[BOOT][CAF & STOCK][ALL-VARIANTS] G2 Hybrid Bootstacks - G2 Android Development

Hello, everybody! Today, I'm bringing up here my hybrid bootstacks packages.
WARNING #1: Messing with boot partitions can be dangerous. Don't try it if you don't know what a BRICK means!
WARNING #2: You must flash a BUMP recovery before trying it, I recommend @blastagator one!
WARNING #3: It only supports BUMP kernels, so, checkout with your rom maintainer before flashing!

Why use hybrid boostacks?
If you're on CM-12.1, CM-13.0 or even LP STOCK, you'll need flash a boostacks, but why use hybrid?
Hybrid bootstacks were made thinking on stability and being as closest as possible to stock.
All of them, use the most recent aboot/laf & modem compatible. Also, devices without official lollipop have here a workaround:
-D803 variant has its own package, that brings KK files, with a modified d801 lp baseband.
-L22 variant has its own package, that brings KK files, with a modified d802 lp baseband.
Also, if you are still not satisfied, I made a WIKI with many infos about bootstacks, that you can found on my github or the most important parts here:
Supported devices:
D800
D801
D802
D803 (KK + LP BASEBAND)
D805/6 (SAME PACKAGE FOR THESE TWO VARIANTS)
F320K/L/S (ONE PACKAGE FOR EACH VARIANT)
L22 (KK + LP BASEBAND)
LS980
VS980
What is bootstack?
It's a set of images, that are essential for your device. These hybrid bootstracks use all the images from lollipop, except aboot, which is from kitkat. So, we can have bump working with LP partitions.
What is in it? (Except D803 & L22)
-Aboot (KK)
-Dbi (LP)
-Laf (LP) (BUMP)
-Modem (LP)
-Persist (LP) (Except LS980)
-Rpm (LP)
-Sbl1 (LP)
-tz (LP)
Which roms it works?
CM-12.1, and any rom based on it. (Except RR with stock kernel. Workaround: Custom kernel.)
CM-13.0, and any rom based on it.
LP STOCK, and any rom based on it.
What is assert?
Assert is a command line in zip script, it checks if you're flashing a compatible bootstrap with your device.
Why it only supports bump?
Because I updated all the aboot files to KK, and only JB supports loki.
Why you updated aboot to KitKat?
Because KK bootloader is more reliable, and I can merge the original kernel cmdline.
I can't enter in recovery, why?
My aboot files are the most recent KK versions, some of them have a new way to enter in recovery:
-Old Way: Hold power + vol down, then, release and hold power + vol down again.
-New Way: Hold power + vol down, then, release and hold vol up + vol down.
How D803 and L22 are available, if they're stuck on KK?
-D803 is using D803 KK bootstacks, except by the modem, that is the same from D801, but, edited with D803 modem files.
-L22 is using L22 KK bootstacks, except by the baseband, which is the same from D802, but, edited with L22 radio files.
Why Laf isn't giving secure booting error, if we're using LP version?
-As everybody knows, until now, we were using KK Laf + KK Aboot. This was because new LP images have a new image signature. So, to make it boot on KK Aboot, I broke LP signature (Extracting the ramdisk and packing it again) and then I bumped it using open_bump.

- @Rashed97 , for all his work, and the original zip packages.
- @Drgravy , for the updated bump packages, that I use as base.

Issues & Requests:
If you found a bug, want request a variant support, or even found a newer boot(aboot/modem/laf/etc...) file, you can request it HERE.
If you want a quickly answer, I really recommend posting it there.
Attention! Devices stuck on JB will not be add! Ex: L-01F DOCOMO
ONLY FOR DEVS:
With my bootstacks (and others with KK aboot), roms can be more stock, than using old loki packages (With JB aboot).
With KK aboot, we can:
Delete LCD hack script, and use stock CM boot flash way. (KK Aboot sets LCD type, by itself) (NO MORE PERMANENT LCD DAMAGE!)
Use new tags_addr 0x00000100
Delete cmdline entries: msm_rtb.filter=0x0 mdss_mdp.panel=1:dsi:0:qcom,mdss_dsi_g2_lgd_cmd (Aboot auto-sets it.)
Revert this JB hack.
The good thing here, is that it'll not explode devices using old JB aboot, because these devices won't be able to boot these roms. (the new tags_addr makes JB bootloader stops until user restart it to recovery.)
Attention: DON'T DO ANY OF THESE MODIFICATIONS ON RECOVERY! RECOVERIES MUST BE UNIVERSAL!

