It's a pitty the large 5.5" screen has so small fonts even at max size (homescreen and drawer), can you use a font resizer app to increase them or it's incompatible with G4?

Need some assistance with a wakelock, WifiOffDelayIfNotUsed. Specifically how to control it.

What exactly would we be limiting here?
I have the same issue. Personally I don't think it's the cause of my battery issues though but I'll rather knock off all the possibilities before standing behind that claim.
I have a feeling yfbc and myself have an awake time that accounts for a good chunk of time. But everything in BBS and WD are saying that things are fine. Best part is that the totals in the wakelock sections don't even add up to the total awake time. Ghost wakelocks ?

LG G4 H811 Kernal 3.10.49 Build LMY47D Software H81110d
Is anyone else having a problem getting their G4 to go into Download Mode?
Mine simply will not do it. It boots into the T-Mobile screen and then the home screen.
(I know how to go into Download Mode. I've owned G2 & G3 with custom ROM's.)
I've even tried other volume/power button combinations, to no avail.

I had issues before too. What you're suppose to do is hold the volume up button ONLY.
And then plug in the USB. You do not touch the power button at all to boot it back up. It should turn on, on it's own after plugging in the USB.

Thanks for your response Spartan268, but that is exactly what I did. I only mentioned the Power button because I also tried that possibility. I had a G2 and a G3 with custom ROM's and custom recovery. So I was aware of the documented method used to go into download mode. But it doesn't work.

This (Energy) Control Widget
This widget is afaik stock. At least it is on my Nexus 5. Haven't found it on my LG G4. I really do like it. How can I copy it? I do have root and Titanium Backup. Now I just need to know the name and back it up & restore, right?
Anyone any idea on the name or how to find out?

What about
Code:
adb shell reboot download
? Something else that I have tried many times and works but you might not be willing to try is using a one-click root method for the LG G3 (on G3 general thread) . It will not root the G4 or affect it in any way but will manage to put the G4 into Download mode.

Haven't been able to delete pictures from my sad card on google photos for a while now, it says "photos doesn't have access to delete item on your SD card. Go to the gallery app to continue deleting"
Any workaround???

Android 5.1 doesn't give user installed apps write access to the SD card, only apps that were pre installed on your phone can write to the SD card. You can give some user installed apps write access through document provider, but not all apps offer this option.
I wonder if we converted user installed apps to system apps in titanium backup if they would then have access to the SD card?

It used to work before, so not sure what happened, probably on google's side I guess? Also yesterday I went and emptied my trash on photos and it let me delete some more pictures. I also remember the app asked me to give it permission to write to the SD card when I installed it.

SDFix in the Play store will grant everything write permission to the SD card. I'm not sold that it's a good idea yet, but I'm using it for now.
Did Google Photos get an update? It may be a problem in Google's end. I've been noticing a lot of their apps are updating frequently.

ive got a ls991 sprint g4 on zv5. on my quick settings ribbon, every time i pull the battery wifi calling shows up and my order is all messed up. its annoying cause i change the battery about twice a day. anybody else seeing this?

Yeah you are gonna need to root and use sdfix from the gooe play store to allow the app full acess to your external microsd card

You have to click manual to get all the settings to show up

I'm pretty much settled on my upgrade being the G4 and I should be able to pick it up on Friday.
I had a play about in an EE store on Monday and one of my niggles is the notification pull down. It's hideous. I like my notification pull down to be pretty discrete and minimalistic.
Is it themable and how configurable is what appears there? Do I have to have sliders for brightness and volume?

You can turn off the brightness and volume sliders. But I don't know of options for theming, etc. At least not on my Verizon model.

