After I update my Zenfone 2 ZE551 to 2.19.40.20 I found that both Sims are not working as the attached pics, I restart the phone more than time and nothing happened

Tried the same sims on my 1.8ghz ZE551 and they also had no problem - updated to 2.19.40.22...
Didn't try on 19.40.20...

Patience, it seems to roll out slowly... Not a major update anyway, mostly to fix calling in Thailand and a couple of (mostly) unrelated stuff that will help only in certain circumstances...
My advice would be to flash the pre-rooted 19.40.18 image and then upgrade again. If the OTA isn't pushed you should find it here on XDA. You might even find 19.40.22 as well as it's been 2 days since release...
Just make sure you don't wipe anything, just install the 1st pre-rooted file then after reset go back to fastboot and install the next...

That is not software problem. I don't know why but some SIM cards are more thin the others and the SIM badges let them slip, after some time. I don't know if Asus did the badge to large, but in my case I found a solution that is pull the SIM to the pin conector, wint some paper sheet (little pieces) to create some volume, to force the SIM remain in his place. After that no more fails in SIM cards (both). I felt this problem at four firmwares ago. Now I'm in WW.20.19.40.22 and everything is ok.
Thanks, Now I'm in WW.20.19.40.22 and still the same issue I tested another sim and worked perfectly but only in sim2 and sim1 still unavailable I`m hopeless and don't know what to do

I am having the same issue but flashed to new SuperZenROM which works! I am on 551, unlocked BL and rooted. SuperZen ROM just debloated a lot of Asus apps I can do without.
After latest firmware is applied you may need to perform a hardware reset including wipe cache partition. For hardware reset/wipe cache partition instructions please see the following: http://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1011956/
If possible please send a private message to [email protected]. Please include your serial number.

Yep same here, my phone has went insane after this last update. My data drops in and out, overheating and shutting down, battery drains in like 3 hours. A friend of mine said they received literally 500 repeat texts from me yesterday and I didn't even text them. Before the update, I had zero problems.

Hell there,
this is my first post, I don't know if I'm doing it wrong.
I have Unlocked HTC one M8.
I'm Using ARDH 5.0
after a period of using the phone, I realized there is n issue with sim card detection as the phone keep giving the message the sim is not found , like it keeps disconnecting, when you reboot the problem is resolved temporarily but after sometimes you get the message again, I tried different operator sim cards ( Du and Etisalat - UAE) , still got the same issue.
I tried re-flashing the Rom , still got the same issue.
any Idea what is wrong??

Do you mean the internal SD card ??
because I flashed the rom first time without an external SD card , the second time with a 16 GB external SD ,
I still got the same problem , I guess It could be hardware or software issue, I wonder if some one else got the same issue !!
I guess I solved the issue , I think it's radio or firmware issue
first thing I did was to get s-off
from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708464
then I changed my cid: HTC__J15 into super CID
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
then I flashed firmware.zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696282
after that I flashed TWRP recovery and re flashed the Rom,
everything seems to work fine , 2 days no incident

You will have that problem again after sometime. It's not a ROM error but rather the simcard being loose while on the tray. I experienced that problem earlier today on my M8. I filed the sim-card edges n now it seems fine.
I'll report later on progress.
Hi,
I flashed the GPE onto my one and now I don't seem to get any network when I put the sim.. No issues with wifi..
I am on The google CID.
No basebands are shown..
Any help would be appreciated ..

I've been fine ever since. People with no wifi or network normally are the one who buy US phones then flash custom ROMs without corresponding kernels.
what problem do you face?

