G4 for Note 4? - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had the note 2 and 3, and sold my brother on the 4, but stuck with the nexus myself... It went down and I came up with a lg g4 through trade. I have a guy wanting to trade his note 4 in supposedly perfect condition for this lg g4.... Good or bad idea?

I'd keep the Lg G4, it's faster, smoother and rootable.

I'd keep the G4 as well. Unless you need the spen, don't think it's worth it.

I held off. I only needed it for the day really. The LG is an AT&T phone and I am a Verizon customer. The reason I have it is because I traded my spare AT&T Nexus for this LG g4 thinking I could get more money out of it. I think I should just put it up on Swappa and wait the day or so for my replacement Nexus 6 to come. Thank you guys.

Imo the Galaxy s3 is the best phone out right now, (except maybe for the gn2). Plus it's getting some great deals on black Friday

Really??? Do you have an ad? Because that's about the time I plan on upgrading
I know the GN2 looks sick,.but I have a Nexus 7, so a phablet is a little overkill IMO. I just want a powerful phone that's not >5".
Thanks!

The LG Optimus G doesn't come out until 11/13 on Sprint...
I just saw the LG Optimus G at Best Buy yesterday and I am not impressed. Bland Styling compared to the S III, Screen is not as Vibrant as the S III. Only plus is the Quad Core and that is not really saying much since the S III running Jelly Bean is Smooth-Responsive.
Bottom Line get the S III...
Note 2...best outta anything available. .I have sgs3 and messed with the Optimus. .cant hold a candle to the note...just my opinion

That's what I was worried about. I know the Optimus G has a 4-core and is available on AT&T, but I wasn't sure if it could compete. The specs say it has a 1280x786 TruHD display. It also (I'm sure) is loaded with bloat-ware that I don't need, and It is ICS, with JB supposedly coming in December (but you know how those things go)
I've had an HTC phone for about four years and I want to branch out. I haven't ever played with an LG phone. I had a couple of old Samsung phones pre-android and never had any problems with the phones (other than very early touch screen calibration).
I'm leaning GS3, but I'll play with both phone in the store before I make my purchase. Just wanted some opinions.
Thank you guys.
Lg optimus g has a better screen. Its a different tech but its better. Its also the fastest phone on Sprint besides possibly the Note 2. I'm also sure since LG is making the Nexus 4 this phone will be getting timely updates after its release which is this Sunday the 11th. But the S3 is awesome. The only thing I don't like is the layout of the optimus g but that can be changed with a launcher. Sam's club is going to have the S3 for 98 cents on black Friday and Sprint and best by will have it for $50.

LG has been terrible with software in the past. I hope they're good with the JB release...
They made the new Nexus they have already gotten better. Just like when Samsung made the galaxy nexus.

Nexus 4 impossible to find, might go Note II

I am in need of a new phone, looking to switch to pre-paid Straight Talk, or possibly ATT contract, and say F. you Verizon.
With the Nexus 4 M.I.A. and not being back for sale for another 3 weeks, I am tempted to just say F. waiting for it, and get the Note II instead. Thing is, I have owned all three Nexus phones, I like the Nexus line, but the Note II does look extremely tempting
Or go on Cragslist and pay a premium for a new Nexus 4, but that rubs me the wrong way, paying $150 more for it, than I should be able to buy it directly from Google. But I think LG screwed up big, didn't calculate how many Nexus 4's would sell, and only had a small amount ready at launch. I am curious to see how it goes next month, I bet the same thing, back on sale in the Play store, and sold out immediately.
Note II ? Wait for the Nexus 4 stock to replenish, but afraid it will sell out immediately right away again ? Or Craigslist Nexus 4 ?
I would definitely look at the note 2. Nexus 4 should be a hot seller but its all for that price. Android phones shouldnt be this expensive as the note2 but this is probably the only phone I'd pay this much money for.
Never been so happy with a device like this before. So snappy and yet so so many features. The size takes some time to get used to. I just found out there is a black/grey quadcore s3 lte model being sold in Hongkong which is definitely more to my liking than this giant device. If you have good lte coverage then forget aboutthe nexus 4.

Go for the note 2 lol, it will reduce some nexus fans and hopefully the phone will last longer on the play store lol
You are in the exact same spot I was in... I actually had one on order and 4 days later got a "you are on backorder" email, so I canceled the stupid thing and got the n2. Best decision I've made as far as phones go. I had the galaxy nexus and most recently the One X and I can tell you that neither hold a candle to the n2...I suspect the same with the nexus 4. You will fall in love with this screen... I promise you.

Just bought the note2!

Well guys I just bought the note 2 (yesterday) from Amazon Wireless with Sprint, Sadly my device is backordered (along with the optimus g I bought my girlfriend) That sad tale being said, What am I missing out on? The lady on the phone said it would be around mid January before my device ships and I'm really bummed out.
My history with android is as follows: LG Ally was my first device, then the samsung epic 4g slider, then I bought the galaxy nexus gsm model, and sold it due to lack of gsm coverage in my area, and because of the arrival of the nexus 4. I also own a motorola xoom wifi. I decided to buy the note2 over the nexus4 because even though the n4 has the nature of nexus which gives it the bleeding edge software updates, there were hardware notes that I just couldn't deal with so I opted for the note2.
I'm excited to get to use this device and can't wait for it to arrive, Any tips on what I should do first with my device after it's setup, like apps and games and whatnot? I'm all ears and excited as a schoolgirl for this device!

