Hell there,
this is my first post, I don't know if I'm doing it wrong.
I have Unlocked HTC one M8.
I'm Using ARDH 5.0
after a period of using the phone, I realized there is n issue with sim card detection as the phone keep giving the message the sim is not found , like it keeps disconnecting, when you reboot the problem is resolved temporarily but after sometimes you get the message again, I tried different operator sim cards ( Du and Etisalat - UAE) , still got the same issue.
I tried re-flashing the Rom , still got the same issue.
any Idea what is wrong??

Do you mean the internal SD card ??
because I flashed the rom first time without an external SD card , the second time with a 16 GB external SD ,
I still got the same problem , I guess It could be hardware or software issue, I wonder if some one else got the same issue !!
I guess I solved the issue , I think it's radio or firmware issue
first thing I did was to get s-off
from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708464
then I changed my cid: HTC__J15 into super CID
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
then I flashed firmware.zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696282
after that I flashed TWRP recovery and re flashed the Rom,
everything seems to work fine , 2 days no incident

You will have that problem again after sometime. It's not a ROM error but rather the simcard being loose while on the tray. I experienced that problem earlier today on my M8. I filed the sim-card edges n now it seems fine.
I'll report later on progress.
Hi,
I flashed the GPE onto my one and now I don't seem to get any network when I put the sim.. No issues with wifi..
I am on The google CID.
No basebands are shown..
Any help would be appreciated ..

I've been fine ever since. People with no wifi or network normally are the one who buy US phones then flash custom ROMs without corresponding kernels.
what problem do you face?

I have an Asia Model M7_u
I was on ViperOne 4.2 earlier so to upgrade to 7.0.1, I followed the steps to do S-OFF and then changed CID to 11111111 and upgraded my firmware to 6.09.401.5 and installed the ROM, worked fine for a week or so and then I started losing 3G network signal minutes at a time and duration kept getting longer until I completely lost all coverage.
I assumed firmware radio must not have flashed properly so I did a backup+full wipe+firmware flash+rom flash+backup again, phone worked fine for 2 days and it started again at a faster rate until I lost all coverage again in 2-3 days.
Tried with 2G network too, same things happened.
Tried changing ROMS and also flashing the firmware I missed from directly coming from 4.2 to 7.0.1 sequentially with the relevant Hboot versions, nothing happened.
And now my phone doesn't even recognize that the sim card is in the tray, it only says please insert sim card !!
other things that I have noticed is that toggling airplane mode takes a lot of time and sometimes it shows the airplane icon and in the settings it gets stuck on "Turning on...." mode
Apart from all this my brother has the same phone and he's on the same rom with same firmware and his phone is working all fine, only difference he and I had was that he was already on ViperOne 6.2 before he started all the steps to go to 7.0.1 and I was on 4.2
I have tried my sim on his phone with both my sim tray and his and it works, so it's not an error of sim card or sim tray not adjusting properly.
Got any advice for me, what should I try next?

I think you mean "firmware" instead of "kernel". The kernel for the ROM will flash automatically along with the ROM.

I'm talking about a kernel. Say, you have a Verizon m8 and you flash ARHD 22.1, you'll need to flash the kernel.zip specifically designed for the Verizon m8 since it has CDMA which is yet to be supported by ARHD 22.1!
Note that custom ROMS dont come with corresponding firmware. You must flash that separately.

I know you need to flash firmware separately. Do you have the Verizon variant? Because the CDMA variants are more the exception to the rule. Broken WiFi is most commonly caused by outdated firmware, not wrong kernel.

Yes I've the Verizon variant and you must flash both. An updated firmware without the corresponding kernel wont work.

Hello everyone!
I would greatly appreciate if someone could show the right way to get my phone fully functional;

2. Mobile data is just not working properly even though I did everything as said here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one-m8/general/enabling-3g-umts-countries-t2847461
As I did my research, it was some kind of a major bug on this series of Sprint M8 phones with breakdowns in mobile data. However, since I can not get any updates, the problem perists.
I tried installing custom ROM's, but so far ARHD 22 didn't even boot and LiquidSmooth couldn't detect the SIM card at all.
I know there are quite a few tutorials and "how-to" threads explaining all you need to know about RUU, cusotm ROM's, etc. However if someone could tell me what exactly to do and in which order (return to stock, then update?) I would greatly appreciate it.
Many many thanks!

