Just bought the note2! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Well guys I just bought the note 2 (yesterday) from Amazon Wireless with Sprint, Sadly my device is backordered (along with the optimus g I bought my girlfriend) That sad tale being said, What am I missing out on? The lady on the phone said it would be around mid January before my device ships and I'm really bummed out.
My history with android is as follows: LG Ally was my first device, then the samsung epic 4g slider, then I bought the galaxy nexus gsm model, and sold it due to lack of gsm coverage in my area, and because of the arrival of the nexus 4. I also own a motorola xoom wifi. I decided to buy the note2 over the nexus4 because even though the n4 has the nature of nexus which gives it the bleeding edge software updates, there were hardware notes that I just couldn't deal with so I opted for the note2.
I'm excited to get to use this device and can't wait for it to arrive, Any tips on what I should do first with my device after it's setup, like apps and games and whatnot? I'm all ears and excited as a schoolgirl for this device!

I'm wondering if they just switch the color to white if I would get it any faster? The reason I went through amazonwireless was because for both the note 2 and the optimus g it was only around 300$

Anyone know when GN will be available for T-Mobile

Just curious , I'm so anxious to get this phone , would be nice to see a release date at least you know . The phone came out today at best buy and it kills me to see that it is exclusively for Verizon I was so sure that when this phone was going to come out that it would go to T-Mobile first

NS launched on T-Mobile, so it was the first carrier to fully have the NS.
It is rumored that Verizon has exclusivity rights to Galaxy Nexus within the states. Its exclusivity time is unknown.
Galaxy Nexus is a pretty amazing device overall. Been using it the past few days.
how long did it take other carriers to carry it?
All you gotta do is buy a GSM Galaxy Nexus. It's pentaband so it should work fine on T-Mobile networks.
But youre gonna pay.....a LOT.

It's a little cheaper on Newegg (and more reputable site): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176322
Would like to know this also...
if you are savvy about searching this forum both expansys and negri have coupon codes that take it down to $690 & $685 respectively

Expansys & Negri are pretty reputable.
I got mines from Negri for using the promotion code "vzsucks" (might of had expired by now) but you can try. Ships out of Las Vegas, NV.
Expansys I believe ships out from Chicago, IL.
Newegg ships from: New Jersey, California, or Tenn. (Unsure which one it is for the GN)
Got mine from negri, and I am with T-Mobile. Its great a little expensive but well worth it in my opinion. Honestly, I got some sort of a twisted satisfaction knowing that I had it before Verizon assholes got it.. haha. I was upset that it went to Verizon.

Nobody has any indication whatsoever that this phone is coming to T-Mobile officially. Honestly considering that the VZW version just came out yesterday, i wouldn't be holding my breath on a T-Mo announcement any time soon.

With the Verizon device already down to $150 with a new two-year contract through Amazon Wireless, wonder if that will have any impact on whether a cheaper US version of the GSM Galaxy Nexus gets sold here. Maybe the only option will be to buy an imported GSM device. How soon before the import cost comes down to somewhere less than $600? When the quad core phones come out in the spring?

Amazon Wireless (and similar outlets) are selling brand new phones for around 1/2 their carrier price all the time. They're not discounting because of low demand, it actually makes sense for them to sell at that price. They get new contracts and extra ETFs out of it. It has nothing to do with the price of the GSM version or the version coming to the USA. Verizon has a set exclusivity time, and that contract between VZW and Google isn't going to change based on price.
I don't know how long it'll take for the import price to come down under $600, but it'll definitely be a little while. I bet you'll see it in the low $600's, but under $600 is damn cheap.
just get one imported.. or do like i did and get one in your city. i'm using it on t-mobile and everything works great! 4G/3G with better service than any other phone i've had. Yes!

Bye Bye Verizon Galaxy Nexus hello T-Mobile Samsung s2

Titles says it all Ive had lots of fun in this forum for cmda nexus...But after problem with problem through tech support and no 4g coverage,After fighting for months Verizon finally let me loose without termination fees...I went to T-mobile and got the Samsung galaxy s2...everyone i met on here rocks and thank you for all the support with this community..Ive learned so much from speaking with you all and researching the threads...ill still be here but in different thread..so far i cannot believe the speed packed into this phone it amazes me..
Good luck with new phone. If its the exynos version ive no doubt its fast, just cant go back to low rez screens.
Just post in here anyway
I've owned the T-Mobile gs2 and its not a bad phone. As fast as the nexus and I miss my 20mbps/second download speed. Good phonen enjoy!

T-Mo GS2 does not have an exynos processor. They are not compatible with LTE yet.
Yeah, the only problem I would have with T-mobile is they abandon Android support (updates) very quickly with their Samsung phones.
Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (released July 15 2010). Abandoned software update right after long delay even released 2.2 in late Jan 2011. So you are talking about a 6 month window of actual software update support.
And the Galaxy S Vibrant was considered a flagship phone with T-mobile.
Behold 2....enough said.
Sure, you can install your own roms etc. But that's not the point. It's on T-mobile and Samsung to support their Android phones.
While the S2 on T-mobile has the Qualcomm process and it's fast enough. The real reason to get it is because it supports ATT 3G bands in addition to Tmobile's AWS bands.
Other than that, enjoy the S2 on T-mobile. Maybe you should have waited till tomorrow (Feb 11th) when T-mobile has the S2 for free (with mail in rebate) on 2 year contract.
The next US president will be relected/elected by the time you see an official ice cream sandwich update on the tmobile branded S2.
Sorry it didn't work out for you. Good luck with your new phone!

