To Root your P8000 stock you just need to install SuperSU from Playstore, it works out the box
Playstore -> SuperSU (cant link)
Download -> INSTALL -> ROOT no more steps needed
My, that easy.?
Does this mean that the bootloader is unlocked?
I've got an Huawei Honor 3x Pro G750-T20 which todate is still unrootable because the damn bootloader is locked
i.e that is why I'm getting this device.
Just waiting for delivery which I hope would be soon.
And thanks for the headsup.

I think you would have to uninstall and reinstall the SuperSU. And see if the prompt to update binaries come up.

you have to install the su binarys and libs from recovery.
otherwise it can not work with only installing supersu.
with the stock recovery you can not install it. you need cwm or TWRP for it. that means you must root the phone with the flashtool
after that all is done you can install the supersu.zip in recovery and root it

There are several people here who claim they've rooted the phone simply via installing SuperSU directly from Google Play (the ”normal” way - no pun intended). With both the stock and the newer (OTA or otherwise installed) firmware.
I'm not yet sure how that is even possible, but it might have something to do with what another user said, that the official ROM appears to be pre-rooted - as evidenced by his banking app (Barclay's) and despite any other bench-marking apps.
I have yet to receive my device (one more week or so until arrival), but that's definitely what I'm going to try first.

As it's impossible to start SuperSU without ROOT on the phone we can take for granted that some P8000 has been delivered pre-ROOTED...
Mine wasn't, but i tried the suggested out of curiousity and of course it did NOT work
I just installed SuperSU on my P8000, it asked for something or other that was recommended for HTC phones? I just clicked 'Normal' and it installed OK, then asked for a reboot.
Looked in settings after reboot and it says 'Superuser is enabled'. Does this mean that my phone is now rooted?
How can I tell?
Thanks
I also only installed the SuperSU App via Play Store and it works like a charm. I can run Titanium Backup and all other stuff that requires root with no problems. I am running the stock rom 20150725.
I also just downloaded SuperSU as the OP suggested and surprisingly it worked! I dowloaded root checker as well and a prompt showed up asking for root permission.
Awesome!

I know I am a senior member of XDA but I am not a developer at all. Please don't blame me for the questions that will follow. I tried looking through the threads and Google but I can't find straightforward answers.
So here they are:
1.) I am still on Android 4.3 waiting for the update. I am rooted, have TWRP recovery and have stock odexed ROM. Let's say the 4.4 update arrives and I want to update. Can I update with the custom recovery?
2.) Some people say that after rebooted in TWRP, nothing happens. Then how can I know where the OTA .zip file is located and...question 1.) again.
3.) Let's say the update went fine and I know that root is lost. Could I have saved it before the update using something like root survive method?
4.) If not, then it means I need to reroot again. How can I reroot WITHOUT using the PC? (Please don't ask why I don't use the PC)
I am not a total noob, just these questions are unanswered for me. I have a HTC One X too and from that I know updating with custom recovery is not possible and needs stock one. My Nexus 7 is just not like the HTC.
Thank you for reading, hopefully someone can answer. The answers can be short but I should understand.

Ok, I think I know the answers
1.) Yes
3.) I just need to reflash the Super SU through custom recovery
4.) Answer 3.)
Question 2.) Hopefully someone can answer, where is the location of the OTA download, I heard in some kind of cache folder....?
Gesendet von meinem HTC One X mit Tapatalk
I'm not nearly an expert so you should search the general forum section. Try searching "twrp ota 4.4"
1. If you have a custom recovery, you'll get the OTA download, but it won't install. You have two choices, either install the OTA from a downloaded file or restore the N7 to stock recovery.
2. There are several threads with a lot of good information in the general section. I had TWRP installed and followed the instructions on the last update, it worked without a problem. I've since rooted but use the stock recovery. I'm waiting for v4.4 and once that's loaded I'll decide if I want to go back to a custom recovery.
3 and 4. No idea. I've seen various discussions here and other web sites so check Google. I don't recall seeing a way to root without a PC for the N7 but I have seen it with other devices.
THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE A "TUTORIAL", IT´S JUST TO DOCUMENT MY STEPS TO GET AN CUSTOM ROM!

When you want to install Hyd52rom for KK you don't need to go over the Chinese firmware just flash the KK beta. And I don't know if the unlock code helps.
Gesendet von meinem HUAWEI P6-U06 mit Tapatalk
1) Full backup is not possible. What you can do is to have a backup via TWRP or CWM. After flashing your backup, you can reflash the stock recovery via fastboot to make the changes seamless.
2) That's really interesting. Never have seen this method before to unlock the bootloader. If it works, you have found a new way to unlock the bootloader for our Huawei P6 community! That would be awesome! Otherwise, you will have to go through the risk of bricking by flashing B118cn or B120cn. Or you can try installing Kitkat beta since I heard that it also works, and it is much less risky. I would probably install the kitkat beta if the method you showed didn't work.
3) Well that works. But if you are on kitkat you will need a different root method such as flashing superuser.zip.
4) TWRP is better than CWM imho. I used to like CWM the best, but TWRP was easier to use and had more features such as charging battery, having access to terminal, backups, restores, installing zips and wiping certain partitions. CWM on the other hand in my experience can only install zips, do backups and restores, and do a factory reset (format /data only). So I highly recommend TWRP over CWM. And the link you posted of TWRP is for kitkat.
This is what you can try with least risk of bricking:
i)You can update to kitkat directly with unlocked bootloader.
ii) Do what I have on my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49986799&postcount=10
and you will have TWRP easily installed.
5) I can't help you with this one, never tried it. TBH I am skeptical that a ROM can be that good especially with hardware as a limitation to certain features. But by all means go ahead and try it if you want to.
Thanks so far!
Does the order i´ve suggested make sense?