[APP] [2.3 and EXTSD 5/13/2011] Disable Media Scanning on Boot & Scan Media on Demand

[APP] [2.3 and EXTSD 5/13/2011] Disable Media Scanning on Boot & Scan Media on Demand
[INTRO]
I noticed a large number of Android users wanted to STOP/DISABLE
the media scan at every boot, but still retain the ability to
Scan Media Files on demand.
My app allows just that.
[EXPLANATION]
The app works by killing/disabling/stopping the media scanner process at boot silently. This saves the total time till the phone is usable by about 20-30 seconds on some devices!
[REQUIREMENTS]
The new v2.3 app works on all android devices!! It even works with internal and external sd cards!
You need to have USB Debugging on. USB debugging,
WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR PHONE OR ANY OTHER APP IN ANY WAY AT ALL.
[QUESTIONS]
Does this app affect my ringtones/songs/apps?
This app cannot harm your phone at all and all your apps/ringtones/songs/* remain unaffected and everything can be undone. There are some rare ROMs that seem to have some issues with the app like ringtones not showing up.
You can fix this by going to Step X in the issues sub-section of this post.
So many versions which one to use for my device?
Everyone can use Rescan Media 2.3.apk
The older versions are there just in case someone needs them.
Why the new interface in v2.2??
People did not like an app that looked messy but functioned well.
The interface is now completely overhauled.
How will I scan for new items if I have disabled the scanner from your app?
When you add new media and the system does not show a change, you can open my app and the scan will take place automatically.
I'm stuck and this is the first time I have opened the app ever.
If for the first time you open my app and the app hangs at any stage, you have to type the following commands either in a terminal or in a adb shell only ONCE EVER. The commands are available to copy/paste in the app itself if you don't want to type/misspell such a complicated command.
Code:
su
pm enable com.android.providers.media/com.android.providers.media.MediaScannerReceiver
Why do you need ROOT?
If you are afraid and ask why I need ROOT permission...
Android does not allow the user to start and stop mission critical services(or at least i believe so from my experimentation). Only ROOT is given such privileges.
My app does only the following two lines of shell code.
Try it if you want to in a terminal emulator or a adb shell, if your are skeptical .
Code:
su
pm disable com.android.providers.media/com.android.providers.media.MediaScannerReceiver
pm enable com.android.providers.media/com.android.providers.media.MediaScannerReceiver
How long should everything take?
The entire process should complete before you can count to 20 Mississippi.
Can i get the app on the market?
Yes you can.
Just search for "Aditya" without the quotes in the Android market. there are two versions. One for Rooted devices and one for Non Rooted devices.
What happens if I uninstall the app after I'm done with it? a.k.a. Step X
If you are done with my app and want to uninstall it or you are facing any issues want to get the phone back to normal, execute the following commands in a terminal emulator or adb shell
Code:
su
pm enable com.android.providers.media/com.android.providers.media.MediaScannerReceiver
Can I use the Non Rooted app in conjunction with the Rooted app?
Simply put No.
Once the media scanner is killed/stopped/disabled by the ROOT app, the non ROOT app will not be able to do anything.
Where can I find you?
If you have any more questions/suggestions/complaints/issues please don't hesitate to contact me here, or at my website or on my facebook. Search for "Aditya Talpade" on google and press I'm feeling lucky.

Neat stuff!. Thank you.
better than Switchpro
I used switchpro widget "reload sdcard", it was the only way to see new imported pictures in gallery, or new music, etc. ( web saved or home filezilla ftp ) but i had the media scanning on start. long and boring process
With your app, and startup manager disabling media scanning, the widget didn't reload new pictures efficiently. Your app did it.
So, a big thanks. Now, it's "on demand". Very good work.
For now you will have to keep usb debugging on our else it won't work.
Nothing ever bad will come of leaving it on.
I suppose most of those that have rooted will have left usb debugging on.
I put usb debugging on all the time coz I need to debug my apps all the time. Also incase my phone goes black or any odd issue arises, I can always use adb.
It's one of the first things I do after flashing roms.
I will sleep on this and try to get a solution soon.
I have noticed that it is not just my app but even all the terminal emulators that fail to enter that pm command even after giving it root permission, if usb debugging is off.

No wonder it wasn't working when I went to work in the morning. Haha. So it was USB debugging issue.
That be abit of a headache since I mount my SD cards to transfer files and use wired tethering. Hopefully the reliance on USB debugging can be resolved someday

USB Debugging does not prevent you from doing any such things.
The only reason you would want it off is because there is a warning whenever you have it on.

