Hi,
I'm in the process of organising a replacement M9 after my vibrate motor stopped working.
Reading this article here...
http://www.groovypost.com/howto/howto/check-android-reconditioned-or-oem-status/
It was once possible to access the RTN menu to determine if the phone is new or refurbished. The article is a few years old and it doesn't seem to work on my old M7 (haven't got the M9 back yet).
So does anyone know of another (current) method to check the refurbished status of the M9 (and M7?)?
Thanks a lot for any help.

SYMPTOM: can't see any mobile networks
BACKGROUND: I've been using htc one x for a month now. Initially on three, but their signal was unusable at home, so sim-unlocked and switched a couple of weeks ago to giffgaff ( a virtual network on top of the UK o2 network).
All has been fine, until today. I sent a few texts & calls in the morning, and mobile data was working. Since then, I can't see any mobile network.
wifi is fine.
Search Networks pops up "Error while searching for networks" and finds none.
No software changes of any sort since last successful call. No changes at all today, at least until I tried to diagnose the problem.
Running stock rom, with the WW update of a couple of weeks ago (1.28.771.9.CL56522 release-keys) -- neither S-OFF nor unlocked bootloader.
Nothing obvious to me in the normal or radio logcat logs.
The only thing I did after the last successful call was to run sensorly to try and map a trip. I've used this before without any problems. It got no connection but I thought nothing of that. I've since uninstalled it just in case it could somehow be interfering with the radio.
THINGS I'VE TRIED:
No, the airplane mode isn't on, and mobile is. I've toggled airplane from settings and power switch, many times
recreated the APN
checked other phones - yes there are a number of networks visible
tried the original o2 sim - same problem
safe mode
cold boot
reboot, reboot, reboot
obviously I haven't pulled the battery...
turned off wifi, in case it was somehow interfering
HTC diagnostic tool
factory reset
confirmed imei is not blocked
Any ideas? Bearing in mind that I'm looking for something which can happen spontaneously.
Interestingly, while writing this I've just noticed that Baseband version shows as Unknown. That worries me - is it possible that my radio partition has spontaneously corrupted itself?
I did speak to 02 support - they said to take it into a shop for warranty repair. I don't want to try a custom ROM just yet -- not when I might have to use the warranty. But is there any way to force it to reinstall the stock rom (preferably not involving windows)?
I have the same problem as well and flashing custom roms did not solve it for me. But for me even the IMEI number is shown as UNKNOWN...I haven't done anything special to get this issue, one day when I woke up the phone could not connect to any network.
I have tried a lot of different methods but with no success. I don't think we can do anything about the baseband without S-OFF.
If a hard reset fails, then it's time to think about returning the unit. Either get a refund or get it replaced.
This may be irrelevant; but I've had this happen to me on my GNexus. I solved it by going back to stock and it just fixed itself overnight.....
my HTC One X did the same after about 2 weeks. Gave it back to supplier, waiting my replacement.
Even tested with a different SIM card, did a hard reset. Problem stayed the same.
Im curious did any of you find a resolution to this? it happened to me a while ago but yet to fing a solution. HTC refuse to fix under warranty because it is unlocked.. i am currently waiting for the next official update to see if that fixes anything but the way things are looking that could be a while..

It sounds like a fault, probably the radio chip has just stopped working, no software is going to repair that. If it was a software problem, there would be hundreds or thousands of people all having the same issue.

