[need help in rooting] - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello i have samsung galaxy tab 3 neo and i want to root it. Shud i root it or not? I mean is there any thing worst after rooting like hanging the tab etc etc..

Mine was Knoxed when i got it, it's easy enough to restore your default operating system with Odin. But I'm not familiar with your exact model, so I would be careful and see what other people say too.

I recommend you to install TWRP through Odin. Just backup your system, EFS and data if you have a lot of storage. If your device goes totally cuckoo-bazooka then just restore with the package that you backedup. Q.E.D(i don't know what that means by the way)

Just bought new epic

I just bought a new epic and received it in the mail. I want to root it because ive rooted every other phone ive owned. I see something that sprint just came out with new update yesterday or the day before. Whats the best way to root it?. Should i activate it first then root or root before i activate?
If it were me I'd activate, update profile and prl then root and rom it...
Enjoy...
There is a How to that you can use to flash the rooted version of the update.
I don't think it matters if you activate.
Why not activate it and start enjoying the phone while you figure it out?
thanks guys whats the easiest way to root?

The new root is much better as it doesnt trigger the yellow triangle....

You dont have to download additional apps just the root tool. It will root your current setup so nothing really changes besides adding root. Just select option a then option c and your done.

[Q] Lost EFS data Need Galaxy Note II from shoppingsquare.com.au Owner

Hello Friends,
I am in big problem at the moment. I flashed new roms (geek will know it)couple of times. But since last week my phone does not recognise my sim card or get any network and its IMEI also got currupted and I don't have backup of my EFS folder. I found out that the it may restore it to normal by installing factory stock rom. But for that I need somebody who have got Samsung Galaxy Note II from shoppingsquare.com.au in last October to March. So that i can download appropriate country's stock rom as it is grey import phone.
I need below firmware info, which you can get in Settings and About device
Baseband Version
Build Number
Thanks in advanced.

Okay so kinda a stupid question but I am looking to both root my Tab Pro 8.4 and install TWRP. My issue is that I have not seen any threads about rooting or installing TWRP on the Tab Pro 8.4. I am a bit worried about bricking it a bit. So I was anyone has done this, and if there are any suggestions. I normally see a thread about this before, but didn't see one for this tablet

unlocking samsung sm-s320vl

i bought one of the straight talk samsung galaxy j3 phones from walmart on black friday for $50 thinking i was going to use it on my tmobile account. i have been scouring the net trying to find a recovery image or an app that can root or unlock this phone and have had no success. ive tried the usual stuff, kingroot etc, and the stuff that is out for other models of the j3 dosent work either (j320a j320fn, etc) i really cant even seem to find and real info on the phone which is weird because i dont think the phone is even that new. does anyone have any info on this or can point me in the right direction? even info on how to force, (or trick ) straight talk into unlocking it would be acceptable.
thanks!

I may have a root method. There is a SuperSu zip that is supposed to root when flashed with Odin. I can't find a custom recovery yet though and this is my main phone, though I could switch over to an old Droid Bionic I recently rebuilt.

Sure I dont mind to share, it was super simple. I don't remember the exact link but I used the Crom Services.apk and if I remember correctly it was the version for the galaxy s6

I did do something very similar, or kind of similar recently. After installing Lineage 14.1 in order to get root you have to flash a superSu zip. However this was on an S5 so I'm not sure if it would work on this model. I wish I wouldn't have lost my J, I may be able to help more. However for less than these phones cost, you can have an S5 or S6 (occasionally I even run into S7s for under 100. Even a 2 or 3 year old flagship is far above these vl series. (and they're easy to root plus have tons of custom ROMs, mods etc.)

Attempting to get VZW Note 4 to Kitkat

Hello XDA! First post here and I’ve been reading a lot since I got my phone. I seem to have found a solution, (maybe), but I'm not clear on a few vital things.
A little back story… my dad just gave me his Verizon Note 4. It was on Marshmallow, but has since been downgraded to Lollipop 5.1.1, N910VVRU2BPA1. From what I understand it still has the locked MM bootloader (?).
I’m planning to root the phone, but only if I can further downgrade it to Kitkat 4.4.4. I’ve read through the thread “Stabilized process used to unlock Bootloader” and it seems it should unlock the bootloader. However, I’ll end up with a “Developer Edition” phone. This leads to my questions…
1) Once successfully rooted and the bootloader is unlocked, will I be able to downgrade the phone to Kitkat by just flashing the firmware in Odin? I really don’t care if I lose root, I just want Kitkat on the phone.
2) Can I just flash the “retail” version of Kitkat from Sammobile or do I need a “developer edition” Kitkat (if there even is one)?
3) Can someone advise me if what I imagine might be possible is even doable?
Any help is greatly appreciated! I’m new to this so if these are just funky questions, please excuse. Lots to learn! Thanks so much!!!
A little help please!
Someone must know this.
Can I or can't I flash the "retail" Kitkat firmware onto a "supposed" Dev Edition rooted to unlock the bootloader?
I hope someone can clarify this before I do something stupid!
Thanks!

Thanks, but I don't need help doing it, I just need someone to answer the questions so I don't mess up the phone.
Yes you can, make sure to unlock bootloader first. But when you flash you will loose bootloader unlock. I have a guide where I could use the lollipop bootloader and use kitkat. I really love kitkat and with root you have lots of potential for battery savings and more!
---------- Post added at 08:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:32 PM ----------
If you would like to downgrade the bootloader add a twrp custom recovery and use the kitkst method I have and you can have the best phone, I also would recommend you buying a zerolemon battery and case.
But if you do just want to have full stock and have all the bloat ware on it you can like you stated unlock the bootloader and then flash the retail kitkat and your all set and downgraded

Thank you very much for responding! I very much appreciate it!
I don't care to keep root and just want the phone on Kitkat. In the future I may decide to root it and play around with roms and such, but not right now. I can now go ahead and attempt it with confidence. I'll let you know how it goes!
Thanks again! :good:
Well, tried all kinds of stuff and it was a no go.
Was able to get the phone rooted finally... had to use KingOroot. Kingroot failed to work no matter how many versions I tried. Once rooted, checked download mode and it indicated Developer. However, I was unable to install retail KK or KK stock restore in Odin 3.10 and 3.09. Since the flash failed, putting it into recovery ended up in an error about "Software update failed"... use a PC, blah, blah, blah. Wouldn't let me go anywhere in recovery.
Decided to try flashing LP 5.1.1 back to the phone and it flashed ok in Odin 3.09. Phone is back up, but lost root, (expected), and I'm back again at square 1. At least the phone isn't bricked! LOL!
Maybe the problem is that this phone has an MM bootloader so eventhough it's unlocked, you can't flash KK to it? Don't know, but I guess I'm back to trying to find this out.
Good experience so far eventhough this attempt didn't get me anywhere! Well... at least I know how to root it and unlock the bootloader!