Flash Bootstacks ---> restart recovery ---> install what you need. (kernel/roms/etc)

Anyone with D801 tried this bootstack with blisspop? Tempted to install RenderKernel but I've read about lots of issues, so I've been holding off.

Hmm, it should work with any CAF kernel. If it boots recovery, the problem can be modem.
If someone else report same issue, I'll take a look

On this new bootstack the download mode work?

RR still using LOKI? That doesn't make any sense, they should sync with cm sources.

I need a tester before posting it here. If you are available, just PM me.

I have some problems with d802 bootstak. With many roms (cm12 offi, bliss, slimsaber ecc), i have random soft reboots, twice at day (2-3). With lollipop stock bootstack (after .kdz flash) i have only One at day with all Roms. Any idea?

I can't get either of you guys' liquid builds to boot. It keeps looping at the "LIQUIDSMOOTH" With the symbol below the words. It gets past the water pouring, but keeps looping at the second part. I just let it sit for 10 minutes and nothing changed. I didn't flash anything extra, rom only. They both do the same thing. I don't mean to cross threads here since Kevin built one as well. But I figured I would mention it here since you both posted.
Any suggestions either of you?

Is this on a clean install? As In TWRP wipe data, dalvik cache, cache and system. DO NOT WIPE INTERNAL STORAGE. Then flash the rom.
I have had one person already test it out and his is using it currently on LS970, boots just fine. You could also try wiping cache and dalvik cache if it loops.
Considering its on both roms Its probably not rom related.
What device do you have exactly?

I apologize for not being more specific.
1) yes it was an install on a clean partition. I use multiRom and installed it as a secondary rom, which is basically like installing the rom on a virtually clean partition. I have been doing this for awhile and only ran into a few issue. One being stock based roms as secondary. The other issues I have had are ROM or recovery based.
2) I am using an LS970 LG Optimus G from Sprint.
3) the roms I tried and am mentioning here are both LiquidSmooth so it very possibly could be rom (sources) based. I have no issues with Kevins device sources, the same with gproj sources, which I believe you used for the LS970.
I will try to install it again and wipe data, and caches before booting. That may help.

Hi there!
I was the one that actually tested the previous build for clementino and I am using it as a daily driver. I used the previous build and am downloading this new build as I type this reply. From what I had read around, using the lollipop build as a secondary doesn't always work.
first boot of LS 4.0 after clean install could take up to 10 - 15 minutes so I would suggest to wait that long as well. I use the Sprint LG Optimus G LS970 as well but I bought it in Indonesia as an unlocked phone and it already has another service provider on it with working data plan. This causes some problems for me at times when changing ROMs because it would sometimes cause me to lose data. Never the less the build is solid.
I assume this new build eliminates the CM theme engine and added RRO. Overall, I'm just excited about this new build.

I have CM12 for LS970 installed as secondary. With the updated TWRP there are no issues on installing Lollipop as primary or secondary. I am not trying to bash. I am trying to install Liquid smooth. I had Kevins Liquid Trex and it was awesome, but now there are newer versions and updates and fixes. Every other LP rom has installed fine. The only other thing I will try is to install as primary. If it works, I can backup, then restore it as secondary.
Also, what do you mean updated? Have you not tried the 01-18 build that is linked in the OP?

I'm sorry dopy25, I thought that clementinox has uploaded another build since he already uploaded the new builds he had for geeb. I didn't realize it until the download was completed. The 01-18 build is the one I'm running. But I think he's prepared another build. The only issue I encountered with this build, aside from the mentioned wrong carrier name is that in the lock screen it would show (no sim - Sprint) at the top left corner. Although text and calls work, my data doesn't and I assume it has something to do with my phone not on Sprint (APNs etc).
@dopy25
You need do update multirom TWRP once again, there was fixes for some ROMs which us block based zips, my liquid is working as secondary now and his should also.