I have an Asia Model M7_u
I was on ViperOne 4.2 earlier so to upgrade to 7.0.1, I followed the steps to do S-OFF and then changed CID to 11111111 and upgraded my firmware to 6.09.401.5 and installed the ROM, worked fine for a week or so and then I started losing 3G network signal minutes at a time and duration kept getting longer until I completely lost all coverage.
I assumed firmware radio must not have flashed properly so I did a backup+full wipe+firmware flash+rom flash+backup again, phone worked fine for 2 days and it started again at a faster rate until I lost all coverage again in 2-3 days.
Tried with 2G network too, same things happened.
Tried changing ROMS and also flashing the firmware I missed from directly coming from 4.2 to 7.0.1 sequentially with the relevant Hboot versions, nothing happened.
And now my phone doesn't even recognize that the sim card is in the tray, it only says please insert sim card !!
other things that I have noticed is that toggling airplane mode takes a lot of time and sometimes it shows the airplane icon and in the settings it gets stuck on "Turning on...." mode
Apart from all this my brother has the same phone and he's on the same rom with same firmware and his phone is working all fine, only difference he and I had was that he was already on ViperOne 6.2 before he started all the steps to go to 7.0.1 and I was on 4.2
I have tried my sim on his phone with both my sim tray and his and it works, so it's not an error of sim card or sim tray not adjusting properly.
Got any advice for me, what should I try next?

I think you mean "firmware" instead of "kernel". The kernel for the ROM will flash automatically along with the ROM.

I'm talking about a kernel. Say, you have a Verizon m8 and you flash ARHD 22.1, you'll need to flash the kernel.zip specifically designed for the Verizon m8 since it has CDMA which is yet to be supported by ARHD 22.1!
Note that custom ROMS dont come with corresponding firmware. You must flash that separately.

I know you need to flash firmware separately. Do you have the Verizon variant? Because the CDMA variants are more the exception to the rule. Broken WiFi is most commonly caused by outdated firmware, not wrong kernel.

Yes I've the Verizon variant and you must flash both. An updated firmware without the corresponding kernel wont work.

hello ladies and gents I bought a note 3 yesterday from some dude thinking I could fix it and get a note 3 on the cheap. I was wrong the problem is hard to fix.
1 It will not register to network
it is not blacklisted or network blocked.
Ive read somewhere that after you register to many different sims it wont allow it to connect to network anymore.
what can I do I wonder as a last ditch effort if I replace the motherboard if that will work any suggestions please?

Have you tried updating the firmware? check the APN on the phone once you insert the sim.
You could try taking it to a T-Mobile store to see if they can get it to register. Sometimes they can activate it when you can't.

Well, that's interesting.
If you go to settings, mobile networks, and search for networks, can you select the network and have it register?
Also double check the apn settings. I borked my hidden apn settings once and couldn't get back on the network until i wiped and reflashed full stock.
If none of that works, try also resetting the nv. Look for my thread on 900t service mode for instructions.
Sent from my leanKernel 3.16 powered stock 4.4.2 SM-N900T
I've already rebuilt the nv build. It's a family mobile sim(tmobile)
Also the apn settings I can try that again haven't changed them since I did a flashed back to stock. I doubt it will change anything usually you can still register.
oh the sim doesn't even have service anymore anyhow. Yesterday was the last day but I don't think that would change being able to register anyway.
Notice that it turns off mobile data when I try to register it may be a clue but I haven't been able to make anything of it.

I have just updated my 3 UK Lenovo P2 to the rest of the world ROM (Lenovo P2a42 Stock Nougat Update [S232]), very easy just stuck the ROM on SD card and rebooted into stock updater.
I only had it running for 5 minutes when I received an OTA update that has now taken it to S233, (P2a42_S233_170404_ROW).
I just thought this might be of interest to other 3 UK users, reassuring that OTA updates come through automatically.
i will now trial the phone and see if I can find any problems.

I got it through the updater of the phone(ota). I'm on ROW.

Hmmm...im on uk 3 but not received an update yet?
Generally comparing MM vs Nougat I also think that the fingerprint sensor is way faster on 7.0

Has anyone noticed any issues when trying to dial a number after doing this update? I keep getting the have that the "DEVICE IS NOT REGISTERED OK NETWORK". Data etc work fine, just no calls. Read a similar thread, sometime suggested trying this:
At dialer press "*#*#4636#*#*" then phone information and press top right three dots. There is an option for area band. Choose your area.
I did that, but the only option I have is for USA.... I'm in the UK.
Any thoughts?

