Hi all.
I returned my black HOX last week because of the screen ripple thing (when you run your finger down the sides of the screen) also the screen seemed to be a tad loose just like so many people have reported on here. So phones4U sent me a white one, I have received it and its worse than the black one now I don't even have to apply any pressure to get the screen ripple. What should I do? should I just put up with the fault or should I change to another phone s3 etc.
Cheers eze

Return it and tell them its a known issue (they should know)
ask for a tested device or enforce a newer batch
SH248 on awards are good
latest SH25 and HT25 seems good
loose screen is a known defect, slight screen ripple on outer edges pressure is normal unless its acting badly

This one is serial SH24, I have literally just had the screen flicker now to, so this phones is defo a faulty one. So the slight screen ripple is normal, I would say my old black one was normal because you had to apply a bit of pressure for the ripple to appear but this white one aint normal. Anyway I have just got of the phone with phones4u and I have managed to arrange to do an exchange in store.

SH23SW, no ripple.
normal is under bit if pressure
I've had two SH25's.
First one had no screen ripple at all but the screen was loose in left bottom corner. I could feel it moving, clicking etc. The backlight was also bleeding from that corner. I returned it and the second one has screen ripple everywhere with light pressure, has a dead pixel and the screen is loose on both sides.
I'm waiting for this one to be replaced. Beginning to wish I wasn't so fussy with the 1st one.
Every HOX will do it under pressure but it shouldn't do it if pressed lightly mines does it but I don't really care as I ain't going to rub sides with a dark screen??

you second hox was defected due to the extra ripple and the first hox was defected due to screen loose
you should expect a defectless hox where the screen is rock rigid and fit on all sides and only slight ripple under pressure to the outside edges
I know, going to hold out for a perfect one now.
On this one you can see a small red light in the top left behind the screen when you are on a call, is this normal? I didn't notice it on the last one.

I dont think he means that, I had that on my original one its the notification led bleeding through the side of the screen and the case, caused by the screen not being glued correctly.
HT25 here and ripples do occur in the middle of the screen with very light pressure. when i press "send" button on SMS app i get a ripple in the middle of the screen. WTF????
I am rooted at this point and not sure if I should screw around with it. What do you guys think?

@Op, there are many threads about screen issues already.

A small portion of my screen turned yellow awhile ago for like 2 mins but is now gone, should i be worried about this ? Uppermost center and at first i thought it was just my eyes but i showed a few people and they noticed it too. Its probably the glue right ? Should i be concerned this will get worse ? My screen also has screen rippling on the sides btw

Hello xda
can you please help me?
A weird pink smudge (size of a finger tip) appeared on my 2weeks old galaxy note 2. Im not using a screen protector but it is in a great condition, few really light scratches, screen is perfectly clean. Smudge is visible on white/yellowish background, but doesnt dissappear on other colours (gray etc,) and is noticable. Ive made a screenshot on the phone, and the smudge isnt visible on the screenshot, just on the screen. Touch is working fine. Other colours are also working on the pink smudge, like when im using Note app, i can paint some stuff , when i paint the smudge with black it isnt visible, but when i paint white its visible. Its placed in the middle left side of the screen. I dont know the cause of it. Can i fix it somehow?
It sounds like the AMOLED panel is messed up... can you take a picture with a camera to show us what it looks like exactly?
It's only 2 weeks old, take it back.
dead pixel

Faulty! Get it replaced! ASAP!
take it back, but before that just remove the screen protector and see if there is any difference.
Some wet application protectors tend to leave behind pink stain in some areas sometimes. But this does look more like a screen issue. But just check before submitting phone to samsung for repairs.

i have no screen protector.
Also a new question could this be made by poking/knocking the screen with a tip of a finger? I heard the screen is really though but I really don't know the cause. And if so, does warranty cover such thing?
it's a stupid question. But I noticed the smudge sometime after a random dude was poking my screen with his finger tips get my attention.

Take it back, under normal use (and even in cases where you'd tap rather hard on the screen) you should never see this... it almost looks like pressure damage to the AMOLED display panel, maybe it's not seated properly. Either way, you should definitely seek replacement or repair ASAP.
As I destroyed the original LCD I replaced the screen with a cheap one from AliExpress (it costs me 25$) .
The original LCD had the same Issues:
-Screen flickering sometimes on dark backgrounds
-Screen banding
(sometimes)
I also have to mention that the screen cable is slightly folded as it was too long to reach the motherboard,
but correct me if I am wrong I don't think this is a screen issue anymore...
! UPDATE!
I've discovered that when a shade of gray and white is shown screen flickers on those shade's

I have that problem too. I have a new screen coming. I find the more I use the phone the better it is. If it sits unused. Like over night it gets worse. I let one of those pixel fixer apps run overnight. That helps some. It's only when black color hits a certain spot on the screen.

On thing to note is that the replacement hasn't got gorilla Glass protection so you definitely gonna need a screen protector.
Also I found the battery removal process a bit harder than I expected.
Try not to pry it out as it's very easy to puncture , there's a pull tab tape underneath the battery cable. It would be tricky at first but once you get it pull it away from the phone and keep it as flat and wide as possible.

I followed these two guide's:
My new screen goes flickering again, but after I keep it off for about a week (while adapting to my Redmi 3), I found that the flickering stop, for now.

Hey bru, here is a temporary solution. Pls download in playstore. Search overlay-float everywhere.
Use it to make a dummy overlay. Then you turn its color to white and place it at the boundary of flickering screen. The place where your normal screen ends and flickering starts, right at that place put the white overlay. I got this idea by observing that the flickering finishes if the screen turns white, but its just the area where flickering is happening that matters. keep that white at all times and flickering wont happen. This overlay app allows you to do that. I hope this will help you, too. ?
credit where i got the idea about this app.
Replaced the screen. Success! So far everything is good.

Hi guys
Can you check curved edges part of display near top and bottom portion to see when pressed with little pressure whether screen goes down ? Especially near front facing camera .
Thank You
Checked near the front camera area and yes ,the screen goes down a little upon pressing in the edges with little pressure.

And what is to do now? Maybe all Z Plays have this. You must look very critical to see this "issue". For me it's ok. There is no 100% perfect phone.
But is the issue bigger, then I would call the support.

I agree, it's not a major issue, I was thinking to take of the screen completley and reglue it using some duble sided tape... But there is a risk of breaking the screen in the proces... It's not worth it
What about putting duck tape across top and bottom of the screen? Don't forget to make holes for loudspeaker, front camera and proximity sensor. And for microphone and fingerprint at bottom
So, you're all saying that tbe whole screen is moving a bit in the case? Check teardown and you'll see that is actually glued. Not my favorite solution but I suppose is cost effective.

Bought a screen off eBay, yes you need to heat up the glue underneath the screen with a heat gun.
Got the new screen in after I had to remove all the small piece of glass that was still glued but it's not an easy repair and I still have screen issues I assume the screen isn't the same quality as the original one which comes with a silver backing plate.
In bright sunlight my screen turns blue
The battery maybe will never die, because a bigger LiPo much longer live as a small one and we just load again all 2 or 3 days. So that's ok that's build in. Maybe the screen is much earlier broken. Hope it doesn't broke
My battery has 3600mAh(3597)

I don't think that anyone is planning to drop the phone. Except maybe Turbo 2/Force.

Ironically, mine got green lines literally sitting on the desk.
I can confirm my phone has the same problem near the top left corner. It is so disappointing to see such a bad build quality.
If you observe carefully just above volume up button screen is not even inside the aluminum frame there is slight gap. And if you apply little pressure screen goes down. Is this normal ?
