Best way to unroot - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Sorry guys, I know there is a ton of info out there about this but I am about to sell my Note 3 and I'd like to unroot it and make it completely stock. I've seen stuff to flash the new firmware but I'm not sure if that makes it completely stock. I want whoever buys to be able to get OTA updates and such.
Any help would be appreciated.
I had Superuser on it and I went to full unroot but got stuck in something funky now SU doesn't show up and I fear I'll get myself into something a little more fuzzy if I keep messing with it.
Thanks

Make it completely stock? Easy, download stock ROM and flash.

Lost about root and update.

SO I did some Odin stuff a while ago to get root, that is all I did. It didn't wipe my phone or anything and I didn't do CWM, so I think right now I am just stock with root.
From what I am reading, since I am rooted I will not get the OTA, which is fine. But I get lost in the dev section. I just want the base OS (don't know the diff between odexed or de-odexed) and root.
I do get LOS every now and then, so I am hoping the update will fix that. So I am not sure what I need to do.
Much appreciated if someone with more brain power could point me in the right direction.

Do Official OTA Updates and Factory Resets Work After Rooting?

Maybe someone can throw a new guy a bone here? ....
One thing I had on my jailbroken iPhone was free tethering. My Xfinity went down the other day and I realized I couldn't tether my new Android without paying AT$T. So from what I understand, like the iPhone I need to root it and then download a third party tethering app?
If I root now, I'll probably be tempted to give Black Jelly or Frost ROMs a try. I know with this 'Odin' program or 'Nandroid' backup with CWP (still figuring all this out) I can switch between ROMS pretty easily. It takes me about an hour though to download all my apps and reconfig my phone after a reset though. I think Titanium backup or something solves this, but seems to me using something like that with custom ROM, as opposed to a 'clean' install and just start installing/configuring from scratch may pose higher risk of having issues?
So my question is, if I root and install custom ROM, how hard is it to get the official update installed, or any more official future updates installed if I decide I don't want to stay on a custom ROM?
Being an experimental person and my first time to Android, I'm sure I'm going to eventually cave (for sure root) and try a custom ROM. I see SO many posts though in these ROM forums with all sorts of little issues. I want to go back to stock and get official updates if I need to.
When the official jb drops there will most likely be some debloated version on here in a day or so. If you're rooted with a custom recovery it will take no time to install. I would also seriously consider titanium backup, it makes the process much easier.

There are two issues you mention: 1) Having a custom ROM and doing an Custom OTA, and 2) OTA with stock ROM and after you you have rooted your phone.
Stock ROM and OTA after Rooting
In times past, there have been vendors that look for rooting and refused to OTA the phone. Citing it violated warantee, contract, whatever. AT&T use to do it, but with current ROMs, especially with the S3, they simply turn off the SUID bit on /system/xbin/su during the update.(They turn off the Root modification, of sorts). The current OTA of 4.0.4 does this trick. Making near impossible to root afterwards.
Usually it is always best to flash back to stock to insure you get a clean OTA.
Some versions of rooting will allow you to keep root even after OTA, but I would not count on it.
The other issue that some forget is any modification to the ROM may trip a counter which may cause OTA's to fail. In the S3 there is a counter on how many times the ROM has been flashed by custom software. Once it is tripped, any warantee you have on the device is voided. You can see the information when you set your phone into flash mode.
There are programs to reset the counter, and other methods, but it gets pretty ugly and you can hard brick your phone in some cases. Just use them with care.
Custom ROM and OTA after Rooting
With custom ROM's rooting is the norm. OTA's will usually not affect them. In fact some OTA's will include updated 'su' programs. There are some custom ROM's that are not able to OTA.
So it sounds to me like if I plan on rooting to get the free tethering, I should always wait until there's a stock ROM available here and manually install it? That way, I don't lose my root and I don't increase the counter unnecessarily?
Thanks for your help.

[Q] Stock Recovery?

Hey.
Sorry for yet another likely dumb question, but I was wondering if there was a way to return to the stock recovery and remove superuser? Until things get more stable I'd like to basically return to stock but leave the bootloader unlocked.
I don't want to accidentally mess things up more than they might be already.
If there's also a way to return completely to stock, bootloader included, that would be useful as well. Since a large portion of the community seems to have been locked out for the meantime, I don't mind being stuck with stock for awhile. I might even potentially be willing to switch with someone who doesn't have their bootloader unlocked, but that's something I'll consider later.

I have a GalaxyS6 Sprint 5.1.1 G920PVPU2BOFE And I Want To Root It. Yes Or No?

