"Unfortunately Bluetooth has Stopped" Error - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone else seeing the error message "Unfortunately Bluetooth has Stopped" pop up repeatedly, as often as every 1-2 minutes? This happens even when I'm not connected to a BT device. It started happening to me yesterday and it's driving me crazy.
Checking logcat, I see these messages: pastebin. I was wondering if it's a manifestation of the bug in this article at Android Police, but surely that has been fixed by now? I'm presently unrooted and totally stock so I'm thinking a factory reset might be my only option, unless someone can suggest something else?

Yes!
Exactly the same thing. Driving me nuts.
I've tried to trace to an app but no luck.
Also totally stock, unrooted.
(Telstra Australia image).
Have been putting off reset as long as I can.
I see you are in Oz also.. are you running Telstra stock image?
I spoke to their online 'help'.. who said that it would be an LG issue and to talk to them.. confirming that they believe LG are responsible for all the QA on their image.
I'm going to factory reset... and see what happens.

No, I have the international H815. I've had it for a couple of months and this just started happening yesterday.
Do you perchance have Garmin Connect installed, and talking to a Garmin device?

hmm... no.. I don't... (this sounds like a game of Guess Who).
My son was getting the same problem on his S3.. but associated it with Spotify. Once he uninstalled the app, the problem went away.
I did have Spotify... but uninstalling did nothing.
Just went through phone looking for 'bluetooth' stuff. Have uninstalled Fitbit, LG Health, IFTTT,
All smart settings are off.
Restarted,,, waiting for error.

I'm suspecting it will work ok... for a while.
I'm now wondering if this is a manifestation of this problem, as the OP was getting the same message in his log as I am seeing. If so this is pretty grim. I use the phone to listen to music and podcasts in the car all the time, so if this is going to keep happening then it's severely impacting my use of this phone. I guess we can only hope that LG come good with a software update that will address this, unless someone else has a workaround?

I'm also having the same problem, I cannot seem to pin it to a specific app. I've tried clearing the Bluetooth cache and even a complete factory reset and I am still getting the same issue, if someone has a fix please post it's driving me crazy

Did your phone do it from Day 1 or did it just start doing it at some random point in time?
Also, when you did a factory reset did you perchance use LG backup or something to save your settings?

Yes it's done it since day one when I got it (about a week ago) once I did a factory reset I set it up as a new phone and downloaded my apps from the play store, the only thing I didn't try was streaming music without any apps installed and just using Google play music to steam music via Bluetooth, without doing that it's hard to tell if it's a lg issue or a 3rd party app that is causing it

Me too, though SGS5 handset, and only started yesterday morning.
Telstra Australia image, stock unrooted, cleared blue tooth cache and data, removed all paired devices, removed battery....still no joy
Would be great to hear if anyone has found a way to resolve.
Thanks

have you guys maybe trackID installed? for me bluetooth was off but i had this problem that bluetooth has stopped and uninstalling trackID solved it.
maybe i could help you

No TrackiD for me.
I seem to be able to make the error appear when I'm scrolling down Facebook news feed.
No error when Bluetooth is off.. but that's not an option for how I use my phone.

I don't have TrackID installed either.
I did a factory install last night and let my apps reinstall overnight. I'm not getting the error this morning and was able to drive to work listening to podcasts with no disconnections. So it's "fixed", for now at least, though I fully expect that it will return at some point in the future.

If I do a factory reset will I lose root? Thanks in advance

Bit the bullet and did a factory reset last night, problem solved.
Appears it was a Telstra update that has caused the problem to several brands of phones.

were you rooted?
I want to do a factory reset but I'm rooted and don't want to lose it.
thanks

No, I was on stock Telstra modified firmware

use logcat to track the issue, it can be caused by bad data from apps, usually if you wipe the data it can be solved
try clear the bluetooth settings, it can be corrupt data

Factory reset, and restored from full LG Backup.
Haven't seen the issue for a couple of days.

I had this problem and found out the cause was Spotify, I uninstalled it and re-installed it and havent seen the issue for over a week now

The problem came back after a couple of weeks.. and is just constant.. even when factory reset back to stock and no apps installed.
Rooted phone. Froze 'Android Staten Webview'...believe issue resolved.

Nexus Prime - Market download problem!