I can offer no other explanation other than that by enabling USB Debugging, the app works.
I try entering the command in terminal but it didnt work. It works (or so I thought) is because when I entered the command, USB Debugging was enabled because I was using adb shell to execute. Seemingly it didnt work today because I was travelling around with USB Debugging off.
Strange but true. USB Debugging works.

I see your operator is AT&T. I'm taking a guess here and saying that they must be filtering apps.
No problem. I have attached the apk here in the first post.
Download it and be enjoy.
I have made some progress in the USB debugging issue but it looks bleak.
I will update this thread the instant I solve it.
Just wanted to say thanks. App works great.
Did all what you said and now all my apps are getting FC errors so much so that am unable to use the phone. I guess will have to reflash the firmware. This is very irritating.
just spent 2 hours of my time flashing and resetting my phone. What a waste of time
Thank you for posting this util, very useful indeed.
You must be jokingor your phone must be messed before my app.
My app has no connection whatsoever to the file system hence it is impossible to cause fc's on the phone.
If you can mount your sd card for reading and writing on a desktop this app will run fine.
If you can't mount your sd card for reading and writing on a desktop then you have some problem with your device and should have it checked out.
Don't call an app a waste of time before you check that your device has an issue when everyone here says it works fine.

My device was working perfectly and after i installed this it started to FC all over the place...each and every app FC'd
After that i reflashed and all is well now. So no problem with the phone.
My phone was rooted and had a lag fix running. Check your app with a lag fix.
I did waste a whole lot of time resetting and re configuring my phone.

LG OSP (On Screen Phone) on the Nitro

Soooo......
Has anybody tried this little nifty feature LG has given us? I think it's a neat gem that LG has included on their phones, allowing us to control our phones on the PC via wireless, bluetooth, or usb connections. As you can see in the screenshot, it looks exactly as though you are on your phone, except you control it using the mouse and type using a physical keyboard. This way, you can leave the phone charged somewhere away from the pc, and yet you still can do things on the phone when necessary, or reply text messages or browse through files.
I'm sure there's many more things we can do with this, I just have to research into them Let me know if any of you have been playing around with it.

Something interesting, I can use the feature to control the phone to take pictures remotely. Unfortunately, you cannot see what you are taking a picture off until you actually click on the trigger an a sample is shown to you (first screenshot). Apparently, it doesn't support moving images (like live picture taking, or video recording, or playing videos), but at least for now, you can use it as a remote trigger
And just to show you guys some more screenshots, here it is on the browser.
Oh and btw, the image doesn't do justice to the size of the on screen feature. Of course it is being compressed and resized since it's uploaded here. To give you some sense on how big it is, here is a screenshot of my whole screen (1920x1200) with the program running somewhere in the middle of the screen.
Very interesting. I've never seen that feature on any youtube review, or anything about the Nitro on the net.
The screenshot in your first post, is that how your phone looks like exactly? Is that Go Launcher with ICS theme? What folder app are you using? Thanks!

You can download the pc software here
(If link is still dead, download it from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?ac1a5bj1tg25d2j )
The website is this: http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/LG-P930.jsp under resources, look for On-Screen phone under Downloads. (Apparently, LG has undergone a site reconstruction and in the process removed the link to OSP, so unless they decided to put it back on the site, you will no longer see it there)
Once installed, the program will guide you on how to get it working, but basically, on the phone, you want to go to Setting > Connectivity > On-Screen Phone Settings.
Enable On-Screen Phone and set your password.
This program seems to be a bit finicky at times, and you can lose connection to it and not be able to connect at all for more than a few minutes. I'm sure there will be updates in the future.
aquiariuz,
Your link isn't working for me and I can't find the OSP stuff on the LG website at all. Any other info?
OSP
Anyone using this noticed if it eats up ram or slows down your phone? I am hesitant to try it out.
It looks like LG has pulled the download from their site since you posted the original link. I can't find it anywhere.
I even chatted with an LG rep earlier and they couldn't provide it. Actually, the idiot thought I was asking about a phone update and kept telling me their wasn't an update for the Nitro at this time.
Aquariuz... can you provide the file here?
Just downloaded from this link: LG_OSP2.0_Setup_2.0.05.20111012.exe
22.4mb file
link
Try this csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/MOBILESYNC/GO/QOSP.2.0.08.20120130/LGOnScreenPhone/AutoRun/LGOSP_Setup.exe
Sorry for the late reply guys. Got home really late from work tonight.
So it seems right after I posted the thread, LG decided to revamp their site and changed the whole structure and layout of it. I'm guessing they probably had temporarily removed it from the site and has yet to re-add it back. I don't believe something is wrong with the application itself since actually On Screen Phone software has been around for a while and available on almost all LG phones.
Anyways, since the link is now down, please use the following link, I've uploaded the copy I downloaded:

