Battery Life - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

Been off the charger for 18 hours now, pretty heavy usage today, 6 hours of screen on time, LTE running the whole day, lot of browsing, facebooking and 2 hours of netflix and I've still got 34 percent left. I find this very well considering this is the phones first discharge cycle. This is better than my Note 4.

What is the proper procedure for this new Lithium poly battery anyway compared to plain Lithium out of box run it drain til 0 completely then first charge it all the way overnight making sure it's all the way with power off? Is that necessary? Mine comes tomorrow according to ups super excited.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm reporting excellent battery life as well. Just played 18 holes of golf with the SKY Golf GPS running the whole time. My Note 4 would have lost about 60 to 70% battery through the entire round. s6 edge + dropped about 25 to 30. Very happy.

With these new lithium batteries, there is nothing special
that we need to do because unlike the old Nickel Cadmium
(NiCaD-NiCd) batteries the newer Lithium rechargeable
batteries don't retain any memory which means it can be
charged anytime, no need to wait til its totally or close to
totally discharged.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

I just got the phone 24 hours ago, and am patiently waiting to find a way to
unlock it!
Tmobile gave me a 14 day test drive so I can decide whether to keep it or not.
So far this is what I found:
Now after 24 hours with this new phone I can attest that it's so much faster than
the note 4 that anyone will be able to tell the speed and smoothness differences
right away after trying it out, no need for a Antutu speed test. LOL
Not only is the phone fast, but when I copy stuff like videos, music and pictures
to and from the phone it acts as if it had usb 3.0 instead of 2.0, it copies a 1gb
file to or from it's internal sd card twice or three times faster than my note 4 can.
Also the camera is super amazing, the auto focus is lighting fast, it instantly locks
on without any hesitation at all. The pictures and videos it takes are truly amazing.
Almost forgot, the fingerprint sensor no longer needs a swipe, it works
normally now like the iphone does but it's a lot more accurate and faster
than the iphone's fingerprint sensor.
I already put my N910T up for sale at swappa and [email protected]!

They both have exactly the same specs except for the note 5 has the s-pen.
So this is why I chose the S6+...
Since I never use the s-pen I thought to myself, why not get the galaxy S6+
instead, it's such a beautiful phone, none of the other brands of phones even
comes close to it's beautiful physical appearance so I thought, why spend big
bucks on a new note 5 which looks just about identical to my note 4.
The S6+ is not only gorgeous and different from any other phone but it's also very futuristic.

The curved screen works just like advertised, it's actually
something really nice to have as an additional feature.
I am not sure if people know this, but the edge screen
on the right hand side can be switched to the left side
of the screen too, perhaps it's better that way for left
handed people.
Also from what I have read, as soon as we have a way to
root and install custom recovery the devs will be making
a lot of different and additional options and features for
the edge screen.
I have had the S6 Edge+ now for one and a half days and

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Unboxing & Hands-On

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ne8eaaGTdg
My unboxing of the Galaxy Nexus. Really liking this phone so far! Coming from an iPhone 4S and Nexus S, the GNex is unlike anything I've ever used. It definitely has the best display I've seen so far, slightly beating out the iPhone 4S. Hope you guys enjoy! If you want to see any specific videos let me know on here or on the video comments!
nice vid!.
thanks for posting
Love to see some battery results, especially battery drain while idle over a few hours (simulate a work day, gmail going, wifi off, 3g connected)
I took the phone off the charger when it got to 100% about 45 minutes ago. Now its at 80% but I had force hardware acceleration on. I really hope the battery adjusts and gets better because a 20% drain that fast is a little ridiculous.

The first few charges/discharges on Samsung batteries work wonders for battery life.
My Nexus S and SGSII had terrible battery life on the first few charges. Was concerning. After those initial cycles, the life was so much better. Got 2 days 16 hrs on my SGSII just prior to my GNEX arriving this Friday morning.
The GNEX is on 11 h 50m now and has 25 minutes left. Charged it when FedEx delivered it at 11am mountain today. I'd say that's pretty great as I've been using the hell out of it since it arrived. I expect subsequent charges to add to the life and am not worried one bit about getting a full day out of it (par for the course - it's not a flip-phone).

