So, ive been having problems with my usb port on my phone, and I was planning to go back to stock and use my warranty, but i can't connect it to my computer. I've tried plenty of cables. Most of them aren't working at all, but one cable manages to be able to charge it. Nothing else. Is there anything I can do or am i SOL because I have an unlocked bootloader, custom recovery, and everything else.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried using compressed air and/or a toothbrush to clean out the port?
It could just have debris/lint in it that is interfering.
Worth a shot if you haven't tried already.

So I've tried connecting my phone to several computers and they all end up saying that the device is not recognized. Because of this, I can't even odin my phone to stock or anything else. So I can't exactly call sprint or samsung about it. It was working fine up until just now. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Did you download the Samsung driver ?
Simply AOSP 3.1.1

Yes, sounds like your data cable is going bad. Grab another one. Palm Pre or Blackberry has heavy duty cables. Heard there was a good one for $2 on Amazon. Get fresh drivers from Samsung's site or from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052813
Hope this helps.
Yea I've gotten the right drivers. Right now, I'm in the process of doing root and flashing roms without a computer... using rom manager. Maybe a new rom will fix it. I'm going to order a new data cable and hope that will work.

I've tried 4 different cables on multiple computers. Mine says USB not recognized as well. How do you root and flash roms with rom manager???
Hey man, same thing was happening to me, I ended up bricking my epic with the stock cord, but I grabbed my brothers evo cord, and worked first try, dump the stock cable definitely.

I used this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062395
Also, instead of using cwm 2.x, you can go the development forum and get the new cwm and flash that instead, just make the necessary adjustments (i.e. when flashing using ROM manager, tap 3.x instead of 2.x etc. etc.)
I am now running gingerbread on here. And I am going to try a new cable that I ordered later this week.
Device and Software: HTC Inspire 4g, JellyTime r29(previously Android Revolution HD 6.3.1)
Problem:
Cannot choose how to connect to PC(no usb options appear on the phone), the phone starts charging as soon as I plug it in.
Possible Cause:
I connected my phone to a USB port on a car stereo and my phone and the stereo kept flipping back and forth between screens. I disconnected the phone immediately, but the USB connected icon was still in my notification bar. I restarted the phone and everything seemed fine until I tried to plug my phone in 3 days ago.
Things I've Tried Already:
-Restarting the phone
-Pulling the battery
-Trying different USB Ports
-Trying different cables
-Trying different PCs
-Trying USB Debugging both on and off
-Trying fastboot on and off
-Trying an "auto-mount" app(Multi-Mount SD)
-Trying "USB Mass Storage" App for Jelly Bean
-Setting Disk Drive mode as default and turning the "Ask Me" option on and off
-Reflashing the ROM (followed these directions for flashing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257731)
-Flashing the USB fix found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24198708&postcount=90
-Flashing a new ROM
-Searching for a solution(derp).
Try a different ROM?

I was thinking about it, but this one has been working fine for months so It seems unlikely to me that that's the cause, especially when i haven't come across anyone running the same ROM with the same problem.
I'll still think about it, I dunno what ROM I'd switch to though. I liked CyanogenMod 7 but that one wouldn't run videos correctly for some reason :\

Not really sure how that's relevant, but ok.

I have had ROMs get glitchy over time; no idea why, but I have seen it happen. And I think that second line is just his signature.

Ah, most forums have a bar separating the signature from the post so I was confused lol.
Just flashed JellyTime, I still have the same problem :\.
It charges fine right?

Yup. I just tried using USB Mass Storage app for JB, and that doesn't work either, although apparently the app does know that the USB is plugged in.
Most likely a port problem on your device. Go to a repair shop and see how much they charge

Well that sucks. I did get it to come up once by flashing a rooted stock rom, but when I selected disk drive nothing showed up on my PC, and when I disconnected it and reconnected it the icon wouldn't show up anymore XP
.:Edit:.
I just realized I put this in the wrong forum .

Try going to a fully stock state (S-ON, stock no root) and see if it helps. If not, definitely a port problem.

How do you do that without being able to connect to the PC?
Flash an RUU. I'll ask someone from the Ace Think Tank to help you, they're the best
If I find a link to an RUU ill post it. Where you from in the world?

I found this one(the bottom one), but it says I have to be connected to a PC to get it to work. Also, I'm from America.
First flash a different rom see if the same issue happens in that rom. You can also boot into recovery and try mounting the sd card before flashing a ruu. You may also want to reinstall the drivers for your phone (the drivers on your pc).

I've reinstalled the drivers that come with the Advanced Ace Hack Kit multiple times. Do you think I should I uninstall them and use the stock drivers?

Yeah, sorry about that. I skimmed through the post. After submitting the reply I saw that you already tried a different rom. You could give that a shot, installing htc sync. Have you tried the sd card on a different phone, or connected directly to the computer or a different sd card on your phone? Besides this I'm out of ideas.

Yup, the SD card works on my old Samsung Rant. I'll try installing the stock drivers, thanks for trying to help.
Ahh Tei has joined the party
I'm still sticking with a port replacement, it's the last thing that's left (as far as I can think of)

Hello
I'm having issues connecting my phone to my computer.
It simply does not recognize my phone.
I had one of my friends flash a ROM for me but I have since then forgotten which one it is.
I searched a bit on the internet and tried a couple of things with no success.
I tried turning my phone off then connecting the starting up but nothing.
I also have kies installed on my computer and phone but not sure what I can do with that yet since my phone wont connect.
That's about all I know so far.
Any help is appreciated.
Hm Maybe the drivers? I'm not too sure. Also try a different port and a different cable if you have one.

woooooow... I never thought it could've been the cable but it was!.. Thanks!
I know that there are other threads about this issues but so far the responses are useless.
I have tested the Phone in 3 different computers (1 mac/ 2 win) and nothing.
I have used 3 different usb cables and nothing.
I have all the drivers up to date, latest version of kies. (also, I uninstalled Kies and the drives and nothing)
I have plugged another note 2 to the pc using the same usb cable and it is recognized.
help or advise
Thanks.

Thanks anyway.

I had this issue although I am running linux mint 15 ( ubuntu base) and it wouldnt recognize sd or extsd but I switched from stock rom to jedi x9 and all of a sudden it read everything. No problems since
I dont know why JB had to have junk a mtp crap . That one one of the things I really loved about android was the ability to mount as a mass usb storage device.

Another guy just went through this and found out it was the cable... not exactly which one he used to get everything to work though?
Outside of that or the rare manufacturer defect I'd say it has to do with the root process or with qualcomm usb settings

Solved, but not really
After trying everything possible, i finally gave up and the only option i had left was to send it back to Samsung.
Their response was that there was and internal defect with my device..... they shipped a new one.
If you are having the same issue and it is not the cable take advantage of your warranty.

I understand your pain bro as I also had the same problem. I took some risk while fixing this, the problem started with me while I was in a humid place so I thought maybe the inside got wet. I opened the screws and blew heat in a moderate level. After that it was okay

This has happen to me on my rooted Verizion S3 and the rooted Tmobile Note2. This occurs all the time, it occurred whether it was rooted or not. Try uninstalling and re-installing the drivers.
Havent had this problem before. Flashed an old custom rom from June. And now my computer can't find My device, think im gonna factory reset and try that. ny other suggestion? Have used same usb cable and has always worked.
Since I don't have flashed twrp installer I don't be able to flash anything, or flash stock ROM.

There does seem to be a more frequent mention of port issues (failures) on our phone recently. In my case it was dust impacted in the port that kept the plug from seating fully. But I work in a paper factory so dust is an ever present enemy. Lol