Mdkrush, like i've mentioned, this is something you use when you do not want to be handling your phone, like when it is charging somewhere across the room, or you'd rather type your sms/IMs using a physical keyboard rather than the touch key, etc. Obviously it will eat up Ram and slows down the phone a bit, that is just normal when you are technically making the phone stream itself onto your computer monitor.
Thanks for the links guys. And thanks for updating Aquariuz. However, I'm not able to get it to detect my phone.
Also, does the phone have to remain unlocked? Or can I lock the phone to avoid having the display drain the battery?
edit: I got it working and learned the hard way that the program is simply a display for the phone. Unfortunately you cannot lock your phone and still use it on the computer. It only shows EXACTLY what your phone is doing. Anyone know of a way around this?
I ask because when I'm working in the field I sometimes use the SlingPlayer app while having the phone on a signal booster. Even with the phone hooked up to a charger it still drains faster than the charger can keep up. I guess it's because of the HD display on this phone? Or maybe there's a problem with the battery/phone?

Do you mean having the phone's screen off while using OSP on the computer? Unfortunately it won't work that way Allstar. When you unlock the phone in OSP, it also awakens the phone. Like u said, it shows exactly what your phone is doing.
My only suggestion is having the brightness on the lowest to conserve energy. It will not affect the brightness on your computer though.
I've thought the same thing about turning the brightness all the way down. Unfortunately the screen still Burns a lot of power.
I wish there was a way to keep apps running and turn the display off.

The only company I know that does that is Nokia lol. I remember having one of their smartphones connected to the computer, and I can almost do everything the phone can do via the computer. It was awesome lol.

from experience working with satnavs (on winmo) that use sd card for map storage, i found that some didn't always work with internal storage on the pdas, luckily most of these you were able to put in an sd card anyways - i suspect some apps may need a bit of development work to support this internal storage (different path names etc)
EDIT: not sure if this will be possible on android - but a fix (sometimes) was to rename the internal storage directory to Storage Card (or whatever the name of the SD card would be) and sometimes this would fool the app into thinking there was actually an sd card there, and would then start working correctly.

It has been like this for months now, I brought for £0.10 druing the Android Market 10 billion download promotion week. Tried on different devices without success. Too lazy to try to get my money back from EA.
Just tried it and got exactly the same problem!! NaN oMB of 0MB! ARSE!

thought i was the only one with this problem. bought it during the 8billion download sale from the then android market.
Is it me or is this stupid?
The launch icon came pre-installed on my phone but it won't let me download the content. I can't delete it either. I might be really anal but I hate clutter. if I can't use it I want rid of it.
guys, finally! able to download the data and I must say this is an awesome gameplay in our One X! Had tried one race already, woohoo.
i'm currently uploading my game data now in mediafire and dropbox, try to download it and see if it will work for you, GOOD LUCK!
EDIT: dropbox link at first post
Thanks, that sorted it for me!