Hi all,
I got my Nexus Prime today. I'm quite impressed, but it has a problem that's driving me mad.
When I first turned on my handset and entered my Google username it tried to download all the old apps from my previous Android handsets - I didn't ask it to nor did I want it to! Anyway, this failed part way through and none of the apps actually installed.
Since owning this device a few hours ago I cannot install anything through the Android market at all. I keep getting told that the download failed due to an error, but nothing further.
I've tried rebooting the handset but nothing appears to be able to be downloaded.
I can download from other sources, for example I downloaded the Swype installer and that installed fine, from the Swype website (Swype states it's not compatible with this handset!)
I'm not sure if this is a general bug or if there's something wrong with my individual handset but it would be interesting to see if anyone else has this problem?
Hi I had this problem too, unfortunately clearing cache and data from Market doesn't do anything (at least for me), I had to do a factory reset, worked for me and my friend who also had the same problem.
Damn, after an evening of customising my handset I was hoping not to have to do that.
So it appears we've discovered an issue with this handset.
Yep, that fixed it.
Annoying though..............

The way to avoid that is by skipping the initial guide and then att your account in settings instead. I agree that they should just ask you instead but the above way has worked ever since that feature was intruduced in 2.2.
Sorry for the bump but I'm having the exact same issue.
Just rooted the phone and after all apps were restored I tried downloading apps and keep getting that error.
I already did a factory reset several times and nothing. Just tried skipping the setup and adding my google accounts later but I'm still getting the same error :X
Anyone has any idea how to fix this problem? Do I have to return my phone?
It's been driving me crazy..

I seem to have managed to fix this now. I popped my sim into my old android phone, I noticed that the apn settings being used on old phone are different to those GN has setup by default for my network provider. I just copied those through to the new phone and market works again . Hope this helps someone.
Having the same issue also. I'm on Telus in Canada and the APN settings are the same on my old phone. I have done a factory reset and am still having this issue. Please help!
Are you guys rooted? If you are it could be the ROM your using?

Or just let it restore, and wait. It can take hours, let it do its thing. By tomorrow will be working again.

You are right. It's the weirdest problem I've seen but somehow it just fixed itself.. Apps install fine now (too bad I didn't know that before doing a million factory resets and deleting my settings)
Figured it out. I had to clear the proxy address in my apn settings

seems my Service Provider's settings where blocking downloads esp the Proxy... hmmmm
I've had this problem since yesterday, Market wont download over wifi or data network, messages 'Error while processing payment' or '... could not be downloaded due to error'
I'm running a stock GSM nexus and have tried clearing the market data and rebooting but no luck, I'd rather not have to do a factory reset if I can avoid it.
Any ideas anyone?

[Q] No download when using Play store

Dear forum, I am at my end here. I've been searching all day (Luckily I had a day off!) but I cannot find the sollution to my problem. So I came here, in a last hope of finding the person who can solve this issue.
This is what happened, in every detail, so no clues are left uncovered.
I had an unlocked-rooted Galaxy Nexus GSM with android 4.0.2 (yakju) my provider is Tele2 (Netherlands). I got the message that a OTA version of 4.0.4 was released a while ago. So when I said "Yes, install this" it would give me an error when installing (android w/ a red exclamation mark) so I tried to ignore it. But every day, multiple times a day, a screen would pop up asking me to update my phone.
Today I gave in. I downloaded the new toolkit (7.0) from here and got on with my business. After backing up I installed the stock version of the newest release, build: IMM76I. after the initial set up (wifi, apn) I rooted the 4.0.4 again for my future root-access-needing apps to properly run. When I booted back into my phone, that's when all hell broke loose.
I was on WIFI, and all seemed well, apps were installing because of it backing up all "my apps" from the Play store. but suddenly it stopped updating at skype. so I wanted to check out what was happening in the store. I opened the store but it just kept loading. I checked my browser, and it couldn't load anything, just said it kept on loading. "Maybe a quick reboot will suffice" And so I did.
This time also, apps would start to download, but after a few seconds, the downloading would freeze again. I disconnected from wifi and tried the browser, to no effect, same problem. I waited reaaal long, and the store gave me error 495. so I checked it out, it said it was a cache problem, so I deleted my cache and rebooted.
Now, it did not start redownloading my apps, but my browser worked, I could open the store, browse it, check my apps, everything was fine, besides the fact that it was pretty slow. anyways. I now had to back up all my apps manually. No problem? YES PROBLEM. the very moment I started updating my apps again, the downloads froze and the browser stopped working etc.. back at the start.
Now here I am, having my phone only partially updated, unable to download my apps back. does anyone know how to solve this? Am I looking over something that is extremely obvious? Or is it something maybe many of you experienced with 4.0.4(.2 I guess)?
I hope one of those many people here on the forum can help me with this!
With my friendly greetings,
Kevin Nijmeijer
Go to settings and find the play store in your app list. Hit it and erase cache and clear data.
"Long is the way, and hard, that out of hell leads up to light."
Did you verify the MD5 hash of your download? Really sounds like something is up.
Also have you tried any other radios (the google factory images dont always come with the most optimal radio for your area)
EDIT: Oh and not sure if this is relevant but with my unlocked/rooted GNex I have found that when flashing ROMs it sometimes loses my APN settings for my mobile network. I googled my providers APN settings and found them easily but without them i have no data

