FoxFi Trusted - System Credentials Lockscreen - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry if the title is a bit jumbled. I love FoxFi alot. The only Con I can think of is that the trusted credential prevents my phone's unlock process to be swiped. I am rooted. Is there some way I can move the FoxFi credential into the system side, so that I can reenable swipeable lockscreen; or is there a root method I can use just to set my phone's lockscreen without moving the credential?
Also, I know and have set my phone's locktime to the max. But even still, it locks way to often. I am running 5.0.1 VS98523C on my LG G3.

Anybody here? Lol

Don't struggle with it
If you're rooted, then you don't have to struggle with that. There are plenty of tethering apps out there. Find one that works with your G3. I used to use a really good one made by someone here at XDA. I forgot the name, but I can tell you it has a yellow icon. Foxfi is for people who are not rooted. You've gone through the rooting process, now enjoy the benefit of all the choices.

[Q] Possible GPS issue after temp. root?

A friend of mine wanted bloatware removed on her DI2, so I completed a temporary root and froze apps, and it seemed to work fine. However, I was told recently that HTC's Superclock App is stuck on the location we were at when I performed the temporary root, and that it's not auto-adjusting to her location.
1.) Has this sort of problem happened to others doing the same thing?
2.) I have a Captivate and am unfamiliar with Sense UI, so if there's simply some kind of toggle in the settings for auto-location, would that perhaps solve the issue?
Apologies, but I was just the "take the bloat off" person, so some of the specifics of Sense 2.0 I'm unfamiliar with. And in case anybody asks, GPS is turned on.
If you left the phone temp rooted, it's very possible. I've temp rooted and removed bloat via freezing it and have not had this issue, but I usually reboot immediately after I'm done with what I need to do in temp root. Temp root is known to break Bluetooth, it's quite possible it's also affecting that app/widget as well.
It's also possible you may have removed too much bloat. If you've removed any of the HTC stuff, try putting it back.
I just removed Verizon's crap and some of the apps like ESPN and stuff, but none of HTC's stuff. I've suggested restarting the phone, but I don't have direct access to it so I'm not positive if my friend did it or not (she's not, how shall I say it, adept at using smart phones, so pressing buttons other than messaging and phone are really cautiously done).
Your friend happen to be my wife?
Kidding.. My wife has an iPhone.. I'm ready to disown her.
What is this Superclock app that you speak of?

I was having really long GPS Locking issues and I did a factory reset to remove anything I did via temp-root and that fixed it.

[Q] VPN on Galaxy Nexus

Is there anyway to setup a PPTP VPN connection on ICS without being forced to use a lock screen with PIN/password/pattern? VPN works but I don't want to lock my screen with a PIN.
This was possible on 2.x so why did they change it? Tried using a 3rd party solution like 1VPN but it doesn't even connect to my VPN..
I hate to bump this thread but I really need to know if there is a workaround for this. VPN is the only way I am able to access the Onlive servers to play.
Yea, I just came across this "feature." There has to be a way to disable it. I wish people would stop insisting on handling my security for me. I'm a big boy, I can do it myself.

What's wrong with using a pattern? Its just as quick and easy as the drag to unlock.
Still haven't found a workaround.. a pattern is not as annoying as a password but it removes the quick access to the camera from the lockscreen doesn't allow you to use face unlock.
I've managed to muck around with the Settings.apk, and I've gotten it to allow me to configure and connect to my VPN without having to set a pin code on the lockscreen. However, it doesn't SAVE the VPN entry. Once you back out of Settings, the entry is lost and will have to be re-added again.
While I'm no stranger to line-based coding, I have to say I'm rather new to Android and I'm learning as I go. Lots of trial and error.
Hey, it's progress.
For those wanting to muck around themselves, I'm tinkering inside the VpnSettings.smali file -- specifically in the onResume method. That's where the check is to see if the Credential Storage is unlocked/locked/uninitialized. I can circumvent that check -- but I think the issue is that it's not ACTUALLY unlocked hence why the settings aren't saved.
Any progress since your last post? I got the same annoying issur.
I am also looking for this annoying "feature" to be overcome.
Just wanted to reply so you know others are also wanting credentials to be stored without losing the ease of access from the lockscreen.

+1. Wtf is the point of quick camera access if you're forced to lose it?

I'm also interested in removing this annoying "feature"!
I can't wait for the day this problem will be fixed! Annoying as hell!

