. Should I get it back to latest OTA or just sell it with CM 7.2 flashed? Is one or the other more desirable to buyers? Should I restore S-OFF/root? How do I securely wipe EVERYTHING so I feel safe none of my stuff got left behind?
A lot of auctions also mention devices having a bad ESN. If my Sprint service is terminated prior to selling can I ensure my device will not have a bad ESN and I can sell it as a device ready to be reactivated?
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would flash the latest stock Rom (it can't be activated with aosp installed) but I would leave it rooted. Also, if your contract was terminated for non payment then it would have a bad esn

Okay thanks. No my contract is over so I was going to port my number to Google Voice. Can I just do that and then sell the EVO or do I need to contact Sprint before porting?
I don't know much about gvoice but I would think you could port it without calling Sprint...but I don't know for sure

if you're serious you need to look up how to get your MSL, make sure EPST is working, run ##7780#, and get the phone into what is known as a "hands-free activation" state.
every evo i have bought on ebay - and i have bought a few - has had the previous users phone number and some kind of email address visible under settings .. about phone .. phone identity (sense) or settings .. about phone .. status (AOSP)
plus of course nuke your photos and music on the SD card - half the time people leave that stuff too .. smh ..

Thanks for the info...I do have my MSL on hand. How do I know EPST is working? Will that be the case if I flash a stock OTA? I haven't heard of this hand-free activation....is that what will best support a new user activating the phone and handle wiping my info out of About Phone?

Epst works if the pound codes work. Also how much are you selling yours for. My charging port has detached and carrying 2 plug in chargers and 2 extra batteries suck.

PM'd you.
So it's looking like I can't wipe out my name and phone number from the device. My number has already been ported to my new service and the Sprint account is cancelled. No dial codes work and factory reset/clear storage does not remove this info. I called a rep and she just said that the info from the last owner is going to be there until it's activated again, and she assured me that it was ready to be activated on a new line. I guess it's not a problem since the buyer would know my name and number anyway, but it's still a little weird. Does this sound correct?

Yes that's correct. Once its activated by a new user, they clear your number and all that and insert the new info. As for your name, where is that saved?

I think you can sell it to repair shop too
Just ask in the listing if they want to stock s-on, or rooted with s-off. I dont think either one is more desirable, depends on the buyer. Not everyone even knows what root it, as far as ESN, it should be clean. To confirm just call sprint and read them yours and see.
Hi,
I recently purchased a Sprint SG3 on craigslist, but was unable to activate it through Sprint. They told me that the serial number in the phone was different from the serial number behind the battery which meant the phone was probably flashed to another carrier.
I have never rooted my android phones before, therefore am at a lost. The sales rep told actually told me about this website. So my question is, how do I go about restoring the phone to factory settings.. like if it was just out the box. Please help! >.<
Run this.(I'd go with the wipes data version). When it boots up it will attempt activation. If it still isn't working, open the dialer and hit ##72786#. Best of luck

None of what has been posted is going to help you. All the "reset" advice will not change the serial (MEID/ESN) back to what it originally was (behind the battery/back of phone).
What happened is whoever had the phone previous to you "wrote" a different serial (MEID) using software, either for the purpose of using it on a different carrier or what-have-you.
Since you're obviously new to this, the fix is to find someone who "knows" about these things to write the correct serial back to the phone (frowned upon here on XDA) because they have to physically connect the phone to a computer and use software to do this. Or you can just take the loss and sell the phone back on Craigslist and list is as a BAD ESN.
If you were local to NYC, i could help you out, but alas...
A shot in the dark here but I need some assistance regarding the reversal of flashing the Epic 4G to Virgin Mobile, and then back to Sprint. I have done pretty much everything I researched, from resetting settings via ##72786# and ##786#, even Odin'd the stock FC09 and selecting Phone EFS Clear, and everything seems to have reset. But the values of the DEC/HEX number are different on both the battery sticker, and under About Phone.
Is this normal? I've attempted this because I was hoping to sell my Epic 4G and the guy who purchased it said it wasn't activating for him. When I got it back I noticed that the values from the Virgin Mobile flash were still programmed under About Phone. So after resetting everything, the values seem to be back to the normal and doesn't display the Virgin Mobile values, but the DEC/HEX numbers differ from each other on the sticker and under About Phone.
Was just curious if the DEC/HEX number that are being displayed under About Phone are the correct, or incorrect. I checked with Sprint via chat support and asked them to check for me if the ESN is clean, and apparently the DEC/ESN number that is listed under About Phone is clear and ready to activate, but the DEC/ESN number located on the battery sticker is not clear. If I were to sell the phone, would the buyer be able to activate it on Sprint if they gave Sprint the DEC/ESN number listed under About Phone? Would they have any problems?
Hope somebody can help me, as I'm really confused by this. Thanks.

The ESN on the sticker needs to match the ESN showing on About Phone. If the ESN on the sticker is bad, it's not going to activate on Sprint.
I just purchased this phone a week ago off of Craigslist, the phone worked great up until today. I noticed that I didn't have any service. I use a microcell at home so it was no big deal, thought that it had messed up like it does every now and again, however I got out to town where I usually have near full signal and still had none. I opened up settings and "Mobile Data" was turned off, I tried to toggle it back on and it will not allow me to do this. I went in to the "About Phone" part of the settings and the phone shows "Unknown" for cell phone number and IMEI.
This is the stock AT&T version G Pro that has not been rooted. I contacted AT&T thinking this may be a sim card problem or maybe I bought a stolen phone, but everything on their end seemed to be clean. I tried out a friends sim card and still had no luck. Called LG and they said I would need to send it in with a receipt. I don't have a receipt and I won't pay for them to repair the phone, because I'm sure the bill will wind up being more than the phone is worth.
Has anyone else had this problem? Are their any fixes anyone can think of that doesn't involve rooting the device? If not, what steps will I need to take to recover my IMEI so that the phone will actually make/receive phone calls and texts?

Are YOU SURE you did not do anything to the phone? Cause loosing an IMEI requires the USER to do something wrong, like flashing other carrier Versions.

I've had my phone do that before. Wasn't rooted or hacked in any way. I didn't even know of a way to do it. What fixed mine was a **** load of factory resets. And I mean a **** LOAD!!! Luckily it came back and I've been good ever since. Don't know what happened or how but that was very weird.
Note to the wise: I don't care who says what about what! NEVER buy a phone off of craigslist or from anyone for that matter other than a carrier or authorized reseller. Because when it breaks, you can't do **** about it!

Well I have no reason to lie about something like this. I've only rooted one phone of the dozen or so I've owned and that was a old Galaxy Note.
This morning when I got home from work the phone had 76% battery left, woke up and it was dead. It powered up and showed 2% battery. I went into battery under settings, android system used 26% of the battery. Not sure that's enough to drain the batter while I was asleep.
Must be something definitely wrong in the phone.

Yeah, lesson learned. Craigslist is usually where I do my cell phone trading and buying.
I'll keep trying resets to see if this fixes the problem. Thanks!
Try to re flash a stock using an LG flash tool it might work as what other users did on their G Pro have the same issues
Still haven't found anything that works.
I'm guessing something has malfunctioned in the phone.