You are absolutely right. After the update I grabbed from your server, I was able to install both Liquid roms as secondary. However, neither have the developer options available. Is there a different way to activate them in Liquid?
Also, @clementinox I have pretty much everything working in your ROM, but it caused my boot loader to freeze at the google loading screen. That was on reboot. It just sat there. So I had to go in recovery and wipe stuff again. So, to everyone else wanting to try this with gproj sources. It does indeed work.
Finally another Lollipop ROM!
Downloading now, if something goes wrong I'll report, thanks! :good:

I would love those files!
It seems that the D802 situation is a bit complicated - I thought of using the European files for all D802s but there are bound to be problems and bricks.
I'm actually really confused on the D802 situation. How many different versions of Lollipop for D802 are there?
What I see myself doing with this whole situation is just adding the variants to the installer as I find more of them - so there will be an option for each version (European, Vodafone, etc.)
I would love to help test this! I have a D800 in the US running on AT&T.

This is a G3 port. What I meant by "caution" is to be careful - this is not 100% stable.
Just a word of caution - please make sure you are all using the LATEST version of TWRP and are on STOCK LOLLIPOP before attempting to install.
Looking forward to some D800 test reports before I jump in

Try to go back to stock with LG flashtool. I've had the same error before.
No matter what you see, you CAN get into recovery. Try a stock tot/kdz first, and if that doesn't work (when I got the error flashtool would fail, but by running it as admin, making sure a USB 2 port is used, and leaving the device plugged in even if it fails that it worked):
-Power off the device fully.
-Hold Power+Vol down for 2 sec, let it go and hold it again until you see "Recovery Mode" (the LG logo doesn't need to be there when you let the buttons go and press them again)
-Do whatever you need to do from recovery.
TESTERS: Speak up! We need to know more. I hope this is not a ROM issue and that this is an isolated case.
Please, someone let us know how it went!
DO NOT USE AUTOREC ON LP UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

Judging by the fact the bootstacks are based on your git and not Dr Gravy's or rasheds, you put the bootstacks together yeah? Didn't fork them?

Well if you used rasheds, you might want to test your download mode as people have reported it being broken.
If you forked them from dr gravy you should be fine, but honestly I'd suggest linking to the official gits as opposed to redirecting them to one of yours.
Will stop possible drama, and if they do update the bootstacks because of something else that might be wrong with them, then its dumbed down, you won't need to keep making sure they're up to date.

All the variants are from Dr Gravy, except d802 (newer aboot) and f320 (I add the bump option). I can't redirect to dr gravy, because his version doesn't has assert. All my bootstacks zip have.
Hey @daniel.stuart14 sorry for the noob question but i always had this doubt, I have a D805, i know that to use the CAF version of the ROMs i need to use the D802 LP bootstacks and a D805 modem but in every CAF ROM i tried i got soft reboots and noticed that is related with modem (3G or 4G) or GPS, and now I'm really confused because of the LP bootstacks update. How should I install the bootstacks in order to be able to install and run your ROM in my D805? (Just asking this here cause you are Brazilian and should have the same device as me). Thanks for the great work

Hey mate!
Here with hybrid bootstacks + my edited baseband (see 2# post), is working flawless.
Just install the bootstacks from my site, and then, the d805 modem.
Give a try, if you still getting issues, just tell me. :highfive:

Guys, can you try this?
I think I found the problem, the new way of flashing kernel was not working as well it should on G2. Fixed in next build.
Still no avail. The LG logo shows up for about 6 seconds following a brief blank screen then it restarts.

Hmmm, my only guess is the baseband. (This is the only thing diferent between mine and yours).
Try this. and say to me if works. I'll update the bootstacks then.
It's ok now, booted just fine.

Thank you, I'll update bootstacks modem. (I think I put the d805 version in it, just a mistake )
Mines just got a bootloop too using my the bootstacks+ D805 modem but I couldn't reboot to recovery in the comum way, but I got it thanks to the g2 community in g+ and reflash the older bootstacks from rashed and it worked as before.. Very Strange, can you double check if its really working for D805?