[Q] Disable Lockscreen with FoxFi

Just bought a G3 off contract to replace my beloved S4. I use FoxFi on a regular basis and there was a pretty simple work around which allowed me to use the application without requiring a pin for my lockscreen. I tried to do the same work around with the G3 to no avail.
Has anyone been able to use foxfi without having a lockscreen?
Thanks
Moe

I know it's not actually answer on question but i hope it can help.
As i saw, this application can share internet and same option you already have by default called something like hotspot.
Almost all bank applications also require pin screen. The most of the time, after first usage you can remove screen lock and they will continue to work without issues.

Right, it is a mobile hotspot app. It requires credentials to use. There was a way to remove the need for those credentials on my S4, but I can't seem to figure out a way on my G3.

You tried to remove lock once when you setup application? I remember it worked for me for Skrill and my local bank online banking.

I cant go back in there and change it unless i remove all credentials.
These threads have info on how to bypass the credentialing each time. It worked great on the GS4 but I have not been able to figure out how to do this with the G3.

If anyone can help, I will buy them a beer.
If I clear all credentials it allows me to skip the lockscreen at least until I use Foxfi again. Still looking for a permanent fix though.
Still looking for help.

Strange "RootPA" app on my HTC 10. Is it a potential security issue?

Im using a HTC 10 (EU variant). Today i was scrolling through "Netguard" (if you dont know it, its an app to prevent other apps from internet access), since i configured it to show system apps it displays way more apps than the normal app overview in the settings. In there i found an app called "RootPA" and one called "root", which seems strange since i didnt unlock the bootloader or root on my own. The details in the RootPA entry say "com.gd.mobicore.pa", no idea if thats helpfull to determine the origin of this mysterious app.
Can you help me with this?
Did you Google it?
I did, but the results were not realy usefull. I found someone with a modded Galaxy S3 who deleted a RootPA on accident and broke stuff, but that ssems unrelated. Are there any things i could do to find out more about the app installed on my phone without root?
I cant say its something I've ever seen. If this person in the past removed it, and it broke stuff, that would suggest that it may have been a system app and he was rooted. From what I managed to find on google, it is part of a security suite (mobicore) used by networks to monitor what the state of the phone is, presumably incase something happens, and it was the user fault, and they know for a fact because they have logs of what the phone has done.
[ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE] Allows applications to access information about networks
[INTERNET] Allows applications to open network sockets. (i.e send information)
[READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE] Allows an application to read from external storage.
[READ_PHONE_STATE] Allows read only access to phone state.
A friend of mine got his HTC 10 2 days ago, ill ask him to look for this app. Its unlikely we would have the same virus/whatever installed.
Edit: He just reseted his 10 (due to missing language options, but thats another topic), but still found "root" and "rootPA" on his phone, so its preinstalled (although i still dont understand whats its purpose).
RootPA is provides service for provisioning secure applications that run on ARM trustzone and t-base OS (formerly mobicore). It is preinstalled in some vendors Android devices (search for this string on the internet: htc-devices-to-incorporate-trustonic-t-base-tee), but mostly unused as far as I know. The source code of some versions is available on the Internet (e.g. on github /Faryaab/android_hardware_samsung_slsi_exynos5410/tree/master/mobicore/rootpa).
It has nothing to to with rooting or unrooting the device.

Questions on Rooted Pixel 3 XL Abilities (Rooted Apps)

So i have a Pixel 3 XL rooted. I have questions about how to use the rooted device and what i do with it.
I want to be able to tether my cellular connection over VPN, the same as Tether me is to IOS in Cydia store, is that possible.
I also want to be able to leave apps open in the background, as if im using them, i dont want them to close or ( Go to sleep) after a while, like Backgrounder or Watchdog is the IOS, is there something like that for a rooted device?
I would like to be able to see what bands im connected to, or tower im connected to, is that possible with this rooted device?
Is there a way to enhance data speeds on my rooted device.
Also being that my bootloader is unlocked, it says that my phone is not secure and i should not put nothing sensitive on it, is that true, if so then why root.
You asked this before on the Pixel 3 forum and got a few answers to your questions there.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3/help/root-level-questions-t3868925
As for what bands you are connected to I believe Signal Spy is the app you would use.
The bootloader message is normal. It warns you that the OS can be modified (which you did by rooting) and certain protection features will not function the same as if the bootloader was locked. This is the trade off when rooting.
Sure would be nice if we could suppress the warning message that appears on pixel 3 phones that have their bootloader unlocked.
I was able to get rid of it on my old Moto X pure phone.
Do you think it will be possible to do that on a pixel 3?
Edit: after a few searches, it looks like the warning message can't be removed,