Is your Galaxy S II on the stock kernel/rom? I can't wait to install a custom kernel on this bad boy. Developers are saying the stock kernel really isn't that good. I'm also noticing a good bit of heat generating from around the camera during normal usage.

@nikolaittt TI's spec says anything up to 83 (celsius) is okay for normal operation (according to commits in the kernel). These things run very hot.

Is it the "Force GPU rendering...Use 2D hardware acceleration in applications" setting? That doesn't sound like hardware acceleration...it sounds like a setting to force apps that aren't ICS coded to run faster. Or maybe the OS is hardware accelerated but apps aren't?
Why would hardware acceleration be disabled out of the box? That's one of the most anticipated features of ICS...

It isn't disabled by default. The entire OS and all ICS optimized apps are hardware accelerated by default. Older apps that haven't been optimized for ICS may not have hardware acceleration, so there's an option to force it until the developer optimizes the app for ICS.

Thanks! On medium to high brightness, whites look okay. I want to say mine have a slight reddish tint but its so faint that it won't bother me. All displays have some kind of tint. On low brightness whites tend to look a little grainy but its nothing to stress about.

Right now the Galaxy Nexus, mainly because of the screen and ICS. It'll come down to battery life though. If I can't make it through a full day on the GNex I'll have to use the iPhone 4S.

Thinking about getting it

I currently have the galaxy s2. Hows the battery life on the nitro? Cause I had the LG thrill and it sucked and so did the camera. How is that on the nitro?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Stock, the battery life of the Nitro isn't so great. About in the neighborhood of 8hrs with medium usage. If you don't mind rooting, debloating and tweaking than you can get better results.
The 8mp camera on the Nitro is decent to good. Sharpness, saturation and white balance are about on par with any other higher-end phone. The negative though is it can take up to 6 seconds from 1st shot before you can take the next shot...So this is NOT an action capable camera.
There's another thread with literally the EXACT same subject line as this new thread created, with the last word being the only difference:

I wouldn't say 6 seconds, dat's a little steep, but definitely not instantaneous; ballpark i say is somewhere around 3 seconds shutter lag, but that might be due to the crappy 16GB class 2 SD Card that comes with most of the P930.
No lag on Class 4 sdcard, rooted, hard reset and debloated.

what does that cut the shutter lag to? have you tried a faster card than class 4?
I have a class 4 and it takes 2-3 seconds between pictures.
sounds like the class 4 takes a little more than a second off the process. i'm getting ~4 seconds shutter refresh on indoor well-lit snaps, maybe a bit quicker outdoors in full sun.
anyone tried a class 10? usually overkill for a p&s but maybe with this device........
Processing lag is about 2 seconds with class 4 but then I havent seen a phone that was faster. Is class 10 on the market? I saw class 6 but the reviews said that they write speed gain was barely noticable.
Btw this is my second day without recharging mid day so the baterry is not near as bad as evo 4g or any mobile on wimax.
Also for anyone that caress, the touchscreen is a bit different than on sg2 or skyrocket (a bit different response wise). I definitely noticed that I am making less mistakes while typing. It seems way more precise than anything before.
Sent from my LG-P930 using Tapatalk
It's probably related to finger-to-finger difference. My typing on Nitro is way worse then on Atrix 4g, with keyboard buttons smaller then on Nitro.
My typing on my galaxy s2 sucks lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
The keyboard on this phone actually drives me nuts sometimes. When posting for example, it's incredibly slow to register my inputs. But, over texting it's almost too sensitive. I don't know why but it also registers the first letter twice sometimes. I guess I just have to get more used to it. Wish it can be iPhone keyboard smooth.
just fine
At first I was skeptical of this phone.
Now, it works just well. I can stream music for an easy 6 hrs. I can do the same task I've done on any other phone with pretty much the same battery usage. If I'm having a slow day at work and I know I'm using my phone heavy I will plug it in and use it. Or if i'm driving I will have in charging. it's exactly the same way I treated my iphone or other phones in the past.
The soft keyboard is a bit touch and it does lag pretty good at times..
The phone is fair. There is really nothing out there that my provider can offer (BELL)
It's got the HTC RAIDER (even worse battery life) and the Nexus (no expandable storage) - which was actually the deal breaker. I do not like being restricted to 16gb max. I like to know I can carry another one with me or have a 32gb. I like to carry movies and music..
I still wish there were more phones with FM tuner built in.. That would be perfect!
Just my 2 cents I guess.
I bought the sgs2 skyrocket, exchanged it for the nitro HD, and then returned the device 2 days later. The battery life, even with little use, is bad. I would seriously think long and hard about making the switch.
It doesn't matter to me which phone folks get but 2 days with this phone is simply not enough time to accurately gauge this battery. Hell, I don't think a week is enough
This phone needs a fair bit of set-up, including full drains/charges and bloat cleared out, etc. but after more than a month with this phone I can say the battery is performing entirely different than it did on day 2 and it is not an issue (other than my trying to make it one).
The fact of the matter boils down to this for me:
I wanted the screen and I wanted the LTE. Those features are part of what defines this phone and those 2 features are the top battery drains and would be on any phone.
I agree with what Scott mentioned regarding the battery. A little over a month and now the battery can last much much longer even with gaming and all. Somehow the phone adapts to your usage and becomes more efficient. Not much more, but better than when it was fresh out the box.

