Building deodex - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Okay guys, I've been working on building a deodexed rom using dsxdias kitchen. I have a fully working tweeked out odex, but deodexing my apps won't work, any help would be awesome. Think deodexing is where my problem lies since I'm using a mac, virtual box linux, and deodexing requires windows, and I'm thinking I don't have java correct in windows, my windows partition is tiny and running 3 os on my mac there are files everywhere. . Thanks. And FYI I'll have deodexed up for you guys hopefully soon

Could it have something to do with ART Vs dalvik?

Very good question! I keep running into errors myself.

Sorry, a bit out of my zone.
I did some deodexing several years ago on my Galaxy S II, but I don't remember much about it... except that you've got to basically repackage every APK and remove its .odex file... or something like that. The payoff is something to do with Dalvik cache and being able to easily modify the apk's... Or something like that...
Yeah, I'm really, really out-of-the-loop on deodexing these days. Sorry!

I got a basic deodexed stock done with some build prop tweeks working, but that's about it for the time being... working on more, but my schedule is full for the time being, this being just a side hobby after my art, school, work, side business, dealing with probation.... so time is very limited, just bought a car so that should add more time to my schedule. I have a pretty modded rom done, but it has a few bugs I need to figure out, hard part is when I take time off I forget where I left off, and basically start from stock again.

Well, I have built a fully modded rom. It has all the bells and whistles, then some. I will be sending it to @SICKMADE for him to do as he pleases.
Best thing to do when you build a rom is to take notes until you have done it enough times until it's like clockwork.

school once again is kicking my ass, just bought a car too and have been working on that. going to see what I can do with the new update, just been running my simple rom with nothing really special, as most mods cause errors for me and since i dont work on it constantly I forget where I left off... the mind of someone with ADHD... Sickmade I need to take yours on a test drive, need to make some space for a back up on my small 32gb

Anybody download and try this yet?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
I downloaded it, but there was a problem with the file. a lot of files I get from the goo.im servers seem to have the same problem. they appear corrupted and won't flash. on another thread someone mentioned that that server adds a .html extension to the file and that removing that so that it ends in .zip should fix it, but all the files i have already end in .zip and before anybody suggests otherwise, yes I've adjusted the settings on my windows computer to not hide file extensions.
Downloaded it, but couldn't get it to install. I haven't had issues with any other roms. Tried wiping the device, and the cache. Put the zip initially on the internal memory then the external sd, but just get an invalid zip error from recovery, with the image of the android on his back with a door to his stomach open and red ball figure above it. A little traumatizing really, but when I get a little more time I will flash a different recovery. Heard in the past that has cured some flashing issues. That is unless someone else has some other suggestions.
This rom doesnt flash either

that is a load of crap. This has been something peolpe have complained about since profiles were introduced. Hopefully it's well, because some of it would be pain trying to do with DirectoryBind or FolderMount. That's why some run scripts to switch the SD card for the internal memory.

You don't think that they're doing the same thing they're doing the exact same thing however its all scripted within the ROM itself. Because developers don't know that exact code so to speak that's why not implemented the the reason why we have to use an application that allows the script to run.

Haha...no need to get picky, or pick a fight. Built in is built in. I could care less how they do it.
I'm pretty much over my flash-happy days of manually applying tweak after tweak after every flash of a new ROM or kernel.
That's not to say I don't still apply things manually, I just try to minimize that as much as possible.

Yeah but doesn't this need a custom rom to be fully integrated?
I run the apps2sd script(From http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-n...sd-card-with-rooted-galaxy-note-2-app2sd-mod/) and use script manager to run it. I am on stock rooted. The problem I have is that every time I restart my phone, I have to manually run the script from script manager, it does not automatically run. And yes I have root and boot checked, and I've granted root permissions to busybox and script manager.
I just use FolderMount. Works well with games and other stuff.

Can I ask why not? I get not wanting to go as far as custom roms, but with adblockers and access to the system and data partitions, you can do quite a bit without having to go for a full rom.
Well I'm just comfortable with touchwiz and honestly the last phone I had I thought I knew what doing and bricked. So I lost the courage just getting into all this so I'm a newbie...
:'( but I see all the customizations and would love to have them so I just wanted to take the easy way out and get some apks that would work with my stock...

Best way to customize your unrooted phone is probaly thru your launcher of choice... there are some that can be customized more than others, basically what your looking for is different themes/icons which you can find for free or buy in the play store.

Have to agree with lickarock. There's still quite a lot you can do without going all out like full ROMs. If you simply root your phone and load SuperSU (SuperUser), you can load something like ES File Explorer and do simple installs of apk files through there. You really don't have to worry about bricking your phone in that situation.
While I do load different roms on my N2, like you, I just wanted to get blacked out apps also. I'm running blacked out Gmail and Facebook currently, which I loaded through ESFE. Just make sure you uninstall the original apps then install the apks through ESFE and reboot. Everythings running smooth on my phone.
I've had a few scares loading different ROMs where my phone wouldn't boot up and I thought I maybe bricked my phone.......luckily I got it back up and running. Battery pulls suck.......lol
Just be sure to read through all the posts that you find which interest you. Typically, people post issues they are having and possible fixes. If you want to run different roms or something later, just be sure your phone is running the correct specs for it, ie....your baseband version is MA7 vs MC2, not all roms are compatible with multiple versions.

