Just got the G4, speeds are comparable to my note 4 but the handoff I don't think is as good. You could try changing the lte priority list for bands 25, 26, and 41. Play with that and see if you get better speeds

Just curious maybe I am just confused, but can the GSM GN use T-Mo 4G? This is my first (4G?) device, not sure if its not connecting or not available in my area. (Samsung Vibrant (3G)) before this, but shouldn't ICS display 4G or H+ if it was getting a 4G signal? Anyone even get 4G on this using T-mobile??
It can do Tmo's 21 but not 42.

So, to answer your question, yes. (HSPA+ is 4G faster than the 14.4Mbps)
I'm not interesting in blazing 42 (theoretical) speeds, 21 is just fine. It just seems everywhere I go, it still only shows either 3G/H , never 4G/H+. Regardless of the modem I flash. Currently using XXKK6. Speed test shows I do just under 3mbps max. This is what I got on my Vibrant 3G ...

There is no H+ icon. Only 3G and H.

Nexus does 4g, maybe not to much 4g coverage in your area

Seems like a GN issue. I have the coverage according to Tmobile and even went to a 4G area in the same building as their main store.. Sometimes Wifi shows no signal even when literally a foot from the router (although the signal works fine)
Anyone else?
I'm curious what Sprint's LTE speed tests?.
I am never in Lansing, but in Howell Mi for the last month LTE works. Today I now notice it works in Northville Plymouth as well on and off. So seems they are slowing rolling it out.
As for speeds, Download 6.40 Mbps, upload .85. Not sure if these are common as today is the first day LTE is available where I am (work).
That data speed is GOLD on Sprints network, at least from my past experience with them. Congrats.:good:
Using the Galaxy Note II in Manhattan, we remained firmly rooted to Sprint's 3G network, with predictably slow results. On Speedtest.net, the Note II achieved an average download speed of only 0.40 MBps and an equally sluggish upload speed of 0.35 MBps. On AT&T's 4G LTE network, by contrast, we noted average download and upload speeds of 22.5 and 12.9 MBps, respectively. Not surprisingly, websites loaded agonizingly slowly over 3G. The mobile version of CNN.com, for instance, loaded in 20 seconds (compared to 2.1 seconds on AT&T's network), while the mobile version of NYTimes.com loaded in 21 seconds (versus 2.7 seconds on AT&T). What are the best options to get switched to a faster data speed?
My speeds were fast for over a year like verizon but sprint did something to the towers by my house and it's horrible 3g at best speeds . It says 4glte but there's no way close to that there's no fix all this change prl or modem stuff to change anything I tried all of them with same results. The apps that say they will boost your signal are full of **** until sprint fix towers we are stuck with b.s service hope this save you time trying to fix something that can't be fixed by us.

What do you guys get off WiFi network speeds? I've done several speed tests coming in at on average 1.5mbs... Says 4glte on top but damn..... Att was better than this.
4g or wifi?? 4g, in my area, verizon has been garbage lately getting speeds like 0.5mbps... outta nowhere tho they got better.. and now with my note they're even better than my g2..gettinf like 20 here

i'm sorry, but mine are fantastic..
Just used the speedtest.net app and on wifi I got 22.58mbps down/2.43 mbps up and on 4G I got 76.62mbps down/34.97 mbps up. These were taken at my house and I never use wifi at home because why would I (still have unlimited data plan). And I live in Alabama!
I get about 12.3Mpbs at my house on LTE. Speeds arent really what concerns me because they'll always fluctuate depending on your location.
What I'm liking on this phone is how good the radios are. It seems to always have a solid signal and doesnt drop hardly at all.
I got 118Mbps with the download booster on the other day while downloading some language packs... 100mbps on wireless and 18mpbs on LTE.
The radios in this phone are excellent IMO.
My internet hovers around 84/86 mbps, I don't think my router support that speed so it hovers around 46/44 mbps. I have Verizon Fios 75/75. As for LTE it's around 35/15 in my area (D.C.).
On wifi i saw 19.30 up/down 25ms latency; on mobile 9.8 up/23 down with 58ms latency

Sprint turned on Spark in my area in mid-February (Alexandria, VA outside of Washington, DC). I am on Band 41. However, I am getting only about 5 mbs download speed and a tenth of that upload. That seems to be the same speed as un-Sparked Band 25. Has anyone else noticed this on the G2? Is there a way to increase the speed on the phone? Or do I have to wait for a network upgrade. In that case, I thought the network upgrade was Spark. Apparently not.
Sounds like typical Sprint. Always upgrading, never delivering. Where I live, my G2 is on LTE nearly everywhere yet speeds are usually at a 3g level. It's annoying and unacceptable. I'm done with Sprint in November when my contract is up.

Band 41 here where I live is definitely faster than 25 or 26. I can download on average around 4.0MB/s where as with the other bands I see around 2-2.5MB/s. But I'm sure that doesn't mean everywhere would be that way.
Band41 won't be available everywhere. Its 2.5ghz so by nature its range is more limited than 1900 or 800 and it has more interference in buildings. Its a good bet that you are not actually getting band 41 when running the speed test. You can use lte discovery to check although its not 100%.

Of course I'm using band 41. I checked before I originally posted. My issue is that the G2 is not using all three bands together for much higher transfer rates. That's what spark is all about. Other people have reported download speeds as high as 68 meg. I'm getting only about 5.

Spark is not about carrier aggregation, its about band41. Carrier aggregation is on the radar for being part of the "spark" network, widespread carrier aggregation is only just now being deployed. Its similar to Verizon and their branding of XLTE. All it really meant immediately was new spectrum but the brand will eventually cover LTE-Advanced things like carrier aggregation.
The g2 won't be doing carrier aggregation, unless a new modem is released for it. Hardware supports it but software does not on this device.
As for the slow download speeds, we can investigate that further if you want to send me a pm.
It's just your area. My nieces G2 does 30+mb download and 10mb which is what I get on my Note Edge on band 41. Unfortunately CA is not yet live here in northern ct although my phone did get updated to enable it. Carrier Aggregation is part of Spark but not Spark itself as stated above. Spark is just all three bands working independently. So far only a few select devices have CA which are the G4, Note Edge and I think M9.

That's the problem. I thought when Sprint turned on Spark in my area my download speed would increase. Sprint announced it was on in February 2015. I've checked, and I am on Band 41 and receiving both bands 25 and 26 in addition to band 41. The G2 was the first tri-band phone on the Sprint network. Sprint released two software updates in 2014 to enable spark on the G2. Apparently none of that matters.
