I've been searching, but haven't been able to find the information I need. I'm trying to find how to install TWRP on my Verizon SM-P605V but can't figure out the correct TWRP version (ending in 4.3 or 4.4) or even if it's possible. I've seen posts saying TWRP has been installed, despite locked bootloader, through Odin, but I haven't been able to get this to work. Each time I get a failure during the flash process. Any help would be appreciated!
You can't AFAIK, the VZW bootloader is locked and no Dev has taken the time to unlock it. No custom recoveries, no custom ROMs.

Ok. That's disheartening, but thank you. I'd seen conflicting info, but it was people just saying SM-P605 and not specifying whether or not it was Verizon. Hopefully someone can unlock it, because it'll probably take Sammy another 8 months to finish L for it!

Yeah I have had it for a year. No one has even attempted. Sammy released a batch of tablets all at the same time and they've been fairly neglected. I've given up. You can root it but no recoveries.

First off, I'm not new to rooting etc. I've previously rooted several HTC devices and achieved s-off which for those ofyou who know HTC phones, know that the process can be difficult.
That being said, I've recently switched to my very first Samsung device and have achieved root with no problems, but was unable to flash any roms. After searching for a week and coming up empty handed, I decided I'd try the all in one toolbox. I downloaded it and when checking my build number, I discovered what my problem likely is.
My phone is with telus and is the 1747M.
How have I managed to get that build number? Can I change the build easily enough? Should I leave it on that build and just use roms meant for the i9300?
Thanks in advance for your help!!

DO NOT USE i9300!! If it is a carrier device (i747[M]), which it is, you will brick your phone and have to get it JTAGGED. You need to only flash ROMs located in this section.

Please start by reading this thread, reading that thread will help you understand Rooting and installing Roms. Reading that thread will save you from Bricking your phone, as you would have done if you'd flashed a i9300 Rom onto your phone.
Sticky Roll-Up A Guide To All Guides and Q&A's
I've read all of that stuff and the answer to my question isn't there. My build number is the same as listed in i9300. I wasn't going to flash any of those roms without finding out if that was the solution to my problem. I don't want to brick my phone and therefor I stopped doing anything to it until I was able to get some help on how to proceed. I only discovered the build number issue when I tried to use the all in one toolkit and noticed my build number didn't match any of the telus ones but the 9300 ones. I guess I'll just have to continue researching on my own to figure it out. I wouldn't have posted if I wasn't stuck. Thanks anyways

Don't pay attention to build number.
Flash with Odin a pre rooted i747M image. (That's the easiest way)
Do not and I mean DO NOT flash, use, mod anything i9300 or anything international.
Please read some more. A lot more.
Before you end up with a paper weight.
And stay away from anything i9xxx

So I'm new to this xda forum thing and I just have a simple question regarding my note 2 sgh-i317m from rogers. I'm looking to root and flash the latest cyanogenmod to my phone but I've read that to root your phone you must have an unlocked bootloader. So I don't know if my note 2's bootloader is unlocked, whether its already unlocked by rogers when i received it or how to check if it is or isn't. I've looked around all over for an answer to my question and all I've found is a non legit article about how most Canadian note 2's are already unlocked. I don't want to go ahead with rooting my phone and having it brick because my bootloader is locked so I would appreciate the help! Thanks in advance!
For rooting purposes start HERE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33854391
For recovery I use TWRP HERE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33867032
Rom I'm running as my daily driver
Found HERE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36575063
For Rom's and info go to the ONE STOP SHOP thread! Think you should READ up on flashing Rom's, making back ups, modem's, just Android in general!!!
If you haven't done it before it's always the best policy to read as MUCH info as you can. Which in turn Wil save you in the END...

I am pretty good at searching the net, but for the life of me I can't find anything regarding a custom recovery or custom roms for this device.
I have seen justloves's recent post regarding knox, and I'm not worried about tripping mine, as I have never relied on warranties anyway. Assuming that voiding the warranty is the only issue.
Can anyone shed some light for me, and point me in the right direction? I like my device stock just fine, but I decided the other day that its time to root and customize. I did get it rooted via saferoot, but couldn't find anything in the way of custom recoveries/roms.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are a few people working on it atm, mostly lovejoy though I help when I can. Slow going for the most part. As of now there is no custom recovery available. I was talking to him the other day and on his last attempt he softbricked the phone. There are a few roms that have been made by various forum members but nothing "mainstream"... just debloated stock.

