Just got my zenfone 2 a few days ago and battery life isn't exactly as great as I'd hope (besides the 5.0 leak) so what apps are safe to freeze with Titanium Backup?
Here's what I froze without a problem. Anyone please add to this.

I used Titanium Backup Pro.
totenkopf_name, you can uninstall most of the preloaded third party software and Google apps can be disabled without root, and still get OTA. Actually, any app that you are able to uninstall, or disable without root won't affect updates.
I use those, but haven't updated in a while (features may have changed):

I have the Vision Sense 1.82.405.1 Untouched ROM on my Desire Z, and I've noticed excessive data usage with the News app according to PhoneUsage app, despite turning off sync, so I wish to uninstall it. However, it's a HTC app. I have Titanium Backup but I can't figure out how to uninstall the app. Is it possible, and if so how?
In titanium back up bring up the menu select filter, select system apps then hit apply. You will then have a list of just system apps. Find the one you are looking for then when you click on them you will get a pop up menu. I would advise freezing the apps instead of uninstalling them. This way if you ever wanted to get an app back you haven't got reflash the rom. Also wouldn't hurt to do a nandroid first I uninstalled some system apps the other day which resulted fc's that I couldn't get rid of.

Recommendations above (to try freezing the app, and do a nandroid) are good ones, before uninstalling system apps. The News app is built into Android, and uninstalling such apps can possibly lead to issues.

Thanks. By nandroid do you mean using clockworkmod ROM manager to make a backup under Backup and Restore->Backup Current ROM? I've read nandroid guides that say I have to reboot into recovery. Do I have to do this or will "Backup Current ROM" in the app do the same thing?
Also, with News installed, do you guys experience excessive data usage, regardless of sync settings? This is the HTC News app I believe, not the stock Google one(if there's such a thing)

Are there any issues with uninstalling/removing the Stocks and Peep system apps? I only have the free version of Titanium Backup and it doesn't allow me to freeze the apps.

I'm not totaly sure but I think you will be ok, just do a nandroid first so if something goes wrong you can role back

I uninstalled some of the obvious bloatware after rooting.
I do not use Facebook, Google + etc. but I am not sure if it is a good idea to uninstall them?
Ideas on what is needed for absolute functioning of the unit and what can be deleted or uninstalled are very welcome.

Your phone will continue to function as normal after uninstalling those apps if that's what you are asking
Don't uninstall anything related to Sense or Android system. 3rd party system apps that you don't use are generally safe to uninstall. Don't uninstall Sense widgets.
Before you uninstall stuff, do a nandroid backup in CWM Recovery. Then backup the apps and uninstall them using Titanium Backup. If you're unsure about uninstalling an app, you can also freeze it in Titanium Backup to see if there is any adverse affect.
Dont uninstall,instead freeze unwanted apps using titanium backup.

Once you freeze an app, is there a way to keep it from showing up in the play store update list? Or does it have to be removed for it to not show up?
Also, with MyBackup Pro is there a way to remove carrier bloat or is freezing my only option? I currently own a copy of MyBackup Pro and would rather use that than paying for TB.

If your rooted why not just manually remove the bloat?
I guess, since I only recently rooted I didn't realize there was a way to manually remove some of the bloat add-on applications. How would one go about removing them manually?

In titanium backup you have the option to uninstall apps under batch. Just make sure you uncheck everything first then check whatever you want to uninstall.

I guess that is one reason to use TB over MyBackup Pro. Was just trying to save a few dollars and not have to own a copy of both.
Any other way to remove bloat?
Seems I overlooked an Uninstall option in MyBackup Pro.
I'm now looking for a way that uninstalled items do not keep showing updates available in the Play Store. Any options?
TiB will let you disassociate them with Market/Play

I'm a bit confused about how to avoid problems after unrooting and trying to do an OTA update.
Is it ok to uninstall ANY preinstalled apps? I understand the dangers of uninstalling system apps after rooting....but is it ok to uninstall other bloatware like TripAdvisor and games which come with their own uninstaller and can be uninstalled even without rooting?

The general rule (which I learned the hard way) is to freeze system apps instead of uninstalling them. That way if you get any force close errors or problems you can unfreeze them right away. For example, uninstalling WhatsNext caused my camera to stop working properly.

Thanks. But for things like TripAdvisor it's OK to uninstall them in the usual way i.e. without rooting?

Yeah, I uninstalled TripAdvisor and Omlet Chat and Dr Virus (or whatever), etc as soon as I turned on the device. Anything included app that allows to to uninstall it normally through the launcher can be uninstalled safely.

Well, my phone is rooted and has xposed installed, so I haven't tried installing an OTA update yet. Too lazy to unroot and uninstall xposed. I think I'm going to wait for a few more updates to roll by and then do them all at once.

A debloater for OnePlus 5 (really any OxygenOS, but I only have OP5 now). Allows for removal of a lot of pre-installed apps. All apps are user selected. Can trim down and remove unused apps.

Interesting comment as my long time debloat app System app remover (ROOT) wasn't able to remove Gapps apps (Google Music, Google Movie/TV) either. I'm trying to make /system room for installing V4ARISE but after this latest OTA there is not enough /system space left.
In fact that's why I'm looking at this debloat method. I wonder if the issue you observed is why the app I'd previously used no longer works. Unless I find something better I'll likely try Titanium Backup's uninstall method but I was looking for a way to batch clean up which I suspect would need to get done after every OTA.
EDIT: Using Titanium Backup to backup then uninstall worked. I removed Duo (~20Mg) to recovery the space I needed.

I am using also Titanium Backup for Gapps but freezing them rather than un-install.
Today, I tried deeper aroma script and I can uninstall every bloatware less Gapps (Chrome, Gmail,...)