I'm glad to hear that your experience is similar, says a lot about this device.
Another thing about the battery, it charges fast IMO. I like to let mine go to full drain before charging up and I just did a full charge in 1 hour ~40 minutes and that reflects most charge times for me.
I don't have much experience charging other smart phones but that's a very acceptable time for me.

Yup, indeed this phone's battery charges really fast, fastest of course with chargers that give out higher amps. Using the stock charger (1.2 amps) I can fully charge the phone at about the same time u mention, sometimes even faster. Using blackberry chargers (0.8 amps), it takes a bit longer, but still fast. It's nice to see a phone charge that fast. The atrix took a long time to fully charge, and that's not from a full drain too.

note 2 vs iphone 5 battery life

Does anyone know which device has a better battery life? I'm having hard like deciding which one to buy and I care about battery life the most in a phone. So if anyone knows please reply!
After owning them, I can say Note 2 has, say 15-20% better battery backup than iPhone 5.

I can't speak to the iphone 5, but the Galaxy Note 2 is by far the best battery life mobile device I have ever used.
Unplugged when I wake up around 730-8am, Pandora in the shower and while I get dressed, gps/google maps/pandora on the way to work, web browsing, downloading, some games during the day, pandora and sometimes gps at lunch, browsing, downloading in the afternoon, gps, google maps and pandora on the way home, it's always above 50% when I get home around 6-7pm. Just as a test I left Pandora running when I got home once and didn't plug it in, by midnight I still had 20%+ battery left.
This thing is a BEAST on battery life. I cannot imagine the iphone 5 with much smaller battery being better.... possible maybe, but not likely.

My guess is that GPS is needed when outside to ensure that phone is trackable in case it is lost/stolen.
For smartphones, Note 2 battery life is only second to RAZR MAXX, which has a 3300mah battery and a smaller screen.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Iphone 4 bttery 1400mah
Iphone 4s battery 1450mah
Iphone 5 battery 1450 mah with larger scrren and afaster processor
So apple has increased the size and functionality of the phone and given somewhat the same battery power
Our phone note 2 has a 3100 mah battery and would beat the ip5 hands down
I was on ip4 and the battery was wery good my friends 4s battery draind like hell and he switched to ip4 again ans the same reasonhe didnot buy aiphone 5 cause the battery is same asthe 4s wt abigger screen and 4g on idont think the baterrys gonna last
The only reaso i changed frm s2 to note is fr battery life and i am gettin 3 times more battery than my s2 andd abouttwice as much than the iphone 4 which is by date the best iphone in tems of speed and battery life
So i can say buy note2 or a iphone4 if u want agood battery life
I am happy to hv switched over to note 2
iOS is much lighter and well optimized than Android, so it doesn't actually mean 1450 mAh battery of iPhone 5 will give a bad backup or something.
I really am enjoying the iPhone 5 battery backup, getting almost 2 days out of it. But as I said, Note 2 gives little better backup, at least 20% I would say.

