SD card issue on stock rom - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
On my HTC One m8, stock Lollipop Rom, no root, i am having issues moving anything to SD card. Tried putting different SD cards and factory reset the phone as well.
My download folder on the internal memory have a path of storage/0/emulated/ something like this.
Is there any fix to use the memory card please?
Regards.

You have to have a kernel that removes the stock write protection. Which means you need to have root and recovery

...

But this is stock, so there should be a solution to this from htc...

Hi, mathrania...
There might be a solution... It depends on whether or not your M8 is HTC Sense or the Google Play Edition version.
If it's running stock HTC Sense, it should have an HTC file manager in the app drawer, and this file manger can be used for moving stuff to the SD card.
See my post below for further details...

Hope this helps.

Desire Memory Space

Ok, so I finally upgraded to Android 2.2 and moved all my applications (except a few that don't work like that) over to my SD Card thanks to the hack.
Yet I still only have 43MB/147MB...Whats the deal?
Go into Manage Applications and delete data and cache of your apps. The Dolphin browser had something like 50mb of user data for me. Stopped using it now

its because you using legacy apps2sd as apposed to apps2sd+, legacy apps2sd only stores the .apk on the sd card, where as apps2sd+ moves alot more of the program data and cache' to the sd card

that rom dosent have apps2sd+ i suggest if you want more disk space, you try a rom with apps2sd+, like leedroid or nextsence but remember it wont work if you dont create an ext partition on your sd card

Well, eventually we won't need Mod Install or apps2sd+ to do it right, developers will make there apps do it auto? no...
Seems like I have enough space right now, much more then I did before hand, with 2.1. So should be fine. I just found it weird.
*and no way to add apps2sd+ to this ROM?

How does one go about installing Apps2SD+ manually, without resorting to flashing a custom rom (as there are some members here who, like myself, prefer stock roms)?

if your rooted you just need an apps2sd update.zip and flash it from recovery, becareful tho most of the ones ive seen on google are for eclair and wont work with froyo, maybe post a thread in the android development section asking someone to make you one, it wont take a skilled person long

I am rooted (via UnRevoked), and have even got a nice class 6 card already partitioned and waiting.
Surely if it wouldn't take a skilled person long to do it someone would have done it by now? I've seen a few requests in these forums since Froyo was released asking how to install apps2sd, and yet they all either get ignored or pointed towards a custom rom. It's almost as if the people who know how to do it want to keep the secret to themselves!

have been experiencing unmount errors with DXLC1. Just apply a kernel from DXKL2 and that problem will be solved.

I'm also having the same problem with the SD card removal issue. How do I apply a kernel? Sorry but I'm new to Android.
Thanks!

you can try downgrading to DXKL2 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800
or if you have a friend running on DXKL2, ask him to get you a back up copy of the kernel using this thread:

i always have found it weird that you guys are having the so called "sd card unmount" problem, coz i have tested DXLC1 and none of that happened. May i know how much system (services) ram you are consuming??

when im on dxla, onwards until dxlc, "unexpectedly unmount sd" happen when im using my 4gb memory card(kingston), but when im using the memory card along with the phone the 2gb mem card(sandisk) it("unexpectedly unmount sd") didnt happen, i think it has a relation with the memory card brand

SD card formatted

I have a huge problem: My One X's SD card got somehow formatted or deleted. Thing is I have no clue of how that happened. I have a custom ROM (Android Revolution 7.0.1) and a custom kernel (faux123) Any ideas how to find out HOW that happened? and what to do to recover the data/prevent this from happening again? I had installed some root apps( a cracked version of Root Toolbox Pro, System Tuner Pro, etc)

Firstly cracking apps and talking about it is not allowed on these forums
Now that's over, connect your phone to a computer and mount the sdcard then use a recovery software recovera (same guys make ccleaner) to scan your card.
You may not recover all data.

What is your phone doing? is it still running? I am asking because I am about to format the sd card in the HOX but its saying its empty but has 14g taken up by files. I cant get into the card to find out what files they are.. Do custom roms take up space on the sd card?
Could the known storage card problem fixed in 1.29.401.11?
I don't know. I switched ROMs, and I have leedroid now. Seems quite stable. Thinking about putting a custom kernel to be able to lower the CPU core voltage. Hopefully it won't heat that much while using it.

You could also try formatting the SD card, or try a different one if you have a spare

I changed roms one two one aosp neither one helped so I'm guessing it's not Rom related I never take my sd card out of my phone I haven't wiped it I just don't get how one day I can write to it and another day I can't..
