It works on my card reader built into my notebook.

I'll take your word on that. I will have to look at my sdcard later.
Strange because my sdcard increased in size when I formatted.
Just looked.
No ext partition.
Maybe its different on different roms.

This sentence contradicts from itself. Do you want only a FAT32-partition or a FAT32-partition plus an EXT4-partition?

yes you are right. I wanted FAT32-partition plus an EXT4-partition. And also i did it with writing configuration tab. Thanks for your answer.
I rooted my desire 816 [still running the stock rom] and I wanted to try link2sd so I partitioned my SD card and created an ext4 primary partition.. opened link2sd app, installed mount scripts and restarted the phone but the ext partition is still unmounted.. tried ext2 but ended up with the same result!
searched a lot but found so many confusing topics that got me more confused!
what should I do to get the ext partition to be mounted on boot?!
also is app2ext better than link2sd? if so, then how to install it too?
thank you guys in advance..

Check this video.

The video maker Potent Technologies has a .zip file available from kinghunki that automatically adds the wp_mod.ko file and the permissions on boot with one flashable zip via custom recovery.

Thanks! but I think the zip file is for enabling SD card write permissions only..
my problem is that the EXT partition I created doesn't mount on boot and I don't know how to enable that since I'm on stock rom not a custom one..
I am having the same problem. I even flashed that zip but It didn't help.
I had read somewhere that the Exp partition size should be 20% of the microSD card size at most. is it relevant here?
I've also made a Linux swap. the order of my partitions is :
1. fat 32 :15 GB primary, Active
2. Ext4 :now 5 GB primary (It would fail mount with Ext3)
3. Linux Swap : 1.5 GB

that zip is for re-enabling writing permissions on SD card which is disabled in KitKat by default.
------
you don't need that much for the ext partition.. it should be no more than 20% of the SD card size.
I guess you made the ext this size because of games, right? you should use foldermount instead.. It's AWESOME!!

I have a stock rom and I don't intend to flash any custom rom but a stable lollipop rom.

I have no problems with partitioning my SD card at all, my problem is how to add "Init.d" support in my stock rom to be able to mount my ext partition at boot.

I need support for large (10+GB) files, but can't get exFAT or ext2/4 formatted sdcards working on my P8000.
I generally prefer to use exFAT for mac/windows/linux interoperability, but I guess the default kernel has no support for it. Ext2/4 gives the error 'Damaged SD card' and reformats with FAT32.
Any way to currently do this? Am I missing something obvious?
need to write module (exFAT or NTFS) for kernel
I also asked this question, no one helped
no program does not work, I tried everything
Bummer. I was afraid of that.
Thanks for the info.
I have my sdcard as two partitions, a FAT32 partition visible to the phone and an EXT4 partition to use link2sd for moving apps from the phone memory which is not visible to the phone. I am not sure whether there is an application that lets you use files as you wish to by saving to the EXT4 partition.

Did the same two partitions on my sdcard. FAT32 and EXT4 both are working. The P8000 is able to handle EXT4 partitions but i don't now, how big these partitions can be.
Perhaps in Android 6 add this
Of course it is still not known

The slot seems to be very sensitive.
I've need to try it several times, to insert the card "correctly".
So don't give up...remove the card and insert it again...try reboots and so on...

Try exFat.
Sorry you said you tried that. Would if you would reformat the whole card and recreate the partition. And by the way, the android system uses ext4(the app partition). Don't know if it makes a difference though.
