Hello.
I purchased the 32GB fire phone and I'm very satisfied with it (on rhe cm,,,)
But
It has a hardware problem,
When the USB cable is moving a bit the phone is disconnecting from pc / charging
I tried six different cables....
does any one else experience this problem?
so
I need to return it,
After receiving the device I updated it to 4.6.1
I installed:
kingroot
safestrap
cm
gapps
supersu
I dont have any backups
Now before I give it back, I need to return it to the previous state with a clean fire os
how do I do it??
thanks

It's not the answer you're expecting, but have you tried with the USB cable that came with the phone? Just wondering.

Yes, you should, at least once. I mean, if the cable that came with the phone doesn't work, the phone is faulty. If the cable works, then all your other cables aren't supported by the phone.

After solving this problem I got a new one. My SGN won't mount even though I have USB debugging on. Windows both 64bit and 32bit won't recognize it. I try to install/reinstall the drivers but I can't since the phone won't mount. I haven't found any similar problems to this for SGN. Any suggestions/directions?
Thanks in advance.
p.s. I started a new thread since this is a different problem and probably not connected to the previous. I hope that's ok.

Just starting with the basics here. But have you tried a different USB port? If it's a desktop, the ones in the back (directly connected to the motherboard) are usually your best bet.
Second, are you using the stock cable? I've had problems with a few phones I've worked on that didn't like communicating with non factory cable.

I have tested every usb port both in my PC and laptop. I have used two different cables and I tried both Windows and Linux (Ubuntu). The cables are fine, my HTC Desire connects just fine. The phones charges but not connecting and this happened an hour ago after solving the previous problem I mentioned it the first post. So I'm 99% sure that the problem is about the device, not the PC/Laptop.
Read the connected thread to get the history of what happened. After returning to stock ICS I got the message for the JB update. Updated and now the phone works fine except the USB debugging and the fact that I don't have CWM atm. I can't install it either because I need to mount the phone. :/
Thanks for the quick reply though.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the device when connected does nothing, doesn't matter if I have USB debugging on or off.

Just out of curiosity are you using a legal with fast charge turn on because you can't mount the phone and use fast charge. If so turn it off and try again.

I had a similar problem and had to go buy a data microUSB to USB cable from RadioShack, instead of using the cable that connects to a charger.

You can install ROM Manager from the app store and flash CMW Recovery from there.

I said "app store", wtf! I never even owned an iphone, lol. Here's the link to what you need: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDMsImNvbS5rb3VzaGlrZHV0dGEucm9tbWFuYWdlciJd
Once installed, go to the app, the top option will flash CMW Recovery to your phone.

No problem.
I was unable to mount with my Razr after I factory wiped to sell it a few weeks back. I wanted to make sure my SD ext had been wiped with the reset, but it wouldn't mount. Performed another factory reset and that solved the problem. That was with stock OTA ICS though.
However, I'm not sure that would help you much in this case since it looks like you did a clean install.

I've been having some trouble with this too. My phone does connect and "mount" (that's not exactly what happens, since it uses MTP rather than USB Mass Storage), but it always takes a while. The phone device shows up immediately, but the actual storage (shown under the phone device) always takes a minute or so to show up. It works just fine after that, but it's still pretty annoying to have to wait. I don't think I had this behavior before JB.

Mine does that too but what I've noticed is that if I have a screen lock/pin set that I have to unlock it first before it will show up

Oh, you're right! Just checked to make sure, and that's exactly what's going on. The internal storage shows up the second I unlock the phone, and if it's already unlocked when I connect it the storage shows up immediately. Guess I've always unlocked the phone after a while when it hasn't seemed to be working in the past, to check that it's indeed connected using MTP, but just haven't realized that unlocking it is what makes it show up. But that actually makes perfect sense, of course - you wouldn't want anyone to be able to access the files on a locked phone by just connecting it to a computer.

+1. Fast Charge could be enabled by your kernel. If you use the Franco update app or Trinity kernel control you should check that.
Device and Software: HTC Inspire 4g, JellyTime r29(previously Android Revolution HD 6.3.1)
Problem:
Cannot choose how to connect to PC(no usb options appear on the phone), the phone starts charging as soon as I plug it in.
Possible Cause:
I connected my phone to a USB port on a car stereo and my phone and the stereo kept flipping back and forth between screens. I disconnected the phone immediately, but the USB connected icon was still in my notification bar. I restarted the phone and everything seemed fine until I tried to plug my phone in 3 days ago.
Things I've Tried Already:
-Restarting the phone
-Pulling the battery
-Trying different USB Ports
-Trying different cables
-Trying different PCs
-Trying USB Debugging both on and off
-Trying fastboot on and off
-Trying an "auto-mount" app(Multi-Mount SD)
-Trying "USB Mass Storage" App for Jelly Bean
-Setting Disk Drive mode as default and turning the "Ask Me" option on and off
-Reflashing the ROM (followed these directions for flashing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257731)
-Flashing the USB fix found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24198708&postcount=90
-Flashing a new ROM
-Searching for a solution(derp).

