Should i update to 5.1.1? - Sony Smartwatch 3

Hi, today I got Smartwatch 3 for my birthday and I already updated it to 5.0.2......My question is if I should update to 5.1.1 because I've heard about battery issues......does it really happen to every smartwatch?

Yes
no, doesn't happen to every watch, (I didn't have those issues since day 1 of owning mine)
If you do update, there is a newer build out anyway for 5.1.1 which to some people apparently "fixed" the issue and in my case, I just got even better battery life out of it and it adds a couple of other features

Its on its way. http://www.verizonwireless.com/dam/support/pdf/system_update/benefits-note-4-4-2-15.pdf?null
If you want ROOT, you may want to hold off on the update until we can verify that we can downgrade to KK with no problems. A KK Root method is in the works and could be released this weekend.
I am downloading the first of 2 updates here in Des Moines Iowa now.
I got the notice also
I am also just installing update one of two. If interested, I will post results in a bit
All done and updated... [emoji4] [emoji4] [emoji4]
If root comes to this, cool.. But if not, oh well. I have lived without it this long on this device. And so far(typically it is choppy after an update), is running smooth on mine at least..
done
It says now version 5.0.1, which we were expecting but it really heated up my phone and sucked up half the battery so make sure you connect your charger and it is over 1gig so connect to wifi for the update. Im still playing around with it so I havent much to say about it yet...
This could just be me, but I was running the stock and I just updated to 5.0.1, and not my phone keeps crashing after 1-2 minutes. Even when I'm doing nothing it keeps crashing. Is anyone else having this issue??
Update is garbage.
Not a fan of Lollipop with Touchwizz.
good here!
Ive been playing around with it and it has been great since the update. no crashes or anything...
Loaded the update an hour or so ago and smooth sailing thus far. The handset was very warm during the update but cooled back to normal afterwards.
Liking the animation changes thus far. just making sure there have been no battery draining gremlins introduced.
Note 4 root
There is a possiblity of the retail note 4 root this weekend?

So, Umm... Should I Update?

Hello everyone.
As I'm sure many of you are, I'm caught in the boat of owning a VZW Note 4, loving it mostly, yet pining for the days of controlling my own hardware. As of right now, I'm on the very first 5.0.1 update... Waiting.
The version I'm on has terrible battery drain issues. Is it worth waiting at this version any longer?
I honestly don't want to root the device for features... I enjoy a lot of what's going on on this phone. I'm just convinced some of those Samsung processes running are watching something I do. I just want to control which processes run on my phone.
I'd just like to see what others have done / think. Thanks!

My battery life is amazing. I also ran the debloater and blocked a ton of apps. The phone is a beast.

@extensive What version are you on? 5.0.1? I'm not denying the phone is a beast, though I'm certain my battery life is terrible compared to the last 4.X.X version. If the debloater will help with that, I'm all about it!
Edit: and a follow up question... Does the debloater work with whatever the most recent version is? Thanks very much!

I'm stock, I've taken all the updates. I get great battery life, but I also disable pretty much every Google and Verizon service on the phone because I don't use a single one with the exception of the play store. This phone has been out for a year now, the likelihood of permanent root coming is slim to none. Closer to none.
Most people keep a phone for 18 months to 2 years. I take each update gladly because at the end of the day, I'd rather enjoy using my phone than to hold off while it depreciates in value and reaches the end of it's lifespan. I'd hate to to see myself in March or April thinking, "Geeeeeeez, I'm still on Kit Kat but I know somebody is going to obtain permanent root any day now." LOL
Oh, and to be honest, you've got far more to worry about with Google watching what you do than with Samsung. The entire OS and all the services are built to watch what you do, Samsung just wants to cell you expensive phones, hence why the closer to the end of the lifespan, their phones start to get glitchier and slower, etc......... Then they can repeat the cycle. Been down that road three times with them.

Look at your build number. Are you on BOAF? I was on that, that's the version you're able to downgrade to 4.4.4, so I did so so I was able to temp root. I'd noticed terrible battery drain in comparison to 5.0.1 BOAF. I'd read that a FDR fixes that issue. There are other updates past BOAF, which I'm sure you're aware of, but are not downgradable, so you'd be stuck in 5.0.1 or above forever. If you did downgrade to 4.4.4, you can take the OTA no problem, and it'll set you back into 5.0.1 BOAF, I've done this a few times by just taking a chance.
In terms of the whole root situation, I'm not happy with the progress. KingRoot does root it, but I've always had problems with SuperSU-Me Pro, which is attributed to the write protection, I'm sure. I must have an app that interferes with it all, so maybe that's why it won't work correctly. That being said, I might just forget the whole thing and just go ahead and take the OTAs and kiss the thought of root goodbye. I really don't know why a root hasn't been found for our Verizon Note 4 on 5.0.1, even though root has been found on other 5.0.1 devices. Maybe it's because Verizon takes so damn long to release updates, such that they make sure vulnerabilities are patched, so people can't root their devices, which sucks.
I'm on the latest stock LP 5.0.1 and have used the debloater and my note 4s both get awesome battery life. They get the same if not better than when they were on KK 4.4.4. I will not be upgrading till these 2 note 4s die!

Similar question, just got my phone which came with BOF1 installed. While waiting and watching for root - any advantage to staying on this version vs. any known disadvantage from taking the current update?

This isn't the best news.

We can probably safely say March or April. Oh well.
All kidding aside: llabtoofer just said within the next 3 weeks all you guys in Europe should have it. Enjoy

Nougat is not ready for prime time. Not impressed at all. My custom MM rom works perfectly. I tried Nougat. Uninstalled.
Looks like soon it would be the US unlocked users getting angry : why the heck we're using a buggy version??
Even now it's EU users are complaining : when the heck could we taste nougat...??