Thank you for the reply, but I did not understand half of it (my bad!) What is MD5 hash? And what do you mean Radio?
I too lost my APN settings, but I always add them, first thing on the list whenever I get a new phone or a new ROM

MD5 hash is basically a check to verify that your downloaded file is 100% the same as the original. I rarely do it myself and have never had an issue but these issues sound like something might not have been right.
When I say radio you can actually flash just the radio of your phone (affects your mobile data connection) and you can try other kernels which affect the Wi-Fi portion to see if either of those help.
I assumed when you said unlocked and rooted that you had unlocked/rooted the phone but I see you used a toolkit. If you read up on how to manually flash you can find out how to flash just the radio (where are you located? Can probably find the optimal radio by searching the forums here)
Dumb question but have you tried factory reset?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Thanks everyone!
Everyone thank you for contributing! After reïnstalling I could use the market over network! (still having some wi-fi issues though, but I probably already found a sollution for that) It seems it actually WAS a bad download, so I did a factory reset, locked it, then did everything over from scratch and now it works!
I will look for my optimal radio here on the forums, I'm in the Netherlands, Utrecht, so maybe someone can point me to it via P.M.
For the rest, the problem of this topic is found, it was a bad download, so to fix this issue, just reset and reïnstall!
Thanks everyone a heap for helping out!

[Q] Bluetooth works but suddenly causes bootloop. Is this due to faulty firmwares?

Hey guys, I bought a Galaxy Nexus almost a week back but as its not launched officially in India its not under warranty and so I can't get it replaced.
Out of the box it came with ICS. Everything was going fine including Bluetooth file transfers. But the phone went to a boot loop (stuck at boot animation) when I tried to activate Bluetooth. Mind you that Bluetooth had been working fine, I got this issue all of a sudden.
I went into recovery mode and recovered my phone but all data was lost.
Later I updated to official stock ICS. Again the Bluetooth worked fine for few days and later suddenly went into a boot loop. I recovered my phone but this time too lost all my data.
Now I'm obviously very scared to use Bluetooth. Some people say that its a faulty firmware and I should flash another firmware.
What shall I do? Could this really be a firmware issue? And if yes then which firmware shall I flash and how to flash?
Currently I'm on stock JB on my GSM GNex which is unrooted and has a locked boot loader.

Bluetooth Boot Loop
Im having the same problem.. Please let me know if you found a solution.. I'll give you update if I find one myself..
The list of Android units that I have encountered this was with
2 units of Asus TF101G and 1 unit TF300T
My TF101G was fixed when I installed a Custom ROM (Revolution HD)
I'm open to rooting my phone but not to unlock the bootloader to keep the warranty..
Hard Reset fixed it but after a few days when I activate the Bluetooth it will start with the Boot Loop.. It's very frustrating to install apps and everything.
Perhaps is it related with the files I installed?
Afaik, bluetooth radio is controlled by the baseband. What version are you guys using?
Im currently using TF300T
Asus Official WW Jellybean ROM
I think It's not related with the JellyBean coz I expereienced it with ICS before when Im using TF101G
The baseband of my GNex is I9250XXLF1. I am on official JB (4.1.1) on yakjuxfw.
Please help me, this is really annoying and I'm very scared to activate Bluetooth now.

You are on the latest baseband and Android version. And since you are completely stock and the problem also manifested itself on ICS, I'm going to say you are probably having a hardware issue there.
That's really sad to hear. And as the GNex is not available officially in India, I can't get it replaced either.
BTW you said 'probably', what can be the other possibility?
Well I too have something to elaborate. Both the times (on ICS and JB), the problem occurred while activating Bluetooth from Notification Toggle (downloaded from Play Store). It's not that whenever I used Notification Toggle did the problem occur. Several times Bluetooth successfully got activated using Notification Toggle.
So as much as I feel that it could be a problem of Notification Toggle, I feel that the opposite is possible too.
Another thing is that I had downloaded a paid app for free from a torrent website. Tapatalk to be precise. Many of my friends suggested that and I wanted to try it out and so downloaded it from torrents. On both bootloop occasions, that 'pirated' copy of Tapatalk was present in my phone.
Now I have purchased Tapatalk, uninstalled that pirated copy, uninstalled Notification Toggle and now I just tried three Bluetooth transfers with my system (2 send and 1 receive) and they took place perfectly. Is it possible that the pirated copy of Tapatalk was causing the issue?
I know it's not ethical and even against the XDA rules to discuss about such pirated copies but I didn't want to hide anything when asking for a solution to my issue.