I was thinking about it, but this one has been working fine for months so It seems unlikely to me that that's the cause, especially when i haven't come across anyone running the same ROM with the same problem.
I'll still think about it, I dunno what ROM I'd switch to though. I liked CyanogenMod 7 but that one wouldn't run videos correctly for some reason :\

I have had ROMs get glitchy over time; no idea why, but I have seen it happen. And I think that second line is just his signature.

Just flashed JellyTime, I still have the same problem :\.
It charges fine right?

Yup. I just tried using USB Mass Storage app for JB, and that doesn't work either, although apparently the app does know that the USB is plugged in.
Most likely a port problem on your device. Go to a repair shop and see how much they charge

Well that sucks. I did get it to come up once by flashing a rooted stock rom, but when I selected disk drive nothing showed up on my PC, and when I disconnected it and reconnected it the icon wouldn't show up anymore XP
.:Edit:.
I just realized I put this in the wrong forum .

Try going to a fully stock state (S-ON, stock no root) and see if it helps. If not, definitely a port problem.

How do you do that without being able to connect to the PC?
Flash an RUU. I'll ask someone from the Ace Think Tank to help you, they're the best
If I find a link to an RUU ill post it. Where you from in the world?

I found this one(the bottom one), but it says I have to be connected to a PC to get it to work. Also, I'm from America.
First flash a different rom see if the same issue happens in that rom. You can also boot into recovery and try mounting the sd card before flashing a ruu. You may also want to reinstall the drivers for your phone (the drivers on your pc).

I've reinstalled the drivers that come with the Advanced Ace Hack Kit multiple times. Do you think I should I uninstall them and use the stock drivers?

Yeah, sorry about that. I skimmed through the post. After submitting the reply I saw that you already tried a different rom. You could give that a shot, installing htc sync. Have you tried the sd card on a different phone, or connected directly to the computer or a different sd card on your phone? Besides this I'm out of ideas.

Ahh Tei has joined the party
I'm still sticking with a port replacement, it's the last thing that's left (as far as I can think of)

Greetings, i have my t989 rooted with 4.1.2 original rom. It was with that version when i got it yesterday and then i root it and change the rom to 4.0.3 just to unlock for free without any problem. I return to 4.1.2 after all and root it all good until i want to transfer something to my phone and now the phone disconect from computer. I try many cables and then plugged it to a wall charger and it was not.charging then i clean the charging port of my phone and it started to work great but again it started with the same problem.
May the problem be the root? Or i just damage my new phone? It looks almost new and as i said i could install all the thing until root it.
Could you help me?

I would flash a different rom and see if it works then.. Also check all your settings Usb debug etc... Defentily try different roms if it don't work on multiple other roms then it could lead you to believe its hardware related...Hit thanks if this helped. If you have any other issues then message me
I just take it to a rep and fic the problem. It seems like the usb got a problem. Thanks

So, ive been having problems with my usb port on my phone, and I was planning to go back to stock and use my warranty, but i can't connect it to my computer. I've tried plenty of cables. Most of them aren't working at all, but one cable manages to be able to charge it. Nothing else. Is there anything I can do or am i SOL because I have an unlocked bootloader, custom recovery, and everything else.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried using compressed air and/or a toothbrush to clean out the port?
It could just have debris/lint in it that is interfering.
Worth a shot if you haven't tried already.

Hi all,
I had a problem with my mi6... My dougther was cycling, and drop my phone. Something happened then, and the phone wasn't charging any more with cables... works only in one stand...
So, I've bought a new board, in aliexpress (https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/Carr...110.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3da2b90awX1ker), installed, and the charging is ok.
But now, I can't connect any more... I believe I have to reinstall all the system, but without a cable is too dificult to do all the backups...
Any tips?
Hi,
I've had the same issue as you, and have yet to find a solution. Check out this thread I made with everything I attempted to do to fix this problem.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-6/help/phone-charges-connected-to-pc-t3884228
I also thought that changing the connection port would solve the issue but it didn't. Although I bought a cheap non-oem version. Maybe this has something to do with it ?
If you have linux, you can look into KDE connect to transfer files from your phone to your PC. That's what i've resorted in doing. It's not an ideal solution (can't update my rom) but it's better than nothing. I think you can make KDE connect run on windows PCs as well.
Best of luck !

I'm still trying to fix it. My problem is the computer is looping as soon as I connect the cable on the USB. Seems to me some driver problem.
I need to connect, but also need to be able to connect on TWRP. I also tought tha could be a driver issue, and guess that if I update the ROM, it could be fixed.
am I wrong?