If you want a brick-proof(ish) method to get a Root, just Odin a full rooted restore to your phone. Such as this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241136. Its about as mindless and safe as you can get.

If you choose not to root, there are still several ways to have a highly customized phone.
Personally, I am a fan of rooting. I have rooted every android phone I have had except my Note 2. Long story short, I bought my Note 2 through my business and cannot afford to run into any headaches that can sometimes pop up even to the most experienced flasher. I will say the Note 2 is also the first android phone that I haven't felt the need to root for increased performance. CPU, RAM, Battery life, this phone has all three for days.
I created a thread dedicated to creating a custom look without root. And in many ways this is the most custom phone I've ever had.

It's a work in progress and I am adding more and more stuff all the time.

For a blacked out messaging app you might check out Go SMS Pro. There are downloadable themes and you can make your own.

Trying to make a flashable zip...

Hi.
Trying to make stock 4.3 mms.apk flashable via TWRP for various reasons.
I've had a crack at it, flashed it in TWRP (stuck the zip on the device storage, selected install and then the zip etc) and...it said it installed ok, didnt throw up any errors however in android it doesnt look like it's actually installed?
apk is in the system folder but not showing in app drawer/can't launch it.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

No no the update script i had automagically set permissions.
This was something far more stupid...
I forgot to flash the odex file with it :|
But something strange i've never seen before, when i loaded messaging after the flash it popped up with a very gingerbread looking box asking me to set a message limit for conversations hmmmmmm...
Anyways, here's hoping this works when the time comes to need it...
It's part of my android 4.4 still being usable plan due to a hatred of hangouts...either on my GN or if i get a nexus 5 (and assuming all leaks are true and messaging app is being ditched in favour of hangouts).
Annoyingly this flash didnt work on the other device i tried...i dont know if that's because i tried flashing it to a nexus 7 where it doesnt want to work or if i'm an idiot and i don't know what i'm doing. probably the latter...
*edit*
i dunno, i guess i'm just an idiot.
Anyways, deodex'd the Mms.apk with http://www.xda-developers.com/android/deodex-all-the-things-with-universal-deodexer/ after a quick google...
and that happily installs on the nexus 7...so yay. Guess i'll use that going forward (i did the deodex at default OS version and left compression level at 5 because i dont know any better).
But at least it works so when the world ends and google try to force hangouts on me even more i have a backup...

[ROM] T-Mobile 4.3 LEAK [WiFi calling|Apps2SD]

Here is the 4.3 system dump that was given to us awhile ago. I put everything into a flashable zip.
So far everything is working with the exception of the data/cell network dropping when on 4G (2G and LTE do not have this issue) i am thinking its a radio issue seeing as we don't have the latest radio.
There really isn't anything special about this so don't ask for anything. It is NOT DEBLOATED so grab yourself a root explorer and start deleting
I am simply sharing this for the whole. I posted it in the General forum under the system dump 4.3 thread but figured many people don't see that. We hopefully will have the official release in one week. So once Sammobile gets the odin flashable file posted i will extract that and make a much nicer ROM (Titled warpdrive of course )
So until then, have fun playing with 4.3 TW Tmo (Nothing really special though)
Oh also wanted to mention, any multi window mod is not working. Haven't really tinkered yet as to why. Other wise, xposed modules are working (with the exception of some)

In an effort to fix the loss of network when screen is off, i added the Toggle2G app to allow you to toggle 2G data in sleep mode. (Thank you @TheMasterBaron Original Thread)

Sure that's not a kernel thing? Not sure how you are gonna update just the firmware without flashing the stock Odin file.
Omg I love you man. Ive been waiting for 4.3 I even flashed the international one but I needed wifi calling so I had to go back. I tried to make a flashable zip out of the leak but it wouldnt boot so i gave up

The person with the phone had to return it to tmobile so he didn't want to root as it would have trigger Knox. Without root he could not get a full dump.

I downloaded the app, then opened this thread in my browser and clicked the link. It takes you to the same mega page, but I copied the page address, went into the mega app, and clicked on the chain icon on the bottom right. Paste the copied page adress into the search bar and the download will show up.

here is the 4.3 system dump that was given to us awhile ago.
Other wise, xposed modules are working (with the exception of some)
download here:
touchwiz 4.3 t-mobile
in an effort to fix the loss of network when screen is off, i added the toggle2g app to allow you to toggle 2g data in sleep mode. (thank you @themasterbaron original thread)
you will require a full wipe!!! (use 2 ply for best results...)

Awesome.
Thanks for the hard work man.
Gotta say, boot up was rocky as f#[email protected], but after getting settled in and overclocking, rebooting a few times, etc, working real smooth now.
It took a real long time for wifi to turn on the first couple times.
2g-3g app is working awesomely.
Tested phone while it was locked and got texts and phone calls (a small delay in both, but bearable.)
Sir, I thank you for being able to make this a daily driver.
Hats off to you.
Much appreciated!
