Ok, so I finally upgraded to Android 2.2 and moved all my applications (except a few that don't work like that) over to my SD Card thanks to the hack.
Yet I still only have 43MB/147MB...Whats the deal?
Go into Manage Applications and delete data and cache of your apps. The Dolphin browser had something like 50mb of user data for me. Stopped using it now

its because you using legacy apps2sd as apposed to apps2sd+, legacy apps2sd only stores the .apk on the sd card, where as apps2sd+ moves alot more of the program data and cache' to the sd card

that rom dosent have apps2sd+ i suggest if you want more disk space, you try a rom with apps2sd+, like leedroid or nextsence but remember it wont work if you dont create an ext partition on your sd card

Well, eventually we won't need Mod Install or apps2sd+ to do it right, developers will make there apps do it auto? no...
Seems like I have enough space right now, much more then I did before hand, with 2.1. So should be fine. I just found it weird.
*and no way to add apps2sd+ to this ROM?

How does one go about installing Apps2SD+ manually, without resorting to flashing a custom rom (as there are some members here who, like myself, prefer stock roms)?

if your rooted you just need an apps2sd update.zip and flash it from recovery, becareful tho most of the ones ive seen on google are for eclair and wont work with froyo, maybe post a thread in the android development section asking someone to make you one, it wont take a skilled person long

I am rooted (via UnRevoked), and have even got a nice class 6 card already partitioned and waiting.
Surely if it wouldn't take a skilled person long to do it someone would have done it by now? I've seen a few requests in these forums since Froyo was released asking how to install apps2sd, and yet they all either get ignored or pointed towards a custom rom. It's almost as if the people who know how to do it want to keep the secret to themselves!

lmao, and no not yet you can't.
damn, oh well, hey do you know by any chance y my htc sense weather clock widget thing wouldn't be working????
How many of those apps you use actually daily that you would need ap2sd already =S -- I thought internal storage would be enough
1gb of apps?
damn
There isnt 1GB of app storage. There is just over 300mb
Still, thats ALOT of apps dude.
internal storage is just fine for me lol. And think aboiut when we get nand unlocked and have all that space open because of sense removal

Why would you gain space if you remove Sense?
/system is not the same filesystem as /data where your applications go.

Hi all
I have a new desire which is rooted. For now, I'm only interested in adding app2sd. Is there any way to do that without installing a whole rom?
Thanks in advance!

If you're talking about Froyo's app2sd, I guess it isn't.
If you wanted to add old school A2SD, it's possible, check this site for example:

do it the simple way,
Intsall AmonRA recovery on your desire
download rom manager to your phone from market, use it to format your SD card 512mb (will make ext2), 128 swap and rest fat32 (it will show u options)
Then boot into recovery and convert ext2 to ext3.
then you will need a rom that supports old apps2sd
Thats it.
Oh if you have root download titanium back up and back up apps and use mybackup for sms, mms, bookmarks, call history. once these are restored phone will be same as before
What do I need to do to add data2sd on my unlocked rooted phone running a stock Rom ?
Thanks in advance.

dont know about data2sd.i heard about only app2sd and link2sd.to install app2sd you should have supported rom like CM7.but link2sd is better option for you.just format your memory card using minipartition tool.like fat32,ext4,linux swap.and download link2sd app from android market allow superuser permission and its done.now your all apps ll go to ext4 partition.
example..for 8 gb card
fat32...5 gb(its your memory card when you can store songs, videos etc.)
ext4....not more than 2 gb.(your internal memory)
linux swap...512mb is enough.
good luckk

hmm.i dont know but if you want more then 2 GB,you may have class 10 sdcard.you can try to more than 2GB on 16 GB memory card.
however you have 2 GB internal space by this but you can also move some apps (as you moving in unrooted phone via app2sd app).so its enough but try if you want.
good luck
Op didnt this thread started with a question on support for a STOCK rom? cm7,9,10, wildchild and all thos other (stock based roms) are not stock roms! everyone who roots their phone by now knows that links2sd works on pure htc stock rom, but the majority of users myself included would like to know if we can flash data2sd or a2sd (darktremor) and others and be able to send all apks to sd. WITHOUT the use of a custom rom which have too many bugs to be completely stable (my opinion) anyone who have a real answer to this hit me up!
Hey,
I am using the stock HTC ROM for now. It is unlocked via HTCdev and rooted. I need more storage space on my phone. Going through the forums I see that I can use Link2SD and/or App2SD.
What are the differences between these... and which one is preferable? I don't have a card reader, will that be a problem?

you need a program called MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition which can be googled (get the free one)
also i will look for the thread for you now, its round here somewhere

Link2sd has a GUI it means its an app and it is easy to move apps and do many other things..
Link2sd is prefered when you have class 6 or less card. Data2sd is prefered when you have a fast card.
Well you can make a partition without card reader but just hope it doesnt give errors.
I personally partitioned my SD Card using CWM-recovery. I use S2E. You can try that out too, although the ones suggested above will also do the job well.

Install Titanium Backup - the pro version is well worth the money - and choose 'More' from the menu then ''Integrate sys Dalvik Cache into ROM' also choose 'Clean up the Dalvik Cache'. This could increase available memory by quite a bit.
On Link2SD on the menu choose 'More' and then 'Link dalvik-cache files' - this will free up even more.
Then do a reboot.