If the problem happens again, I think you have to return it to where you purchased it from as it may be a hardware defect. Let's just hope it doesn't happen again. And I know you mentioned India does not officially sell the Galaxy Nexus. All the best!

and yes, it happened to me too. Its bootloop, then i took the simcard out, then power on again, but takes a long time, only X logo for more than 10 minutes. Then its going to menu. Then, well, i check the settting, turn on the bluetooth again, bump ! it happened again.

[Q] Problems with Google Music on M8 and Wifi

For some reason I can't get Google Music to actually download anything to my phone. I'm trying to do an offline playlist for when I'm travelling and don't want to use 4g. This has worked on multiple devices I've had in the past, so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. What's odd is, it won't stream music either unless I allow it to use 4G. I've reset my router and modem, restarted the phone, cleared the app data and cache and signed in again. Nothing I seem to do works and I'm getting irritated. These are songs I uploaded to and/or purchased from Google Music. Also, I do have data connectivity to everything else I can think of, work email, gmail, facebook and the internet as a whole are all working on the phone. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!
Continuing my research, I found a review in the play store of someone with an HTC One (doesn't say if it's M7 or M8) that has the same problem. No reply to it though.

I have this EXACT same issue. I can mark my playlists or radio stations for offline download, but if the checkbox for 'download on wifi only' is ticked, it never downloads.
The same thing happens with google photos and auto upload. If I have it set to upload on wifi only, it never happens. So the problem is very similar, but only with this device. My nexus 5, and Nexus 7 don't have this issue. So it's likely software, but I just can't figure out what it would be. I really don't want to do a factory reset and have to set everything up again. Maybe there's some HTC software messing it up?
Summary of issue:
ONLY happens in google music and google photos
only happens when set to 'download(or upload) on wifi only'
Only happens on the htc one m8
Issue does not occur on nexus 5, or nexus 7.
Thank goodness it's not just me, I just realized it's happening for me on google photos auto backup as well yesterday. I concur it's got to be something software based but I'm not sure what it could be, the photo backups did work for me without issue for a while, I ended up turning it off for a couple days for some reason I can't recall, and never noticed after turning it back on that it wasn't actually uploading.

Mine worked well when I first set everything up, but that was because it defaulted to uploading over mobile networks. I usually set it to upload on wifi only when charging, and google music downloads over wifi only. Ever since I set them to wifi, they don't sync properly. If I switch them back to use the mobile network, everything works fine. I'm so annoyed with this. I tried running a logcat and it didn't seem to offer too much info that I could notice. I switched back to the dalvik runtime from art with no change. The next step is a factory reset, but I'm not sure that's going to help me.
I'm pretty sure I had mine on wifi only as well, but I could be wrong. I'm not going to have time to mess around with it anymore until later tonight (US Eastern Time Zone), have you tried calling support at all? I haven't yet, but may give it a go. If not, I'll let you know when I'm going to try a factory reset and whichever of us can first should post if it resolved the issue or not hehe.
Oh, one thing I just thought of, are you using Lookout Mobile Security?

I'm pretty sure I had mine on wifi only as well, but I could be wrong. I'm not going to have time to mess around with it anymore until later tonight (US Eastern Time Zone), have you tried calling support at all? I haven't yet, but may give it a go. If not, I'll let you know when I'm going to try a factory reset and whichever of us can first should post if it resolved the issue or not hehe.

I'm fairly certain support isn't going to be useful. They're going to suggest a handful of unrelated things to try, then they're going to have you do a factory reset. I'm NOT using lookout security. That was the first thing I disabled. I don't need that crap on my phone lol. I could technically do a factory reset now, I just don't want to spend my free time at work today reinstalling and setting up all my apps and settings.
Yeah, I don't really think support would be useful either. I thought about tweeting at @HTC or @HTCUSA about it, but they'd probably do the same thing as support. I do have Lookout turned on, figured it was worth a thought if you did as well. I would take the time to do the factory reset today while at work but am prepping for a major DR test so I'm just flat out not going to have the time, plus I don't want to mess up my exchange account etc lol
Do you have any corporate applications on? We use Airwatch for MDM at my office, and even though it's not *supposed* to have any impact on personal devices other than requiring a PIN lock, I'm wondering if something else is causing me connectivity issues of some sort.