I really want to root it. i love having the ability to do what i want with my phone and all the fun stuff rooting brings with it self. I want your opinions? If you guys can supply me with links and etc like a stock firmware so just in case i want to unroot and etc. I can't find any for my version which is G920PVPU2BOFE. Also Is There a CWM or TWERP? Well if you guys could help that would be great.
Also are there any good and stable roots for my phones version? I was reading around and found one that had something to do about flashing a new kernel and doing that it didn't let the user use private mode and a few other things. I'm not sure if i should wait it out. I have looked around a lot but couldn't find much about rooting my phones current software version.
Well, for me i dont know too much for running Xposed just yet but im trying to see if theirs any guides for this phone.
But for me to completely UNROOT it,is to flash the stock Rom OF7 tar with Odin....it actually fixed a soft bootloop or softbrick i had.

So i was skeptical just like you and well I rooted my phone pretty good advantages havent tinkered much yet but i decided to might as well flash a recovery since im rooted and voided my warrenty. so the only thing available was TWRP which can be found in the forums.
I downloaded a custom rom known as Twisted Projects its mainly stock with just extra features to it
BUT my mistake was that i didnt select Unlock BootLoader OEM before i restarted it becaused it said to update supersu since its outdated on the custom rom i guess. And well in which resulted for me to get a custom binary lock F R P. and i couldnt get to recovery only download mode, and then flashing OF7 tar and i got myself back to normal. And rooted it again, still debating to go to it again. but thats an FYI ake sure to select Developer options, Usb Debugging, and OEM Unlock before doing anything.

Thanks for everything yo. Only Thing Holding Me Back Is My Phone Is leased but i herd sprint doesn't really care much. I'd just have to flash it back to normal and this brings me to my next question. I See Theres stock firmwares for OF7 and none for OFE and if i where to soft brick my phone can i flash the OF7 firmware on it with no problem? because i herd something about we can't go to previous versions and etc. Also another question do you notice any things that aren't working out so well on the root since we have to flash it as a new kernal. I herd some battery drain issues and over heating and some stuff like that. They where rare cases but just wondering And on the root of my phone i download the OFE kernal from the link you provided and flash it through odin and then im rooted correct? i am a little skeptical on rooting again cause its a more expensive phone and i wouldn't want to mess up haha.

No i did not sadly. I updated it on accident and now i'm on G920PVPU2BOH1 5.1.1 and i really want to root it lmao. I'm just waiting but no luck and no root. Also im leased so i don't know if its worth it. I herd sprint is layed back on it and if i reset it it'll be fine but at the same time i don't know.

Really? Link? Well thats good. But is it worth it at the moment? like i herd private mode and a few other things get disabled. I mean is there any downsides? i used to be rooted and loved it but my old phone (GS3) was purchased regularly. This phone i'm currently leasing it. So is there any downsides to that as well? Sorry for being so skeptical lmao It's a new phone and don't want nothing to go bad on it :good:

I do not use private mode but there is a work around for it. Unikernel plus TWRP will trip the Knox counter and as of now Samsung Pay wont work. Other than that root is always worth it. Working Xposed, Viper, Adaway, etc! Here is the Unikernel for Sprint: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/development/kernel-unikernel-v5-t3166295

Thats super dope and its good to hear xposed is still working for it as well. Do you think the company would care if i root it? and then put it back to stock after my two years are up? i have warranty on it so thats the only downside since its leased and something goes bad thats 700 dollars lmao but i doubt anything would go wrong. I've herd several cases where people would send their phones back with knox tripped and gotten them fixed no problem. Thanks for the link btw now its all up to the decision aha. Also thanks for replying back so quick

The counter can be reset with the proper equipment anyways.

Has this been documented? Everything I have seen says that we haven't figured out how to do this (although it's probably possible).

How to return to full Stock

Hey everyone. I'm moving on to a new device, and I want to provision this Note 4 so my daughter can use it. Obviously however, I don't want to hand her a rooted phone.
Is there a guide on how to return a rooted Verizon Note 4 (currently 5.1.1) back to full stock? I can't seem to find one.
If there isn't a guide, can you tell me what steps need to be done? Will taking the OTA that I've blocked restore it back to stock? I think I know what steps in theory, but not seeing some explicit steps laid out has me wanting to make sure I understand what needs to be done before I attempt this.
I want the boot loader locked as well, with the custom boot screen gone, though I suppose that goes without saying.
Please help, and thanks!
Just odin whatever android version you want on the phone. Just make sure the file is your carrier specific.

Or you could just download kies and do a factory reset

I just uploaded the newest update if you would like to flash it with Odin. Just unzip, flash it in the AP slot and then do a factory reset. Download in the link below.