Hi there,
I am new to XDA, have heard a lot about it and hope you guys can help me - apologies in advance if this is an issue with my service provider rather than the phone.
Got my HOX off ebay yesterday, in amazing condition and everything running well. Had to change from a standard orange sim to an EE microsim, so rang up and got that sorted.
The phone is functioning perfectly, however I have one annoying issue to do with the network the phone is displaying that it is on. When you pull down the notification bar, it normally states your network at the top left, on my device instead of finding "Orange" or "EE", I see "@@@@@@..."
Has anyone come across this before, anyone know what is wrong and how I can fix this? I have been in contact with orange and they were frankly, pretty useless. I had the settings resent out to my sim but that hasn't sorted the issue.
I have hopefully attached a couple of screenshots that illustrate my issue, thanks for your help, I can find nothing on the internet about this, just hoping someone else has experienced the same.
HTC One X, International, Tegra 3, All Stock, ics 4.0.4, sense 4.1.
Hoping someone can provide some direction. First and foremost I am not a HTC savvy so although there are a few threads here about the same issue none of them relate to me as I have not rooted the phone nor flashed to custom ROMs or anything to that nature. I am simple user of the phone... Now.. to the topic.. so I bought this phone for my brother in law last year as a birthday present, and at the time I had a working phone so I didnt put my mind too much to it.. but I did liked the phone very much. Two months ago, I decided to purchase one of these, so I bougtht an HTC ONE X Phone S720e Android 32GB 8MP 3G WiFi GPS Bluetooth Unlocked White. I don´t recall what versión of Android it carried at the time but looking at the specs it should had come with Android 4.0.3. After loading it up, transfering my files on to it and loading some basic apps, whatsapp, email, Skype... it off coursed asked for a software update two times which I went ahead and did. The last one it installed added Android 4.2.2 and HTC Sense 5. It was working fine, layout changed considerably... now after doing another of the updates to applications and software, specifically the transfer files update it suddenly quit recognizing data services completely. I though it might be something with the micro sim, so I tried testing a couple of others, it didnt make a difference so I decided to back up my contacts and information I had on the phone and did a Factory reset. It wipped it clean but issue remains the sames, it is unable to even recognize the sim card is missing and when I go into settings I see the message Disconnected because service is unavailable.
Reading online, saw a few folks stating that this situation was related to software updates.. so I was wondering if I could get some help on how to get this fixed. Not sure what to do, downgrade to 4.0.3 or how could I get it resolved so appreciate some direction here.
If you go to settings - about - phone identity, does it still shows the imei ? Seen many people here having their imei gone from their phone and becomes an iPod since we can't write it back. Tho you are on stock, so better send it for repair.

It shows up as unknown actually... is this a software related issue then? Im concerned about the other phone going through the same situation... should no updates be installed to it then? That makes it fairly useless and might prefer to send it back and try to get a refund instead.
same problem for me, still wait for fix

[Q] Radio and OpenDSP have "INVALID-VER-INFO" beside them. Is this normal? Need help
I just recently purchased the m8. I did lots of research learning everything I could before doing any modding. So today I decided to unlock my boot-loader so it was my first time getting into recovery. But when I get into recovery I see both radio and OpenDSP have "INVALID-VER-INFO" beside them. Its never been modified and I got it from t mobile and was the first to open the device. Not a second hand phone. Is this normal? I've been googling for hours and cant find any information. Its been sort of difficult getting any help in the Tmobile htc M8 help threads. If anyone can shed any information I would greatly appreciate it. I haven't noticed any thing wrong with my phone out of the box and everything about the functionality of the phone has been stellar.
if everything works as normal, why would you worry about this?
call you carriers tech support and ask them

I did that already. They advised me to get it exchanged since I'm within 14 days. Got a new one and it was fine at the store no "invalid" next to both. Got home and double checked it. New device same message again. I'm keeping this one as its running fine. But I want to know why it's saying that.
Yeah so my mother went shopping on eBay for an HTC One M8 and ended up buying an HTC One M8w which seems to be the chinese variant of the phone. Most stuff works but I have a few very annoying problems.
The google account doesn't sync properly (had to manually import contacts/calendars)
Apps don't seem to properly detect the GPS (keeps asking user to enable location , however Maps does
Everytime you send a text it nags about data roaming
Ideally I'd like to flash UK stock lollipop onto the device but I'm not sure whether this is possible. If there's nothing I can do then it's getting sent straight back.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