In Iphone is you get is an app drawer. There are no home screen, widgets, and the dozens of other features available in android. In an Iphone, when you put an app in the background, it pauses the app, as opposed to android, which keep the app running in the background. Does that make it lighter than android? Sure, but I don't know if I'd call crippled functionality and giving users the bare minimum as "optimized", but whatever floats your boat.
Works about as long, if not longer than my G1 with extended battery.
with moderate use the battery runs to 75-80% Leaving it on all night I barely lost any battery. It was ready for day 2.
After heavy use it was at 50% by midnight(from 9am)
It's all to do with individual usage. Different hardware and different operating systems make it impossible to compare.
Surely iOS vs Android would be more of a deciding factor?
The Note ii battery is excellent.

True but on the other hand you don't need battery monitoring cpu apps like andeoid which can cause problems from pos apps thats cause wakelocks like ebay etc.one thing I like about iPhone is the single push notification service which runs which handles all push traffic and doesn't rely on phone having multiple data connections open to random foreign servers, google should do something similar.. There are some good points of iPhone that google should steal as apple does itself, PNS is one of them. But I'm not going to turn this into an apple debate.
Those with note 2, with heavy usage did u ever have to charge it twice a day? Heavy usage as in watching lots of YouTube videos, browsing the web, texting, using a bit of GPS and such

That's the same reason an Escalade will have a bigger gas tank than a Yaris, even though the latter is "lighter".

Note 4 vs LG G4

Hi
I'm thinking to switch from a note 4 to a LG G4 but before I wanted to decide on want to ask the G4 users how there experience is with the phone. How is battery life and heat with this phone? How is camera?
I'm a moderate gamer but I watch often movies on my phone. S pen is not that important for me
the biggest problem of LG G4 is only about battery. I personally just can achieve 4-6 hours of battery life. My G4 was worked normally until last week: the temperature became 60'C, always restarting when overheated (now my G4 is at LG Service Center). Camera is absolutely the best, even note5 can't beat it. Screen size is only 5.5, so if you came from Note3 or Note4, you'll miss roomy screen. So, if you need best camera, buy it, otherwise upgrade to other phone IMHO
I dont know how battery life will improve with the marshmallow update. I just updated yesterday so time will show that. I would say battery life is about 4-5hrs SOT. If you are used to longer screen on time you might be in for a suprise. However the camera is the best i have seen. I don't know how it would compare to the note 5. Another device worth looking at is the Nexus 6P. It is up there with the best so maybe go into a store and check it out. Bottom line im happy with my LG G4. No lag at all

I came from a Note 4. I loved my Note, but figured out, that after a while I didn't need the S-Pen anymore.
The G4 is not as "Productive" as the Note, but comes along with an awesome camera and, if you're rooted and got the right apps on you phone, with a good battery life.
In fact, I'm happy to have changed from Samsung to the G4, but it's surely a question of taste, too. But I can recommend it. I'm super satisfied Cheers