Easiest way to get it back to stock is just flash the Sprint H/K RUU. You can download it from HERE. Just run it and connect your phone when prompted and follow the instructions (I'd probably change your CID back to the Sprint one first to be on the safe side but as you're S-OFF it shouldn't be needed). You might also need HTC Sync Manager installed. If so, you can get it HERE
This process will wipe the phone completely so back up any data first but other than that you'll at least be back to stock and then troubleshoot any issues from there
Thanks
Many thanks to everyone.
Any chances of loosing the SIM UNLOCK when going back to stock completely?
Nope, that shouldn't be touched but as I've not had a SIM-locked device in years I can't say for certain

Why not 34? Lol Sprint is up to date on its software you could just update to the lollipop firmware, and I could pull some of the files I've got to see if I can help you get it running, I'm on Leedroid right now so the process should be the same for ARHD.

You can or you can go to the Sprint android development and flash the updated recovery since you are s-off and it'll permit you to flash lollipop roms without many issues but there is still the files that need to be modified for ARHD to work correctly like the boot.img and a few others.

Power+vol up for about 15 seconds then power+vol down to get into recovery. You cant flash it unless you swap out Sprint specific files otherwise you'll get what just happened or boot directly into boot loader.
Like I mentioned I can pull the files together and see if I can get it working for Sprint tonight when I get home but until then flash either fluent Rom or stock if you want lollipop or just flash bad boyz if you don't mind kitkat

For me, the biggest issue is the mobile data breakdowns... I know I read somewhere a while ago it was an issue with some Sprint M8 models. I would like to get everything working w/o problems since it is GSM unlocked, and via QPST I unlocked all the bands.

Also, I just found some official EU RUU's with different radio's as far as I can tell from the filename.
Maybe that could be the final solution to all the problems?
Good day, I apologize in advance if this is a duplicate thread
My M8 randomly stopped detecting my SIM card after I installed my dbrand skin (which is weird because it's just a skin on the phone, it's not going to hamper the performance, right?)
I have a dev ed M8 S-On, BL unlocked with TWRP and I'd like to try flashing the stock RUU or firmware for it.
I am not sure where to find those, or how to go about flashing it.
Can anybody help me sort this out? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Please delete if possible, I found my answer elsewhere.

Can't see how such a skin would have that effect. Maybe the SIM tray got jarred loose a bit during the application process?
Did you try taking the SIM tray and SIM out, then putting it back in?

You can find the DE RUUs linked in my thread under "RUUs": http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751432
With s-on, you need to relock the bootloader with the fastboot command: fastboot oem lock
From there, just run the RUU with the phone in fastboot mode while connected to PC. The RUU is fully automated and self-explanatory.
Also, you can only run the RUU for same or greater hboot/version number than what is on the device (no "downgrading").

Okay so I did exactly what you said to do
Relock bootloader> run the RUU and accept everything once read> let it do it's thing
My main problem before was finding which RUU to run, and if I needed to relock my bootloader because of it's DE status

Yeah, as suspected something went wrong with the firmware and flashing the stock RUU fixed it. I'm not exactly sure why it suddenly stopped recognizing my sim card, but it's fixed now so I'm happy.

Okay so the phone fell today and the simcard stopped recognizing again, but I tried another carrier's sim card and it picks up without a problem. I tried flashing the RUU again (twice actually) and no luck. I do see the network that I want when I manually search for it, but I can't select it on the sim card from the other carrier for obvious reasons.
I have no idea what's going on with it.
I'm guessing my sim card isn't fitting well.
Gonna try to get it replaced in the next few days.

That's probably your best bet, at least as a start. Many carriers will also replace your SIM for free, so its easy to at least start troubleshooting from there.

There is also a trick that sometimes helps, where you put a piece of Scotch tape on the SIM (on the side without the gold contacts) and the extra thickness may help "push" the SIM into proper position (make proper contact). But be careful you don't jam up your SIM slot with the tape, or you can be in a real jam.
I haven't seen any folks have this issue on the M8, but I saw it fairly occasionally on some past HTC devices (One X was my last HTC phone). For that phone, the "SIM tape trick" worked in more than a couple instances.

