Hey guys - I'm running a Verizon Note 4 converted to the dev edition (rooted running CM13). My company has made the option available finally to run Mobile Iron on NON-rooted devices only - since I'm tired of running this Windows phone/Nokia Lumia 635... Its time to go back to stock on my Note 4.
Is it possible to go back to stock Verizon 6.0.1 UNrooted? I know I can flash the Verizon firmware through Odin, but not sure how the conversion to dev edition will take it...
Any help that you guys can provide would be great, thanks!
you lose root when you flash back to stock

Just to clarify, once I have the stock firmware, how exactly would I use that, along with odin to unroot my galaxy note 3? (tmobile SM-N900T) I just want to make sure I know how, for when 2.4 comes out

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish, once you Odin back to stock you lose root, but either way your device is already flagged as modified. You'll still be able to flash to 4.4 (I'm assuming that's what you meant).. If you keep root, just not OTA via carrier notice. As a matter of fact, 4.4 will probably be available here on XDA , long before it's pushed out by the provider

Hello all, I recently switched from T-Mobile to AIO Wireless, Since the phone is an Original M919 can I still do the update to Kit Kat?
This phone has been unlocked, and I have rooted it currently using TWRP, but never installed any custom roms on it it still has the 4.3 on it
AIO Wireless uses AT&T Towers but they have a great deal $45 bucks per month for everything I was paying about 55 for T-Mobile getting only 500MB of Data with AIO i get 2.5 GB of data for 10 bucks less the service is really good hasn't failed me yet.
So that's my question Can I still Upgrade ? and will I loose everything? like TWRP etc... ?
sorry fro the noob question any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Louie
On the KitKat discussion thread, someone put a link to the update package. You can sideload it. Be warned, you will lose root.

To get the official OTA, you will have to go back to stock 4.3 and then upgrade from there. You will probably have to do a factory reset to bring it to official status after you unroot. It doesn't matter what carrier you are currently on.

Thanks I did a back up yesterday before I rooted the phone with Kies, I am looking at ABOUT PHONE and it still says 4.3 and Baseband M919UVUEMK2 isn't that stock ? I haven't put any Custom Roms on it just rooted, I will have to learn how to Unroot lol
Thanks for all your help
You won't need to factory reset. Mine was rooted and I figured it would be easier to use Odin to flash an official 4.3 back on. Did that and the phone was running just like yesterday but without root. So then I went ahead and did the upgrade via wifi. A day later and it's still running great. Never did a factory reset though. Now just patiently
waiting for more people saying they have rooted 4.4

1. First what do you mean about flash ?
2. The update to KitKat is good because you "try" a new experience but not is so amazing...

Unless the update is boost mobile specific it will put you in a sprint 4.4.2 rom update.

the update is ota and from sprint thats what sansung told me but i want to know if i do the update will the flash be removed i been told some phones it can and some it wont anyone a expert in flashing and knows what i am talking about ?
You could try making a backup of your current state, flashing to stock/removing mods and ota/kies update. Then flash the update again. If you don't like it u can just restore ur phone back to before all these steps.
I just did the same for upgrading to stock kit kat from stock 4.3 with custom kernel as the kit kat for my country was released several days ago.

I keep reading that we can "flash" back. When we say this do you mean for the Verizon retail version or the Dev version?
Verizon retail can flash back to KK using odin.

Are there instructions on how to revert verizon retail Note 4 back to KK after upgrade to LP? I've been looking around and so far haven't stumbled across anything.
My Note 4 is my first Samsung phone and I'm not familiar with odin, so instructions on using odin would be helpful too.

You will need to download the firmware from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...mware-firmware-kernel-modem-recovery-t2942937 I used the ANJ5 full firmware then you will have to extract it to get the tar.md5 file which will be flashed in odin which you can also get from there. http://www.droidviews.com/install-stock-firmware-on-samsung-galaxy-devices-using-odin/ this will show you more about using Odin to flash just remember to check your MD5 on the firmware and Odin. After you flash the file in Odin and it reboots your phone will bootloop so you will need to pull the battery and boot to recovery by holding power+home+volume up and do a factory reset as this will fix the bootloop.
If I downgrade my Verizon note 4 retail from L 5.0.1 to KK 4.4.4 will it trip the warranty bit or knox? I don't want to lose my warranty because it's an Edge device?
Tell you honestly , who would want to, My phone works so much better with 5.01
Because there are too many bugs and better battery life with KK
Can any body help and tell me What the easiest way to root a verizon note 4 5.0.1

Not Possible
You could try Kingroot. I believe there is a method on 4.4.4 so you could also flash backwith the correct stock Verizon ROM and ODIN and go from there. Link is posted below to the firmware for the SM-N910V.

If VZW Note 4 got to 5.0.1 via an OTA update there is no going back to 4.4.4. Furthermore Kingroot only yields temporary root on 4.4.4 and it's extremely limited in it's usefulness. So short answer, no root unless you have the Development Edition Note 4 on Verizon.