Maximus HD is based on leaked EU update. And I am not talking about that.
Maybe you haven't seen what does the dev of Maximus say about the upcoming EU OTA?
No one has specified what "buggy" even means... is it something minor like a laggy UI or a major security vulnerability like stagefright?
*bugs* is a bull excuse in regards to no updates
while while they're fixing these bugs *with N then why didnt they continue to update our devices on MM with the monthly security updates ?
Europe unlocked devices haven't had an update since October & that came with the august 2016 security patch what happened too September, November , December, January
this fixed version of N will be out in February according to llabtoofer will likely be 7.0, we probably wont see 7.1 until spring (htc ultra hasn't even released yet & thats on 7.0)

I'm taking about you said US users now will be angry about why they were left with a buggy firmware, and I'm telling you I used it with the stock ROM and I'm not angry about it. He said the EU build was more stable, that doesn't mean that the US was a bad build though and yes, it may be based on such firmware but I'm using it with the US one

Come on man, I am not saying US update isn't good. I am saying compare to EU update, US one is less responsive and less smooth. Been treated differently might make some users angry. #sense of humour#...
I am sure the US will also get the equivalent matching update around the same time
7.0 has been a mess, and even 7.1.1 has alot of problems, even on nexus/pixel devices. It would suck to be on 7.x and have that 30% battery bugg that alot of people experience. And thats just the obvious buggs.
7.x does not offer enough of a upgrade to make it worth having a buggy release. Esp if one is stuck with that buggy version for months.
I have the Nougat update on my T-Mobile HTC 10 completely stock not rooted and have experienced a few bugs.the day after I updated I took a picture and the phone froze went into a reboot and actually rebooted itself 4 times before it went back into the system. Had a random reboot another time and had an instance where my phone would not charge but a reboot fixed the issue
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
And please remember there's no OS nor app is bug free in the world. It is an excuse but also the truth.
I bought iPhone 7 last just want to experience a "smooth OS", but it freezed while taking a picture, battery drops very quickly and phone got every hot randomly... So yeah, back to HTC.

I tried N for a bit on Viper and had bad battery drain so I went back to MM and still had that battery drain, I found out Facebook has been causing bad battery so I uninstalled it and Messenger and seems to be much better. I was wondering if Facebook was my issue on N as well or if it was Android N causing it. Guess I will stick with MM for now.
I've been on Nougat for some time now (unlocked) and I have noticed any issues. What exactly is the problem?

Is your device US unlocked ? Do all your apps that auto sync or update do so while you're using battery saver, or while you're on data? Only way I can get gmail and other similarly syncing apps is on Wi-Fi without using battery saver

i meant to say that I haven't noticed any issues, but clearly you understood me. ?
Anyway, I get push gmail notifications as usual, no issues there. I'm almost always only on mobile data, and rarely ever use battery saver. I have an unlocked stock US model.
The only minor issue I've noticed is that sometimes I don't get notified of whatsapp messages (via the notification shade), if multiple are received at around the same time.
The only bug i've found was in the Settings.
If you enter it, press back button and then try to enter again, it'll take some seconds to show up.
Everything else is ok.

Rollback to Marshmallow?

So, I suppose that many of you have heard of the infamous Nougat battery drain. I've been experiencing it ever since I upgraded to 7.0. It's not necessarily a big problem, since I can still get through a normal, full day of use.. but it's still very noticeable. From the more than 4 hours of SoT I used to get, I can now barely get more than two, normally even lower. I have no idea what the problem is, I've tried everything. And since I'm going to go on a trip soon, I'm really going to need a good battery life.
So, I was thinking about rolling it back to Marshmallow. I'm S-OFF, so I'll use a RUU.zip. Before doing that however, I would love to hear some opinions. Has anyone else given up on Nougat? Anyone who experienced the Nougat drain? And is the battery indeed better on MM?
We're on an outdated security patch anyway, July 2017 and we're already in October, but would returning to whatever security patch the last MM version had be dangerous?
Thanks in advance.

I have been on U.S Unlocked nougat since the initial release and I have no such problem. Battery ain't what it used to be but I always hit 4 hours sot.
You could try flashing a Sense-based custom rom like Viper or Leedroid first to see if there is an improvement.
Regarding security, based on all the people *****ing in the Updates thread I'm pretty sure your phone will immediately contract the Ebola virus after downgrading to MM. Either that, or you're probably fine with the "old" security patches on MM. Your choice to try though.
S-OFF, flash MM RUU

I think my network reception has gone bad after the update. I don't know for sure as it could be my network and I have already registered a complaint with them.
Anyone else having bad network reception after the August update?
Hey,
Is anyone having this weird problem where you have to plug in the cable twice into the phone to charge, cause first time it shows "CHARGING OVER USB"...and on the second try it's TURBOCHARGING..

The October patches were not released until 4 days before this update was released.
No way they incorporated and tested a new build in 4 days.
If they just released the August patches, that's ~60 days to incorporate and test the changes.
Just be happy you got that. Some of us are still several months farther back.
If you want fast updates, unlock the bootloader and run a custom ROM that gets more frequent updates. (That was one of the reasons I chose this phone, but I have needed to do it yet)

Moto is no longer same now. Even Sony has started rolling Oreo for XZ series, our device is still struggling with Nougat.
And I have 4 Moto (2 are already rooted and on custom rom) only with hope of faster updates, but all that hope is lost now.

Since LOS 15 is testing I've not lost hope.
Still, I wouldn't complain too much about 60 days for a security patch. I think we wil see stock O before the year is done.
Then again, I still run KK on my phone (the Moto G5+ is my wife's).
Not received any update