I'm wondering if they just switch the color to white if I would get it any faster? The reason I went through amazonwireless was because for both the note 2 and the optimus g it was only around 300$

[Q] VerizonWireless LTE G Pad

Any thoughts on the VerizonWireless LTE version of the G Pad that became available today?
It's available through Sunday for $100 with a two year contract, after that for $150 with contract or for $300 without contract. From what I have read so far it sounds like all they did was add LTE to the LG version. I haven't seen anything about a VW skin, bloatware, crippled features, etc.
I have an unboxed LG 510 sitting at home that I got from BB pricematched to Newegg for $280. I have another week to return it. This VW LTE version for $100 seems like a pretty nice deal if it really is the same as the 510 I have from BB except for the addition of LTE.
What do you think? Would you return the LG 510 and get a VW LTE version? Would you have any concerns about getting such an early version of the LTE?
Thanks!

If you want a Verizon LTE device, and you're ok with the contract terms, then I'd say go for it. You might want to see what the G Pad would go for on eBay.
This assumes you want/need LTE, of course. I hardly ever have a need to connect to 4G on my G Pad and when I do, I tether to my phone. Everybody's needs are different, though.
called my guy at tr store, put one aside for me for tommorow am purchase, sounds good for the 100 bucks, and 10.00 added to bill for data access, will report back in a day or so cant go wrong for this price,,lol,, see ya guys,,steve
Mine arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to it!
I got one today as a replacement for my "old" 2012 nexus 7, so far its a great device for the $($99+&50 for the bundle pkg), my only concern is that the LTE tends to lose connection occasionally even though my g2 is connected? Kinda weird but my WiFi is running anyway. Maybe an update on the way to correct this.
I'm buying one off contract at some point. I keep an LTE tab on my account because I can use the line for an upgrade for a phone....and yes there is a way to do it...shhh
This will be a hood replacement to my day 1 Xoom that I paid 700 for

clock speed
I am debating on getting one of these. One concern I have is the different clock speed of the processor. The wifi version is listed as a 1.7 quad-core, while the LTE version is listed as a 1.5 quad-core. Did they do this to save battery? Thoughts on if you think it will make a big difference?
Thanks,
vzw lte gpad in my hands right now, setting this baby up, feels good and looks good, will report back later after some quality time with this lovely new toy,,steve

I had the 7 incher and I'm loving the size of this G Pad. Hopefully some wonderful devs can help us get root soon.
All verizon 4g lte devices are SIM unlocked.

Yeah hope so! I love mine. Normally the hardware of android tabs doesn't feel quite feel this nice. I love the feel of the brushed metal. Very nice.
Being sim unlocked can I use w at&t
It was pretty much a no-brainer for me. Already had Verizon FIOS Triple Play and Verizon Wireless Smart Phone. Added the Quantum Internet for $10 a month and the G Pad w/ data for $10 a month. Then got a $20 a month discount for having Verizon Wireless and FIOS Quantum Triple Play so, overall, I broke even on the service and got some nice upgrades.
Oh, and the G Pad is a pretty nifty little device! And at $99 nobody could argue the value. Will replace my 2012 Nexus 7. Hopefully root isn't too far off!
I picked up one of these from my local Verizon store yesterday. I'm seeing roms and root instructions for the device, but the threads do not state the methods work specifically for the Verizon version. Are we waiting for things to be ported over, or can we go ahead and root, then install a more AOSP rom?

I want to love this device, but it is really choppy in navigating around. I've disabled many stock apps to see if that helps, but I can't tell much difference. My score on benchmarking apps are actually lower than my year old note 2. Should I return this device, or will a custom rom help?

Question:
Can I use my Verizon phone sim with the tablet?
I would like to switch them back and forth if that is possible.... and use google voice.

Upgrade up in August Get note 4 now or wait to see what comes out

im available for early edge through verizon now so i could get a note 4 immediately .. my actual contract ends in august.. is it worth waiting until then to see what motorola puts out (droid turbo 2?? moto x 3??) or possibly note5? or should i just pull the trigger .. i owned a note 4 around xmas time and gave it to my wife (i got her a samsung gear 2 watch) and im using her galaxy s3 and every time i use her note i cringe :0 (in a good way) every time i have to go back to my s3 ..should i wait and see what comes out from moto/samsung? or just get the note 4 and stop waiting?
note 5 wont be out until fall like normal so you would have to wait until October/November for the note 5 then. i would grab a note 4 and call it a day for now. only phone i am interested in is a larger htc one
If it were me, I'd squirrel your EDGE fees away until your contract ends, then use it towards the purchase of a like-new device on swappa or ebay, and go with an MVNO like Straight Talk (Verizon CDMA version) or Page Plus (verizon towers). You will save hundreds over the course of 2 years, more than enough to buy another new device in cash if you save the monthly cost difference between an MVNO and VZW.

I'd read somewhere that the S6, possibly even the Note 5, will not have a Micro SD card slot. You might want to look into that if that's important to you. I'm not seeing a whole lot of newer, GOOD phones with Micro SD card slots. Also, if root is important to you, just know that it still isn't available for the retail edition, but it is for the developer edition, which you can get through Samsung at full price. Not sure how a dev phone would work with contracts.
I got a note 4 Developer Edition.. The few minus's which i knew at the time of purchase was no carrier updates and no warranty.. Ohh and I had to buy it straight out.. BUT.. The freedom of roms, and root. Are soo worth it. Removable battery and SD card is MUST for me.. Ive to buy replacement batteries in the past and now its a simple couple second fix if this fast charging wears one down. If I was currently looking for a new phone I would still buy a note 4 DE or wait till spring of 2016.
got a note 4 yesterday .. so glad i did
Just picked up a note 4 yesterday as well.... Not one regret! This is coming from a LG G3. This phone is a beast! The last note I had was the note 2... Man, did I miss the s-pen! You won't be disappointed if you grab a note 4 right now, but it's really up to you.