Thats what i was thinking. SGS2 is a good phone but its sort of equal to the support of the CDMA nexus. Devs are leaving or getting kicked out left and right. Been back and forth between the SGS2 and the Nexus in the past 2 months. Think im gonna just stay with the Nexus. Good luck with your new phone. Enjoy.

Before switching to AT&T over the image compression issue, my GSM Galaxy Nexus worked wonderfully on T-Mobile's network.
Except for, you know, all of the JPEGs on the internet being compressed so badly they looked like amorphous blobs of color banding and compression artifacts.
Which is why I switched, since now I'm paying $30 more per month... but to be honest, I'll happily pay $30 more a month to not have my internet connection screwed with.
I would love to get an unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus, but I can't find one for a decent price.
What is the going rate for this phone right now? Where can I get the best price?

Amazon has the best price around I've seen for an unlocked GSM version.
Negri has the best price and offers warranty up to one year. Amazon doesn't offer warranty, depending on the seller's.

$595.50 shipped from Negri Electronics. https://negrielectronics.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=i9250&x=0&y=0&order=relevance&dir=desc
You can get the Canadian version which isn't yakju, but you can flash to yakju in about 5min. Or you can order the $622.50 one and have a higher chance it comes with yakju (wouldn't waste my time with that).

This! Don't trust some random Amazon seller, when you can go with a reputable US importer that offers warranty help. You can even checkout with Amazon or Google to get buyer protection.
$600 is still too rich for my blood. The problem is that this phone is a want and not a need :-/
I am off-contract with T-mobile paying ~$70 a month using a Vibrant running Bionix 1.3.1
I'm a little upset about how Google/Samsung f-ed up the release of this device (exclusivity with Verizon and no viable method other than importing for a UMTS version).
It is difficult to understand how a kickback from Verizon makes up for their lost sales with other carriers.
Galaxy S II's are available in the low 400's. I understand that the Galaxy Nexus is a little nicer, but I could justify a ~$400 purchase by selling my old Vibrant.

It does suck, but even if it was sold directly by T-Mobile or Best Buy or whomever, the cheapest it'd be retail is probably $529 + tax. So you're almost to $600 there anyways. Since you're off contract you're buying full price either way. If you really want the phone then buy it. Only you know how much $$ its worth to you though.
If you choose to buy a SGSII for $400 ish, then you're just guaranteeing you're upgrading to your next device sooner than if you bought the Galaxy Nexus because the SGSII is older. You're just paying now or paying later. Again, personal choice.
What Google should of done was do their Verizon thing but also offer the Galaxy Nexus (GSM Unlocked) via their website kind of like how the Nexus One did it (minus a CDMA version of Nexus One).

Is the Galaxy Nexus still a smart buy?

I currently sport a HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon and I'm seriously considering moving to an unlocked GSM phone + prepaid wireless. My question is do you think that the Galaxy Nexus is still a smart buy? Considering it's hardware, Google's hardware release cycle, etc. It would be one hell of an upgrade from the Thunderbolt... But I'm just curious what the general consensus is concerning whether or not it is wise to purchase it now (considering the possibility of a new Nexus phone in the future).
At this point of time, yes. But if you are able to wait for a few months, then just wait for the next Nexus.
Only you can decide if it's worth the money to you. We're pretty sure that there will be another Nexus at the end of the year, but it surely won't be $350. If you need to save the $$ and want the Nexus, pick one up.
I would just think about how urgently you need a device. If your current one is broken in some way, go ahead and get the gnex. But, as someone else said, if you can afford to wait a few months then I would get the next one.
it is a smart buy but i really hate the signal issues this phone has. i don't get 4G signal at all in my house and everywhere else in my town i get at least 3 or full bars of 4G

You can force 4g.
I bought this phone a week ago and I am in the 7th heaven.
1. Despite not having the best hardware at the moment, it works perfect with everything Android currently has to offer. There's really no software that requires a quad core CPU at the moment, at least not that I know of.
2. Currently it's the best device by far for it's price / performance (software) combo.
Besides that, I am done buying devices near their release dates, as it ends up being an epic waste of money. Once the next Nexus comes out, in 6 months it will cost half as much as it does near the release date. Then would be the perfect time to dump the GNex and get the next Nexus.
$350---Yes
Yea,!! Another one of these pointless threads!!!!!!
sent from my Galaxy Nexus running official Jelly Bean!!!!
These phones are crazy cheap outright.
I gave my girlfriend my GS3 and went back to my GNexus and couldn't be happier.
This phone will be updated by Google for a long while, considering the Nexus S still gets Jelly Bean etc. Defo a worthwhile purchase

I think its still a good buy. The new Nexus phone will probably be $700+ after taxes and the $386 I just spent for this phone is obviously a lot cheaper. Even better I'm on the $30 TMobile plan.