I have no heat problems and as I said: Battery life is good for me. Usually I have 2 days until I have to charge my phone again (If I'm not using it very often).
Otherwise I have to charge it every 24 hours, if I'm using it alot.
I think there's no big difference between the battery life of the Note 4 and the G4. I usually had to charge both phones at night, which is pretty much ok for me.
If I had to make a choice I'd say the LG G4 lasts a little longer (if rooted) Cheers
EDIT: If I'm power using it I get like 5-6 hours SOT, which is also similar to the Note 4
Remember results may vary.
The guy above me is getting 5 -6 hours SOT. But for me I can only achieve that when I am at home on wifi all day. And maybe the same is true for follow_and_feel. So it really depends on your day to day activities.
In a nutshell. If you're in a area with spotty connectivity, battery life will take a huge plummet. On work days my building is in a spotty area, and the phone lasts me until the end of the day with maybe 5-10%. With 3ish hours SOT under my belt. If the network wasn't spotty I'd probably look at 4 hours or more.
The only time I experience heat is under heavy usage, very spotty areas, or while using a garbage app like snapchat. Otherwise on normal day to day use with messaging, browsing, social media, the odd video here and there the phone stays cool.
Camera on this bad boy is out of this world. I've seen some of the shots people have taken and they look very professional. To the average person, they would barely be able to tell the difference between a G4 picture and one taken with a proper camera. The camera is probably the biggest selling point.
Lastly gaming. Gaming is a no no. Battery goes down very fast, and the phone eventually heats up as well. You can get away with some light games like Clash of Clans but don't expect the battery to hold up. The GPU is weaker than it's hot headed older brother (Snapdragon 810). If gaming is very big for you, I'd honestly say get the Note.
Videos is not an issue though. You might get some warmth though but nothing major

Note 10+ battery drain

I don't know if it's just me but has anyone elses note 10+ gone down by 50% in 2hrs. Ive noticed that it kinda looks like its draining battery fast and this was just after it has been setup

Drained a lot during setting up, but it's been fine since. If you keep having this problem, factory reset, and see if it still happens.

Just to verify... you did a full reset, then tested without restoring any data or apps. In this case, I think you got a bad unit.

I guess I don't really sit for two hours on the home screen. In fact, in running Nova Launcher, so I never see the Samsung home screen. I'll load it up and see if I notice any problem.

I just did a quick test. Fully set up phone with my podcast player playing over Bluetooth, sitting on the Samsung home screen, I'm discharging roughly at 12% per hour.

Still, yours seems to be draining at twice the rate mine is, and I assume you aren't streaming over Bluetooth.

bluetooth is off and just sitting there on the home screen. ive also noticed that in games/other apps itll show i only have about 2hrs of gaming(from the game booster) despite being low performance intensive games and i understand partially as to why it would say that but seeing as how others can use their phone for a lot longer, sometimes up to a day but this does not seem good

I've been using this phone off and on for 14 hours today, with just a few minutes of charging here and there, and I'm at 33%. Excellent battery life. I don't game though, unless you count Words With Friends. [emoji1]

I've never experienced any better From a smart phone my fingers haven't left this phone alone ? first cycle was around 7 hours but I had 5g turned on so I turned that off as theres no 5g in my area and I get close to 9 hours sot

I've been about the same but it just feels like the phone isn't lasting as long as it should. I should still definitely go and see my local Samsung just in case. there's a likely chance they'll do what they did with my s8 and say there's nothing wrong with despite clear signs of needing a new battery.

not bad. wish i had the 5g model, wanted to get it but carrier didnt do it and i wasnt going to fork out 2k.
Battery life seems on par with my note 8. I don't have the 5g(no point as by time VZW gets to my area the note 12 will be out), I do have it set relatively bright, and at full Rez.. My Screen off time is extremely good compared to my note 8 went to bed with 95% and got up at 90%. My note 8 would often drop 30%

I received my note 10+ on 22nd August 2019 and i initially charged it full til 100% and started using it. However i noticed that the battery Is draining too fast. So far i have been using it for 4 days and i have the same issue. Even i did factory reset but still same issue.
So far I have recharged it for 4 to 5 cycles of full charge till 100%, and even my device is up to date with the latest software updates.
Kindly suggest and share your thoughts / comments.
Yup, I'm having quick battery drain myself as well. I hoping when getting this phone that battery life would not be a concern. Maybe Samsung can update it to help with the drain? Anyway.... it's a bit disappointing.

From what I've heard which may be wrong, I think upon opening you need to use it till death and then give a full charge. Positive it might be an actual problem now if more people are getting it.
