Read around the forums a bit. You can't root via odin on this device. That's the developer edition cf-autoroot, not for retail. If you bought your phone from verizon you had retail. Also you may achieve temp root only if you are on a 4.4.4 build. So you would need to downgrade (search the forum). Lollipop root doesn't exist for us. Also note that any chances you make with root will be reverted on a reboot, as well as resulting in root access lost.

Hi,
Since updating to 4.3 (biggest mistake I've made), I've been looking for root methods or a way to downgrade back to 4.1.2. I tried the De La Vega Root method but that didn't end up working out. I heard Kingo and VROOT are malicious. I was going to try the CF Auto Root Method but I don't want to trip my Knox Counter because I've heard I won't get any future updates if I do so. What methods are available to root my phone or downgrade it back to 4.1.2?
Phone: Galaxy S3 (SGH-i747M on Rogers Wireless)
Baseband Version: I747MVLUEMK5
Build Number: JSS15J.I747MVLUEMK5
I think I have the same problem as you. But are you unable to get further updates if you remove knox?

As of now, trying to downgrade will brick your phone. Rooting thus far will most likely trip counter. For now, there is nothing you can do but ride out and hope there is a solution. I would not try anything further until something is confirmed to be working. You are taking a chance on bricking your device otherwise.
Flash TWRP via odin (newest one). When rebooting from the recovery screen, accept to install root. Once you boot the phone, install the SuperSU via TWRP and the phone will reboot. Once booted up again, open SuperSU and you'll receive a prompt to remove KNOX, click yes. You're done.
Thx for advice

Has this been tested to not trip knox counter?
From everything I have read, the Knox counter will be tripped.
From Chainfire re i9505 (https://plus.google.com/+Chainfire/posts/ZKuMQ3fNzuN):
Knox Warranty on new I9505 ROMs
As I've stated before, my dev version of Triangle Away is currently operational (though not yet released) for the flash counter and binary status with the new Knox I9505 ROMs.
If you have an I9505 you've probably noticed the new Knox Warranty status in the bootloader, and I know some of you are hoping Triangle Away will reset that.
Unfortunately, that's unlikely. I've taken a look around, I've disassembled the bootloader, etc, and it looks like an efuse might be involved ( == not resetable ). I'm not exactly sure what triggers it yet either.
Mind you, I'm not a bootloader expert nor have I spent hours and hours digging through it, so there's a chance this information might turn out to be wrong later - but that's what it currently looks like to me.
If you were on 4.11 or 4.1.2, you would not have knox on your phone and rooting would not be a problem. You would just need to reset the flash counter for warranty purposes.

Dude you have to try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
I was experiencing the same issue, but I used this method to root my telus s3 i747m on 4.3. Since you claim that you are on rogers download the 4.3 rogers root file and flash it via odin.
Here's a root method that allows you to keep knox. I haven't tried it out myself but I know that the no knox version works perfectly.

So did you solve you're problem?
I'm curious if anyone has any success with this method...
using saferoot
http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2013/12/Safe-Root-Android-4.3-Galaxy-S3-S4-Note-No-Warranty-Void.html
and if so, did they install
safestrap via this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448942)
or
other recovery programs?
So, I updated my phone to the lollipop 5.0.1. Horrible decision on my part.
I should've researched it more before hand. But what is done is done.
Wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction on how to root.
what all needs to be done before rooting, after rooting ect. More so, if
anyone can do a step by step process. Im a total noob and don't want to
mess up.
Main reason for rooting now is because I can't file transfer from note 4
to laptop anymore and open files that I downloaded.
Sprint samsung note 4 lollipop 5.0.1.
use TWRP tar file with odin
use TWRP tar file with odin then install supersu zip file with TWRP.....its worked fine for me....

Do this first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/general/stock-n910pvpu1anie-stock-tar-t2944867
to ensure a fresh starting point.
Then just odin cf-autoroot for NK2 for the SM-N910P (sprint note 4) should be an easy search. After that you are rooted and good to go.
Thank you, I will try it out first thing tomorrow.

I'm in the same boat however even odin doesn't detect my phone. When plugged in all it does is charge
Edit: Okay after messing around for over an hour what i ended up doing was a couple things
1. I booted into recover and cleared cache 3x
2. Plugged the phone in opened kies and then it found the device and installed a different driver called MSM8960

Why I asked is, chainfires page only shows NIE, not the NK2 for sprint note 4 you speak of.

Not Possible
You could try Kingroot. I believe there is a method on 4.4.4 so you could also flash backwith the correct stock Verizon ROM and ODIN and go from there. Link is posted below to the firmware for the SM-N910V.

If VZW Note 4 got to 5.0.1 via an OTA update there is no going back to 4.4.4. Furthermore Kingroot only yields temporary root on 4.4.4 and it's extremely limited in it's usefulness. So short answer, no root unless you have the Development Edition Note 4 on Verizon.
IV recently moved to a Nexus 6 but want to root my old note 3 and install a newer ROM. Which guide do I follow for the baseband and Android 5.0? It's been updated to the lastest version OTA. Thanks everyone

DISCLAIMER: This is gonna void the hell out of your warranty, etc etc
I used Odin to flash TWRP and then used TWRP to install SuperSU. Note: If you're gonna do that, be sure to boot to TWRP immediately after you install it (home+vol-up) when Odin reboots it, then immediately install the SuperSU zip, otherwise it has a tendency to uninstall TWRP on you as soon as it boots into the system. NOTE: If you do this, it will for some reason break your Back button. You can flash idleKernel to fix that.
Flashing SuperSU should disable KNOX. FYI, ROMs for most Note versions will work on the canadian version/N900W8/hltecan. I've installed N9005 and N900T ROMs with no issues, just be aware you might lose NFC.
Hey guys - I'm running a Verizon Note 4 converted to the dev edition (rooted running CM13). My company has made the option available finally to run Mobile Iron on NON-rooted devices only - since I'm tired of running this Windows phone/Nokia Lumia 635... Its time to go back to stock on my Note 4.
Is it possible to go back to stock Verizon 6.0.1 UNrooted? I know I can flash the Verizon firmware through Odin, but not sure how the conversion to dev edition will take it...
Any help that you guys can provide would be great, thanks!
you lose root when you flash back to stock
