a lighter version - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys!
Just bought SXZ1C last week and really like it! I would like to change it to lighter OS tough. There is many Google and other apps / programs that I do not mind. Is there any list of programs that are safe to disable? or lighter "stock" ROM for the phone? I have not unlocked boot loader yet. What would be best opinion for me?
thanks guys!

I have been using this Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3097458
It's based on v242 and it's light compared to other stock Roms. Only thing that was missing for me was the radio app but I pushed it to system from another Rom (doesn't matter if radio app is from 242 or 270).

Rom

Hey everyone, I just rooted my device and was looking for a custom rom and was wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions. I know all the roms offer something a little different depending on what the user is looking for, and was looking for a rom that had all the bloatware removed, optimized for performance and battery life, and maybe have a coll updated ui. Im looking forward to your suggestions
Also, since i just rooted it do i need to flash the radio before or after i put on a custom rom(or do i need to do before and after)
also.also, i backed up my system using titanium backup right before i rooted it, will this allow me to put back all the apps i downloaded on my new rom? if so, how do i do this.

Read the rom threads and this does not belong in this section. Ask in the Q and A forum
I installed fresh .3 and my battery dies in 2 hours without having even been used.
Probably not fresh's fault but just saying.

what rom to use

Hope someone can point me in the right direction here, I have a rooted Telus HTC Desire HD. I have tried several ROM's and so far none quite fit the bill. I am looking for a ROM that is basically a rooted version of the stock rom. I only rooted my phone so I could use a clockwork recovery and be able to backup my device. Also Sense is needed as I use google calendar along with pure calendar to display my appointments, contact birthdays and facebook contact birthdays. Facebook for sense seems to be the only way to easily do this. I have RCmixHD which is supposed to be a port of Telus stock rom & I like it except that it does not have Canadian or US English options. If anyone has some ideas on where to look next I sure would like to know.
Hi jmc7895
Since you like sense.. you can try Android Revolution HD and LeeDrOid. Well you can try the Gingerbread version of them, you also have the option to try out the Froyo version.
Cheers. =)
I have to say I am no Android freak, I just started to use Custom Roms for 3 weeks.
But I could honestly recommend Android Revolution HD 5.1.x to everybody.
stable, fast, almost a rooted stock Rom, no trash inside, no problems until you do not install any "Sense 3.0 Addons"
only follow the guides and you will be happy with that rom.
I am currently using Revolution HD.
First custom rom i've tried, I love it. Looks exactly like stock Gingerbread, only waaay faster and with better battery life. Plus there's 24/7 support on the rom's thread
Just follow the tutorials, you'll be fine !
The only downside I could think of is that the rom is not directly available in ROM Manager. Not a big problem anyway =)

[Q] Xperia S - Clean android

Hi guys.
I´m very new to this site, never rooted a phone, or nothing of the sorts.
However.
I´ve got an Xperia S, and I´d like to investigate the opportunity to have it cleaned and refitted with a naked android install. Kinda like the Google Nexus phones. Is that possible? Or do one have to use one of the custom roms? I want this, to get rid of the space the sony-gui and programs uses on my phone, as ram is getting short, and I just like the "naked" feeling it would give.
Any info would be awesome.
Thanks guys

You mean the Vanilla skin. As far as I know, You will have to install a custom ROM for it.

The Vanilla skin, ok. Pardon my ignorance, but where can I get this, and how do I install it? And a custom rom, is that something on top of the existing sony-gui?
Is it possible to wipe the phone clean, and install stock android on it?
Go through XDA, You will find everything here, regarding what is custom ROM, how to install it and necessary precautions. And do read and re-read again, as You are new to this.
Also, if You look, You can find the everything in forum. The ROM's are available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-s/s-development
Check for the AOSP one's, those have Vanilla skin.
Custom ROM usually replace the software entirely, and it is not on top of 'sony-gui.'

Best custom ROMS for HTC M8S (m8ql_ul)

Hello im new to this, so before i go messing my phone up, i was wondering what the best and most stable custom ROMS are for the
m8ql_ul, preferably with no bloatware. Thanks in advanced
Mine: Cyanogenmod 12.1.
You shouldn't use PandoraROM, it is a bit old and should be removed. I haven't used it but I'm skeptical, I think it's just a modified Sense ROM. Worst thing: it still has the stagefright bug. So I don't recommend to use it.
There simply are no other ROMs for this device and no S-Off either.
And im guessing that trying to use roms for the M8 are a NONO
Correct. It's a totally different device. But it looks the same, so HTC just decided to call it M8s. Silly huh.
Well that sucks, i cant even remove the bloatware from the device as it is. what about stock roms minus the bloatware?
Just use Cyanogenmod. It's what you want. Sure, you can take out the bloat from Sense, but that will prevent future updates from working and will cause you much additional grey hairs. With Cyanogenmod 12.1 I already did that work (and grew the grey hairs!).

Looking for a frequently maintained and updated ROM

Hi all,
I have an M9 (CID HTC_102), which is unlocked. I'm running the latest unmodified stock ROM (4.28.401.3) and haven't touched the bootloader. Since I can't upgrade my phone anytime soon, and this phone probably isn't going to get any more updates, I'm looking for a ROM that's as close to stock Android, or better, Pixel (I use Nova Launcher at the moment, so a launcher isn't really a problem).
One of the ROMs I saw is Lineage. Is this the best one that fits the criteria? As I understand, it will also install some apps, but I prefer to use the Google ones (especially an unmodified version of the dialler for caller ID, and the camera app, which I can't use at the moment because my cpu is 810). Will I be able to uninstall them?
Also, what would be the best way to root?
Thanks in advance!
