Hi,
Is there any option, hacks, settings or customised rom or something for second sim card's 2G connection (it says supports edge connection) ?
Second sim does not support any data connection only 2g calls, only sim 1 supports data enabled
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using Tapatalk
Second sim surely can support data but will need some deep hack because you will first enable modem to allow data connection and second at OS level some tweaks.
Thanks for your suggestions but anything else?
There must be a real solution, i'm gonna search deeply about this.
Thanks anyway
For those who have it, is it possible on the dual sim version that when one SIM is on LTE voice/data, can SIM 2 have voice on 3G? I have 2 SIMs with the same company but the company doesn't have a 2G network only 3G/4G LTE.

yes in the settings you can assign each sim to do any function exclusively.
SO to confirm, SIM 1 can be on 4G and SIM 2 can be on 3G? Can you take a screen shot of the menu? Thanks

The phone will use whatever the carrier gives you access to. If for whatever reason SIM 1 gets 4G and SIM 2 only gets 3G, then that's what the phone will get. The sim card looks to your phone carrier and signal availability to determine what service is provided to the phone.
If you also want to limit it to only go as high as 3G, I believe there is also an option for that. I have a Dual SIM Z5 with only one SIM atm. So pictures from my phone are going to be useless for you. But the pathway is as follows:
Settings\Dual Sim settings\Sim card for data Traffic.
hope this helps
I have a Note 5 Dual sim and when SIM 1 is 4G, the second one only has 2G as an option. You wouldn't happen to have another SIM you can throw in and see if sim 1 can be 4g and sim 2 can go to 3g? Preferably the second sim would be either Bell or Telus since they have no 2G network. I really appreciate it. Don't want to buy another 900$ phone to find out that it won't work.
Thanks

Unfortunately I don't have another one. The Z5 uses a micro sim and I don't know many people with one. You're likely able to call up Sony's sales line and have them ask a tech who does know for sure though. If you do, please report back with what you find so this might benefit another person in your same situation!
Good luck!
It won't work, I just looked up the user manual:
Selecting mobile networks
Your device supports the use of two different networks at the same time. You can
select from the following network mode combinations when two SIM cards are
inserted in your device:
• One LTE network and one GSM network
• One WCDMA network and one GSM network
• Two GSM networks
For each SIM card, you can set your device to switch automatically between mobile
networks depending on which mobile networks are available where you are. You can
also manually set your device to use a particular mobile network mode for each SIM
card, for example, WCDMA or GSM.
Different status icons are displayed in the status bar depending on the type or mode
of network that you are connected to. Refer to Status icon on page 35 to see what
the different status icons look like.
Thanks for your help. I'm out of luck...

And that is exactly the case.
One sim is 4G/3G and the other only 2G.
If in the mobile network settings you try to switch SIM 2 from GSM to 3G or 4G you get a notification that SIM 1 will switch to GSM and that SIM 2 will be data traffic SIM card.
I have Z5 Premium Dual and if I set SIM 1 as 4G or WCDMA (3G), SIM 2 will be 2G only. If I set SIM 2 to be 4G or WCDMA, SIM 1 will be 2G only.
You can not set to WCDMA for both or 4G for both slots. But you can set to 2G for both slot, only it's useless to you.
The combination for SIM 1 and SIM 2 is:
- 4G preferred and 2G only
- WCDMA preferred and 2G only
- WCDMA only and 2G only
- 2G only and 2G only
- 2G only and WCDMA only
- 2G only and WCDMA prefered
- 2G only and 4G prefered
So if your carrier do noth have 2G, it's better you use as single SIM or find another dual SIM phone that support 3G on both slots.
I add a last detail to this useful discussion:
You can set mobile data both in the 4G SIM or in the 2G SIM, doesn't matter. You can use voice calls on 4G SIM 1 and keep 2G SIM 2 for data and voice.
I have a dual SIM Z5 premium:
The worst bit is not the fact that only one SIM can have 4G at a time, which seems not to be a problem to most people. The real issue is not even the fact that I have 2 4G Sims and changing from one to another takes many seconds, in which it goes into no signal. The real issue is that when you are at a call in the none-internet assigned SIM, the other internet SIM stops working and you lose your internet connection. The only way to maintain your internet connection is in the only case that the phone call is been made by the same SIM that is currently giving the internet. And no, you cannot change in the middle of a call, since changing disables both Sims for to many seconds and the call would be hanged.
Please if any other user has found a way around this, beside connecting to Wi-Fi, please tell
Run Data Service on one Sim

Yes it is possible that you can use LTE and 3G sim in your Sony Z5. Even it is also possible that you can use LTE sim in both sim ports in all Sony Z series phones. But there is one condition that you have to run data access only from one sim. You will be not able to run data service on both sim cards. You can do this by going to settings option and set your one sim card for call/messages and another for data service only. Check Sony Xperia Z5 Manual- guideusermanual.com/product-name-xperia-z5-manual&po=570042&lang=English for details.
Is there any way to enable individual sim settings
SIM 1 -2G
SIM2 -4G
Now we have only one settings.Any Help to enable in OxygenOS????
Make SIM 1 default for data, change network to 2G.
Make SIM 2 default and change network to 4G.
Done.
(you can also change network of SIM 1 from the testing menu *#*#4636#*#*)
I hope someone can help to answer the following query as I can't seem to get any information / confirmation on it's dual SIM functionality. As some of you may now, some countries has discontinue in offering 2G connectivity.
On the Honor 8 Pro dual SIM, does it function as ;
A) if SIM1 is selected as default data line on 4g/3g - can SIM2 run simultaneously on 3g (non-data)? Or,
B) if SIM1 is selected as default data line on 4g/3g - will SIM2 run simultaneously on 2g only (non-data)?
Noted they are dual stand-by. My question it's on the band connectivity for the none default data line.
Hope to get some guidance

I strongly think it's B because that's how the network with Honor 8 works.
A) is true! But B) doesn't allow you to be based only on 2g, it switches between 3g 2g
Also if you select mobile data default sim as 2, then it will be switched to 4g network and if your sim 1 is 4g only, it will be withering around with no network

I also facing the same problem.I have 2 sims one Jio and one BSNL.I Jio as SIM1 and BSNL as SIM2.In my area for BSNL both 2g and 3g are available but 3g has less strength. So it switches between 3g ang 2g.My battery drains fastly
Hello all. I wonder if you can give me some clarity. The Zuk Z2 Plus is a Dual Sim Dual Standy phone. So my understanding after reading up on it is that only one sim can actually be active at any given moment when in use. So I have Sim 2 setup as my mobile data LTE connection and my Sim 1 is not being used for data.
Lineage OS has a feature where when I go into Sim 1 settings, it has a option "Data During Calls". Volte does not work on my phone, so that means when I get a call on Sim 2, the signal drops to 3G mode and data dies. But seeing that on Dual Standy phones when you are on a call on the one sim, the other one is also inactive because the phone only has one transceiver, the "Data During Calls" on Sim 1 wont work either, correct?