You can't flash another version's radio with s-on.
EDIT: Realized that you have the DE. But still, if s-on, a radio or firmware will only flash if the file is still HTC encrypted/signed.
Also, wrong radio wouldn't give you a SIM error. You would have at least GSM voice and EDGE data, even with the wrong radio. You just would not be able to connect 3G or LTE.

I ended up trying it just before I saw this reply, and sadly it didn't work at all.
I'm getting "No Sim Card" when I try my main carrier's sim, but my other carrier's sim is picking up without a problem.
So I'm definitely getting it replaced today. The recommended DE Radio update didn't seem to change anything, and my rom still works fine.
Thanks for the advice and help. I'll let you know if a new sim card worked in this case.

They just go bad sometimes, its not unheard of.
hi there, I have no back up of stock, and flashed the viper rom with no luck, won't show imei or baseband even though fastboot getvar all shows that information.
1. phone is rooted and unlocked
2. used sunshine to get s off and unlock bootloader
3. supercid 11111111 activated
4 full wipe/clean several times , different roms with no luck
5 tried to flash the newest firmware maybe that will activate it with no luck, I get error stating name does not match in the android info file, tried to edit with notepad++ and entered correct information, re zipped, still giving me errors
6 tried downloading stock image files several times for my service provider, but because the file is so big, it somehow cancels when it reaches 90% network error, and dl won't restart, gotta start all over and same thing happend, cannot get a complete package to try that.
the phone works great with viper rom, its just that I can't use it because of no imei or baseband, I am guessing the previous owner erased the efs partition of the phone while trying new roms, and with backup on hand, I have no idea what to do - my guess IMEI repair or generating a new esf partition with the correct information will work, but how do I do that ?
I am not an expert, just did enough reading and spend some money to get this phone working.
If you have a better idea, or would like to help me I can compensate you for your time.
Thank you so much
it's actually not that easy to erase the efs partition (if it's there on htc devices) without much knowledge...
which operator do you have and which main_version is the original one? i noticed that superCID doesn't work with all firmware.zip don't know why, somehow i wasn't able to flash all and for some i needed to change t he cid to the one matching the firmware, even if it's x.xx.401.x firmware

thanks for writing
I had problems flashing firmware as you stated, even though I am supercid , tried once more to flash the latest firmware by changing my id's to the file, almost crashing/bricking my phone, errors, I accidental unplugged phone and it stopped, there was a don't power off warning too, but that stopped once the phone was unplugged from pc, tried again, flashed a NO WIPE firmware M9_3.35* DEV edition and after that flashed the viper rom, worked smoothly the process didnt take as long like before , and it worked, had my imei and baseband. Now it might not be perfect, because I am not getting full reception (3-4 bars at all times) but it works which is great! I will leave it like that unless I can flash a radio that is suitable for this firmware/phone (rogers/canada)
My signal indoors is 3 bars in a high signal area so you probably fixed it.

Sorry to resurrect this few month old thread, but I'm currently experiencing the same issue as the OP.
What firmware file did you flash to get things working again?
Cheers
Hi,
Same issue here.
I flashed the Bell firmware for my phone and I still have no IMEI...

I was completely bell mobile stock.
version 1.xxx?
the system downloaded the update for version 2.xxx? and now I got my network back wooohoo!
It wants to download another update but I am afraid to do so! I'm scared I would lose network again...
When I first got my HTC LTE was working fine then it suddenly stopped. I called T-Mobile who was clueless, so I popped the sim back into my S7 Edge and Nexus 6P age LTE worked perfectly. I decided to try unlocking s-off etc to flash a more current firmware since mine was on a really old one. I flagged 1.30xx stock then LeeDroid rom being sure to not decrypt data during the process. LTE still won't won't, I'm only getting HSPA+ which sucks. I have another sim card I could activate, but I want to know if there's another way to fix this? My APN seems fine, as does the preferred radio mode. Any suggestions/additional troubleshooting that I can do before sending the phone back
Update:
Here are some videos I made showing the issue:
Part 1
Part 2
I will add another one using the stock ROM to further prove the issue exists on both the unlocked firmware, and T-Mobile one.
You root your phone, mess it up and then send it back? Kinda messed up.
Did you try flashing the latest modem?