This was a really good help. I tried it also often and thought, i made something wrong. The server seems to be down. And the help is really horrible there.
Thank you very much. I have one problem, i had had also on wp7: After a while playing the screen goes off, if you hadn´t touched it...is there a solution for it? Here it gets dark and i touch it and it´s okay. But other games doesn´t have these problems.

personally i didn't really notice it
maybe the game doesn't cooperate nicely or got conflict somehow with the phone's own screen timeout setting, temporary fix should be to set screen timeout to "never", before playing this game
Thanks for the link fella
It's strange though, because i did copy the data from my Desire onto my 1X, and the game would load up, but go to a grey screen rather than the one where you can pick your first car!?
Ah well... it works fine now, so that'll do.

it could be due to the different screen resolution of the 2 phones

Once you extracted the downloaded zip file, copy paste the whole folder under your /sdcard/Android/data. Just override the existing files there.
After that, reboot your phone. It was there on my instruction in first post.
I hope it will work for you, the game is pretty good in our one x.

I found this link through google. Can any kind soul locate the data I would need for this game, for the Galaxy Note? I get the same error 'Nan 0MB of 0MB' and EA are utterly useless as we all know. I have tried the data from the OP and the game actually starts up but all the menu screens are distorted and when the game starts although I can hear the engine roar, I can't see anything 0_o
If anyone can link me to the data I need for the Galaxy Note, that would be brilliant!

so this app is the beloved one to track your lost device and have it in your sight to make sure no one gets their hands on your loved droid
heres the description as in the google play
Cerberus helps you get back your lost or stolen Android device.
Cerberus is a complete anti-theft application, the best protection you can get to recover your misplaced, lost or stolen Android device. This is a free trial for one week, then you can buy a lifetime license for a small price (2.99€) from within the application: no monthly or yearly fees, just a one-time payment. License is associated to your Cerberus account, if you have multiple devices you can use all of them (up to 5) with the same account.
It has three ways to protect your device:
- Remote control through the website www.cerberusapp.com
- Remote control via text messages
- SIM Checker (for devices that have a SIM card): you will automatically receive alerts if someone uses your phone with an unauthorized SIM card
Remote control allows you to perform many operations on your device, like:
- Locate and track it
- Start a loud alarm, even if the device is set to silent mode
- Wipe the internal memory and the SD card
- Hide Cerberus from the app drawer
- Lock the device with a code
- Record audio from the microphone
- Get a list of last calls sent and received
- Get information about network and operator the device is connected to
- And much more!
Cerberus automatically enables GPS if it is off when you try to localize your device (only on Android < 2.3.3) and you can protect it from unauthorized uninstalling - more info in the app configuration.
The app works even if the device does not have an internet connection thanks to remote control by sms messages. Also, the SIM Checker feature allows you to know the new number to send texts to, if the SIM card is changed. Texts received and sent for Cerberus remote control will not start any notification and will not appear in the Messages application.
Cerberus does not drain the battery because there is no background service running: it will activate only if there is a remote control request and will stop afterwards.
More features for rooted devices: complete uninstall protection (a thief will be able to delete Cerberus only by flashing another ROM), GPS auto-enabling even on Android > 2.3.3. More info on the website in the Help section.
If you already bought SIM Checker Pro you can have Cerberus at a discounted price, contact us for information.

I really loved this on my S2 when I was on Gingerbread, but since upgrading to ICS, it's not worked at all.
It doesn't take pictures on the wrong lock-screen pattern passwords anymore. I've tried reinstalling, and reactivating, but no joy. I'm on 4.0.3, does anyone have any ideas why this is?

This is the first anti-theft that's actually done everything it says it would do for me. Works great on ICS AOKP here and I gladly bought it and recommended it to several other people who did so as well. Great app.
+1
this is the best anti theft app I've used.
My current rom is CM9 (2012-04-11 nightly) and it works perfect. It also worked on Sammy's ICS roms.
I've used phone locator also, which just didn't do what it says it does...
Worth every penny!

if your phone is rooted then this app will have su rights so you cant delete or uninstall a app which is devices admin in android.....the app will remain as a system which can only be deleted if anyone formats the system and installs a new rom
Then will need to root my phone first, could you provide the link for the same.