Just went through htc support. no luck there. Had me clear cache and reset data on a bunch of apps to no avail. I'm going to do a hard reset and see if that helps.

I don't have any corporate apps installed that would enforce policies. No.
Awesome, well, let me know if it works for you, this is seriously annoying. :-\

I'll be sure to do that. Do you have 2-step authentication installed by any chance?

Factory reset didn't fix it. Ugh. This is a deal breaker for me! I've only had the phone for 3 days, but I don't want to return it...
I contacted HTC to see what they can offer as far as extra help...I'll keep you posted.
Thanks, I called the T-Mobile store I got mine from to see if they'd heard of anyone having this issue, they hadn't and want me to stop in so they can take a look. I've been using Android since the G1 and also have had my usual crew of fellow Android geeks here at the office take a look and everyone came back to factory reset. I don't really feel like going to the store to have them suggest that as well and find out, like you, that it doesn't work. I'll let you know if I find anything else out also. Thanks man!

Well I'll clear that up by saying a factory reset isn't going to fix it. It's a software issue.
Exactly what I said, I'm tempted to root and try another ROM as I've had mine for over a month now. I'm wondering if you're up for it if you'd try another M8 to see if it happens there too? I've been trying to figure this out since June 1st and haven't really found anyone else dealing with the issue, kinda wonder if it's a glitch with the Wifi as I'd think if it was a pure software issue it would be more prevalent. :-\

I highly doubt it's an issue with wifi because it works fine. I could surf the internet all day and it would just work. Yet, auto upload, and downloading songs in play music doesn't work. Super annoying. I'll probably give it a try tonight/tomorrow and see how it goes though.
I just figure since you just got yours they may give you less of a hard time about exchanging. I'll go fight with them either way, but I have to probably wait another week as i'm on call starting Friday for a week and can't go without my phone at all :-\

I'll swing by there when I get a chance. If I can get a replacement, I'll take it. But I really don't think the device is the issue. Something is amiss here.

Facebook/Instagram images slow to load

Facebook images on my pixel XL randomly don't load correctly. Basically when I tab a pictures to maximize it nothing happens unless I hit back and try again. Even then it sometimes doesn't work. Occasionally the same thing will happen on Instagram but mostly on FB. Search back in this thread to see if I could find anything but didn't. Does anyone else have this happen? Could it be a ram issue? I'm trying to see if it's worth it to RMA

does this type of issue occur in any other app? have you tried browsing on chrome and seeing if images fail to display properly on it? try browsing a picture heavy site like imgur and see if any of those fail. This will let you know if it's something with the phone in general or something with those two apps.
You shouldn't have to RMA off of that you can always wipe the cache, uninstall/reinstall the app, factory image without wiping. If all that fails to fix that issue then yeah you're going to need to start that exchange process...
Yeah, I've tried everything I can think of. Reinstalling doesn't work. I was running a custom rom and just went back to stock and it seemed to fix the problem but then it just started doing it again.

It might be a bug with the Facebook app. It might also be that you installed an app that is clashing with Facebook. When you went back to stock did you do a full flash of the stock image or cheat by keeping your user data? If you did the latter you might want to do a full flash where your phone starts off completely clean. If you did the former and already started out clean you might want to contact Pixel support and see if they have any ideas.
Another possibility is to do a factory reset. I'm not sure if Facebook comes on the phone by default or not. If it does don't install any of your downloaded apps and see if the Facebook app problem returns. If it doesn't download your apps one at a time until you figure out which one is causing the problem.

I'm having that issue with my IG even after a clean flash and install of my rom and the app itself
Yeah did a full wipe including user data. I'm just trying to figure out if anybody has had this issue. I'm going to try Google support and see what they say. It's not a huge deal but it takes away from the overall experience of the phone.
my instagram is very slow, too

Okay, thanks. That's what I was thinking. After talking to my gf she said her Pixel does the same thing. I probably won't bother trying to rma since I'm unlocked on Verizon
Pixel slow to load Twitter pics
I just got my pixel 2 XL Twitter pics are barely loading after unintall and reinstall no better. WiFi is good on all other apps. Current update uninstalled.