i need help on mines SCH-I435 need to sim unlock can't find nothing on this model wish i could do more like root & get cwm and unlock sim can someone help me thanks
Does this mean people with a rooted i435 will need to un- and then re-root to update (OTA) to Kitkat when Verizon/Samsung push it to the device? I don't want to be stuck on 4.2.2 forever because of lack of support for the Verizon model.
Im sure im just getting overly excited and so i wanted a second opinion, but did CF-Auto Root release a root for the verizon models (SM-N910V) i went to the website and scrolled through model list and found one listed , i dont want to brick my phone or anything so could anyone tell me if this is correct, will this work with odin and root the verizon model note 4??
i appologize if this has already been posted or something, i could not find it so i thought i would ask? Thanks for any replies.
I think the build numbers are different

Next time check this thread first. This has been discussed in the last couple of pages and probably more. If the file isn't signed by Samsung it will not flash. It shouldn't brick it, it will just fail to flash. Been there and done that... I probably tried all the root methods available for kitkat 4.4.4 and none work for the retail version.

Root for Lollipop is MUCH more difficult, basically you need to find a way to get a custom kernel (and thus unlocked bootloader) just to get root in L. I wouldn't get my hopes up, at this point as a Verizon Note 4 owner I've given up all hope and just enjoy my phone, its still awesome.
People just repeat nonsense non stop, saying rooting lollipop is much more difficult without a LP image for the device is nothing but nonsensical. All rooting any device/os is the ability to find an exploit on the device. It has much less to do with what android. THE ONLY THING IT HAS TO DO WITH: Is finding an exploit in a stock system to hijack system permissions so u can then make changes to give you admin (ROOT) permission all the time. With an unlocked BL your are able to load your own software pre OS so you are not dependant on finding an exploit in order to get root in OS your options are much greater. And that's it, anything else is pure speculation, so us not having LP on our device you can not claim it will be easier or harder, an exploit is an exploit that's in. So keep the absurd comments coming. Don't bother replying to me because no reason for me to come back here to find more nonsense.

just buy a developer edition and lollipop will be locked down tight apparentley you missed GOOGLE saying that
So my mother just handed me her phone, and asked me to unlock it for her. She was on T-Mobile and wants to switch carriers, but for some reason T-Mobile won't give her an unlock code to do so. She definitely owns the phone, she's had the thing for years and paid it off long ago. Warranty isn't a concern, data loss isn't a concern (already backed everything up), I just want to get this thing unlocked. I hear the usual method for doing so is to downgrade to 4.1 and use the service menu (4.3 lacks the NW LOCK NV DATA INITIALIZ option) but I want to make sure I'm doing it right. I'm quite capable of following directions, I just can't quite seem to find any since OH1 is relatively new. I found some guides based on older firmwares, but I'd like some advice from some people with more know-how before I end up flashing a ROM that displeases the almighty KNOX overlord and bricks the thing.
TL;DR:
Have SGH-T999L on 4.3 and T999LUVUBOH1. Warranty not an issue. Need to know the safest way to unlock, and also ideally root. Kinda afraid to follow older guides without the go-ahead from someone in the know, since OH1 is so new.
Unfortunately, once on 4.3 the free unlock method is useless as you cannot downgrade. The only other option I know of is to buy an unlock code online. There are several sites you can find with a quick search, or you can find them on eBay as well. Its pretty cheap as I recall though.
Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.
As for rooting it, towelroot should work just fine. I have a thread about it in the general section. I'll be testing it on OH1 later today if you want to wait for confirmation, but it should be safe to try regardless.

You can't downgrade at all? I was following this thread, where you commented: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635794 and I thought what was being said was that this "root66mjc" firmware would allow downgrading the ROM to a 4.1.x version, which could then use the dialer code/[4] NW LOCK NV DATA INITIALIZ method. But this guide was for the T999, not the T999L, and I don't see any "root66oh1" or the like for a T999L, so I figured it wouldn't work on the T999L (but was hopeful that there might be an equivalent, or the potential for one)
I guess the important question is, is this "debug screen" through the dialer (through which one can unlock the phone) a function of the ROM or the firmware? i.e. if I rooted and flashed a custom ROM, could the custom ROM potentially unlock it, or are we just totally SOL here because the firmware is (currently?) impossible to downgrade? (I'm never one to believe that anything is completely unhackable, but I suppose the S3 is old enough that most of the community has moved on and stopped bothering.)
Ah, well. If there's nothing that can be done here and T-Mobile won't cooperate, I suppose we could just sell it (it is a functional phone that does belong to her, after all) as a T-Mobile locked phone and pay the difference to buy another one that is unlocked/unlockable.
No way to unlock the phone for free and any attempts to downgrade the bootloader to 4.1.1 from 4.3 may hard brick the phone.
Easiest way to unlock the phone is to buy a code.
