[Q] S-Off/Unlock BL w/o Sunshine - Verizon HTC One (M7)

I've been out of the game for a while but I'm getting frustrated with my phone lately. I'm completely stock at this point with the latest build from HTC. Is there any way to go S-Off or unlock the BootLoader so I can run custom recovery/ROM's/Root etc. without using the Sunshine method. I'd rather not drop $25 for just this one phone.
Thanks in advance

No, Sunshine is the only way.

[Q] S-Off achievable on newest H-Boot and OTA?

I just got my M8 yesterday after running over my previous phone, and immediately started looking into s-off and root. Am I screwed with the 4.4.3 update when it comes to s-off, because it seems like firewater won't work. Is there a different exploit that works? I couldn't find anything searching. My apologizes about the noobness, I'm always like this when I first get a new device. Many thanks in advance, sorry for any errors grammar-wise, I'm on my phone.

You need to use Sunshine. It costs $25 and not transferrable to a different phone, but it is worth it IMHO.

Cool, thanks. Sunshine is just for s-off, right? I can still root and bootloader unlock without sunshine, correct?

I did, then I must have done something wrong. had a pretty constant reboot problem. Ended up buying S-Off and flashing GPE ruu.

Sweet, thank you very much. I'm just a bit tight after buying this phone and having a 1k mile road trip this week. Good to know I can get my root on.
I just did the same thing I love it no more sense or HTC preventing me from running the latest software

Correct, but I preferred to get S-off with sunshine then root and unlock the bootloader without having to get the HTC developer unlock. This way HTC doesn't have any record of the bootloader being unlocked.

Please Help Me With S-OFF [NOOB]

I am a noob to the htc side of things and am learning about s-off and bootloader unlocking. I have a verizon m7 and it is on the latest update so after trying for 2hrs to get rumrunner working I read that the only s-off method that works for this version is Sunshine. Now I am only going to be using this phone for a few weeks until I can get my hands on a nexus 6 and it has a cracked screen so I just can't justify spending to unlock the bootloader. Is there any way possible to unlock the 5.28.605.2 version for free? And if not that version specifically is there a way to downgrade? I want this so I can run an AOSP rom but if there is no way without paying I might as well just rock stock sense. Also no disrespect to the sunshine devs they have done great work I just can't afford it right now. Thanks!
Edit: Also is there a way to get root without S-off/bootloader unlock so that I can atleast use Xposed? Again sorry for the noob questions im so used to having a nexus that all these things are new to me.
Being locked and s-on, any way you would get root would be temporary and any changes to system would be reset upon reboot. Only way for permanent root is s-off or unlock. (This means xposed will not work.
Only software to s-off and unlock for recent ota is sunshine. You can look at java card or jtag services, but they are more expensive than sunshine.
You cannot downgrade without s-off.

Curious, are you turned off from S-OFF because you are happy stock, or you don't want to pay the $25 for S-OFF.
100% curiosity, feel free not to answer, I'm just honestly curious.
Trying to get some feedback on the payment for sunshine and if people are turned off by it.

I really would love to run paranoid android on this phone but its not so much the price its the fact that I'm not going to use this phone for too long im just waiting for the nexus 6. That being said if it were closer to $10 i probably would have done it. Also sense 6 is way more tolerable than older versions I've used.

[Q] M8T China Mobile - Anyone Can S-OFF?

Hello everyone,
I am owning 1 HTC M8T (China Mobile). I know this is world version but very special version that at the moment I try to search on the internet that no way to S Off my phone although I tried sunshine and some other ways. Anyone know how to S-OFF or anyway that I could flash a custom ROMs? I try some ROM it works but cannot turn on the WIFI and go back to find the way and they said I have to install RUU... and this way still require S OFF. So, I have to S-OFF to do anything.
Please help.
Sunshine is the ONLY way to s-off currently. So if that's not working its pretty much impossible to gain it.
You need to go ahead and unlock your bootloader before using Sunshine, in most cases anyway. And Sunshine is in fact the only method of getting S-Off as of the moment.

[Q] Rooting and S-OFF LP without HTC Dev

Hello,
I see that Sunshine requires temp root in order to be able to s-off on lollipop. Do we have it without htcdev?
I'd rather not use htcdev because I'm afraid HTC may be keeping unlocked phone serials stored so that they'll be able to refuse warranty service even if the phone has been brought back to stock.
Thank you very much

Sunshine comes with the necessary files for temp root. You don't need anything other than Sunshine itself. Download it, run it and it will tell you if it can work or not. That's really all there is to it.

root without breaking warranty

Can anyone point in the right direction in rooting the m8 without breaking the warranty or unlocking the bootloader?
Rooting without breaking warranty is what we all dream off. Want to bring the phone back to 100% stock you need s-off so you can return bootloader tampered flags back to normal.
S-off is only available via sunshine !
ok have learnt basiclaly sunshine need to be done to unlock the bootloader. However sunshine needs root access to work and it says come here to find out how to get root access. I personally dont care for soff all i want it root.
What are the methods to gain root. Dont care about soff.
is htcdev method the only way? As htc would have a permanent record you have requested your code. Doesnt seem like a great idea imo. Are there any other methods to gain root?
Can this device be rooted without unlocking the bootloader?
Nope, thats the only way.

Bugger all about rooting. So it would seem it shouldn't break the warranty, or am i missing something?

For previous OS version, there was an option in sunshine to temp root, s-off, and unlock the bootloader. And from there you can install custom recovery and perm root.
But no such temp root exploit has been found for newer (Lollipop) OS versions, unfortunately.
I really hate the idea of having to unlock the bootloader just to root and also giving your imei to htc. The HTC looks like a complete ball ache to get back to stock also.