He said this happened before, and he tried rooted and flashing a ROM to see if it made a difference.

No, I stated the issue was there before then. I only unlocked it and flashed updated firmware in an attempt to fix the issue which it didn't. Clearly we all need to read thoroughly before responding to an OP so we don't look arrogant in the end.
Now, on another note I mentioned this issue was already present from the moment I started using the phone 100% stock. It will sometimes still get LTE, but it only sticks for 10-30 seconds then drops to H/H+ immediately. My S7 Edge and Nexus 6P do not have this issue whatsoever therefore I'm certain something with the firmware is not right.

Thank you, for reading the OP , and no I don't have just the modem files, although I do have the RUU so I know it's in there

No, I can't get it to flash, but I'm going to try another method for updating it to that version
Mine has been extremely inconsistent in sticking to LTE. Sometimes I have to force it to LTE only and then when I switch back to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto, it ****s the bed for a few minutes before correcting itself.

Did you try downloading the ruu.exe on the computer and then running it as administrator also make sure you have either changed your cid to the US unlocked one or to supercid I used the exe version of the ruu it went fine on my end I hope you get your situation worked out
I don't know your phone model, but since you are in the US. I would suggest you run US unlocked RUU for eliminating any software issues.
If you have an unlocked device, then you can simply download from @Behold's thread about us unlocked RUU.
If you have a T-mobile device, I would suggest you to get s-off and then run RUU.
Send back your modified phone is likely the least preferred option to do/recommend.

I changed my CID/MID to the unlocked model, but the RUU app keeps giving me an error code 155 (I think that's what it was).

If you read the OP I do have S-Off and an unlcoked BL, but the RUU will not flash, what steps are you using to do it? I may have made a mistaken given how I normally flash my Shied or Nexus which are both really easy to do.

That's exactly what I did, and I just confirmed the error code was "155 unknown error"

Did you right click the ruu.exe and choose to run as administrative that's the only thing else I can say maybe a more experienced person can help you further sorry

Redownload the ruu or just try from a whole different computer if you have access to one

Yep, following the instructions to the t (so to speak), it ran fine, booted into whatever that weird screen is with the % on it then after about 15 seconds gave me the error
I just gave the extSD method again, now it is saying
Code:
22 RU_HEADER_ERROR
22 RU_HEADER_ERROR
FAIL22 22 RU_HEADER_ERROR

I did not boot into download mode. Left it on the home screen, Just made sure USB debugging was on. The RUU handled everything after that.
Quick update:
I changed my CID to 111111 and it flashed via the RUU .exe file (surprisingly). I still cannot get LTE other than a ran moment where it might connect for a second before dropping back to H+. I even made a new APN (copied from my S7 Edge) and it still won't get LTE. Could this be some bizarre sim issue despite it working on every other phone I own (4 other phones work fine with LTE and my sim)?

Have them re register the device on the network? The US unlocked base should work fine on TMOUS, I know as I have used it and both LTE, VoLTE, and WiFi calling fully work.
Mikee4fun said:
Looks like a sim issue. Try re seating the sim and if that does not work have TMO give you another sim from the store.

I have another sim, and I've reinserted it s few times now without success. I might call them and activate the other sim. It's just odd how it works flawlessly with LTE on every phone but this one.

Probably a mismatch of boot image, firmware, ROM.
Flash Sprint N RUU to restore your radio and IMEI, then start over by installing your other new RUU and make sure to restore the Sprint radio again.

iv done almost everything, i cant find the SPRINT RADIO, do you have it?
maybe thats causing all the trouble here
Did you install 2.41.401.3 or 2.41.401.4?
The 2.41.401.3 caused some issues for Netherlands, maybe some other countries also, where IMEI disappeared. 2.41.401.4 fixed it.

You didn't do what I told you. Run STROCK SPRINT RUU NOUGAT.
Then load beta TWRP and ROM of your choice.
Also, you didn't search the sprint radio, a quick search would have led to it, it's posted several places.

Sorry, I don't know how to help. Maybe it is a hardware issue? If nothing else works, return to stock & send it to HTC for repair.

After you installed the Nougat RUU, erase the modem1 and modem2 partition manually via fastboot and flash the sprint radio again. See if that helps.