I just saw the LG Optimus G at Best Buy yesterday and I am not impressed. Bland Styling compared to the S III, Screen is not as Vibrant as the S III. Only plus is the Quad Core and that is not really saying much since the S III running Jelly Bean is Smooth-Responsive.
Bottom Line get the S III...
Note 2...best outta anything available. .I have sgs3 and messed with the Optimus. .cant hold a candle to the note...just my opinion

That's what I was worried about. I know the Optimus G has a 4-core and is available on AT&T, but I wasn't sure if it could compete. The specs say it has a 1280x786 TruHD display. It also (I'm sure) is loaded with bloat-ware that I don't need, and It is ICS, with JB supposedly coming in December (but you know how those things go)
I've had an HTC phone for about four years and I want to branch out. I haven't ever played with an LG phone. I had a couple of old Samsung phones pre-android and never had any problems with the phones (other than very early touch screen calibration).
I'm leaning GS3, but I'll play with both phone in the store before I make my purchase. Just wanted some opinions.
Thank you guys.
Lg optimus g has a better screen. Its a different tech but its better. Its also the fastest phone on Sprint besides possibly the Note 2. I'm also sure since LG is making the Nexus 4 this phone will be getting timely updates after its release which is this Sunday the 11th. But the S3 is awesome. The only thing I don't like is the layout of the optimus g but that can be changed with a launcher. Sam's club is going to have the S3 for 98 cents on black Friday and Sprint and best by will have it for $50.

[Q] VerizonWireless LTE G Pad

Any thoughts on the VerizonWireless LTE version of the G Pad that became available today?
It's available through Sunday for $100 with a two year contract, after that for $150 with contract or for $300 without contract. From what I have read so far it sounds like all they did was add LTE to the LG version. I haven't seen anything about a VW skin, bloatware, crippled features, etc.
I have an unboxed LG 510 sitting at home that I got from BB pricematched to Newegg for $280. I have another week to return it. This VW LTE version for $100 seems like a pretty nice deal if it really is the same as the 510 I have from BB except for the addition of LTE.
What do you think? Would you return the LG 510 and get a VW LTE version? Would you have any concerns about getting such an early version of the LTE?
Thanks!

If you want a Verizon LTE device, and you're ok with the contract terms, then I'd say go for it. You might want to see what the G Pad would go for on eBay.
This assumes you want/need LTE, of course. I hardly ever have a need to connect to 4G on my G Pad and when I do, I tether to my phone. Everybody's needs are different, though.
called my guy at tr store, put one aside for me for tommorow am purchase, sounds good for the 100 bucks, and 10.00 added to bill for data access, will report back in a day or so cant go wrong for this price,,lol,, see ya guys,,steve
Mine arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to it!
I got one today as a replacement for my "old" 2012 nexus 7, so far its a great device for the $($99+&50 for the bundle pkg), my only concern is that the LTE tends to lose connection occasionally even though my g2 is connected? Kinda weird but my WiFi is running anyway. Maybe an update on the way to correct this.
I'm buying one off contract at some point. I keep an LTE tab on my account because I can use the line for an upgrade for a phone....and yes there is a way to do it...shhh
This will be a hood replacement to my day 1 Xoom that I paid 700 for

clock speed
I am debating on getting one of these. One concern I have is the different clock speed of the processor. The wifi version is listed as a 1.7 quad-core, while the LTE version is listed as a 1.5 quad-core. Did they do this to save battery? Thoughts on if you think it will make a big difference?

Yeah hope so! I love mine. Normally the hardware of android tabs doesn't feel quite feel this nice. I love the feel of the brushed metal. Very nice.
Being sim unlocked can I use w at&t
It was pretty much a no-brainer for me. Already had Verizon FIOS Triple Play and Verizon Wireless Smart Phone. Added the Quantum Internet for $10 a month and the G Pad w/ data for $10 a month. Then got a $20 a month discount for having Verizon Wireless and FIOS Quantum Triple Play so, overall, I broke even on the service and got some nice upgrades.
Oh, and the G Pad is a pretty nifty little device! And at $99 nobody could argue the value. Will replace my 2012 Nexus 7. Hopefully root isn't too far off!
I picked up one of these from my local Verizon store yesterday. I'm seeing roms and root instructions for the device, but the threads do not state the methods work specifically for the Verizon version. Are we waiting for things to be ported over, or can we go ahead and root, then install a more AOSP rom?

I want to love this device, but it is really choppy in navigating around. I've disabled many stock apps to see if that helps, but I can't tell much difference. My score on benchmarking apps are actually lower than my year old note 2. Should I return this device, or will a custom rom help?

I am using Nova launcher and I also disabled the animations. Maybe I should try Apex and see if it's better.

Question:
Can I use my Verizon phone sim with the tablet?
I would like to switch them back and forth if that is possible.... and use google voice.