I succesfully updated P2a42_S033_161122_TMO with P2a42_S062_170117_ROW_TO_P2a42_S232_170320_ROW_WC00AFB1F4.zip (of course renamed to update.zip on SD card).
Then came OTA , and I'm on S233_ROW now.
After the recent update my phone reports a problem with my two SIM cards + SD card hack.
Everything is working, but an annoying pop up that I cannot get rid off prevents me from using the phone.
I just updated the phone, I did not change the SIM cards or SD card - now it is suddenly complaining.
Any ideas how to fix this?
I think it is something only in the software, it checks for Sim Card 2 if it is present and the memory card is present it activates this stupid error message.
Hope they can fix it by any flashable zip update.
If you find any solution, please keep us updated.

Does anybody know if it Samsung related or Android? So other phones with Dual SIM slot and memory extension would still accept the SIM-SD hack or it is blocked by Android if one slot contains both, SD-Card and SIM it pops up this useless message?
need a solution
Please share if anybody comes up with a solution.

Hi kramer!
How did you do this? Where to get the firmware and how to manually install the old firmware? Any link to a how to would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I installed the BRE5 firmware - make sure it's correct for your phone though, from here .
Download, unzip & install using Odin - tutorials already on here.
Odin.
Is the correct firmware at this link?

Hi Kramer!
I checked the link and I saw a firmaware dated June 29th with almost the same name that is currently running on my S9+. My baseband version is G965FXXU1BRF5 on the site I can find G965FXXU1BRF8.zip but with this date isn't it the same release that already blocks access if SIM and SD are presented in the same slot?
And what does the difference in BFR5 and BRF8 mean?
Thanks for helping me out.
Hello everyone,
I have a pretty big issue with my HTC 10 which I installed LineageOS 16 on.
Last week I got the HTC 10 from my dad because he switched to a POCO F1 because the HTC has the battery problem (fast draining, phone powers off when trying to use camera etc.).
Since I was on a LG G3 which has the common display problem I took the HTC and didn't care much about the battery.
When I got the phone it was updated to Android 8 via OTA. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP, then LOS 16 (2019-02-02 build) and 9.0 gapps.
First I had no sim card because the G3 used micro SIM. Then I ordered a new one from o2 since it's free and has a 3 size adapter. When it arrived I tried to put it into my phone and was surprised that it still says no sim card.
It should work because my dad also has an o2 sim card and only one week passed since I got the phone so I don't think this is a hardware failure.
I have read something that I only can use Android 8+ ROM on 8 firmware but it was updated to 8 so it should have the 8 firmware, right?
IMEI is shown in settings too and there was something about flashing RUU to get to stock and having the 8.0 firmware.
If I really need that (which I want to avoid since I have to backup data and I have much data) can someone give me a link to Android 8 RUU?
I have a unbranded HTC 10 from Germany if that matters.
Thank you in advance,
VetrixFX

Being a custom rom with aosp base and a non standard/foreign provider, you likely need to manually set your apn.

I can't configurate my APN when the SIM card is not detected. There is no SIM card PIN prompt and it is a non-branded phone. My dad used the same provider as me with this phone but he was on Stock while I flashed it.

Oh, I see.
I would suggest going back to a stock based rom or RUU and see if it's actually working there.
Rather then relying on a custom based rom while troubleshooting it.
Could be a sudden hardware failure in the Sim slot/reader.

So here is the 2nd problem. I can't find a RUU where I am sure that is 99% compatible with my phone.
Also, I'm not real familiar with O2, but possibly the new SIM card needs to be activated...? (Pay as you go requires it, unfamiliar with other options)
I didn't see where you said if you tested the new sim in another phone. My apologies if I missed it.

Yeah I forgot to mention that I tested the SIM in another phones.
I tested it in my Xperia SP and in my dad's POCO F1 and the PIN prompt comes. And the card is already activated.

Ok, that's good.
The RUU you need has been posted multiple times and is referenced on many threads on here.

So the link you gave me was dead too but in this thread I was able to find a working link.
But it's slow but again I found a link in a german forum which hosted the RUU on G-Drive.
Still thank you.

Ah now I get why the link was dead. The first time I clicked on your link it somehow took me to the last post on this site and THIS link was dead. Now that I opened it again the link on the post you linked me to was working but I think it was the slow one

So I installed the RUU and SIM still won't work. :/
Guess it's a hardware problem. What could it be tho?

Like I said, most likely the Sim card reader itself has gone bad or has lost its connection to the board.

You could give this old trick a shot, if you want.
Might be worth a try.