[ROM][GEEHRC][E975/F180X] PURE & PRO AOSP 5.1.1_r18 for Optimus G [RRO]

Clean AOSP for Optimus G
Pure AOSP
This rom bases on the most current Android (5.1.1) Open Source Project repo. That is what makes it special comparing to other custom LP roms like AOKP or CyanogenMod. This rom is fully AOSP, without stuff from AOKP or CM. Don’t even ask if I could add theme engine, custom lockscreen or other crap. For mods you can use Xposed framework.
Pro AOSP
Rom with additional features maintaining great speed and stability.
Addons:
RRO Layers
SuperSU included
Power menu settings
Recent apps settings
Notification drawer settings
Layers Manager
Button backlight settings
OTA updates
a lot of optimizations under the hood

Great work with this, AOSP isn't easy to build.
Everything is working (sensors included), didn't catch a single bug, well done.

OK, I checked rom, seems like (fully) aosp but where is the flashlight toggle ?
So, Do I need to flash cm11 gee first or not? different reports :/
Edit: tested it myself. flashing a kitkat gee ROM is a must to have working sensors just like all other geehrc ROMs. first impression: super smooth!:good:
Only works flashing it using twrp? Anybody tried philz?

Using a root explorer go to sys/class/leds/buttons-backlight and open brightness with a text editor and change 10 to 0 and save. @DevSwift1 can you please make brightness automatic? Or controllable by apps? Apps like capacitive buttons work on other roms but not this.

CONVERT ANY CM\AOSP ROM: D800 to d802\D802 to D800\D802 to Vs980

Hi all.
Im d802 owner, and sometime devs give roms, o preview only for d800 (thank devs anyway for supporting our phone).
So, i ve reworked a file zip made some time a go by @blastagator, that simply convert d800 rom to d802.
Ps: I m not English, im Italian, so sorry for some errors i will try to write the best i can.
Pay attention:
This is a PORT method. Is not stable like building someting from source, and is always better to use something compiled for the d802.
Anyway, in all rom that i ve tryed all worked as intended.
HTML:
Your warranty is now void.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war.
Please do some research if you have any concerns about using custom ROMs/Kernels.
You are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for
messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
So, we can start now.

TEST AOSP by DjWald:

TEST CM :
Soon
If the rom you ve downloaded wont flash, do this:
First of all, you have to edit the updater script of the rom that you wanna try, to allow Twrp to flash it.
You will need (optional):
Zip viewer (personally i use 7zip)
HTML:
http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
-notepad ++
HTML:
https://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.9.1.html
-patience
HTML:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErvgV4P6Fzc
Step 1 (if your rom don't have this lines, skip it):
-Extract rom.zip to any folder;
-Navigate to META-INF\com\google\android\
-Open updater-script and replace this 2 lines (change d800 with d802)
HTML:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "d800" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "d800"
-Repack rom.zip without compression and in .zip extension
-Copy to your phone
Step 2 (do only this if the rom dont have flash variant check):
-Backup your current ROM (optional)
-Backup EFS (higly suggested, but optional)
-Flash Rom.zip to your phone
-*****Flash D800 to D802 patch (WARNING: If you dont do this right after the flash of d800 rom, you will softbrick your device; you can recover it by simply go into recovery)
-Flash gapps
- I higly raccomend you to flash Lambda or HHKernel to avoid boot.img incompatibilities, just after the apllication of the patch (HH kernel is only for Aosp Based Roms).
-Enjoy!
-***** choose the right one, for Aosp or Cm based Roms.
Whats in Zip:
- Cyanogen Mod Kernel in Cm version
- Candy6 in Aosp version
- System Files from Cm\Aosp
- A script from the mighty @blastagator rewrite in some point by me.

I'm facing the same problem on my purenexus layers rom. Ive used the patch to install D800 purenexus on my D802.
Is there a fix for this ? Purenexus is running so smooth and i really want to keep it but my network is messed up , it struggles to find network.
Any kind of help would be really appreciated

Did u experience any network issues ? which method did u use to patch ?
@machinehead121 for some people network switcher is working. For me on any rom from Yair network switcher isn't working, only when i've reinstalled stock rom from scratch and installed everything again "it worked" (it locked to LTE and can't change to nothing).