You just flash a new rom in airplane mode and the phone can be used normally.
if you flash it through cwm, it cannot be uninstalled. also, since the app can be fully hidden, most people would not even suspect the app to be installed. and how many people do you think are capable of flashing another rom and fully wiping the phone?
most regular phone users don't even update their phone through kies and people who get their hand on the phone and have no idea about android at all certainly would never get the idea.
they would be too stupid to get over pattern lock in the first place, and by then, you will have their picture, their location and have sound recorded of them, which should be enough for the police to get your phone back.
for the meantime lock the device down completely and/or wipe it and even if the device is not connected to the internet, just with gsm signal you can still fully control it through sms. if you are still not able to get it back, get the imei blocked and the phone will be useless to any thief.
in any way, i love cerberus and never felt safer with my sgs2.

Samsung's Good Lock

Pros: You can almost get it looking like stock android (which is why i'm keeping it), Notification layout is nice.
Cons: Battery dies faster, Widgets/Apps Tray layouts are useless for me. Recent apps layout is worse.
http://imgur.com/a/WpoXB
Tried it......for 5 minutes i prefer being able to use samsung themes like 'blue and black AMOLED' theme. Good Lock does not have a black option in routine options
Hmm . I like it more. Haven't had any battery is issues yet.
Only issue i encountered is it doesnt easily explain Uninstall.
1. You can just drag drop the Icon from the AD to uninstall and
2. You cannot find the app in Applications to Uninstall
3. You have to go to settings and uninstall from there.
4. Once you uninstall, remember to Restart your device as soon as possible.
5. If not restarted, your power button would stop working and the only way to get it back is by a Hard Reboot (Power + Volume Down).
Hope this helps people looking in to this.
Other than that, had no Battery Drain Issues and it worked fluidly. Did find the "Ignore Repetitive Notification" that I dismiss without looking in messages Annoying and sadly, if by mistake I did say so for specific ones (Work Email and Whatsapp), it stopped showing the message notification all together.

Sorry, forgot the * on that. It was mostly visual. Coming from the S6e, the S7e is substantially better due to the much bigger battery, but with a Wireless charger at work, didn't see "major" drain issues.
Although, when the Power Button stopped working yesterday, I almost called Tmo and thought of returning before the Hardboot fix, as this is a System UI App.
Just wondering, did you have AOD on? I did have that off. Doubt it would make a difference, but the Good Lock is a Lock Screen, and since my Nexus 1 days, I remember them always being a Drain.
They just posted a new version and they took care of most of original people complaints, the only thing missing for me right now is the Quick Connect feature that it seems that the only way to get access to it is via Original Notification shade. If the fix this, for me will be a keeper, for sure, I've been keeping it expecting for an update and now I can say that they are 90% where they should be with this.
In general, a very good update.

I use this as well for my Samsung 4K TV! I actually find myself using it more and more lately. I've run around the house a lot while watching a program and being able to send it to my phone to view while I'm in another room is great! I recently was watching a friend playing a game on his TV, I did a quick connect while I was sitting on his patio with another friend, and was able to keep up with the story-line while on his patio. What's weird is that I didn't get any lag using quick connect but when I tried a simple screen mirror i got lag as well as quality downgrade that was very noticeable.

That's weird. I just updated to the latest version and it's been really smooth with no issues that was there with the previous releases. Maybe try the typical uninstall reboot reinstall? Or if you disabled some apps that could be causing some instability.

Yeah, I installed the first version of Good Lock and it was fine. Uninstalled it shortly after until the next update.
There is no way to uninstall the app from the Galaxy Apps store; the only option is to update it. My Apps does not show Good Lock as installed. I've tried clearing cache, re-enabling all my disabled apps, rebooting several times without much success. I am not the only apparently as several others are having the issue and posting about it on reddit. Hopefully this can be fixed with an update. Don't really want to factory reset to get Good Lock working.
I have no issues uninstalling from my device. I just go to the app drawer tap on the icon and it gives me the option to uninstall. I see what you mean by not being able to delete from Galaxy Apps though