It lacks a order of how you should get to a custom rom, but everything from instructions to unlock, root, disassembly, themes are all there.
Base: B125
Okay...what i´ve done so far:
1) Unlock the Bootloader (success!)
Used this Method:
Unlock Bootloader - Fastboot Method
Things learned:
a) The easiest way to enter fastboot is by "adb reboot-bootloader" via cmd
b) hisuite Driver works fine
c) There is no "Fastboot"-Option on the P&, don´t look for it
d) The article above states it will do automatically a factory reset, in my case, it didn´t! So i can still make a full Backup after next step...
2) Installed TWRP (success!)
Used this Method:
Permanent Recovery TWRP 2.6.3.3
3) Doing full Backup on my SD-Card with TWRP
Currently waiting
Next step planned: Install custom Rom.
No guarantee this works for everyone, but i´m happy right now . I´ll update this Thread.

Well I guess this is good news. The bootloader unlock no longer requires going to B118cn or B120cn! Now just via terminal
Backup completed.
4) Rooting Device via TWRP (System reboot) and Play Store Method (success!)
So, time to sum up:
Unlock B125, intall TWRP, make Backup, Root. SUCCESS!
Next Steps/Questions:
Install custom Rom: Which one is the most "stable"?
Install custem Rom: Do i have to install Stock Kitkat Beta to install Kitkat Custom Rom? Or can i just install custom Kitkat Mod right away?
TWRP: After update to Kitkat...do i HAVE to update TWRP (special version for Kitkat)?
Thanks!
Worked for me too. And before when i check if my bootloader is open there stands it was open, I tried to flash something that doesn't work.
Than I used the command and than i was able to flash TWRP.
And also he didn't make a factory reset.

I think it is best for you to install stock kitkat beta to install kitkat based roms, even though some people haven't run into issues without doing so.
And yes, I would recommend you to update TWRP to special version for kitkat, but yet again, some people haven't experienced issues while some have.
Okay, currently downloading Kitkat Beta (using Mirror from huaweiblog.de; sorry, can´t post outside links; not sure if it is the same like here). Let´s see where this story ends

8) Installing Custom Rom (success!)

Looks good so far, still testing...
Sorry, it's a little bit late
I managed to install TWRP and rebooted.
But now I can't boot into TWRP. If I send "adb reboot recovery" or press VOL- and Power when the phone is off the device starts and gets stuck at the Huawei Ascend Logo
Please disconnect your Phone from USB (in case you are still connected) and just power off the phone. Wait a few seconds and just restart. For me this one worked.
After this power off again and try VOL + and - and Power to get into TWRP. Does it work?

2) Move the SuperSU zip file to your external SD card
3) Install CWM by adb fastbooting it

5) Flash the SuperSU zip file that is in your external SD card
6) Reboot phone
7) Wait about 1-2 mins until everything loads up (including SuperSU) {I had to wait this long}
8) Check root with root checker

You can't use that utility to flash a recovery on 4.4. The recovery in that utility is not compatible with 4.4. You need to get the CWM recovery out of the Razr HD forum and flash via ADB.
I got a Razr M yesterday its on official KK and the bootloader is Locked, i don't know anything about moto devices only used htc, samsung, sony and i know about fastboot, adb, flashing roms, kernels, recovery etc on these devices, so i need a little assistance (links/tutorials/guides) to unlock, root and some device specific fastboot functions.

In Marshmallow to flash twrp and root you need to have modified boot img first (unlocked bootloader is a must as well). So basically what you want to do is to unpack boot.img from a custom kernel such as SimpleGX that I used and flash this boot.img via fastboot, it obviously doesn't have all the features and may cause software problems in a long term but its modified so it allows you to flash custom recovery, then root if the kernel doesn't have it by default and lastly flash full kernel package to avoid the bugs.

hi,
im using a mi a2 lite,
so the problem is that twrp can't access /storage/emulated/..., when i open the folder, its completely empty, i've mounted everything, some people recommended to put the zip file to / but you need root to do that, and i'm trying to root my phone with magisk,
so it's kinda a catch 22 here, i can't root because i need to root to be able to move the zip file to root with magisk, some people suggested to use a usb otg, but i dont have any,
i also tried to install cwm recovery but there are no version of cwm for the mi a2 lite,
any help would be appriciated.

so the problem is that twrp can't access /storage/emulated/..., when i open the folder, its completely empty, i've mounted everything, some people recommended to put the zip file to / but you need root to do that, and i'm trying to root my phone with magisk,
so it's kinda a catch 22 here, i can't root because i need to root to be able to move the zip file to root with magisk, some people suggested to use a usb otg, but i dont have any,
i also tried to install cwm recovery but there are no version of cwm for the mi a2 lite,
any help would be appriciated.

You can get root by patching the boot file (instruction somewhere). After that you can do anything you want.
SOLVED!

Nevermind, I did what Hoang told me, unlocked the boot loader, get the boot.img file from the stock rom on xiaomi's website, move it to my phone, open the magisk manager app, patch the boot.img, moved it to my PC, then go to fastboot mode and on the PC type "fastboot boot [drive-letter]:/path/to/the/patched_boot.img", then open the magisk manager app then click install(recommended) then reboot, install root checker and done!
You can find the tutorial here:

(Can't post links because I'm still a junior member)
It's in Indonesian but you can use Google translate
The problem with this method is that the magisk manager app will be removed when you update the Android to the next patch, so you will need to find the latest ROM with the updates and patches included,
Thanks for replying to my thread,
Tristan

In the instruction they also show how to update without removing Magisk, is that not works?
You can patch the image and flash, load it via mtp or use an sdcard. Also the files are not at /emulated/stuff but simply either at /external storage or .sdcard
